"Merlin!" I shouted. My name's Morgana Pendragon. I'm the king's ward, and Arthur's half-sister. "Coming my Lady." Merlin was my secret boyfriend. When Merlin entered my chambers, he looked worried. "Are you alright?" He asked. "Not really..." I replied, sitting on my bed, causing Merlin to sit beside me. "What's wrong?" He asked. "I'm not feeling 100%" "Do you want me to call Gaius?" I said "No one can find out! If they suspect!"
Merlin said "I know, honey, I know the implications that are against us." He gently touched my cheek. "Do you want some tea? I can see if Gwen can fetch you some?" Merlin offered. "I'll try anything. I feel really nauseous." I supplied, laying down. "I'm here, sorry..." Gwen's voice said as she entered. "Are you well Lady Morgana?" I looked to Merlin, who said "Actually, will you please fetch her some ginger or vanilla tea? I'm afraid she's got a bit of an upset stomach." "Of Course. I'll be back soon." She left, as I said "Thank you." "Nothing to thank, my love." Merlin whispered, placing his head on mine, whispering a spell. We both had magical powers, but I also had the ability to see things, in a dream that could happen, and happened 100 % of the time.
"What did you do?" I whispered. "Made it so we can communicate through our minds. So if you need anything at all, and Gwen's not, around, just use your mind to ask me, and I will get it for you, or if you get sick and need Gaius, let me know through our mind, and I'll get him. Okay?" I felt his lips on mine. "I will." Once Gwen returned, Merlin left. I spent the day in bed, feeling worse as the day went on. 'Merlin. I need something... I don't care if creates a scandal... I need Gaius.' 'On my way sweetie.' I smiled as I waited. I heard a knock on the door, and I called a come in. "Lady Morgana. We're here." Gaius called as they approached me, Merlin sat next to me. "I told him everything, before we came here, and swore him to secrecy." I nodded while Gaius made the exam. "Merlin, A moment." Gaius whispered as he finished. I just pulled the blanket, over me, as they stepped aside whispering. "Thank you, old friend... I'll see to it... I'll talk to her and see if we can figure something out." Merlin said, before he came over to me. I felt his lips on my head. "Continue sleeping." He whispered.
When I woke, my stomach growled. "Hey, I brought some dinner." Gwen said setting a tray on the bed. "Where's Merlin?" "With Arthur." She said, as I looked at the food. "Ugh. I'm sorry... Can you take it away... Just the smell of it, is making me nauseous..." "You've hardly eaten." I said "Please take it away." 'Merlin. I can't stomach what the meal is. Can you see if anyone has some soup and bring that? I do not feel good, and Gwen's not listening...' 'Oh honey. I'll bring it when I come to see you. Just try to eat one thing, even if it makes you sick. For me. I know what's going on.' 'Fine...' I picked up a piece of bread and tried to take a bite. "Thank you." I whispered.
I wasn't sure how long it was, but Merlin finally arrived, with a tray of soup. "I brought some soup, like I promised." "Thank you." I whispered as I ate some of the soup. "What did Gaius say is wrong with me?" "He did... And I'm afraid to tell you..." I said "Why?" He took a deep breath, and said "You are pregnant, with my child." I sat up, even more and said "Oh god... How sure is Gaius?" "100%. What are you thinking?" he asked. I said "I'm scared..." Merlin said "I know, I can feel it. Let's go somewhere..." I said "I don't feel well enough to travel." He sat beside me stroking my head. "Lay your head on my shoulder, we'll go together tomorrow night." I lay against him and fell asleep.
In the morning, I woke to Merlin's body missing from the bed. "Merlin?" "Lady Morgana? Are you well?" Gwen said, entering. "Yes... I think I am... I'm getting up... Will you help me dress?" She nodded and helped me dress before we went to breakfast. "Eat up." The king said, as we sat. 'I'm not feeling well...' 'I've got you. Don't worry. It'll be Okay.' I smiled at him, as he sat plate of toast, in front of me. After breakfast, Merlin and Arthur did whatever they did during the day. I spent the day, out in the gardens. "Lady Morgana, Are you alright?" I heard one of the knights ask. "Yes, I am well, thank you..." I replied, as I heard Merlin say 'Do Not Lie. At least tell me the truth!' 'I am feeling incredibly nauseous... But that's normal. Can we go somewhere tonight? Just the two of us?' 'Yes, of course. I already have taken care of the plans.'
Later that night, Merlin arrived, in the gardens. "Ready to go?" I nodded, as we went to the lake of Avalon. It was just outside the city. "This is beautiful, Merlin." "Not as beautiful as you, my darling." "What did you tell Arthur?" I asked. "I just told him, you needed to get away, but I would go with you. To protect you. I also told him we eloped last month, because he expressed concern about us spending the night together, fearing we'd let things go too far" I said "Good. It matches up to the conception date... But we are not married..." Merlin said "Let's fix that right now." I said "What?!" Shock must've been on my face. "You heard me, right, my dear. I said let's fix it now. Will you marry me?" "Took you long enough to ask. Hell yes." He laughed, and said "I'm sorry, dear." We eloped right there at the lake. He made a campsite appear. "There is a bed roll mat in our tent, I figured it'd be comfortable for you..." I smiled, laying my head on his shoulder. "This is perfect." I whispered. Merlin gave a boyish smile and said "I'm going to get dinner started. Do you have any special requests?" I said "Not at all. Just anything I'd be able to keep down would be nice." He smiled and kissed my head.
"Of course, my love. I know exactly what you need." He quickly started a fire and sat a couple logs around it. Once we ate dinner, and cleaned up we sat close to each other, My head resting on his shoulder. "What's on your mind?" He asked. "Everything. I am scared..." "What of?" he asked, and said "Of shaming you, and the family... Of... being pregnant... Of actually giving birth..." Merlin kissed my head and said "You could never. I'll be right beside you unless Arthur needs me." I looked to him. "I need you there when I give birth..." He said "That I can promise." The sun disappeared from the sky and Merlin said "You can go in the tent, and I'll be there in a moment, once I put out the fire." I smiled, and kissed his cheek, before going into the tent, and laid down on the mat. I could hear Merlin moving around outside, before he came in, and sat next to me. "Hey." I smiled, kissing him. We spent the next hour in pure bliss, before falling into a deep sleep.
In the morning, I woke to an empty tent. "Merlin?" He came back in and said "Hey. I'm here. Are you alright?" "Yeah... I'm okay now..." "No, you're not. What's wrong?" He sat beside me. "What happened?" I said "Really bad dream..." "What happened in it?" He asked as I sat up. "We need to get back to Camelot... By night." Was all I could say. "Of course. We'll leave right after breakfast." I nodded. "I'll get dressed, right away, and meet you out there." He nodded and said "If you need help let me know." I nodded, as he stepped out as I dressed before I went out to the firepit. "Here, sit and eat up." He whispered, kissing my head. "Eat up as much as you want, I'm going to get the supplies packed." I ate while he packed up everything. "I'm full..." He smiled, and packed up the leftovers, putting it in his bag. "I'll keep it in there in case you get hungry." "Aren't you going to eat?" "I ate while you dressed." He replied, as he heled me onto the horse, before getting on his. The first part of the ride was uneventful, but right after we started the second half, My horse freaked out, and I fell off. "MERLIN!" I shouted.
He stopped his horse instantly, turning, and hopping down, running over to me. "Are you alright?" He asked, placing an arm around me. "No..." I whispered. "My arm and leg hurts..." I moved my good arm around his neck, as he lifted me up, sitting me on his horse. "Stay on Okay?" He whispered before kicking my horse off. "Shoo! Away!" the horse ran in fear. Merlin hopped up on to his, and wrapped his arms around me, before urging the horse forward. We made it back to Camelot in time for dinner. Merlin tended to the horse in the stables, before helping me into Gaius's. "Gaius. We need you." He said, as I moaned uncomfortably. "Get her on the bed." He instructed, as Merlin helped me on the bed. "easy honey. I got you." "The baby..." I whispered. "Her horse knocked her off... She landed on her side..." Gaius made quick movements, tending to the injuries. "Merlin... The baby... What if..." He shushed me, and said "I can hear and feel the child's heartbeat. It's the strongest heartbeat, I've ever heard. He or she is just fine. If he or she wasn't I'd know. Just relax" I nodded, calming slowly. "Alright, her legs all casted up. Now I need to do her arm." We both nodded, as he finished fixing me up.
"There. All set. Now take it easy." Gaius said with a smile. Merlin said "I'll make sure of it." He helped me up as Gaius said "She'll need help getting around, and probably with eating... Even with cleaning..." I said "Yeah, it's fine..." Merlin nodded, and helped me to bed. "It's okay. You're okay." "I don't feel good...I think I'm going to be sick..." I looked to him, as he got a bucket sitting it close to the bed. "If you need it, it's right here... Okay?" I nodded but said "Where are you going?" He said "I was going to go see Arthur, let him know we are home..." I nodded, once as he covered me with a blanket over me. Arthur came in to the room, and over to us. "Thank God your back. The stable hands told me they saw you. Are you both alright?" I looked to him. "Ever hear of knocking?" I groaned. "She took ill on the road, we already got Gaius to take a look at her. She'll be alright." Merlin lied, before we both looked up. "Arthur, what's wrong?" Arthur said "Father was poisoned while you both were gone... We tried everything..." "He'll be okay right?" Arthur said "Morgana..."
"No. NO! There must be something!" I said sitting up despite the nausea creeping up. Merlin placed a hand on my shoulder. "Lay back down." I laid down but Arthur said "We've tried everything, He... left early in the morning in his sleep." I shook my head, rolling to my side. "I'm sorry sire..." Merlin whispered, rubbing my back. "Morgana, my love..." I heard Merlin say, kissing my cheek. "Sire, Do you need anything today? From either of us?" "Not during the day, but tonight, I will need both of you for more things than just one..." Merlin looked up, and said "What do you need sire?" "I need you guys there at my side, for the funeral... and for a wedding... I know timing sucks, but the corination is tomorrow, and I want it to be mine and my queens..." I rolled over to my back, looking to him. "Who's the girl?" I asked, as Merlin looked to me. "Gwen. I've loved her for a very long time... We never acted on our feelings until last night... and well, I asked her, and she agreed." I looked to him and said "She's my best friend! How could you!?" "How is this different then you and Merlin?!" "IT IS! Because you and Merlin weren't even friends before now!" I said, as Merlin propped me up. "I'm sorry. I just can't believe you woulld choose her, over any other woman..." I said looking away. Arthur said "Hey Merlin, can you give us a moment? Maybe go press my suit for tonight?" I saw Merlin nod, as he left the room with a kiss on my head.
"Morgana, you know I never would've approached her like this... Please believe me..." "You totally would have. But whatever. You do not need my permission or blessing so why does it matter?" Arthur frowned and said "You're my sister! You are one of the most important person to me right beside Camelot, and Gwen. Of course I want your approval, and your blessing!" I looked to him and said "But why her?! Of all people, Why HER!?" He said "I didn't plan it. I'm sorry, it hurts you." "I'm sorry. I don't know why I care so much... As long as you both are happy then that's all that should matter." He said "We are. I trust her with my life, and Camelot. Hell, I even trust her with your life and Merlin's!" I said "Just don't break her heart, or I will end you." He smiled, small. "Thank you, sister." I nodded, and said "What time do you need us tonight?" "Right at dinner." Arthur said. I said "Can't I meet you after dinner?" "No." Arthur replied. Merlin entered, and said "Arthur Gwen is looking for you." "Alright... I'll see both of you at dinner." He said as he left. Merlin sat on the bed.
"What's wrong my love?" Merlin asked. I said "I'm fine. I assure you. Just Arthur won't let me meet him and the others, after dinner..." He frowned. "But you don't look well... How could he be so... blind?! It was a reasonable request!" Merlin said, kissing my head. "do you want me to talk to him?" I shook my head. "No thank you. I'll be fine." "Why don't you close your eyes and try to rest for a little bit? I'll wake you in an hour or two." I shook my head. "Seriously. I'm fine..." He said "I insist." I snuggled into the bed, as he kissed my head, as I drifted to sleep.
"Hey, sweetie... Rise and shine..." Merin's voice whispered, as he gently shook my shoulder. "No..." I mumbled. "Sweetie. I let you sleep, later than I promised." I sat up, and said "What time is it?" He said "A little before dinner ends..." I got up and said "WHAT?! Arthur's going to have my head!" "No. Don't you worry about that. I've handled him myself." I looked to him and said "What do you mean?" I asked as he helped me dress. "I told him you fell asleep, and were unwell, and that I would check on you. I also said I would take any punishment, he decided to give." "Thank you." We went to the funeral, and the wedding before we retired to our room. "Do you feel weak, and dizzy still?" "Yes... I'm sorry..." He helped me into a nightgown and eased me onto the bed. "Do you want me to get Gaius?" I bit my lip, before saying "Don't disturb him tonight. I'm sure I just need a really good night's rest." I saw him nod, as he changed, and laid beside me, pulling me close. "Sleep now my wife. Sleep."
In the morning, I woke nestled in my husband's arms. "Morning my wife. Are you feeling well?" I shook my head, nestled in his arms. "I'm going to get Gaius." he said as he got up from the bed. "Do you and he have the power to communicate in mind? I don't feel comfortable being alone..." Merlin said "no, my love. I'll be right back. I promise." I nodded as Merlin kissed my head, before leaving. When he returned, he was alone. He sat next to me, as he said "He'll come to check on you soon. I promise. He had just woken up and getting ready. I also saw Arthur, he needs me to help him get ready for tonight... and Gwen wanted to see you. I told him you were still feeling terribly unwell, and probably wouldn't be up to company. How do you feel?" "I feel so horrible, Merlin. I don't even know if I can stand to go to the coronation tonight... I..." "I can feel it my love. Let's see what Gaius says, and If he says to stay behind, I'll deal with Arthur myself." "I can't let you..." I felt his lips on mine, before he said "Shh. It's my choice. Okay?"
"Merlin! It's Gaius, is everyone descent?" Merlin said "It's open!" Gaius entered and came over to me. "How we feeling?" He asked, as Merlin sat beside me. "Honestly or lie?" I said, laying my head on Merlin's chest. "He obviously wants the truth my darling wife." I shook my head. "I don't feel well, at all." I whispered. Merlin said "She's weak and dizzy. Can barely stand, and honestly, I've never seen her look this poorly..." Merlin's hand was on my forehead, gently caressing. "MERLIN! WHERE IS THAT LAZY EXCUSE FOR A SERVANT!" "I'll be back." He whispered, as he ran to the door. Gaius gave me a head to toe exam frowning. "I don't like what I'm seeing... Can you call Merlin?"
'Merlin! We need you.' 'Arthur's having a crisis. Can it wait my love?' 'No. Gaius requested you back here. Said something about not liking what he found.' 'Shit... Alright, I told Arthur I'd be right back. I'm coming to you.' I looked to Gaius and said "He's on his way." Just then Merlin entered the room. "Hey I'm here. Can we please make this quick?" He looked at Gaius, who said "Of course. So When I examined, her I found some alarming things." "Like what?" Merlin asked. "She's severely underweight than I'd like her to be. The baby isn't going to survive if she doesn't put on weight... The weakness, and dizziness she's feeling is a sign she's not getting what she needs. Merlin, this is serious. Okay?" "Stop talking over me as if I am not here!" I felt tears in my eyes, as Merlin's eyes shot right to mine. "What do we need to do?" I asked. Gaius looked to me and said "You need to eat more." I just looked away. "I can't eat more! Every time I do I feel sick to my stomach! No remedies help, not even Merlin's magic!" I cried. Merlin looked to me.
"Honey calm down sweetheart. Gaius there's got to be a way..." Merlin whispered. "MERLIN!" I heard Arthur shout, as he entered, without knocking. I yanked the blanket over me. "I'll be there, in a minute Arthur! Gosh." Athur said "What is more important than your job?" I saw Merlin look to me, and say "My wife's health." "Oh please! She's just got a hangover. Just wait till tonight! She'll be worse tomorrow!" "She got drunk!?" Merlin said, as our eyes met. "Are you new here? No ones pregnant! Of course she had alcohol!" I cried pulling away from everyone. "Honey..." Merlin said touching my head. "Damn it Gaius. Could the alcohol be the cause of this?" Gaius said "It's not helping, Merlin. She needs her rest now. She will not be going to the coronation tonight." Merlin placed a hand on my shoulder. "Sweetie, I'll be back." I didn't even respond to his touch.
I don't even know how long it was, but I didn't move from the bed. 'Merlin. I need you... Something's wrong.' 'What's wrong?' 'I'm cramping... I can't move.' 'Alright, honey. I'm sending Gaius. I'll be there as soon as I can.' 'NO! I NEED YOU! NOT GAIUS!' 'Alright, Alright. I'm coming.' I heard the door open and I felt a hand on my shoulder. "Honey." I felt him help me to my back, my tears evident. "Sweetie. I'm here, what's wrong? What can I do for you?" "Hold me." I whispered, through the tears. I felt him lift me to his arms, and sitting with me on his lap, before he realized something. "Umm sweetie... You're bleeding..." My eyes shot up to look at him. "No... I can't be..." "Honey... I'm sorry... You are. I see it..." His arms tightened. "NO!" I felt him rock me back and forth. It seemed like forever before I must've fallen asleep. I only felt him lay me on the couch in the suite.
When I woke, Merlin was walking back into the room. "Morgana, I'm back." I sat up and looked to him numbly.
