In the ever-expanding cosmos, there exist many different races and many planets in different galaxies.
However, one galaxy is home to many beings of different origins. This galaxy, the Milky Way galaxy, has a small collection of planets compared to the rest of the known universe but there is one planet unlike any other.
The little blue marvel known as Earth.
However, it wasn't too long ago this little planet would have been wiped out by a threat that wasn't easily defined by good or evil. Almost like a tsunami or hurricane that threatened life throughout the universe.
That force of nature was named Galactus. A being of cosmic might that had to feed on planets to sustain himself of his hunger. It looked to be the end days for the people of Earth until the best of them rose to stop Galactus and his heralds.
The Avengers; Earth's Mightiest Heroes. Heroes of different origins banded together to save their planet from the galactic entity and succeeded in defeating him. Sending him away to a universe where he will never hunger and will never threaten the galaxy for the near future.
These heroes didn't just save their world but many others, as well as avenge the planets and races that fell to Galactus. The universe owes them all a debt of gratitude. They've gone above and beyond to protect life hither to undreamt of.
From the crusade of a future man, Kang the Conqueror. The artificial intelligence that went mad, Ultron. The schemes of the Trickster God, Loki. Fought against the doctrine of the shapeshifting Skrulls and the military might of the Kree.
Threats from the Earth and beyond, the Avengers will continue their mission against evil in all its forms. Little did they know, their mission and lives will become a little more…magical.
Genius, billionaire, playboy, philanthropist; Tony Stark. World's smartest man if you didn't include a certain doctor that can act like a young boy's Flex Armstrong.
The head of the world's most profitable defence companies had just woken up, tiredly rubbing his eyes, and checking the time.
07:00 AM
Tony yawns and stretches before leaping out the bed and putting on his robe, obscuring the shining Arc Reactor in his chest ever so slightly. The device is the only thing shining in the dim room before Tony opens the curtains. He takes in the view of the garden of Avenger's Mansion before stretching his back.
"Note to self, I have got to upgrade the mattresses if we pull off an all-nighter," he muses to himself.
The Armoured Avenger recalls the Avenger's recent nightly activities of taking down AIM soldiers and stopping MODOK's latest plan. It went on longer than expected and Tony thought it best to sleep in the Mansion and not his residence in Malibu with the high thread count and soft pillows. The occasional women in his arms weren't so bad either.
Tony groggily puts on his robe, touches up his hair in the mirror after brushing his teeth and makes his way out of his room to the kitchen.
He takes a few steps down the hall when he hears his name, "Morning Tony."
Tony rubs his eyes and turns to look at a sweat-ridden Sam Wilson, otherwise known for his codename Falcon. Although once adversaries due to the machinations of former HYDRA leader and Secretary of Defence, Red Skull. Falcon, wanting to make amends and a change of pace for his career, pleaded to join the Avengers soon after the threat of Galactus came to pass.
Although he was not of sound mind, the team was hesitant due to him being another one of the Skull's cronies, a cheap copy of the Hulk. He soon became a trusted friend and teammate. Even if the costume is ridiculous to a certain Armoured Avenger.
"Morning to you too, Bird-boy! Barely recognise you without your Halloween costume." Tony jokes with his usual flair of self-indulgent humour. It only got a dry laugh from the newest Avenger.
"Y'know I'll get you for that comment right now, but I need some coffee in me." Sam explains as he wiped the sweat off his head.
Tony grew a cheeky smile and quips, "What, Steve beat your ass jogging again? Tell me how it feels to have a ninety-year-old man run circles around you?"
Sam is not amused and counters, "About the same as having a ninety-year-old man whoop yo' ass in the ring."
Tony hums in embarrassment, remembering the all too painful training lesson Steve was coaching him on. He really must stop Hawkeye from telling that story.
"I see you're not too exhausted to let that comment go?" Tony speaks out the side of his mouth as he and Sam make it to the kitchen.
They're soon greeted by Janet van Dyne known as the Wasp, conversing with another new member of the Avengers. Former SHIELD/ HYDRA double agent, Black Widow otherwise known as Natasha Romanoff.
She had a complicated history with the Avengers to say the least. First, she was with SHIELD, then was with HYDRA but not really. Then went back to working with Nick Fury during the Skrull conspiracy and now saddled with the Avengers. Seeing it as the next logical step for her crime fighting career now that she no longer affiliates with SHIELD. Though still has contact with Fury.
"Ladies," Tony greets with a wink before going for the coffee pot.
"Tony, hey, I didn't know you slept here?" Jan responds, seeing the dishevelled attire on the normally impeccably dressed billionaire.
"Well, I did live here before, and I do pay for the house. And the bedding. And the heat. So why not enjoy them," the Armoured Avenger explains.
All the current Avengers roll their eyes.
"As you so modestly remind us of every day." Natasha snarks then sips her coffee, just as another member of their team shows up.
The newly christened leader of the Avengers, Steven Rogers known to the world as Captain America has sauntered into the kitchen looking moderately sweaty.
"Well look who's done with their morning jog? I assume you're done. I blinked just now; did you go back out and do it again." Sam jokes with everyone including Steve rolled their eyes.
"Very funny. Almost as funny as the last few times you said it," Steve reprimands but without any sternness in his voice.
It was almost instantaneous how the two men had forged a strong companionship. Perhaps it was their connection to Red Skull, their military background or perhaps Sam's earnest sense of humour. Steve took a shine to Sam and within months they behaved like old friends.
"I take it everyone slept well?" Steve asks the room as he takes a coffee from Natasha.
"Oh yeah, nothing puts me to rest than a night of taking out nerds with a hazmat fetish." Jan responds with her usual enthusiasm of crime fighting.
"The superhero version of sleeping pills. Putting bad guys behind bars." Sam adds on, sharing a friendly fist bump with Jan.
"At least this time it didn't end with major destruction of property. I swear without our heavy hitters, my bank account can take a break." Tony comments, thinking back on the times he had to pay for damages on the Avenger's behalf.
"Break? Now that's ironic," Sam snarks.
"Haha," Tony drawls and then takes a moment. "You know it has been pretty quiet without them here."
"Well with Thor back in Asgard, trying to find out ways to defeat that fire demon guy and the Hulk..." Jan stops herself, remembering her big green friend.
It was still a sore topic. Despite his innocence being proven and helping fend off Galactus' heralds. Hulk still refused to come back and join the team. Which weighed on everyone's hearts.
"Soooo, did Thor give a timeframe on when he'll be back?" Sam asks, hoping to move past the awkward moment.
Which only transitioned into a grave one.
"No." Steve began with a heavy tone, "He did say his time away would be unpredictable with Surtur's armies causing chaos across the other eight realms."
"Which is only a precursor to the horned one himself, kicking off the Twilight of the Gods." Natasha states while finishing her coffee. "Ragnarök."
It's to be expected when having a once mythical figure be on their contact list. What was once considered to be simply faith to some, fiction to others is as real as the coffee they drink. The God of Thunder is real and a dear friend to them all, having faced many threats together.
Even against his own brother, Loki, God of Mischief.
However not one of them thought that the prophesied Ragnarök is also very real and on the verge of starting. The death of Thor's people hung over them and they hoped that Asgard could once again prevail.
"We should be helping Asgard, derailing the Ragna-whatever. Thor shouldn't have to do this without his team," Jan said with righteous indignation.
"Jan, we had this discussion with Thor already. Asgard may know Ragnarök is coming but they have no idea how Surtur plans to pull it off. They're going in blind which means we would be too," Natasha reminds her friend.
"She's right, and if I may speak for myself, I'm not in the mood to get back into crazy magic land. Where we'll have to fight some Sauron rip-off after we just handled Reindeer Games' temper tantrum of not having the throne," Tony argues, reminiscing of the time the Avengers saved Asgard from Loki.
"You're just mad because the Dwarves made you give back the armour you made," Jan points out while pouting.
Tony is about to argue back and his mouth is open but no words are coming out. He takes a moment and shrugs.
"Maybe a little," he admits.
The Armoured Avenger is about to take a sip of his coffee but notices slight ripples in the brown liquid. The ripples sped up as the appliances in the kitchen started to shake, which everyone took notice of.
Before anyone knew it, the kitchen, no, the entire Mansion was hit by a massive quake.
No. Not just the Mansion. New York City itself is shaking with tremendous force. People on the streets grabbing onto whatever they could. Some in offices try not to fall out windows. Those at the docks trying not to drown in the waterside, as waves crashed against them.
The Avengers themselves were keeping themselves steady during this massive quake like so many others.
"Earthquake!" Sam yells out over the trembling Mansion, holding onto the kitchen island for support.
"Really…Didn't…Notice!" Tony couldn't help but crack wise as the quake continued, him leaning on Steve for support.
Natasha took a page from Sam and hung on to the kitchen island while Jan activated her suit and shrunk down to avoid the tremors. However, she still felt the vibrations in the air, and it was palpable.
Soon enough the tremors died down and soon silence filled the room, everyone taking a moment to gather their bearings.
Jan is the first one to speak after shifting back to her regular size, "Well. I don't know about you guys. But I think that was the mother of all earthquakes."
"But this is New York. We shouldn't be capable of an earthquake this big?" Steve ponders while rubbing his head.
"Has it been a hundred years already?" Natasha quips, referencing how some researchers believe the Big Apple will experience an earthquake every century.
"JARVIS, report back seismic activity. I want to know how bad we were hit," Tony commands his house A.I who responds almost instantly.
"Seismic activity normal for New York, Sir. I have no evidence of this being a natural earthquake."
The Avengers all looked at each in shock before new arrivals entered the kitchen, dazed out of their minds.
Former SHIELD Agent turned fugitive turned Avenger, Clint Barton, designated as Hawkeye.
SWORD liaison and half-Kree mutate, Carol Danvers, known to the world as Miss Marvel.
"Talk about a hell of an alarm clock," Clint grumbles, still trying to wake himself up.
"Last time I sleep in," Carol adds, fixing her hair.
The two Avengers make it to the rest of the team and notice the surprised looks on their faces.
"What'd we miss?" Clint asks the room, but Tony ignores him and questions his A.I again.
"JARVIS, say that again. This wasn't a normal earthquake?"
"Yes sir. No sign of major seismic activity in New York or the surrounding states."
That made the Avengers stunned. If this was not a regular earthquake, then what was it?
"Either JARVIS can't properly scan for earthquakes…" Tony spoke and the A.I interjected.
"Doubtfully."
"…Or something or someone caused it," Steve finishes, saying what everyone was thinking.
"Okay, so it may be a supervillain attack or science experiment gone wrong, but who could do something this massive?" Jan ponders.
"Let's find out. Tony, can you find the point of origin?" Steve orders.
"JARVIS…what he said," Tony then orders his house A.I.
"If I may," someone else says.
Nearly everyone jumped at the arrival of the Synthezoid, Vision. An artificial person made to once destroy them but only becoming a defender of humanity despite his origins. A valued teammate and comrade that the team treasure.
If only he knew how to knock.
"Dammit! Vision, we told you to not do that." Clint scolds the Synthezoid.
"Oh" Vision realises his blunder of phasing into the room without notifying the recipients. He reaches over to the kitchen island and taps his fists on top of the counter.
"Knock. Knock. It is me; Vision," the Synthezoid woodenly greets.
This action earned a deadpan stare from everyone which Vision failed to recognise.
"…Vision just… What's up?" Tony says exasperated. "Is this about the earthquake?"
"Correct. I took to searching for seismic activity of my own accord but failed to find any. Then I took to news channels and social media to see if anything was reported. Only to discover something most unusual."
"What's that?" Carol asks.
"I believe you should see for yourself," Vision responds and walks to the television hanging on the wall.
The Synthezoid turns on the tablet he was holding since his arrival and showed his teammates the trending news feed about the earthquake.
'WTF? EARTHQUAKE IN NY?'
'IT'S HAPPENING! 2014 IS THE END!'
'NEAR MANHATTAN ISLAND, WHAT THE HELL AM I SEEING?"
"HIT PRETTY BAD AT THE ISLAND, WHAT'S WITH THE BEANSTALK?"
"AN ISLAND RIGHT OUTSIDE THE ISLAND. IS THIS ANOTHER INVASION?"
The Avengers read through the feed and despite the panic from the earthquake that seemingly hit Manhattan Island worse, there is one other thing that is consistent.
People were reporting and taking pictures of another island near Manhattan with a very big tree.
"Is that? An island?" Jan struggles to say, as she didn't believe it.
"Damn that is a big ass tree!" Sam utters.
"That can't be a coincidence. That must be what caused the tremors," Natasha deduces, still staring at the never-ending feed of people reporting seeing the island.
"That is what I deduced as well, Miss Romanov. It seems the sudden arrival of this island caused a massive quake in the surrounding areas," Vision deduces.
"An island doesn't just appear." Tony states looking confused before adopting a defeated expression. "Something tells me this is the work of something crazy, isn't it?"
"Doesn't matter, we know where we're needed now," Steve spoke up and everyone knew where this was headed.
The super-soldier shouts the words that everyone knows, "Avengers Assemble!"
Herushes off to put on his uniform and get ready for action while the others sit around for a moment.
"…he does realise we're all here, right?" Sam asks the room, earning a smirk from Tony who smiles with vindication.
The Quinjet soars through the sky, heading towards downtown Manhattan where the mysterious island appears miles away.
All the Avengers who were not made for flight, sat comfortably inside, all donning their uniforms. While Iron Man, Ms. Marvel and Vision flew ahead.
"Iron Man. Any reports on any major damages to the city?" Captain America requests.
Iron Man immediately answers, "Negative Cap. Looks like the quake just sent a quick ripple throughout the city, making things messy but no major damage reported. Besides New York Bay which could be second to Atlantis, if the wave that hit it was any bigger."
Just below them is Liberty Island which was lucky to not be fully submerged in the Hudson River. Just massive puddles in the road and people being treated by relief teams.
"At the least it couldn't have been worse," Wasp offers.
"We can leave rescue efforts to the proper authorities, let's pay that island a visit?" Black Widow states, eyeing the island in the distance.
Soon enough they were hovering over the island, inspecting it now with their own eyes. It is quite frankly a beautiful place despite its odd structure, almost like there were levels to it. With a gigantic tree at the top eclipsing the whole island.
"I had JARVIS scan for life signatures, they're there but scattered and not moving," Tony announces while looking at scans, signifying multiple life signatures. However, he is also reading something else.
He continues to talk, "Couldn't help but notice an unknown energy reading that's covering the entire island. Mostly coming from the giving tree over there."
"Can you identify it?" Cap responds.
Iron Man nods and states, "It's nothing I can identify straight away, but it reads almost like the energy that Thor gives off. Which means it's…"
"Magic." Cap finishes for him as the Quinjet lands on the shoreline.
"Time to go sightseeing." Hawkeye quips as every Avenger inside the aircraft makes their way outside. With the airborne Avengers landing beside them.
"We'll split up to find any residents of the island, try to find out why this happened. Anyone finds anybody, radio in. We're here to talk unless they give a reason not to." The Star-Spangled Man with Plan relays his orders to his team.
"But knowing our luck, they probably will," Hawkeye once again quips as the Avengers sauntered into the unknown.
However, they were unaware they were being watched by a dainty looking girl who was wearing no shoes. A confused look on her face as she gazed upon the Avengers, before she disappeared, determined to find out more.
Captain America traverses through the forest to the nearest heat signature according to his ID card. Falcon is in the air, giving a bird eye's view to spot anything else.
"Cap heads up unless my eyes deceive me. There looks to be a T-Rex walking your way, so heads up for Jurassic Park." Falcon warns on his coms which Cap received.
"Understood."
The First Avenger hid beneath a tree as a weird looking creature by his standard, stomped past him. Feeling something at his feet, he sees multiple rodent-like creatures scurry away from the enormous creature.
"Why are they pink?" He ponders aloud as he resumes running to his desired location. "Falcon. Am I any closer to the life signs?"
"Just keep running ahead, I'm about to land," Falcon advises.
Cap did as he was told, running ahead faster than before. He rushed into a small clearing and inspected his surroundings. He turns to a sharp noise and looks to see Falcon landing on the ground next to him.
"Even when I'm flying you beat me." Falcon jokes which made his teammate smirk as they looked around for any life signs.
What drew them was a sprout of pink hair, sticking out from the dirt.
"Guess we found one." Cap states as they both head to the downed being.
A moment of digging him out and more is revealed to them. It's a young man with tan skin and pink hair, the most striking thing about him is his scarf. Captain America loosened it a little to feel his neck and check his pulse. He raises an eyebrow at how solid the scarf felt for lack of a better term but is relieved to find a pulse.
"He's alive."
"So's this… guy."
Cap turns his head and is caught off guard by the creature in Falcon's hands. A blue feline creature with a green bag hanging on its back.
"Why is that cat blue?" Cap wonders aloud which resulted in a shrug from his teammate.
Unbeknownst to them, the man with pink hair is slowly waking up. His eyes falling onto Falcon and his heart quickened when he saw who was in the strange man's hands.
"HAPPY!"
Captain America could barely react as the young man in his arms punched him across the clearing. Falcon called out to his teammate and found the blue cat in his hands pulled away and he jumped back in reaction.
The man with pink hair is shaking the creature in hands while Falcon takes the moment to check on his fellow Avenger.
"Happy! Wake up buddy!"
"…Natsu. Stop yelling," the cat slowly starts to wake up and fully takes in the person in front of him. "NATSU!"
The two now known as Natsu and Happy hug with tears of joy staining their faces.
"I thought…I thought we were goners! Did the protection spell work?" Happy blubbers, clearly shaken up.
"I don't know?" Natsu replies as he takes a few whiffs and jerks his head every which way, to search for something, "But I do know one thing, that monster isn't here."
Falcon never took his eyes off the two as they conversed while he attended to his teammate. Picking up the fact they must have been attacked before the island appeared in New York.
"Cap, are you alright?" Falcon asks with concern in his voice.
"I'm fine. Though I do think I have to apologise to Tony again," Cap states, reminiscing how he slugged the Armoured Avenger upon waking up from a seventy-year nap. Still nursing his chin from the admirable hard hit, he suffered from.
"HEY!"
The two Avengers put their full attention on the pink-haired man, who is steaming with rage.
"Who the hell are you two? You with the Magic Council?" Natsu interrogates, confused by the two's presence.
That made the two heroes raise an eyebrow, not familiar with the term.
"I'm afraid we're not. Let's calm down and we can explain everything," Captain America negotiates, taking a tentative step forward. "We're not here for a fight."
Natsu did not like this, he couldn't take another force of foreign invaders on his guild's sacred ground. He fully took in the two men in front of him and despite the odd outfits they wore, he noticed that they didn't exude any hostility.
"Alright," Natsu growls, "You guys have one minute to explain why I shouldn't toss your asses off of Fairy Tail's property!"
The two men weren't deterred by the threat and saw beneath the fiery man's bravado, a fear of having to fight a potential threat. Falcon takes the first step, "Let's start by introducing ourselves. My name is Falcon and my friend you slugged is Captain America. We're a part of a team called the Avengers, does that mean anything to you?"
Those names flew right over Natsu and Happy's heads, silently confirming that these two aren't familiar with Earth's Mightiest Heroes.
"Sorry but we don't know what that is?" Happy answers confused, "But I'm Happy and this is Natsu. We're mages of Fairy Tail."
Once again, the Avengers raise an eyebrow.
Falcon repeats what he thinks he heard, "Fairy Tale?"
"Yeah Fairy Tail. What, you haven't heard of our guild?" Natsu barks.
"Can't say that we have," Cap answers as he takes a few more steps. "I know this will come across as a shock but the island we're on, was transported just outside our city. Do you know how that could've happened?"
"Tenrou Island…transported?" Happy mutters out in disbelief and his partner isn't doing much better.
"What a load of bull!" Natsu snarls, clearly not believing the First Avenger's words.
"It's the truth, I can lift you up and show you…" Falcon offers but was cut off by the pink-haired man.
"Happy!" Natsu barks.
The cat immediately responds, "Aye sir!"
The Avengers were once again taken off guard when they saw Happy sprout wings and carry Natsu into the sky.
"Did that cat just grow wings?" Cap asks, staring at the sky dumbfounded.
"Yeah, not gonna lie, I'm just as stumped as you are." Falcon states, not prepared for today.
Natsu and Happy soon land in front of them, clearly flabbergasted by what they've seen as they collapse to their knees. A metropolis like that they've never seen before with buildings almost reaching the sky. A sight that isn't even familiar in Magnolia much less Tenrou Island, meaning that they were truly transported somewhere.
"You two were really telling the truth." Happy breathes out, jittery from the reality he found himself in. "Natsu, do you think that the blast took us here?"
"I don't know Happy. I've never heard of a dragon roar able to send someone to another land!" Natsu shakily admits, not even caring of putting up a tough façade.
He notices red boots near him, and he looks up to see Captain America looking down on him with pity but also familiarity? The good leader of the Avengers offers the Fairy Tail wizard a hand up. He remarks, "I know what it's like to wake up in a world that's unfamiliar to you. We're here to help you however we can."
Hearing the soldier's words, Natsu peers into his gentle eyes and sees that this man truly wanted to help him. Unlike the other unwanted interlopers, he had to go up against the last few days.
The Salamander of Fairy Tail takes the hand of Captain America.
"Now. Despite hearing bits and pieces, we want to hear it from you straight. What happened on this island before you were knocked out?" Cap asks, hoping to get to the bottom of this as he helps Natsu up.
The fiery young man took a moment as the memories of a savage black dragon appeared on his mind. The very thought sent chills down his spine as he tried to speak about it until an unusual scent hit his nose.
The new smell made him jerk his head to the direction he is smelling from, confusing the two Avengers.
"You smell something Natsu?" Happy asks his partner, who is focused on identifying whatever he was smelling.
"Ya boy good…Happy?" Falcon addresses the blue cat, still finding it strange to converse with a house pet.
"Yeah, he has a really good nose," Happy explains.
"And it's telling me that something is on fire and it's coming for us fast," Natsu explains as he stares upwards, making the others follow suit.
"On fire? What'd you mean?" Falcon asks once again, and his query is answered when everyone sees something in the sky.
At first, they thought it was a fireball that was about to impact the island. Only as it flew closer and closer, they saw it more as a fiery swarm with hundreds of scary looking creatures bundled together. The heat that was exuding is palpable to only three of them and their breath catches when the swarm separates to many parts of the island.
One group of these creatures found their way to them.
"SCATTER!" Captain America orders as everyone present jumps back to avoid the impact. Happy grabbed onto Natsu as they floated in the air, Falcon did the same with Cap but put him down. Everyone takes in the creatures in front of them and they are shocked.
The creatures seemed to appear almost like goblins but set ablaze, looming over everyone. They were quite tall in stature but slightly hunchback, donning wings that befitted the likes of the devil. Despite being composed of the element of fire, most commonly symbolising life, the eyes of these creatures were the opposite. They were as dead and empty as an abyss.
"What are these things?" Happy exclaims, still staring at these fiery monsters.
"I don't know but they don't look friendly," Falcon answers back, both he and Cap prepare for the worst.
They were proven right when the creatures roared fire and scattered to attack the two wizards of Fairy Tail. Before the two could respond the two Avengers intercepted the monsters from attacking.
Captain America wielded his iconic shield and tossed it against one of the creatures, knocking it back and sending the shield careening back to his reach. He had to bite his lip for a moment, his shield slightly scorching, leaving soot on his gloves.
Falcon took the air and fired off his feather darts, hitting a few of the creatures but his attack was futile. The moment of impact, the feather darts were incinerated like it didn't even connect.
"Natsu. Happy. Get to safety!" The star-spangled Avenger calls out to the guild wizards as he blocks an attack from one of the fire monsters. Struggling being close to beings of flame and heat, sweat pouring down his face.
"FIRE DRAGON IRON FIST!"
The pressure the super-soldier felt went away as the monster he was engaged with was sent flying back. Dissipating into pure flames, and indication that it was dead and reduced to its mere element.
Natsu lands in front of Captain America, his fists blazing with fire but not showing signs of pain. He turns to face him, and the good captain sees a look of satisfaction he once saw in the likeness of a certain green giant.
"How about you sit back while I handle these clowns. Fairy Tail style!" Natsu offers with a certain cockiness in his voice.
The Salamander of Fairy Tail leaps into action, fists ablaze and engages in combat with the fiery monsters.
Falcon lands next to his fellow Avenger, not taking their eyes off the blazing display.
"So, pinky's enhanced? Really defining fighting fire with fire," the lone-bird Avenger snarks as Natsu continues to fight off the monsters.
"He's not enhanced." Falcon turns to face Captain America who didn't dare take his eyes off the fight. Remembering what the blue cat said a few moments ago.
"Is that magic?" Cap ponders aloud.
A small voice answers his musings, "Dragon Slayer Magic."
The two Avengers turn to see Happy with his wings out to reach eye level with the two of them as he continues speaking, "A dragon's lungs exhale fire. Dragon's scales to dissolve fire and dragon's claws enveloped in fire. That's what makes him a Fire Dragon Slayer."
"Dragon Slayer?" Captain America repeats the phrase with uncertainty.
"Sounds like something straight out of D&D," Falcon comments as they continue to watch the Dragon Slayer defeat another fire monster, "Looks like your boy is handling himself alright."
"You haven't seen anything yet. Those guys are gonna be sorry that they can only use fire," Happy says with a knowing smirk and soon enough, the Avengers know what he is talking about.
Natsu decapitates one creature with a blazing kick and somersaults over the remaining monsters. He appears to be slightly out of breath, still not fully recovered from his past endeavours. However, his efforts yielded results as there were only three of these burning creatures left but they don't appear to move.
The Dragon Slayer glances at the creatures' stomachs, noticing how bright they were shining and soon their mouths start to glow. The creatures took aim and blasts of fire rocket out of their mouths, heading straight to Natsu.
Before anyone could say anything, Happy and Falcon watched as Captain America bolted to Natsu's aid. Shield in hand, he made it to the Dragon Slayer and defended him against the inferno barrelling towards them. He holds his Vibranium shield strongly as the flames bend around, leaving the two unharmed.
"CAP!" Falcon shouts in concern and prepares his wings to help the two out but halts, hearing a strange sound.
It almost sounded like someone slurping their spaghetti at dinnertime. Before he knew it, he saw the flames generated by the attack soar into the air and make their way into Natsu's mouth. Captain America notices the force of the attack easing up and he turns to see the same thing as his teammate.
Natsu is eating fire.
Not just from the recent attack but the patches of flames that burn in the trees and bushes from the scuffle. No single fire in sight.
When Natsu was done, he swallowed and burped. He faces the creatures once more and Cap sees his eyes change into dangerous slits. Giving him pause.
Like a dragon awoke and is ready to kill the intruders who broke into his cave.
"Nice breath attack. I'm all fired up." Natsu utters as he takes a deep breath and while the shield wielding Avenger doesn't know what the Dragon Slayer is about to do, he gets out of the way.
"FIRE DRAGON ROAR!"
Natsu exhales a crimson blast of flames, double the size the creatures made as the attack hits them dead on. Incinerating them in one fell swoop, leaving nothing behind as the flames just kept going.
Soon the flames died down and everyone could still hear the roar echoing throughout the clearing.
What is left of it anyway.
Captain America is surprised to say the least, he's seen some weird stuff in his time with the Avengers. But seeing Natsu scarf down flames like he was at a buffet which is shocking to say the least.
The super-soldier is taken out of his thoughts when he sees a hand in front of him. It's Natsu with a big toothy grin which makes the Avenger smile as he takes the hand.
"He just ate fire? You just ate fire? How did you eat fire?!" Falcon approaches the two with Happy and is flabbergasted by what he just witnessed.
"I told you he's a fire Dragon Slayer. He can eat flames to replenish his power," Happy explains, amused to see the winged Avenger so astonished.
"That's right," Natsu exclaims with a fist raised but gazes down at his stomach, "Though I gotta say. I've never tasted flames like that before."
Barring a certain psychotic Dark Wizard who could cast flames that were dark as the blackest night. There was no fire that tasted different to him and certainly nothing he couldn't eat. While he managed to eat whatever flames these creatures were using just fine. It left a foul taste in the Dragon Slayer's mouth, and he can't explain why.
"Well, I thank you for getting rid of whatever those creatures were but…" Captain America thanks the young Fire Wizard but he inspects the damage that was done.
The dragon roar obliterated the trees and scorched the earth beneath it, leaving a trail of destruction yards away.
"…I think you overdid it a bit," he admits with a sweatdrop running down his face.
Natsu just laughs it off, his toothy grin unchanging, "Can't call myself a Fairy Tail wizard without bringing the house down."
The star-spangled Avenger turns to look at Happy who just shrugs and sighs, making him deduce that this was a common occurrence. He looks beyond Happy, and something catches his eye above the treeline.
Smoke.
A moment later everyone takes notice of the smoke and turns to Captain America barking his orders, "These hordes of creatures may be beaten but there looks to be more attacking this island. I don't know what they are but if you have friends on this island in states like you were in Natsu, they may be defenceless."
"Don't underestimate Fairy Tail pal!" Natsu exclaims with a passion, "Whatever these things are, they'll regret coming to our island and messing with us!"
"That may be. But we have other Avengers on this island with us, they must have engaged with your guild by now. Falcon, get to the skies, and contact the others. We'll go to where that smoke is coming from," Captain America orders.
Falcon nods and spreads his wings to take off beyond the treeline.
Cap turns to face the pink-haired mage, asking him, "Natsu. You have the nose, mind sniffing out if there are any people in that direction?"
Despite just meeting and being in separate groups, the Salamander of Fairy Tail took the order in stride. Answering back, "Yeah, I smell 'em. Let's go kick some ass!"
The Fire Dragon Slayer already rockets into the forest, his nose leading him to three familiar scents, one unknown and a horde of burning smells. Happy flies beside him while the star-spangled Avenger follows behind them.
Up in the air, Falcon opens communications and sends a teamwide alert, "Falcon to Avengers. Me and Cap came across two of the inhabitants before we were attacked by some crazy fire monsters. Do you copy."
He waits a few moments before getting a response from a very frantic Wasp.
"Little busy Falcon!"
Wasp all but yelled into her I.D card as she dodged a burning sweep from one of the fire monsters. She zips around the creature, firing her stingers hoping to do some damage. At best it irritated the beast forcing her to gain some distance.
"SKY DRAGON ROAR!"
A torrent of wind hits the creature dead on, blowing it away into the bushes.
Wasp turns to see the blue haired child, Wendy Marvell, standing with a determined look about her. The shrinking hero hovers in front of her and the look of determination turns to concern.
The child asks innocently, "Are you okay, miss?"
"Yep, just peachy. Not everyday you meet a kid with blue hair, her talking snooty cat who's not a cat, and a blonde who can summon a maid that's also a masochist!" Wasp all but screams thinking about her odd situation.
At first it was a normal endeavour, she trekked through the island to the nearest life signature. She succeeded in finding the inhabitants of the island. They woke up and after introducing herself as an Avenger she learned about them.
The kid was named Wendy who was probably one of the sweetest kids Wasp had met.
There was a white-haired cat named Carla, who most definitely fell on a stick by the way she conducted herself. Also, quick to correct that she is an Exceed not a cat.
She could also talk in a British accent which was something the insect themed Avenger was not expecting.
Finally, there was Lucy Heartfilia who was normal enough to Wasp. Besides freaking out upon waking up, she was just about to explain what happened to them before the island appeared in New York.
Then all hell broke loose when those monsters rained down from the sky.
The hellish appearance of these beasts did not deter Wasp from engaging in the action. However, her stingers weren't too effective against the monsters' fiery physiology.
Before she could call for backup, she found the monsters sinking into the earth, their flames snuffed out upon being buried alive. In their place was what she could only describe as something from Tony's bachelor days. A somewhat homely maid with short pink hair sprouted from the ground, stared at her and before Wasp could respond, "Excuse me. Would you punish me with those little zappy zaps sometime, Miss?"
After that awkward interaction it was one thing after another for the shrinking Avenger.
Lucy reveals herself as a Celestial Spirit Wizard, able to summon denizens of the Celestial Spirit World to her aid. The maid being one of her gold keys, Virgo. Who did not stop with the requests of masochism, in which Wasp was relieved that Lucy wasn't into it or making her spirit say those things.
Wendy caught the Avenger by surprise when she generated whirlwinds from her palms not unlike a certain dome-head she knew. Apparently, the girl was a Sky Dragon Slayer but unfortunately her Magic only seemed to fan the flames of whatever these creatures were. Albeit they were slightly more effective than Wasp's stingers.
Wasp brings herself back to the moment when the monster the Sky Maiden blew away, came back with a vengeance. The Avenger fires a barrage of her stingers to slow it down, screaming for Wendy to run but to no avail. The hellish beast kept charging until Wasp could see Wendy no longer in sight of the creature.
The Avenger looks up and sees Carla holding Wendy up in the air. With wings!
"Of course, the not-cat has wings," Wasp mutters to herself, "First, she can talk, then she's British and now wings! I wouldn't be surprised if she could grant wishes."
Wendy breathes in and soon wind gathers around her left foot. Using Carla's wings to her advantage, they both dive through the air to launch the attack.
"SKY DRAGON TALON!"
The Dragon Slayer and Exceed perform a loop-de-loop and the former's heel connects with the fiery beast's head. Crushing the skull, killing it instantly while Carla brings Wendy back into the air.
"Looks like I need to get in close to stop these things," the young girl deduced, relieved that her Magic isn't completely useless.
"While I don't like you getting close to those hellions, it looks like we have no choice." Carla reluctantly admits. Not liking her young partner taking on these vile creatures so close.
"Nice flying you two," Wasp compliments as she hovers beside them. "Good to see one of us can hurt these things."
"Maybe I can help you." Wendy offers with a determined expression that confuses Wasp. The Dragon Slayer proceeds to cross her arms and hums.
"Power of the stout arms that tears heaven." Wency recites while Wasp still looks at her strangely.
"ARMS!"
Wendy shouts as her magic seal activates and a teal light covers Wasp. The Avenger was stunned for a moment until she felt herself suddenly feeling different. It was a good feeling as the energetic Avenger felt that she was feeling energy for the first time in her life.
"What did you do? I feel amazing!" Wasp exclaims as her wings flutter at twice the speed.
"I used my physical enhancement spell to give you an edge against those monsters." Wendy explains as the Avenger zipped around with newfound vigour.
"Well then." Wasp spoke, her hands charged with her stingers, but they were more vibrant and hummed louder than ever before. She flashed a grin, and her eyes showed a dangerous glint, unnerving the Sky Maiden slightly.
"Time for round two." Wasp eagerly states.
Wasp bolts towards the horde of monsters that surrounded Lucy and Virgo and gets to blasting. Her stingers now firing at twice the speed and double the pain. The fiery beasts howled in pain but couldn't defend themselves from the tiny heroine.
Lucy and Virgo were surprised by the Avenger's attacks now having an effect but weren't going to waste this opportunity.
"Virgo!" Lucy commands.
The Maiden Celestial Spirit acquiesces, "Right, my princess."
She begins to submerge herself underground and jumps behind the fiery beasts. While the monsters were distracted, Virgo took the opportunity to dig holes underneath them. Burying the raging flames, they were made of, snuffing them out. However, she missed one creature who leaped in the air with a fiery claw raised, ready to attack the defenceless Spirit.
Before the attack could connect, the monster was wrapped around what could only be described as a river that flowed like a whip. The action distracted it enough for Virgo to disappear within the earth as the monster crashed on the ground.
The burning creature gets up and glares at who was binding it with raging fury.
It was Lucy who was using her gifted whip from the Celestial Spirit World, a whip that flowed like a river and shone like the stars in the night sky.
Fleuve d'étoiles. The river of stars.
"Someone! Take this thing down now please!" Lucy grunts as she struggles to hold it in place but soon finds her hold easing as the monster now charges at her.
The infernal monster charged at the blonde Mage like a raging bull, so focused on her it was caught off guard when Wasp grew to her regular size with her hand raised.
Shining with a vibrant aura.
It was too late for the creature as it charged right into it's doom, the head engulfed in a stream of bioelectricity leaving nothing behind. The headless body dissolved into flames, the last of the horde attacking the two ladies, child, masochist and Exceed.
Lucy stares with an amazed expression at the shrinking Avenger who glanced back with an innocent smile.
"Thanks for the save." Lucy compliments as she deactivated her whip.
"You should be thanking your pal, Wendy. That kid gave me something better than coffee," Wasp replies, stretching her arms. The energy she was feeling now was gone.
"I'm glad that it worked on you. I wasn't sure when I sensed no Magic within you." Wendy admits after she landed beside the two.
"It was a long shot but at least it got results." Carla adds as she flies besides Wendy.
"Now that the ugly brigade is gone. Maybe we should do something about what they left for us." Wasp pointed to the fires, and everyone stares at the spreading flames engulfing the trees and land.
"You're right, we need to stop it from spreading." Lucy agrees but before anyone could do anything they saw something unexpected.
The flames lifted themselves and flew themselves to the mouth of one hungry Dragon Slayer.
The woman turned to see Natsu snacking on the flames that threatened the forest with Happy and Captain America behind him. The pink-haired man burps when all the fire has been consumed and flashes a toothy grin.
"So, what'd I miss?"
"NATSU!"
Lucy and Wendy scream in happiness as they launch themselves at the Fire Dragon Slayer. The combined force knocked him off his feet and three tumbled to the ground, crying tears of joy.
"CARLA!"
Happy, joyous tears in his eyes, flew straight at the white furred Exceed and hugged her. On any other day, Carla would've side stepped and not put up with it but after everything she's experienced. She needed a comforting hug, even if it was from Happy of all things.
"Huh? Another flying talking cat?" Wasp ponders, sauntering over to the heap of bodies on the ground, "But blue?"
The mages of Fairy Tail get up from the ground still clung but detach from each other soon enough. Although they were all ecstatic to see each other, Lucy and Wendy were stunned by the star-spangled man.
"Who's your new friend Natsu?" Lucy asks, engaged with the shield wielding Avenger.
"Oh, that's my new pal, Katherine Eureka." Natsu reveals.
The moment the name left the Dragon Slayer's mouth, Lucy knew it was wrong. She turned to look at 'Katherine Eureka' who held a flabbergasted expression. The Celestial Spirit Mage pitied the man but the same could not be said for Wasp, who was trying her hardest not to laugh.
"…It's Captain. Captain America." The star-spangled Avenger states after a moment to recollect himself. Same thing could not be said for his teammate.
"KATHERINE. EUREKA!" Wasp howls from the depths of her soul, crashing on the floor in a crazy fit of laughter. Everyone looks at her amused, even 'Katherine Eureka' himself cracked a smile.
"Falcon to Cap. Falcon to Cap."
Falcon's voice spoke out the First Avenger's I.D. Card and he quickly responded.
"Cap to Falcon. What's the situation?"
"I sent out a response and it looks like the other Avengers are in contact with the inhabitants of this island. Bad news is it looks like they're all fighting these hellspawn."
"But why? Where did these monsters come from and why are they attacking us?" Wendy exclaims, not understanding how these things were attacking them.
Captain America is in deep thought as he recounts everything he knows about these beasts. They were more a force of destruction than trained operatives with an agenda. Their main purpose had to have been to kill what was in sight by whoever sent them.
Just like with the servants of destructive Annihilus, back when he and the others were trapped in the Negative Zone.
The star-spangled Avenger says, "I'm not sure but if experience has taught me anything, there must be a boss somewhere on this island. It's a long shot but we have to wrangle these creatures into one spot to assess further."
The First Avenger faces the rest and the Fairy Tail wizards were listening to every word. They watch Cap put his hand on Natsu's shoulder, unaware that it was the one with his guild mark. He gazes into each of their eyes and continues to speak, "A united front between Avengers and Fairy Tail. If we have any chance to send these beasts back to hell."
Natsu may have had more time with him but there was just something about the man that resonated with him. The same could be said for the rest of his friends, they too took the words of a man they just met with ease.
"I already told you man. This is Fairy Tail's sacred ground. I'm not letting these creeps trample all over it," Natsu exclaims, his fists already ignited with roaring passion.
"I feel the same way," Lucy admits, her whip in hand.
"I'll do whatever I can," Wendy said, equipped with a determined face.
"Aye sir!" Happy responded.
"We'll do what we can," Carla states with determination matching her partner.
Wasp in turn just shrinks tiny and lands on her teammate's shoulders, a playful smile on her face.
"What's the plan Cap?" she says cheekily.
"The forest is too cramped, and we don't want to risk a forest fire. We need to drag them to the shoreline; the rocky formations should give us the advantage and space for a large group. Is that good for you guys?"
His response was the Fire Dragon Slayer punching his fists together, "I don't care where we are, as long as we can get rid of these things for good!"
The Salamander roars, charging into the forest.
"IT'S TIME TO GET FIRED UP!"
The others followed suit and ran straight through the clearing, or in Wasp and the Exceed's case, flew.
I.D. card still in hand, Captain America activated it to send a message, "Avengers, we're on our way to the northern shore. Everyone is to gather there so we can trap these beasts. Sending my coordinates now!"
"Easier said than done Cap!"
Iron Man grunts into his suit's communication as he takes an inferno from one of the fire monsters. Sweat poured down his face, the heat was palpable, but he stood his ground. The moment he saw the flames die down, he fired his repulsor ray straight through his assailant's chest, killing the beast instantly.
He let out a breath and opened his face plate to feel the cool air against his sweat trodden face. After a moment, he breathes in and fires up his foot thrusters, retracting his face plate.
The Armoured Avenger shouts to his two new acquaintances, "Hey! Anna! Elsa! We need to head north, my team is heading there and some of your people. Let's move it!"
A wave of water slashed through several of the fire monsters, dousing them to death. The crimson haired attacker was wearing armour resembling sea-life, with a sword to match before a flash of light engulfed her.
"I've told you my name is Erza. I'm not sure about this Anna person," Erza Scarlet states, transforming from her Sea Empress Armour to her regular Heart Kreuz armour. Her diverse Requip Magic: The Knight, allowing her to change from any one of her impressive magical armours.
Befuddlement was on her face by the odd names she was hearing from the man in armour she's never seen before.
"And I told you, that your Anna and your friend who can't keep his clothes on is the ever so famous Snow Queen?" Iron Man retorts, then turns around to the other inhabitant of the island, "By the way what is the deal about that? At least when your lady friend takes off her clothes, it's into other clothes."
Ice erupts from the ground, freezing the last of the fire monsters, the flames that made them be snuffed out. Leaving only burnt bone that shattered into fragile little pieces on the ground. The young man who froze them was completely naked from head to toe. The only noticeable details about him were his scruffy black hair, a scar above his left eye and a crossed one on his lower abdomen. The last two were his sword pendant and the mark of Fairy Tail on his right pectoral muscle.
"It's not like I do it on purpose. Don't like it, don't look shell-head," Gray Fullbuster sniped back as he looked unembarrassed about his clothing situation. Nonchalantly picking up his pants from the dirt.
"Also, who the hell is Anna and Elsa? You keep calling us that?" the practitioner of Ice Make Magic questions as he puts his pants on.
"The fact that neither of you know what I'm referencing is all I need to know that you're not from this world." Iron Man whispered under his breath, landing next to the two wizards.
"That doesn't matter right now." Erza spoke with authority, "We must regroup with our comrades and get to the bottom of why these creatures are attacking us?"
"Based on how they look, I can only think that we died, and this is hell?" Gray comments with a disingenuous tone.
"No, not hell. But these monsters came from somewhere and I have a good guess where and who sent them." Iron Man admits, shocking the other two.
The Armoured Avenger took a scan of the fire monsters and assessed their physiology. Comparing them to another known energy source he's familiar with, Asgardian Magic.
Iron Man roughly knew what these creatures were and most importantly, knew why they were on fire. He advises, "I'll fill you in when we're all together. Better clench up kids."
The Armoured Avenger took the hands of the two wizards, catching them by surprise and rockets off north. The high-speed flight nerved the two wizards as they hung onto Iron Man like their life depended on it.
Not too long, the three landed where they needed on the rocky terrain right next to the Hudson River. Iron Man was no worse for wear than his two impromptu passengers. Gray was on the floor catching his breath while Erza steeled herself but was still visibly shaken.
"So?" Iron Man drawls, "How would you rate Air Stark?"
What he got was an armoured fist down the head, stunning him briefly.
"What is wrong with you? Ask someone before you do that?!" Erza gives the Head of Stark Industries a full dressing down, making Gray sweat-drop at the Avenger's misfortune.
"Poor bastard," the Ice Make wizard thinks to himself.
"Alright She-Ra. I get it. No more free rides for you," Iron Man snaps back, rubbing the top of his helmet where he was hit. Somehow sore from the disciplinarian action.
"We need backup here!"
The three turn their heads to see Hawkeye and Black Widow running towards them, soot on their uniforms. There were others running behind them, please Gray and Erza, making them smile.
Right behind the former SHIELD Agents turned Avengers were their guildmates. Levy McGarden followed by Elfman and Lisanna Strauss, all running towards the desired meeting place.
Just above them is Ms. Marvel led the rest of their party in the air with urgency. Mirajane Strauss, transformed in her Take Over: Satan Soul. Lastly Gajeel Redfox, carried by his Exceed partner, Pantherlily. Both Mira's and Lily's wings, demonic and angelic, were flapping as fast they could.
Before they had a chance to call out, they soon saw what they were running from. When they saw smoke get thicker and nearer, they soon saw fire burst out through the treelines.
Instead of a handful of fire monsters, this looked to be an entire legion. Seeking to kill what was in their sights, which now included Iron Man and his two compatriots.
"What are you gawking for? Shoot them!" Hawkeye shouts as he swivels around and shoots a freezing arrow with little success. The ice is not cold enough against the monstrous heat.
Iron Man took to the skies and fired as many repulsor rays at the seemingly never-ending army.
Gray casts his Ice Cannon and shoots as many ice beams as possible at the infernal creatures.
Black Widow slips off an explosive charge from her belt and throws it towards the crowd of fire beasts. Before they made contact, Hawkeye shot an explosive arrow at it, doubling the explosion and incinerating a handful of fire monsters.
"Fly above 'em!" Gajeel orders as he takes a deep breath. Lily pulls his partner high in the air just above the legion of beasts and the Iron Dragon Slayer gives a mighty roar.
"IRON DRAGON ROAR!"
He let out a torrent of iron scraps shredded the monsters and blew the remains away. He and Lily share a smile.
Ms. Marvel maintains her position and fires off her cosmic beams. Frustrated by the waves of monsters incoming, she glanced at Mirajane who was firing off attack after attack. An idea sprouted and she flew by the she-demon's side.
"Together!" Ms. Marvel yells to Mira; cosmic energy already charged up. The white-haired woman nods in understanding, gathering dark energy into her palms. Focusing it and unleashes one of her most devastating spells.
"SOUL EXTINCTION!"
The she-demon's spell did as it was named, no fire monster was left standing after being hit by the demonic blast. Combined with the Avenger's cosmic beam, wiped out the rest of the army. Leaving nothing but ash and smoke behind.
The two women breathed heavily, both of their attacks taking its toll. Evident when Mirajane de-transformed and almost dropped to the ground if not for the high-flying Avenger. The two land safely on the slightly scorched gravel as both Fairy Tail mages and Avengers flock to them.
"That was pretty, MANLY, of you sis! You too shiny lady!" Elfman cheered with usual boisterous flair.
"Elfman's right! You two rock!" Lisanna commends.
Mirajane smiled with them as well as Ms. Marvel. Even if Elfman's exuberant personality threw her off a bit.
"I wore them down for you," Hawkeye lightly jokes as Ms. Marvel gives him an amused smirk.
"Geehee. If anything, it was Lily and I who loosened them up for them, tights," Gajeel chuckles, the archer taking offence to the nickname while Levy rolled her eyes.
"Whatever you say, Gajeel," Levy says disingenuously.
"Alright!" Widow announces, getting everyone's attention, "Everyone gets into position; these things are relentless and-…"
Bad fortune seemed to favour them as before the spy could finish, several more fire monsters launched out of the treeline. Much to the chagrin and exasperation of the Avengers and Fairy Tail wizards.
"These guys are relentless!" Lisanna groans.
"Alright everyone, blast them with everything you got!" Widow demands while reloading her gauntlets.
Before the fire monsters could even attempt to attack them, a white light shone, and the beasts were pulverised. Except there were no remains such as ash and bone, but the infernal creatures were reduced to being…tinier versions of themselves?
The Avengers were shocked by this, but they soon heard a rumble of some sorts and lightning zapped down from the sky. A scorching red laser beam accompanied it, both attacks destroying the shrunken fire beasts.
A few moments pass so everyone can process what they witnessed.
"Good work team," Hawkeye quips.
A ruffle is heard, and people stumble out of the bushes. The wizards immediately recognised their guildmates.
Newly found father-daughter duo; Gildarts Clive and Cana Alberona.
Following behind them was the Rain Woman; Juvia Lockser.
Laxus Dreyar and the Thunder Legion. Consisting of Freed Justine, Bickslow and Evergreen.
Next to his tall grandson was the Guild Master of Fairy Tail; Makarov Dreyar.
For the Avengers they took notice of Vision as he descended on the ground and stood with the approaching Fairy Tail members.
"Your Magic still bedevils me, Mr Clive. Why do they turn small when you break them apart?" Vision inquires which got a shrug from the S-Class wizard.
"Dunno? Can't be used to kill living beings so I guess it's a fair trade," Gildarts admits sheepishly, "Also, you don't have to be so formal, just call me Gildarts."
"Affirmative," Vision robotically responded, raising the eyebrows of his compatriots. They all immediately think of the same thing.
"Is this guy a robot?"
They're snapped out of their thoughts and turn to greet the rest of their members, both heroes and wizards. The latter are happier to see another group of their guild alive but their Master raises his hand.
"It's good to see you all well but who are we missing?" Makarov addresses.
"I think we're just missing out on Lucy, Wendy, Carla, Happy…and Flame-Brain," Gray counts off, taking a moment, sighing the last name.
"Probably snacking on these things as we speak," Gajeel snickers.
"That's…. probably true," Levy wants to scold her partner but concedes, knowing her fiery guildmate too well.
"Well, whoever they are, they have to be with the rest of our team," Hawkeye claims.
"Let's not dawdle, we need to get back to our vantage points before more of those things come-…!" Black Widow was once again interrupted when a fiery explosion occurred.
They snap their attention to the new smouldering crater that formed and familiar figures standing before them.
A familiar voice to the Fairy Tail guild spoke with a cocky tone, "I told you I had 'em!"
Another voice, recognised by the Avengers, spoke but with a more stern tone, "Did you really need to go that far, there were only two of them?"
"That's just Natsu, Mr America," a smaller voice chimes in.
An exuberant voice also chimes in, "Wendy, don't you mean Mr Eureka?"
"…thank you, Wasp," the stern voiced male states in a huff.
Natsu, Captain America and the rest of their party were in plain view of everyone with Falcon dropping on the ground next to them. The flying Avenger scoping out everyone.
"Looks like that's everyone," the bird-themed Avenger deducts.
What happened next was a blur for the Avengers as they tried to avoid getting squashed.
With all members of Fairy Tail on Tenrou Island now reunited, it was a series of hugs, an overzealous one between Juvia and a less enthused Gray.
Handshakes, hair ruffling and fist bumps which evolved into actual punching by two certain knuckleheads. Until a certain scarlet haired wizard broke them up.
A whistle got their attention, and the wizards turned to see Captain America on an elevated rock. He commanded, "I know you're all happy to be reunited but this island is still under siege. Can anyone see or hear those monsters coming."
"I've been scanning for them but getting zilch. I think we got them all," Iron Man declares.
"Wait," Natsu takes a few sniffs and cups his ears, "I'm hearing something?"
"Me too." Gajeel adds
"It kind of sounds like…stomping?" Wendy claims, also hearing a strange noise that was getting louder.
STOMP! STOMP! STOMP!
Soon everyone was hearing the stomping and felt it as the ground shook.
"Great, is there another magical island appearing?!" Hawkeye snaps, using his bow to support himself.
They all felt a dreadful heatwave hit them and gaze upon what was making it. Eyes widened at what they saw.
It was different than the monsters they fought, more humanoid than bestial but on fire all the same. It carried a blazing mace and had the same dead look on their face.
Not to mention that it looked to be the size of all the fire monsters they slew combined. The blazing behemoth towered over the Avengers and Fairies, giving a mighty roar.
"…. that's not an island." Wasp whispers.
The fiery giant bellowed and raised it's mace to strike a blow on the island's inhabitants but a crack of thunder caught it's attention.
It wasn't the only one as everyone in the vicinity heard a rumbling happen in the sky. Seeing a storm cloud form over Tenrou Island.
Which could only mean one thing to the Avengers.
"Another thunderstorm!" Pantherlily plugs his ears, scared out of his mind of having to face thunder so soon.
"Wait until you see what follows." Captain America comments with a smirk on his face which intrigued and confused the fairies.
Just then a stroke of thunder boomed onto the island, piercing the fire giant through its chest. Killing it instantly in the form of disintegration by lightning.
The fairies gapped in comic shock. Wondering if Mother Nature decided to step in. The Avengers however knew it was not Mother Nature that saved them but a God.
The God of Thunder.
"Hail my friends."
Everyone looked to see the newest arrival to the island and saw a muscular man, hair shining like the sun with stormy eyes. Dressed in black armour, chainmail, wing-tipped helmet with a flowing red cape.
In his hand was what could be confused as just a tiny Warhammer. It would be their mistake as that little hammer held a deep unrelenting power.
This was Thor Odinson. The Mighty. Prince of Asgard. Avenger.
"It seems you've been partying without me," Thor let out a hearty laugh as he landed.
The Avengers rush to him and welcome him back after so long, while the wizards are dazed by the Asgardian's appearance.
"Looks like there was another one of these Avengers," Makarov deduces.
"Yeah, a powerful one," Laxus says, sensing that the latest Avenger was stronger than he seemed.
"A handsome one," Evergreen seductively smirks.
"A manly one!" Elfman claims with stars in his eyes.
The fairies make their way to the Avengers and catch a part of their conversation.
"-…so, these things were also attacking the city?" Wasp frantically states.
"Aye," Thor answers, "They were sent to unleash chaos on the land, but I suppose this island attracted them more. Leaving the city with only the stragglers that I was able to vanquish."
Thor gazes at the titanic tree that eclipsed the island and senses it held great power. Not just the tree but the entire island was rich with an essence familiar to Thor, from the rocks to the air to the inhabitants.
"So, Thor? I'm guessing you didn't just decide to pop in because you felt like it. Tell me, are these things why you had to take an extended vacation?" Iron Man asks with a serious tone.
Thor is taken out of his thoughts, and everyone notices a grave expression wash over him. The Asgardian turns to face his comrades and speaks, "Surtur is close to enacting Ragnarök."
Whoever Surtur went over Fairy Tail's heads, but seeing the reactions of the other Avengers was all they needed to know that it wasn't anything good.
"How close?" Captain America asks with trepidation.
Thor responds, "No word comes yet. Surtur is regaining his strength with the Twilight Sword, so he can challenge Asgard directly. Tis only a matter of time."
"So, these things were his subjects?" Ms. Marvel questions but she already knows the answer.
"Aye. Fire Demons have been scorching the realm tree asunder. Midgard is their newest hunting ground," Thor replies.
"Lovely," Wasp drawls.
"So, what do we do now?" Falcon asks with urgency. "We're sitting ducks."
"Don't worry friend. Fire Demons can't so easily cross into Midgard, so we have time to prepare." Thor states, alleviating the Avengers, "Now then."
Thor takes his first look at the wizards of Fairy Tail who are briefly startled. Them not wanting to interrupt the discussion, feeling out of place.
The Thunder God speaks, "Aren't you going to introduce me?"
It was quite the morning for the Avengers.
They woke up, dealt with an earthquake, travelled to an exotic island, met the locals. Fought monsters trying to bring the Twilight of the Gods.
All in a day's work.
Now once the dust has settled and welcoming back their member, they could finally sit down and rap with the wizards. Fully explaining who they were and what attacked their home.
To say they were astonished that Thor was a God was an understatement. Having to stop Natsu and Happy from praying at Thor's feet.
"So, Asgardians are Gods but not really?" Lucy tried to grasp what she was being told.
"More like they're really advanced aliens who graced our humble ancestors a few centuries ago and things got misunderstood," Iron Man quickly explained.
"Centuries?" Erza whispers in awe, "How old are you exactly?"
"I am just shy of fifteen-hundred, Lady Scarlet," Thor answers with a slight smile.
Being called that title by the handsome Asgardian, reduced Erza to match her namesake. Blushing so hard, she was letting out smoke.
"That's… a long time," she sputters, making everyone chuckle.
"Goodness, to be in the presence of a being that's nothing more than a fairy tale. Remarkable." Makarov comments, getting everyone's attention.
"Wait. Hold up!" Falcon declares, "How do you know Thor?"
This made the Guild Master of Fairy Tail raise an eyebrow, along with some guild members.
"Well, he's a fairy tale in Earthland. I have read about his adventures since I was a boy." Makarov admits, now making Thor raise an eyebrow.
"Earthland?" Thor ponders, thinking back to the days of old. Where he was a proud arrogant prince of Asgard. Going on adventures with his friends and his… brother.
"Aye," Thor shakes out of those thoughts, addressing the others, "I have indeed been to your home, Earthland."
"For real!" Gray exclaims.
"Talk about coincidence," Hawkeye whispered to Black Widow.
"If you've been there before, can you help us get back?" Wendy hopefully asks the Thunder God, who shakes his head.
"I apologise but I have not been to your world in over six centuries. It was only the slightest chance that we even stumbled upon it. Even Heimdall couldn't see it with his sight," the Thunderer laments.
"What do you mean by chance?" Levy questions.
Thor ponders aloud, "From what I recall, Earthland exists within its own dimensional realm. As with other mystical planes of existence, I have yet to venture."
"So, it's like Edolas?" Happy states, confusing the Asgardian.
"Winged-Feline. What do you know?" Thor inquires but Carla steps in.
The other winged-feline explains, "Edolas is the exact mirror to Earthland but the denizens lack the ability to use Magic."
"The Kingdom of Edolas wanted to extract Magic from Earthland, so they created the Anima to do just that. Which is the only thing I know of to travel between worlds," Pantherlily adds.
"So, you've been to another world without Magic before? That's good, you already have experience breaking through inter-dimensional barriers." Iron Man comments.
"What do you mean by extracting Magic?" Wasp asks, which made some members of Fairy Tail groan.
"That's a long story," Lucy says with a strained smile.
Before anything else could be discussed, a whistle was blown. Everyone turned to the star-spangled Avenger who examined, "While this is all interesting, we can focus on that later. What we need to find out is how this island crossed over here?"
The First Avenger turns to Natsu who was mostly silent and motioned for him to talk. He continues to talk, "Before we were interrupted you were going to explain what happened before your guild got here. You mentioned something about a monster, was that who injured you all and sent you here?"
The moment he stopped talking was when he noticed the change in the Fire Dragon Slayer's demeanour. His pupils dilated and he was shaking either from rage or was it fear?
The rest of Fairy Tail didn't fare much better. It was almost as if their souls left their bodies, and they became ashen empty husks.
"Perhaps I should start from the beginning," Makarov said, putting himself in front of Natsu.
It was a pretty interesting tale for the Avengers.
Learning about the magical Guilds in Earthland were something akin to fantasy games like Dungeons & Dragons. Which Iron Man didn't waste any time in pointing out, much to Fairy Tail's confusion.
When Makarov got to the S Class Trials, Hawkeye and Black Widow couldn't help but remark how tame SHIELD promotions were in comparison.
Then the unexpected ambush of Grimoire Heart really got the Avengers engaged.
"So, this Grimoire Heart guild were magical supremacists?" Captain America inquires.
"That's a fair assessment I suppose," Makarov replies, not open to reveal more about the Dark Guild. Specifically their master, Hades.
"Sounds like these guys were Death Eater fans?" Ms. Marvel states, confusing the wizards.
"If you defeated them then how did you get here? They didn't have any last resort in case they were defeated, right?" Widow contemplates but the short guild master shakes his head.
"No, they were defeated and left the island by the time that beast appeared?!" Makarov spat out.
He continued by telling them of a Black Dragon that descended from the skies. A ravenous heathen who without prompting, attacked his beloved guild and unleashed an attack that could've killed them. Or at least it should've killed them?
"We tried to set up a defensive spell but that's the last thing I can remember," Makarov finishes.
"So, this dragon just showed up out of nowhere just to kill you guys?" Wasp says unsurely.
"What'd you do to piss it off?" Iron Man airily asks only to get angry glares.
"That monster doesn't need an excuse to destroy! I went up against that devil before and took nearly all my being to live another day!" Gildarts shouts with righteous fury.
The Armoured Avenger continues to question, "Maybe but isn't it bizarre it went through all that trouble? Unless the big lizard is unsatisfied with not finishing the job, why attack the rest of your guild?"
That got Fairy Tail to think hard about what happened to them. Grimoire Heart needed to find the Black Wizard but what did the Black Dragon want. Could they be related?
"Wait a minute, Natsu, aren't you a Dragon Slayer? I've seen what you could do, couldn't your Magic do something?" Falcon asks the Salamander and immediately notices an emotional shift.
Natsu adopts an irritated snarl from his passive expression and looks to be ready to growl a response. However, after a moment, he just turns his head in shame. Confusing the Avengers and worrying his guildmates.
"Yes, Natsu is a Dragon Slayer but even with three others, that beast is too much for any wizard," Makarov came to Natsu's defence but that didn't alleviate his shame. Along with the other Dragon Slayers.
"Dragon Slayer?" Thor repeats, the term familiar to him, "You are a Dragon Slayer?"
That only served to annoy Natsu further, snapping back at the Asgardian, "Yeah, what of it?!"
"I was unaware, do not fret my friend. Even the Dragon Slayers I fought with couldn't vanquish Dragons as easily." Thor reasons which got the attention of the resident Dragon Slayers.
"You know other Dragon Slayers?" Gajeel asks, astonished.
"From the past?" Wendy breathes out.
"Aye. Did you think you were the only ones?" Thor asks them. They didn't answer but the stuttered silence was enough to answer his question. He ponders another question, "That's troublesome. Tell me, how did the war end?"
For the umpteenth time that day, everyone was shocked by what they were learning.
"War?" Wendy gasps, further confusing Thor.
The Thunderer queries, "I know it's been some years but given the scale, I would think Earthland would still remember such a savage time. Wouldn't your dragons at least teach you your history?"
The Fire, Iron and Sky Dragon Slayers looked at each other. The rest of Fairy Tail shifting uncomfortably as they feel inadequate to talk about such a topic.
"Our dragons disappeared. Seven years ago." Natsu reveals after taking a deep breath.
"They never told us about any war." Wendy states.
"Don't even know where they are." Gajeel growls.
The Avengers were surprised that there were Dragons and Dragon Slayers, but it was overridden with sympathy. Their hearts went out to the Dragon Slayers, but something was on their minds.
"Wait a minute, your Dragon Slayers but your teachers are Dragons?" Iron Man asks astounded, "Isn't that kind of self-defeating?"
"Nay Stark. Those who use that breed of Magic were given it to fight against the onslaught of ravenous Dragons. Or so I heard," Thor explained.
This latest piece of information gave the current Dragon Slayer's pause. They were never told why they were being taught Dragon Slayer Magic and they didn't think too much about it.
Were their parents preparing them to take the lives of dragons?
"So that's why Dragon Slayer Magic exists?" Lucy ponders aloud, having never thought about it too hard when Happy explained it to her when they first met.
"Starting to see why, now that we know how nasty dragons can get," Laxus bitterly remarks, thinking about the close call they had not too long ago. His hand unconsciously rested on the spot where his Dragon Slayer Lacrima was.
Thor gains the attention of the Dragon Slayers by putting a hand on Natsu's shoulder.
"I know this is a lot to learn in one day and I'll oblige to tell you more but perhaps we should talk more about your current predicament," Thor states and before the Dragon Slayer's could respond, his guild master begins to speak.
Makarov states, "He's right, my boy. I know you three have questions about your parentage, but we need to focus on the matter at hand. Why we are here in a land with no Magic?"
That got everyone thinking. From what Fairy Tail told them, it seems that black dragon is the only thing to have sent them to this land. But for what reason?
Natsu is broken out of his thoughts when he catches a strange new scent, as did the other Dragon Slayers. They look down and Fairy Tail follows suit as they see golden sparks encircling every guild member's feet.
"What are you guys doing?" Wasp asks, pointing at the rings of golden sparks.
"This isn't us I'm afraid?" Makarov admits nervously.
Just then the rings beneath them opened and every single member of Fairy Tail fell to a place unknown. Not one Avenger managed to grab anyone before the portals closed completely.
Silence fills the air.
Hawkeye exclaims, "What the hell was that?!"
"Where'd they go?!" Ms. Marvel shouts, her hands charging with cosmic energy.
"Thor is this Surtur?" Captain America alarmingly asks his teammate.
"Nay Captain. This sorcery is unfamiliar to me." The Asgardian admits, the portals were different to the ones he's seen.
"I got something."
The Avengers turn to Black Widow who was inspecting the ground and scoops something up.
It was a paper card that seemingly appeared out of nowhere.
"Is that a business card? Classy," Iron Man mutters, not amused.
The spy read it over and was stumped for a moment before facing her teammates, she divulges "I know where they are."
"Where are they?" Falcon requests and is handed the business card. Reading it out loud for everyone to hear so they can go save their new friends.

To get this out of the way I've only ever uploaded two fanfics and they remain incomplete due to losing interest. So fair warning I may not be able to write as much as I want for this story which is why this is being treated as proof of concept. A one shot to get buzz and gain some insight from fans who love both series which may help me plan the rest of this thing. Unlike my other fics, this one I went in with a plan and a bulk of the story is mapped out so I won't lose myself. Now not all of it is subject to change and I'll be asking for a second opinon on some concepts. Like which FT character pairs up with a Marvel character. Now with that over, let me move on to other things.
For a long time I've been wanting to have a good FT crossover fic. I got one in the form of Fairy May Cry and as good as it is, I've never played DMC so I felt connected to those characters at the start. I read plenty of good crossovers but not one for FT until a few years ago, I stumbled on a FT X Ultimate Spider-Man crossover on . It was charming and I wondered how the Tenrou Team would interact with heroes like the Avengers and Heroes for Hire. This fic is the reason why I decided to have Tenrou Island be transported.
The idea stuck with me for a while and a little over a year ago, I started cracking on the outline for this idea. Nothing serious at first but it was getting to the point, I just couldn't let this be an idea anymore and needed to put it out there. I'm a creative person but I have so much on my mind that it get's hard to focus. If I'm not drawing, I'm writing. If I'm not writing, I'm animating, etc. It gets hard to keep on task which is why my aforementioned fanfics are left unfinished.
But I owe it to myself to at least try even if updating will probably be a nightmare. I'm looking for work at the moment but I am occupied with other pursuits. Like working with a friend to get a pilot of ours ready for Film Festivals.
This is fic is for love of the game so it's not my biggest commitment especially because I don't have the whole story mapped out. Phase One is planned out, spoilers but it ends with Surtr as the big bad. Phase Two will end the first iteration of the story which is somewhat planned out. Beyond that is anyone's guess, it would definetely be a sequel to this fic as it would focus on FT after the GMG arc and interacting with the Marvel universe after seven years have passed. But that's for much later, I am focused on getting Phase One written so I have something to show for myself.
I am using this fic to kind of rewrite FT from Tenrou Island arc onwards as I think we all feel that some plot points didn't reach their potential. So combine with that with the lore of Marvel and the sky's the limit for explaining some characters and plot points. Zeref is one character who will be given this treatment in regards to his backstory...if I get that far.
This fic is going to be slightly episodic so it'll focus on certain characters for a number of chapters. So everyone can get a chance in the limelight.
The first chapter itself took me about a month or two but I did start it back in December of last year. I just worked on it consistently after August. I chose EMH as the template for Marvel characters because I adore it and think it's the best iteration of the Avengers. Though other Marvel media will have some relevance with some changes, in regards to characters who haven't shown up in EMH. Like Dr Strange.
Acnologia hasn't been name dropped yet but will eventually. Also Thor has been to Earthland before, but as established he doesn't know how the Dragon War ends so he doesn't know Acnologia. The Dragon Slayer's history and lore is one of the things I'm going to expand on.
Also Fairy Tail can use Magic on Earth for a reason which will be explained soon.
With all that said, tell me what you think of this chapter. What you liked, what you disliked, any headcanons?
Kudos to DTsimison, who was the Beta Reader for this chapter. Thanks to them, I have a better grasp in grammer and formatting.
I'm crossposting this on A03 as well for those who want to follow it there.
