It had been a week since the destruction of the Acceledrome. Luckily Dr. Tezla had several other secret bases set up as a fail safe (you never could be too careful when dealing with racing drones). Dr. Tezla decided to use one of his other bases set up in the Mojave Desert. After saving Mark Wylde from the drones headquarters the Metal Maniacs and the Teku decided to permanently stick together. They decided to go under a more appropriate moniker; Acceleracers.
They would always be a little different but what family wasn't. Dr. Tesla was able to heal after another few months using his biofeedback suit. Karmen and Taro decided to become a couple after realizing their strong feelings for each other. Mark and Kurt were finally able to bury the past and move on with their lives. After the chaos at the Acceledrome, Mark and Kurt realized they never saw what actually happened to Kadeem. They figured they would see him and the drones again sooner or later. Vert finally got an explanation from his father; he was still in the military but he was recruited for this mission because of his exceptional driving skills. The silencers were a project funded by the U.S. Government. They wanted to explore and understand all that the Accelerons had left humans. They were ruthless when it came to stopping the drones but they made sure to just incapacitate the human drivers.
The Silencers were ordered to win the accelechargers, so they could be studied and fully understood. After a talk with his father and an offer to join the Silencers, Vert politely declined. He would love nothing more than to race by his father's side but his place was with the Acceleracers. His father and the other Silencers understood and simply said they had his and his friends back; they would help protect them but they would still be racing to the finish line first. He got a signal from Tezla and drove out to meet up with the rest of his new family.
Mojave Desert, Acceledrome 2.0
Vert had just arrived at the new Acceledrome. This time it was underground, they had better security (including a failsafe EMP, this would knock out any drones if they managed to get in; without having to destroy the base) and the hatch was only keyed to open if a certain transponder was presented. As his car Reverb screeched to a stop, he and Sparky hopped out. The Acceleracers all crowded around him, pleased that he made it back.
Nolo and Tork walked up and Tork clapped him on the back. Nolo brought him into a hug "Glad you made it back man. You gotta tell us what happened after you went through the wheel though." Vert smiled and said "I actually got transported to the Silencers headquarters. Where I was, I am unclear about but who the Silencers were gave me the shock of a lifetime. Believe it or not my father was their leader. The Silencers are actually a group funded by the U.S. Government. Remember how they always destroyed the drones but simply incapacitated us? They were trying to stop the drones too but in their minds we were getting in the way. The Silencers offered me a position with them but I knew I couldn't leave you guys. They did promise me that they would help protect us from the drones and they wouldn't incapacitate our cars anymore but it would still be a race to the finish. Apparently after I turned down the offer to race the Accelerons they decided to create brand new tracks and test humans again. They wanted to see if a human did actually beat the realms on their merit or if it was luck."
Dr. Tezla walked up and looked at all the racers before clearing his throat "If I could have everyone's attention. I am sure all of you want to know the extent of my history with the Silencers as well. After I got recruited by the Silencers I grew fascinated by the Accelerons. These were aliens that were Eons ahead of humanity and had unbelievable powers. Then I discovered the drones, I saw what a huge threat they were and I tried to warn my colleagues. They all thought I was being paranoid and thought that the drones were a few security drones. I couldn't take the chance of the drones going unnoticed and Gelorum wiping out Humanity. I had no choice, so I stole Gig and their most advanced technology at the time and the rest is history. I am sorry for lying to you but I felt the need to keep my secrets close. I see now that I was wrong. Each of you had an opportunity to betray me and none of you did. I ask for your forgiveness and if you would be willing to let me guide you once again."
The Acceleracers all looked at each other for a few minutes. Seemingly having a whole discussion in their heads before Nolo and Tork each grabbed a shoulder of Tezla and simply said "We're welded." That was all that needed to be said as the new family embraced. After the warm feeling, they knew that they had some work to do if they were going to beat the Drones and the Silencers. They walked away to start building their cars from scratch. Tezla looked at Lonnie with a smile before saying "They live to drive, now they must drive to survive." Lonnie smiled, she had complete faith in the Acceleracers and they both walked away towards the communication tower. Those Drones wouldn't know what hit them.
Review: Acceleracers was an integral part of my childhood and I recently got the chance to watch those movies again. Those movies were pure nostalgia and years ahead of their time (in my opionion at least). I wanted to try ,y hand at writing a fanfiction for this underrated series and hopefully bring some more fans into the Realms ;) Are you ready for the race of a lifetime? Let's find out together
