Hey everyone. This is gonna be my first story based on the anime: Sonic X. The story is slightly inspired by the Ratchet & Clank video game franchise. Note that I don't own Sonic X, only my OCs. Gear the Fox is voiced by James Arnold Taylor who does the voice of Ratchet and Sprocket is voiced by David Kaye who does the voice of Clank.
Chaos Control: The Adventure Begins
Welcome to planet Mobius, a world inhabited by anthropomorphic animals. It was notably home to it's protector, Sonic the Hedgehog. He along with his friends had many adventures and have always protected Mobius from villains such as the evil Doctor Eggman and his army of robots. We now go to a village called Green Hill and to a garage nearby. Inside, we see a young fox about 15 years of age inside. The fox has yellow fur with a white muzzle and light blue eyes. His attire consists of an orange t-shirt, brown gloves, and brown shoes. The fox's name is Gear. Although he doesn't have any parents, Gear grew up as a mechanic on Mobius and would spent his time repairing different types of vehicles. Though not really that inventive, Gear has also created a wrist-mounted grappling hook to allow him to get around different places. Gear is currently fixing up a space ship using a big wrench he calls the "MegaWrench". After tightening a bolt in the ship, Gear stops clearly exhausted.
"Phew" he said while wiping the sweat off his forehead "I guess I'll stop for now"
Gear walks over to a nearby cupboard and takes out a water bottle. He opens it and begins to drink. Gear then looks at a poster that shows Sonic the Hedgehog. Now Gear was a big fan of the blue hedgehog. He has heard stories about him and has even witnessed Sonic and his friends battle against Doctor Eggman a few times. Because of that, Gear longed to be a hero like his idol and someday fight alongside him.
"Someday, I want to be just like him" he said with a sigh
Meanwhile in the fortress of the notorious Dr. Eggman, his robots has just pushed a rabbit named Cream and a Chao called Cheese in front of the mad doctor himself
"Well. If it isn't Cream and Cheese" Doctor Eggman said with an evil grin. "So nice of you to join us"
The frightened rabbit and her friend both hug each other with fright in their eyes.
"Decoe! Bocoe!" Dr Eggman called out
Just then, two robots run in. Decoe is tall yellow robot and Bocoe is a small gray robot
"Yes, doctor?" they asked
"Get to work on making me a new army of robots! " Doctor Eggman ordered
"Yes sir!" his two robot henchmen said as they race off
"This time, Sonic won't be able to stop me and my latest plan to conquer the world!" Doctor Eggman said as he lets out an evil laugh that echoes in the fortress
Back in Gear's garage, the young fox mechanic was still getting to work on fixing the ship. Just then, someone came inside
"Hi Gear"
Gear turns to see a female Echidna in front of him. She has light blue fur with a peached muzzle and purple eyes with long eyelashes. She even has some locks that falls in the back of her head She was wearing a pink t-shirt, a red short skirt, a silver bracelet on her left wrist, and blue boots. Her body is a bit slender which makes her a little attractive and she has a tail sticking out from the back of her skirt also. Her name is Tika. She is Gear's childhood friend. They use to go on many adventures in Mobius when they were young and while Gear won't admit it, he secretly has a crush on Tika.
"Oh! Hey Tika" Gear greeted with a blush "What brings you here?"
"Just dropping by to pay my good friend a visit" Tika answered with a giggle "So. How are you doing with that ship?"
"It's doing okay. I had just finish tightening the bolts as much as can. But I couldn't help but notice that something is missing" Gear answered
"Did you check the engine?" Tika asked
"Yep" Gear replied
"What about the thrusters?" Tika asked
"I check those too and other parts of the ship" Gear replied as he starts to look at the poster of Sonic. Tika notice this
"You know, Gear. You can be a hero just like Sonic" she said as she walked next to the fox mechanic
"That was always my dream, Tika. But I'm not sure if I'm good enough. I'm not like Sonic. I don't have superspeed like him and all I do is fix things" Gear replied sadly
"Hey. You don't have to be like Sonic to be a hero. I've seen you use your wrench for other things aside from fixing and I've seen how athletic you were when you were outside." Tika said as she places a hand on Gear's shoulder. "You can be your own hero if you put your mind to it"
Gear smiled at the comfort his friend was giving him. "Thanks, Tika"
"Hey, what are friends for?" Tika asked. "So, do you want to go out on a walk with me?"
"I would love to, Tika. But I have to make a few adjustments to the ship" Gear replied "Some other time okay?"
"Oh. Okay. I guess I'll see you later then, Gear" Tika said as she heads out before waving at her friend
"Bye" Gear said as he waves his hand
'Someday, I'm going to confess my feelings to her' he thought dreamily
'I just wish that I can tell Gear how I feel about him' Tika thought as she looks back at the garage before walking off
Back in Dr. Eggman's fortress, Decoe and Bocoe have gotten to work on creating an army of robots for Dr. Eggman's latest plot. They were pushing buttons and pulling levers to operate some machines as the robots are being created as the assembly line moves them from place to place. Doctor Eggman then comes in
"How goes my army, you two" Dr. Eggman asked
"Everything is going according to your instructions, doctor" replied Decoe
"Yes. Once we finish building the last of the robots, we shall began our plan to conquer this planet" Bocoe added
"Our plan?" Dr Eggman said with a frown
"I-I mean your plan. Yeah that's right. Your plan" Bocoe corrected hastily
"That's what I thought" Dr. Eggman said
Suddenly, one of the machine begins to malfunction which stops the assembly
"What's going on?!" Dr. Eggman demanded
"The machine appears to have malfunctioned, sir" Decoe replied
"Well, go fix it then!" yelled Dr. Eggman
"Yes, doctor!" the two robots yelled as they rush over to the machine and begins to use some tools to fix it. Unbeknownst to the two, the machine begins to show a picture of a robot that is different from the other robots. Once Eggman's two henchbots were finished with repairs, they went back to the console.
"Is it fixed!?" Eggman asked impatiently
"All fixed, doctor" Bocoe replied
"Now let's get back to work" Decoe added
As the two robots worked on the assembly line again, the machine then produce another robot. But this one is different compared to the other big robots. This robot is shown to be very small, with closed circular eyes, a green antennae, and small articulated arms and legs with large four-fingered hands and feet. The robot was shown to be made of some kind of white metallic titanium alloy and a rectangular vent on his chest. While going through the assembly, the small little robot opens his eyes to reveal them glowing green.
"Where am I?" he asked as he rubbed his eyes
As the assembly went on, a nearby camera was scanning the other robots until it got to the small robot. Just then an alarm went off after scanning the robot
"Warning! Defect detected! Prepare for immediate termination" a computerized voice said
"A defect!? How did this happened?!" Dr Eggman yelled
"I don't know" answered Bocoe
"It must've happened during our attempts to repair the machine" Decoe said
"This won't do at all!" Eggman screamed. "Bokkun!"
A small black humanoid robot with yellows eyes flies in. He was wearing a jetpack, white gloves, a belt with a large yellow "M" in the middle, and red boots. This is Bokkun, Eggman's messenger.
"Yes Dr. Eggman?" Bokkun asked
"Get rid of this defect" Dr. Eggman ordered
"Right away!" the messenger bot said as he flew to the assembly line. He then flew in front of the defect.
"Hello" the defect said as he waves at Bokkun
"Hello, fellow robot. It's a pleasure to meet you. Too bad I have to destroy you now" Bokkun said
The defect grew shocked as he heard the last part. Bokkun then took out a bomb and threw it at the small robot. Knowing that he is in danger, the defect immediately hops off the assembly line and made a run for it as the bomb missed him.
"Hey! Get back here!" shouted Bokkun as he used his jetpack to chase the defect
The defective robot continue to run as Bokkun continues to bombard him with several bombs. The defect then ran out of the room as the messenger robot continues to chase him. As the defect continue to run through the halls, he notices a nearby vent. He rushed over and went inside.
"Hey! No fair!" Bokkun yelled
"Whoa!" the defect cried as he slid through the vents. He then came out of the other end of the vent and skids on the ground. The defect groans as he picks himself up. He then spots a nearby ship and goes over to it. Bokkun then came in just in time to see the robot getting inside the ship and blasting off
Bokkun then ran back to Dr. Eggman and Decoe and Bocoe to inform them about what happened
"The defect escaped!?" Dr Eggman asked angrily
"I'm afraid so, Dr. Eggman. He stole one your ships and took off" Bokkun said
"What do we do now?" asked Decoe
"Send all available robots after that shuttle! I want that defect brought down!" Dr. Eggman commanded
Meanwhile in the night sky, the small defect was flying the stolen ship to get away from the fortress. Suddenly, something hit his ship
"That is not good" he said as he saw three bogeys in his screen
As it turns out, three robots are piloting other ships and have been sent by Dr. Eggman to bring the stolen ship down. One of them fires a laser at the defect's ship, but he dodges it. Then the second ship attempts to fire a missile at it, but the defect also dodges it. But then the third ship then unleashes several heat seeking missiles from it's cannon towards the defect. The defect tries to dodge the missiles, but the missiles were still hot on his trail. And then, the missiles hit the back of the ship causing the ship to go down.
Back in Green Hill, Gear had just stepped out of his garage while wiping himself with a towel after putting another day of hard work on the ship. That's when he notice something falling from the sky and into the forest.
"What was that?" he asked curiously
After equipping his grappling hook to his wrist, Gear took his hover scooter and drives over to the forest. He then flew past a large purple cat that was just getting ready to fish. Next to him is a little green frog.
'I don't know what that was, but it's worth investigating' he thought
Gear then parked his bike in front of the entrance to the forest as he wants to get some exercise himself. Travelling on foot through the forest, Gear begins to bash away some nearby branches in his way. Gear even hopped on some ledges and made use of his grappling hook to swing across large gaps in the forest. As he continues to run through the forest, he hid behind a tree as he saw some robots searching the forest with weapons in their hands. Some even have searchlights. Gear immediately know who those robots belong to.
"Eggman's robots? What are they doing here?" he wondered "I guess they must be after whatever crash landed here."
Before Gear can ponder some more, something pointed it's gun in his back. Fortunately thanks to his reflex, Gear bashed someone behind him back with his wrench. He then turns to see that it was one of Eggman's robots. The robot attempts to blast him with it's blaster, but Gear flips out of the way. After dodging the attacks two more times, Gear runs up to the robot and uses his MegaWrench to bash the robot several times and then kicks it away leaving it's weapon behind. The robot then deactivates as Gear looks at the weapon.
"Hmm. This blaster looks like it can come in handy. I'll take it" the fox said as he picks up the weapon and continues on his way.
Along the way, Gear finds himself bashing away some bug like robots called Moto Bugs. He even made some use of his newly acquired blaster to take out other robots in the area as he continues through he forest. After grappling past another gap and going deeper into the forest, Gear comes across a crater. Upon walking closer, he notices a ship that has just crash landed with and a small robot lying unconscious next to it. Walking up to the robot, Gear could see that he is slightly damaged. Although he is a robot, the young fox sees that he doesn't seem dangerous compared to the other robots that work for Eggman. After making his decision, Gear picks up the small robot and begins to make his way out of the forest.
Getting back on his scooter, Gear took the small robot back to Green Hill. He then went back to his garage and took the unconscious robot inside. Gear then takes a look at the small robot and notices that the robot's outer shell wasn't damage, but the joints on the left arm is a little broken. After fixing the robot as much as he can, Gear went back to doing some maintenance on the space ship. As he was doing that, the small defective robot woke up and sees that he is on some kind of table. The robot then notices Gear still working on the ship.
"Hello" the robot greeted
Gear heard that and turn to see the robot had just woken up. He stops his work on the ship and walks over to the table
"Hey there. I see you're awake. That's good" the fox said
"Thank you. You are quite handy with that wrench" the robot said
"Thanks. I call it my MegaWrench. It's useful for fixing and bashing enemies" Gear replied
"Interesting" the robot said. He then looked around at his surrounding. "What is this place?"
"This is my garage. It's both my home and a place to fix vehicles of any kind." Gear answered
"I see. How did I get here?" the robot asked
"I brought you here. I saw you lying in that crater in the forest with that ship. I notice that you were slightly damaged so I fixed you up as much as I can" Gear replied "Oh by the way, my name is Gear. What's yours?"
"I suppose my given designation is Badnik Defect B542917" the small defective robot replied
"That's kinda long. Why don't I just call you Sprocket?" Gear suggested
"Sprocket? I like it" the defect now nicknamed Sprocket said
Gear then put his hand out in front of Sprocket. He looks at it confused
"Here like this" Gear said as he grabs Sprocket's hand and shake it up and down "Up. Down. Up. Down"
After they finish shaking hands, Gear then asked Sprocket
"So Sprocket, do you have anywhere to stay? Anyplace I can drop you off?"
"I don't believe I have anywhere to go. I am alone" Sprocket said as he looks down
Gear frowned at this and then gets an idea
"Why don't you stay with me? I could always use the company"
"I would like that" Sprocket answered with a smile
Just then, an alarm went off
"What is that?" Gear asked
"That appears to be an alarm going off" Sprocket said
"I guess I'll have to check that out" Gear said
He races to his hover scooter and begins to push it outside. The fox then turns to Sprocket
"Are you coming?" he asked
"Yes. I will" Sprocket answered as he hops off the table and follows after the fox mechanic
Outside of Green Hill, Tika had just raced out of her home as she had also heard the alarm. Just then Gear and Sprocket both rode past her on the hover scooter.
"Gear? But who is that with him?" she asked
Tika then begins to follow after them
As Gear and Sprocket were riding through the forest, a blue blur race past them
"What was that?" asked Sprocket
"I know that blue blur anywhere" Gear said with a smile "It's Sonic the Hedgehog"
"Sonic the Hedgehog? Isn't he that hero with super speed?" asked Sprocket
"The very same" Gear replied
Meanwhile at Dr. Eggman's fortress, lights were turned on and three robots called E-30 Laser tanks were driving forward as Sonic was running towards the base. As he was doing that, the robots stops and a gate closes. Then several other robots along with the E-30 robots were in position to defend the fortress. As the blue hedgehog got near, the robots begin to fire lasers at him. Luckily, Sonic was able to dodge their attacks. He was even able to outrun several missiles from the turret robots as well. As Sonic was running deeper into the base, two other robots called the E-12 Behemoth comes out of the ground which caused Sonic to stop. He then turns left as the two robots chase him. Sonic runs through a tunnel of the fortress as one of the E-12 Behemoth chases him. Then another E-12 Behemoth crashed in through a wall causing Sonic to skid and race through a nearby exit. Just as the blue hedgehog left the tunnel, a third E-12 Behemoth robot smashed out of the tunnel. Just then, Sonic steps on a plate with Eggman's face on it and gets sprung up into the air making him scream. The third E-12 Behemoth then got into position and pounds the blue hedgehog, causing him to fly even farther upwards. Up in the air, a plane flew towards the fortress. The one piloting the plane is an amber fox with two tails and the one in the passenger seat is a pink hedgehog. They are Miles "Tails" Prower and Amy Rose, two of Sonic's friends.
"Sonic!" Tails cried
Just as the plane got closer, the turret robots begins to fire at the plane. They hit the plane two times while leaving holes in the plane. Another attack caused Amy to close her eyes. As the plane flew away from the fortress, it then catches fire
"Tails! The plane's on fire! What are we gonna do?!" Amy asked in alarm
"We're gonna save Sonic!" replied Tails as he pulls the lever forward.
Then, the plane fires a rocket which opens to reveal a ring that goes towards Sonic.
Back in the forest, Gear and Clank were still going through the forest when they saw a bright light that nearly blinds them.
"What happened?" asked Sprocket
"I don't know. But I'm getting the feeling that Sonic is about to power up" Gear replied with a smirk
Gear was correct as Sonic, having gotten the ring, begins to Super Spin and then begins to tear through the every defense the fortress has. He then Spin Dashes into the two E-12 Behemoths. The third one attempts to slam him on the ground, but the blue hedgehog tore through it and hit a nearby light. Back with Amy and Tails, they were descending down and is about to make a very rough landing
"Hang on, Amy!" yelled Tails
Amy yelled as she notices the plane coming near a big rock
"We're gonna... CRASH!"
"I KNOW!" yelled Tails
But before they can crash, someone punches the rock and destroys it, causing the plane to slow down and stop. Tails and Amy both open their eyes to see a red echidna standing on a rock. This is Knuckles the Echidna
"Knuckles!" Tails said
"Hmph!" the red echidna grunted as he looks at the fortress
"What's the matter with him?" Amy asked
Knuckles watches some smoke coming from the fortress
"Overkill. Just like always." he said
Nearby, Gear and Clank rode over and stopped a little closer to the fortress. They then got off and looks at the fortress
"The alarm is coming from that fortress" Gear said
"That is not just any fortress. That belongs to Doctor Eggman" Sprocket informed with a frown
"How do you know that?" Gear asked
"I was created there" Sprocket
"You were created by Doctor Eggman!?" Gear said shocked
"Yes. But the doctor ordered my termination so I escaped. I stole one of his ships and got away, but I was shot down" Sprocket explained
"Which is how I met you in the forest." Gear said. "Don't worry, Sprocket. I won't let Eggman destroy you. Not on my watch"
Sprocket smiles at this. The duo then begins to observe the fortress.
"There appears to be a lot of smoke around the fortress" the small robot said
"Yeah. And if I were to guess, Sonic was here. And knowing him, he's going to stop another one of Eggman's plans to conquer the world" Gear deduced
"It is very clear that Sonic and Dr. Eggman always do this." Sprocket
"Oh yeah" Gear said
Inside Dr. Eggman's fortress, Decoe and Bocoe had just sealed the doors in the hallway in the control while their looking at the radar.
"Doctor Eggman, the facility is in 100 percent lockdown." Decoe said to his boss who was standing next to a machine with a glass tube
"Why does that cursed Sonic always get in my way?!" grumbled Dr. Eggman
Behind him, Cream and Chase were inside a glass prison
"He doesn't get in your way, Dr. Eggman. Sonic just tries to stop you from doing all the bad things you like to do." the young rabbit said
"Chao chao" Cheese added
"Ooh, is that so? Well, he's too late to stop me this time!" gloated Dr. Eggman as he held up a red emerald. "Once I insert the last Chaos Emerald, my energy amplifier will be invincible!
"But you can't do that!" Cream yelled
"Chao-chao-chao!" Cheese said agreeing with her
Unbeknownst to them, someone was sitting on a ledge above watching the whole thing. She is an anthropomorphic bat who goes by the name Rouge.
"That's right; Sonic won't let you get away with this!" Cream said
"You're wrong Creamy-dreamy!" cackled Eggman. "He can't sto- ugh?!"
He was suddenly startled when the door in the control room was busted open. Eggman turns to see Sonic appearing inside
"Sonic!" Cream said happily
"Sonic. Too late" Dr. Eggman said. He then inserted the red Chaos Emerald into the machine and inputs a few commands before grabbing the trigger.
"You'll never stop me now, Sonic! Ho ho ho! All I have to do is to push this little button!" the evil doctor said with a laugh
"Yeah. If you can push it before I grab it" Sonic said which makes Eggman nervous
Then, a robot called an E-13 Guardbot appears behind Sonic which makes the evil doctor grin
"Why don't you give it a try?!" he said
The Guardbot begins to fire at Sonic, who begins to evade with his super speed. He then begins to run on the wall
"Don't let him get away!" yelled Eggman
The Guardbot fired at Rouge's direction causing her to take cover.
"Stop him, no matter what!" the doctor yelled. Sonic then leaps in front of him. The Guardbot focus it's target. "Ahhh! No! Hold your fire!"
Sonic leaps away while Eggman ducks down as the robot fires at the machine, hitting one of the buttons in the process.
"HAH! HERE WE GO!"
Before he can pull the trigger, the machine starts to let out some electricity as the machine was critcially damaged from the Guardbot's attack.
"What have you done!?" yelled Eggman
Everyone in the room watches as the machine starts to glow and begins to cover the room in a white light. Outside, the light begins to crack through the fortress as it engulfs the fortress and then starts to envelope everything outside. Gear and Sprocket saw this
"Whoa! What is that?" asked Gear
"I don't know. But something tells me we'll have to brace ourselves" Sprocket answered
Tika had just raced from the forest. She then spots Gear and Sprocket.
"There they are" she said but then notices the white light coming near. "What's this?"
Then, the white light engulfed everyone
Gear and Sprocket were lying unconscious on something black. Their scooter was nearby. What they didn't know was that a certain blue hedgehog was lying a few feet from them. Sonic then woke up
"Ugh. Man, I must've passed out or something" he said. He then turns and notices Gear and Sprocket. "Huh? Who are those guys? I should wake them up"
Sonic runs over and kneels down. He then begins to shake them
"Hey! Wake up you two. Are you both okay?" the blue hedgehog asked
Gear groans as he woke up. Sprocket also begins to stir awake
"W-What happened?" Gear asked as he rubbed his eyes with Sprocket doing the same
"Hey there. How are you two feeling?" Sonic asked
Gear widens his eyes as he saw his idol in front of him. He gasps as he immediately gets up with Sprocket doing slowly doing the same
"Oh my gosh! You're... you're Sonic the Hedgehog!" the mechanic yelled as he points at him
"In the flesh" Sonic said with a chuckle
"Wow. I can't believe I am actually meeting you. I am a big fan. I actually saw you fight against Dr. Eggman a few times. You were awesome" Gear said
"Heh heh. Much appreciated" Sonic said
"This is what Sonic really looks like?" Sprocket asked as he steps up
"He sure does" Gear said
"Hmmm. He looks a bit taller" Sprocket said
"Aw thanks" Sonic said. "By the way, are you two hurt?"
"Nope I think we should be okay" Gear said
"Yes. We are 100 percent alright" Sprocket added
"Oh where are our manners. My name is Gear. Gear the Fox" Gear introduced himself
"And my name is Sprocket. It is a pleasure to meet you, Sonic" Sprocket said introducing himself
"Nice to meet you Gear and Sprocket" Sonic said
Suddenly, a horn honks and the trio turns to see a bright light coming towards them. They both ran to the right and another headlight comes in their directions causing them to dodge right. Then another headlight comes their way causing them to shield themselves as it stops in front of them. They both blink as they unshielded to see that the bright light comes from the headlights of some trucks. From above, it is reveal that the fox, the hedgehog, and the robot are in some other world. They are surrounded by a bunch of vehicles. Not only that, but a bunch of humans were looking at them in surprise.
"Where are we?" Sonic asked
"Hey Sprocket. Do you know?" Gear asked
"Hmm. We appear to be in some kind of alternate world" Sprocket said
"You may be right. Those creatures are definitely not animals like us" Gear said as he looks at the humans
"What are they all staring at?" Sonic asked
"What is this? Halloween!?" a man in a green truck yelled
Then two police officers came into the scene
"So they can talk" Sonic said
"They must be the natives to this world" Gear said
"What are those things?" one of the police officers asked
"They appear to be a big hedgehog, a big fox, and some kind of small robot" the second police officer replied
"A blue hedgehog, a yellow fox, and a puny robot?" said the first police officer confused
"Well, whatever they are. We better get them out of here" the second police officer said as he kneels in front of them. "Hey there. Wanna ride with us down to the station?"
"Should I call for backup?" asked the first police officer asked
"I have three kitty cats at home. I think I can handle these fellas. Though the robot, not so much" the second officer replied as he proceeds to make kissing noises
'How insulting' thought Gear as he and Sonic both crossed their arms with disapproving looks
Sprocket only glares at them
"Did you see that? That hedgehog's got an attitude. A bad one. The same can also be said for the fox and the robot" the first police officer said
"Yeah? Well they won't get away from me!" the second police officer said as he attempts to grab them. But Sonic sidesteps to the right while Gear and Clank dodges to the left. "Huh?"
"Why you?!" the first police officer said as he takes out a club, but another officer presumably the sergeant stops him
"Take it easy. I think we can handle this without getting rough." the sergeant says
"But sarge" the first police officer complained
"Duffy get behind the blue hedgehog. You two, be prepare to grab the yellow fox and that tin toy" the sergeant ordered
The officers then surrounds Sonic while two more officers were standing in front of Gear and Sprocket getting ready to attack
"Get ready to grab them" one of the police officer says
"Gear, what should we do?" Sprocket asked
Gear then notices the hover scooter on his right
"I got an idea" Gear said with a smirk
"Now!" the other police officer said as he and the other officer lunges at them
Gear takes out his MegaWrench and hurls it at the police officers like a boomerang which knocks them down. The wrench then returns to him. Gear then grabs Sprocket and does a flip over to his scooter. Sonic, having just avoided being caught in a police ambush, saw this on top of a car
"Whoa. You're quite athletic aren't ya?" Sonic asked
"I guess you can say that" Gear said
Just then, an officer throws a net over Sonic
"Don't worry, sarge! I got him!" he said
"Okay, guys. When I say go, we go!" Sonic said as he runs taking the officer with him while other officers grab onto him
"Right behind ya!" Gear yelled as he and his robot friend got on the scooter and follows after
The trio raced through the streets. They then race past a S.S.P.D. cruiser with Sonic causing the officers to get stuffed inside. Sonic, Gear and Clank then race off into the highway. The sergeant grabs the radio and shouts in it
"Attention all units! Attention all units! A blue hedgehog, a yellow fox, and a small tin robot is heading north on Central Street. Shut down all thoroughfares that lead into and out of Station Square, and set up a roadblock just before the on-ramp to 101!"
In another highway, a police is car driving by. Inside, two police officers were talking to each other.
"Could you believe that there is not only a blue hedgehog, but also a yellow fox and a robot?" asked the officer who was driving the car
"I know. I bet it's one of those fancy sports cars from overseas." said the other officer with a laugh. "Hey, if we catch either of them, maybe the captain will let us drive it."
"I bet it has one of those cute little hood ornaments that looks like a hedgehog or a robot" said the police officer driving the car.
The police officer hear a noise and the look to see Sonic on the hood of the car. They also heard another noise and they turn to see Gear and Clank riding next to them. Gear waves at them casually
"I don't know how we got here, but I've got to find a way to get us out" Sonic said before looking at his two new friends. "Come on you two"
And with that, the blude hedgehog jumps off the car and races off with Gear and Clank picking up speed and going after him.
"Hey did you see... what I just saw?" the officer sitting in the shotgun asked
"I think I did but I wish I didn't." the officer driving the car said
The three companions continue to race through the highway unaware of a helicopter in pursuit of them.
"How are you two doing back there?" asked Sonic as Gear and Sprocket catches up behind them
"We're doing good, Sonic. You are really hard to keep up you know that?" Gear asked
"That's why they call me the fastest thing alive!" Sonic said
Sprocket then looks ahead from behind Gear
"Incoming road block ahead" Sprocket said
The hedgehog and fox turn to see that the police have indeed set up a massive roadblock in attempt to stop them.
"Oh man. How do we get past that?" Gear asked
"Don't worry. Leave it to me" Sonic said as he gets behind the scooter. He then curls into a ball and charges at it. Sonic then hits the scooter very hard which sends it flying over road block.
"Whoa!" Gear and Clank yelled as they flew over
Sonic then uncurls and runs to road block and jumps high over it. He along with Gear and Sprocket lands on the other side and they continue to race forward.
"Well, they didn't get under us, around us or through us." said a police officer with a chuckle
After evading the police, Sonic along with Gear and Sprocket stops at a part of the highway where they were observing the sky. Sonic was sitting on the lamppost while Gear and Sprocket were leaning against the scooter
"The sky looks the same. So do the stars and the moon." Sonic said
"Indeed, Sonic. Even though this world is different, it has similar stars and moon like from our world" Sprocket said
"But there's one thing I don't get. How did we get here?" Gear asked
Sonic then remembers when the white light from Dr. Eggman's fortress engulfed him and the everyone else back on their world
"I guess Chaos Control must have sent us here" Sonic said
"Chaos Control?" Gear asked
"According to my databank, Chaos Control is a phenomenon that allows the user to warp time and space" Sprocket said
"Right you are Sprocket. That means we either traveled through space or travelled through time" Sonic said before looking down sadly. "But what about my friends? Did they make it?"
"Sonic?"
Sonic looks down at Gear
"Are you alright?" the fox asked
"No. I'm just thinking about my friends. I'm worried about them. I'm not sure if Chaos Control also sent them here. And without their help, we can be stuck here forever. I don't know what to do" Sonic lamented.
Both Gear and Sprocket frowned as he said that. Gear then steps up
"We can help you" Gear said
"Huh?" Sonic asked
"Listen. I know that we just met and all, but I have always looked up to you when I was growing up. Seeing you and your friends battle against Dr. Eggman and his forces several times was what inspired me to be a hero just like you." explained Gear. "I may be just a mechanic, but I am capable of doing so much more than what I can do. We may be trapped in a new world, but I'm sure we'll find a way to get back and who knows? Maybe your friends might be in this world as well. So will you please let us help you?"
Sonic was surprised by what Gear said to him. Sprocket was a surprised as well, but shook it off and steps up next to the fox mechanic.
"Gear is right, Sonic. I may also be a small defect, but I too am capable of providing assistance for you just like your friends. If you would let us" Sprocket said
Sonic was moved by what the duo said. Not to mention when he heard Gear explaining to him about his dream of being a hero like him. He leaps off the lamppost and walks up to them. He then places a hand on Gear's shoulder
"Sure thing, Gear. And you too, Sprocket. I should also thank you for keeping up with me when were escaping those guys. And don't worry, just stick with me and you can be your own hero." Sonic said with a smirk
Gear smiled
"Thank you, Sonic" he said
"Yes. Thank you" Sprocket said
Sonic then held out his fist. Gear and Sprocket both looked at it confused
"It's okay. Just tap it with your fist" the blue hedgehog said
Gear then forms a fist and taps Sonic's fist. Sonic then kneels down to Sprocket and the small defect use his fist to touch Sonic's. Suddenly, red vehicles came up to them. Then someone came out of his car and takes off his helmet. His name is Sam.
"Hey there! You two animals and robot sure are hard to keep up" he said.
"Get ready to go" Sonic whispered to his friends
Gear and Sprocket both nod their heads.
Before they can do so...
"Hey, hold on! We don't get such fast company very often. In fact, I'm glad you three showed up. This place is way too peaceful. Over the last 12 months, I've only made one arrest. Some joker got it into his head that he was a hot-shot driver. Had his own Formula-One car and everything. I guess he thought he'd give me a run for my money, but it was all over in a minute. It took me longer than that to suit up!" Sam said
The three friends look at each other
"He never had a chance. Of course it's our own fault, this town's dull mainly because of us. You see, we're the high-speed pursuit unit, the S-Team, and I'm the leader of the team. They call me the 'Highway Star'. So even if one of you thinks you're the fastest thing around, think again!" Sam continued
Hearing the engines running caused the three friends to gasp. As Sonic took off, Gear and Sprocket got on the scooter and follows after their speedy friend. The other cars chased after them.
'Run fast, hedgehog! I wanna be the one to catch you and your friends too!' Sam thought
Sonic, Gear and Clank continue to rush down the highway with the S-Team in hot pursuit
"Ha, the S-Team eh? The 'S' must stand for "slow-motion"." Sonic joked
"Heh. Good one, Sonic" Gear said
"Hey Gear. How fast are you going on your scooter?" asked Sonic
"As fast as I can" Gear said
"Well then, try to keep up" Sonic said as he accelerated
"You got it" the fox mechanic said as he made his scooter go a little faster
"The blue hedgehog is accelerating and the yellow fox is speeding up on his hover vehicle" the S-team member said "Boost your rear-wing angle to 20 degrees!"
"Roger" the other S-team member replied
The S-team member a button allowing him to catch up. Soon, all the other S-team members catch up to the runaway friends
"Well, well, well! It's starting to look like the rush hour!" Sonic said
Just then, the cars then surround them
"We are boxed in" Sprocket said
"Don't worry. I'll handle this" Sonic said as vanishes
"Where is he? Did I run him over?" one of the S-team members asked?
Sonic then appeared on his side and knocked on the glass which distracts him. He then rushes ahead and then appear on the hood of his car
"Huh?! Hey, you! This is dangerous! It's irresponsible! What happens if kids start trying this?!" he yelled
"Do not try this at home kids" Sonic says as he broke the fourth wall
"Who is talking to?" Sprocket asked
"No idea" Gear replied
Sonic then leaps off the car and sped off. Meanwhile, Gear notices the tires and then gets an idea. Gear then takes out his blaster
"What are you doing?" Sprocket asked
"Just watch" Gear said with a smirk
He then blasts the tires with his blaster causing of one of the tires to puncture while also causing the car to skid. Gear did the same thing to two more cars by taking out the other tires making all the other cars to skid out of control. Seeing an opening, Gear revs up his scooter and catches up to Sonic.
"Woah. Nice one, Gear. But where did you get that blaster?" he asked
"I took it off from one of Eggman's robots" answered Gear
"That was very clever of you, Gear" Sprocket said which earns him a smile from the fox
"That blue hedgehog is not gonna treat the S-team like chumps and that fox will pay for messing up the tires! Let's teach them a lesson! Boost all wings .5 degrees and let's get this guy!" the driver ordered
"Roger" the other driver responded
Pretty soon, the remaining S-team cars begins to speed up. Sprocket looks behind him
"They are catching up" he told his friends
"No worries Sprocket. We'll pour on the speed" Sonic said
"Oh yeah. Let's do this!" Gear added as he made his scooter go even faster and Sonic speeds up
The two remaining S-Team racers are trying to keep up with them
"Full throttle" one of the drivers said but what he saw ahead surprises him. "Huh?"
Even Gear and Sprocket were surprised as they see Sonic running backwards
"Whoa! How are you doing that?" Gear asked
"Years of practice, buddy. Years of practice" Sonic replied
"What the-?! How can-?! It's playing with us!" the S-Team officer said
"Where'd they come from?" the second S-Team officer asked
Meanwhile, Sam was driving up behind them
"Chief, you gotta do something!" the officer said on his radio
"Playtime is now officially over! Attention all units, open the center line!" he ordered. The two members opened to make an opening for him. "I didn't think I have to do this but I have no choice. I will not have anybody, faster than me, on my highway!"
With that said, he pulls a lever for Super Nitro in his car, making his car go even faster. The three friends then saw this
"Sonic, Gear. Look out!" warned Sprocket
The two animals yelped as they both got out of the way as the car raced past them
"Oh man. That guy's going faster than us. How are we going to get past him?" asked Gear
"Don't worry Gear. I got a plan. You and Sprocket might want to hang on for this" Sonic said before getting behind the scooter
"What does he mean by...thaaaat!" Sprocket yelled as Sonic pushes the scooter while performing at an even faster rate. The fox and the robot held on for dear life as they zooming past Sam.
"A Sonic Boom!? He's moving faster than the speed of sound while pushing the fox and the robot" Sam said in surprise
Back to the three friends, Sonic continues to push the scooter through the highway
"Whoa! Now that's the fastest I ever went. Thanks, Sonic!" Gear said
"Don't mention it" Sonic said
"Um. You might want to slow down" Sprocket said as he looks ahead
"Why Sprocket?" Gear asked
"Cause we're reaching a dead end" Sprocket answered
Sonic and Gear looked to see that the lane is out. But it was too late, Sonic, Gear, and Sprocket zoomed through the unfinished lane while passing by several wind turbines that goes very fast due to Sonic's speed. Sonic, Gear and Clank were then flying over a city.
"Maybe this place isn't so bad. Right fellas?" asked Sonic
"Yeah. The view looks pretty nice from up here" Gear replied
"Yes. It is very nice if I do say so myself" Sprocket added
"Not to mention, I know somebody who I can have fun with!" Sonic said
"Yeah. I feel like there is so much to explore even if we are stranded in this world" Gear said
"And while we're here, we can also see if any of Sonic's friends are here as well" Sprocket added
"Heh heh. I agree. And Gear, as I said before. Just stick with me and I can help you be a great hero. Maybe also teach you how to fight without your wrench or your blaster. And you are stuck on something, I'll be there to help you." Sonic said
"I would like that, Sonic" Gear said with a grin
Sonic notices something from below "Huh?"
"What is it?" Gear asked
"I see a swimming pool" Sonic said as he points down
"Swimming pool?" Gear said as he and Sprocket look down. Gear then realizes something. "Wait. Shouldn't we be falling?"
"I believe this is what they call gravity" Sprocket said
Gear and Sonic both widen their eyes at the realization.
"Uh oh!" they yelled.
They then begin falling while the scooter fell down somewhere outside of the pool. They then fell into the pool making a big splash. In a mansion next to the pool, a young boy woke upon hearing the splash. Meanwhile in the pool, Sonic, Gear, and Sprocket were underwater. Sonic and Gear held their breath as they try to swim back up. Sprocket attempts to help them, but due to his small size, he couldn't carry them back up. He was fortunate that he is waterproof as there was no rust on him. Back in the house, the boy ran out of his room and ran downstairs. He then heads to the backyard where the pool is. Back under the pool, the three friends still attempts to swim up, but no avail.
'It's no use. If only I learn how to swim. And I'm about to run out of air' thought Gear as he feels that he can't hold his breath for long
Just then, the boy dives into the water and grabs both Sonic and Gear by the hands. As he swam back up, Gear grabs Sprocket by the arm as they are pulled up. The boy then brought them back to the surface. Sonic and Gear were both coughing while Sprocket watches them.
"That was close. Are you three alright?" asked the boy
"We're okay. Thanks for the save, man" replied Gear gratefully
"Yes. I am 100 percent alright. I am lucky that I am waterproof" Sprocket answered
"Yeah. Thanks a lot" Sonic replied
"Wow. I didn't think you three can talk" the boy said in amazement.
"You better believe it" Gear said
"Yeah. I can do a lot of things also." Sonic replied
"I can do other things aside from talking too." Gear said
"Me too" Sprocket added
"Wow, that's awesome...th-that you can talk, I mean. My name's Christopher. But you can call me Chris. What are your names?" the boy now known as Chris asked
"Yeah, I have a name. My name is Sonic the Hedgehog!" Sonic answered
"My name is Gear the Fox" Gear added
"And I am Sprocket" Sprocket said
Gear doesn't know it, but he and Sprocket's adventure in this new world was just beginning.
And that was the first chapter of Sonic X: Gear & Sprocket. The scene for Sprocket's creation was inspired by Clank's creation from the Ratchet & Clank movie. I also combined Ratchet and Clank's meeting from both original and remake for the inspiration of Gear and Sprocket's meeting. Also, Tika the Echidna will be voiced Alyson Leigh Rosenfeld who also did the voice of Rio Kastle. Anyway, this is only the beginning of Gear & Sprocket's adventure in the human world as they work with Sonic and his friends to retrieve the Chaos Emeralds while fighting Doctor Eggman.
