Draco was sitting on the couch doing his current potions homework when Hermione walked through the shared portrait door. He set his book down and looked up at her noticing a furry creature in her arms.
"Granger, what exactly are you holding in your arms?" He asked
'It's a Kneazle. I lost Crookshanks in the war, so I got this guy. He's not orange but he has some beautiful eyes, isn't he cute?" She asked, turning while showing Draco the new creature.
" I don't remember a - Crookshanks?" He tried to think back to the days before the war and wondered what she was talking about but he couldn't really recall any details of her and any animal named that.
"He was my orange tabby Kneazle, he used to wander the halls chasing Ron's Rat." She replied.
"Wait..are you talking about that orange mangy cat that used to follow me around the halls, in fourth and fifth year. I think I recall what you are talking about. I would give him treats every now and then. " Draco admitted
"Ha - So you are a cat person! I had you pegged as a dog person." She remarked.
"No, definitely not, I love cats. The more cats the better. Dogs need to stay as far away from me as possible... My mother said we were never allowed to have a dog because Sirius used to give her hell while they were here at school..that was his animagus you know." For some reason the more he was around her, the more comfortable he felt divulging this information to her.
She simply smiled at him "Yes, I did know that. I think had you had time to know him, you would have loved him. Here take him, I haven't figured out his new name yet, but you can help me since you share the living space with us."
Draco reached for the gray small kitten and put it on his lap. "Deal, but give me some time with him...I have to think about this."
"Deal! I'll be back in a bit." She replied back to him as she turned and made her way down the hall to her room.
