Chapter 19 : The mystery music box
Luna was helping her Abuelo with some paintings as they needed some paint that was on his top cabinet she tried her best to reach it when she felt something hard and metal reach her fingertips and carefully got it off the shelf.
"Careful there my love". Bruno cautioned
Luna was on her tiptoes reaching as she carefully grabbed the music box and had in her hands smiling tracing her hands over the detail and how precious it was.
"Abuelo what's this?" The girl asked
When Bruno turned around his face gasped at the sight and his eyes widened at seeing the music in her hands. Luna coaxed her head wondering if she did something wrong as she carefully put the item down on the table sighing.
'God, I can't remember the last time I saw that, Lunita looks so much like her mother it's hard to forget sometimes.' He sighed
"Abuelo?" She coaxed asking again her eyes filling with tears
Bruno looked at his goddaughter with a smile and sat on the couch patting the spot next to him and she happily accepted.
"Did- I-I make you s-s-sad ". She asked through coking tears
Bruno was shook that his precious little moonlight thought that but he could understand why, she did have her mother's kindness.
"No no Mi Lunita, of course not I just remembered some things that's all". He comforted her as she sat on his lap
"Is this important to you?" She asked tilting her head up to him smiling
Bruno nodded and smiled.
"More so to your Mamá ". He adds
"Why?" She questioned
"You see that music box was… your Mamá's ". Bruno sighed
Luna gasped at what she just heard and smiled as her Abuelo told her the story of the music box and how it was lost when Mirabel took out to a walk with Bruno to the church and on the way back it got lost and she'd accidentally dropped it on the way back to the house. Then he had found one day when he went out for a walk when he found and fixed up and he was planning to give it to Mirabel on her birthday after her ceremony but then he never got the chance to.
"So you never gave Mamá the music box ". She sighed
"No Mija I don't think she knows". Bruno replied
Luna then had an idea and so she took Bruno's hand and got him up and then carefully took the music box in her hands.
"What are you thinking Mija?" Bruno asked her
"If Mamá doesn't know then we have to tell her maybe she'll be happy to see it again ". She stated
"I don't know … I doubt she'll remember ". Bruno shrugged
"Well we have to try, Papá says it is always good to try even if we don't know how things turn out". Luna said
Smiling at his goddaughter he gently kissed her forehead and took her hand as They headed downstairs to La Sala were Mirabel was reading a book while Miguel had her head in his lap when Luna spotted them she smiled.
"Mamá, Mamá!!" Luna called
Out the sound of her little girl Mirabel perks her head up and puts down the book and smiled while Miguel Continued writing.
"There's my little explorer so what did you find?" Mirabel asked her daughter
"Me and Abuelo were looking for paint to create telenovela backgrounds for the new script when I found this, Abuelo says it belongs to you". She exclaimed holding the music box carefully in her hand smiling
Bruno looked shy at his niece and shrugged Mirabel just smiled.
"I told her I doubt you'll remember ". He adds
Luna carefully gave the precious music box to her mother and Mirabel took it with care. She traced her hand over the design and etched in it was a beautiful butterfly in the centre, Miguel now curious put down his book and looked at the item with widened eyes.
"It's beautiful ". Miguel smiled
"So what does it play Mamá ". Luna exclaimed excitement taking over
She then remembered that she had kept Something of a key in her desk draw er never knowing what it was really for until now.
"Amor?" Miguel asked
Mirabel went off grabbed the key from her desk and then came back sat down, Luna came close curious to see what her mother was doing. Bruno smiled and sighed knowing that she'd probably remembered what happened that day.
' All for you Mi Mariposa ' He thought
She turned the inside the lock and up popped a Beautiful blue butterfly spinning on its axis playing a tune that Mirabel remembers very vaguely.
"Woah". Luna gasped

As she hummed the tune she remembered her Tio singing to her every night to help her sleep when she was a little girl wrapped up in his arms. Tears welled up in her eyes as she heard the lullaby for the first time in a very long time bringing back lots of happy memories just her and her Tio.
"You kept it after all this time". She coked out
"Of course I did Mariposa, it was you I could never forget even after I left". Bruno smiled eyes watery and glassy
She went and hugged her Tio tightly tears streaming down her face happy that he was back in her life and Bruno breathed a sigh of relief knowing he was not going anywhere and what a young woman she had grown into.
"Mi pequeña mariposa". He whispered softly kissing her curls
When they finally broke the hug she smiled as she wiped her tears away. Laughing they sat back down on the couch.
"I thought it was lost". She chuckled
"Abuelo fixed it up and was planning to give back to you after your gift ceremony but then he had the vision and left". Luna exclaimed
Mirabel turned to her tio with wide eyes and he just shrugged .
"You're a mystery you know that". Mirabel replies
"Sometimes that's how I like to keep it Mira ". Bruno smiled and winked
Bringing back these memories were precious and that was all that mattered…
