A/N 2: Meh.
It was AR-2's weekly movie night and they were all squished on or around Dr. David Parrish's bed in his quarters. While there wasn't a whole lot of furniture, there was an obscene amount of flowers, small trees, and other greenery all over.
Buffy and Evan had gotten the bed this time and Laura and David were sitting in front on the cushions someone had snatched from somewhere. A cheesy horror movie was playing on the laptop screen, but none of them had their full attention on it. Instead, they were talking. Well, Buffy, Evan, and Laura were talking. David was busy petting his plants or possibly doing something else people did when they had green things.
"Sheppard's team took a detour to the Flame Wall planet so McKay could try and figure out how it works."
Buffy gave the other woman on the team a sideways look as she'd had her attention on the screen, "He failed to solve the mystery and is now sulking?"
"Naturally. If he had figured it out he would've been bragging about it. Especially to us, and Dr. Zelenka would've never heard the end of it."
"They had a milk run and Dr. McKay convinced Colonel Sheppard that it was okay to take a little side trip. It probably helped that Teyla was curious about the mutated animals, so they went. Stayed for an hour and a half, and got the exact same results as Dr. Zelenka."
Buffy turned her head and grinned at her team leader, "Someone's got the inside connection." She wanted to say 'pillow talk', but refrained even though everyone in there was either aware of the relationship between Lorne and Sheppard, or suspected it. Even David had kind of cottoned on after a while.
"I attended the debriefing along with Mr. Woolsey. The planet they were scheduled to go to had nothing of interest, and there wasn't much to say about it. Dr. McKay is Dr. McKay, so the only thing he was interested in talking about was the Flame Wall."
"If you say so."
They went back to watching the movie again, although none of them really knew what was going on plot-wise. An overly attractive woman in her early twenties was running across the screen wearing nothing more than short shorts and a teeny tiny bra that didn't manage to cover her 'assets'. Beside her, Evan immediately lost interest, and she hid a smile in the semi-darkness.
"But if you're interested in some real inside information that isn't out yet..." Evan gave her an amused smile.
"Do tell." Buffy gave him an exaggerated coy grin.
At the foot of the bed, both Laura and David joined in.
"Yes Sir. Please tell. Whatever it is, I'm sure it's more interesting than the silicone boobs on the screen."
"Anything is more interesting than that," David glanced at the screen before giving Evan his full attention. "Tell us, please."
Laughter echoed in the small room before Major Lorne indulged the rest of the team.
"Dr. Jackson has been working on trying to find more of Janus' work, and he thinks he might have found a secret lab here in Atlantis. He needs to do more research, but if he's correct, he'll grace us with his presence sometime soon."
"Uh oh, does that mean all of SG-1 will come here, or just Daniel?"
"It seems like it'll just be Dr. Jackson."
"So no Colonel Carter, no Teal'c, no Colonel Mitchell, and more importantly, no Vala to try and rob us blind?" Laura had turned all the way around at that point, "Because if she's coming, too, we need to hide the silver first. Sir."
"No, Cadman, Vala Mal Doran is not coming, I've been assured of that. It doesn't seem like anyone other than Dr. Jackson will visit."
"When's the official announcement?" David asked the question they were all wondering about.
"It's uncertain, depends on when he gets more solid proof. Probably within the month."
The rest of the night was spent talking about the infamous SG-1, and the movie was forgotten.
