Chapter 15-The Farm

Daryl's P.O.V

Ten minutes earlier

Daryl and Amy walk through the woods. Both watching the grounds. "Daryl," Amy says as she points at tracks on the ground. Daryl nods as they slowly walk through the woods until they see a deer. Amy looks at Daryl who nods. Amy moves away from Daryl and pulls an arrow out of her quiver. She pulls the arrow back. A gunshot goes off. Amy and the deer fall to the ground. Daryl drops his crossbow and runs over to Amy sliding down beside her. "Amy, open your eyes, Amy open your eyes," Daryl says as he grabs her shoulder. "Open you damn eyes!"

"I didn't, I didn't see her until I pulled the trigger," He hears a man say behind him. Daryl grabs his gun and turns around aiming it at the man. "I'm gonna kill you!" Daryl shouts.

"She's still breathing," The man says. "There's a farm, a doctor is there, he can help her."

"Where?"

"South, a mile away," Daryl holsters his gun and grabs his crossbow. He puts it around his back and pulls his belt off. "You're gonna be okay," Daryl says a she wraps it around her. He picks Amy up.

"Just keep going south. Tell them I sent you."

"You're coming, if she dies. I'll kill you," Daryl growls as he starts to run through the woods.

The farm

Daryl's shirt was red as he finally saw the house. He saw a woman go inside and then two men, and four women come out. "I need help," Daryl says as he gets to the house. "What happened, was she bit?"

"Shot, by your man," Daryl tells him.

"Otis?" The blond woman says.

"Yes," Daryl says. "Bring her inside," The older man says as he opens the door and Daryl follows him in. "In here," The older man says. "Lay her down."

Daryl lays her down and takes a set back. He watches as the man and the blond woman start to look at her. "Sir," The older man says, making Daryl look at him. "Is this your wife?" "No, friend," Daryl says.

"Do you know her blood type?" He asks. "No, but I'm...I'm a universal donor," Daryl says. "Stay close, she is going to need blood," He tells him. "What's your name?" "Daryl...Daryl Dixon, that's Amy."

"I'm Hershel. Daryl, we're going to do all we can. But we need space," Hershel tells Daryl who nods as he slowly leaves the room. He walks outside as Otis gets to the farm.

"Is she alive?" Otis asks Daryl who nods.

"Sir," Daryl turns around and looks at a blond woman. She stood at 5 feet, 5 inches. She had a slim build, long wavy blond hair and blue eyes. "Here's some water," She says as she holds it out to Daryl who takes it and takes a drink.

"Daryl!" He hears Hershel shout. Daryl goes inside the house as Patricia holds Amy down. "She needs blood."

"You're going to kill her," Daryl says. "This is how I save her. But she needs blood," Hershel tells Daryl who nods as he sits down and the blond woman comes over to him.

Daryl watches Hershel as he removes part of a bullet. "That ain't a whole bullet."

"No it isn't," Hershel says. "The bullet broke into multiple fragments. This is the most shallow but the problem is, I need better supplies than what I have here."

"The old school?" Otis says from the door.

"It would have what we need but that is very risky."

"I can get it," The blond says.

"Lexi," Hershel says. "I know you have more experience out there than we do, but the last time we were there. The place was overrun."

"Hershel, if I go now, I can get in and out."

"Let me come with you," Otis says. "We'll be able to get more and I know what I'm looking for," Otis says. "Otis, no," Patricia says. "Honey, that girl is lying there because of me. I need to help." "We leave in ten minutes," Lexi says as she leaves the room. "Are you two alone?" Hershel asks Daryl who shakes his head.

"We have a group on the highway. Her sister is there."

"I'll get them," A brunette says.

"Maggie..."

"Daddy, I'll take the jeep and I'll be back within an hour," Maggie says. "Her sister should be here."

Hershel nods as Maggie leaves.

Glenn's P.O.V

The group stood around the R.V. "We need to go and look for them," Andrea says.

"The only people who know how to track are Daryl, Merle, and Amy."

"Then I'll find them," Merle says.

"Merle you can barely walk, you won't even make it down that hill," Rick says. "That's my baby brother out there!" Merle growls. "Now you bunch of pussies can sit here and wait for 'em to come back but I ain't," Merle says.

"I never thought I would say this, but I agree with Merle," T-dog says as they hear a car. They lay their hands on their guns as Maggie climbs out of the jeep. "I'm looking for Andrea."

"I'm Andrea," Andrea says. "Who are you?"

"My name is Maggie, Daryl sent me here, Amy was shot."

"Is she...is she alive?" Andrea asks Maggie who nods.

"Yes, but I need to take you there, all of you."

"Andrea, go with her, how do we find you?" Glenn asks.

"Backtrack to Fairburn Road. Two miles down is a farm. You'll see the mailbox Greene," Maggie says. "We need to go." Andrea nods as she looks at Merle. "You coming?"

"Hell yeah, Blondie. I'm coming," Merle says as he starts to follow her.

Daryl's P.O.V

Daryl sat by the bed watching Amy. "You two aren't together?" Hershel asks as he comes into the room.

"No," Daryl says. Hershel nods as he sits down beside Amy and starts to check her blood pressure. "Did you know her before all this?" Hershel asks Daryl who shakes his head.

"No, before all this it was just my brother and I," Daryl says. "Amy and Glenn, well they were the first people to give me a chance in a long time."

Hershel nods as Amy's eyes flutter open. "Daryl," She says weakly. "I'm here," Daryl says as he takes her hand. "You're going to be okay. How are you feeling?"

"Like I got shot," Amy says, making Daryl chuckle. "Who's your friend?" "I'm Hershel. You should rest, you're gonna need it."

"I'll be here when you wake up, Andrea should be here soon," Daryl tells Amy who nods as she closes her eyes. After a couple of minutes, Daryl looks at Hershel. "How long do they have to get the supplies?" "I would say 5 to 7 hours," Hershel says as they hear the door open and Andrea comes into the room.

"How's she doing?"

"She just went back to sleep," Daryl says as Merle comes in. "Hershel, that's Andrea, Amy's sister and Merle, my brother."

"Why don't you get something to drink, Daryl. Give Andrea a moment with her sister," Merle says. Daryl looks at Hershel who nods as Daryl stands up and follows Merle.

Lexi's P.O.V

Lexi stops the truck away from the school and climbs out. "So what's the plan," Otis asks as they move towards the school.

"We're going to need one of them," Lexi says as they bend down and see a hoard of walkers around the school. Lexi bends down and sees a walker in front of one of the cars. She removes her knife and taps it against the car making the walker come towards them. She grabs it and stabs her knife into it's head. She lays the walker down slowly and looks at Otis. "Why do we need this?" "If we cover ourselves in their blood, we can walk through them," Lexi tells him.

"Are you serious?"

"Yes, it works Otis, trust me," Lexi tells him. "Alright," Otis says as she starts to cut the walker open.

Shane's P.O.V

Shane stops his car in front of the farmhouse. He climbs out of his car as Hershel walks outside with Daryl. Glenn walks up to Daryl. "How's she doing?" Glenn asks.

"We're just waiting. Two of Hershel's people went to go get the supplies he'll need to help her," Daryl says. "You can set up by those trees," Hershel tells them. "Thank you," Glenn says. Hershel nods as he goes inside. "You staying up here?" Shane asks Daryl who nods as he goes inside. "Alright, let's get camp set up," Glenn says. The group nods as they start to move down to the trees. "What are you thinking?" Travis asks as he walks up to Shane. "Nothing, this is exactly what we're looking for, a place like this," Shane says as he looks around the farm. "Maybe he'll let us stay," Travis says.

"Maybe," Shane says as he looks at the house and then walks away.

Andrea's P.O.V

Andrea looks at Daryl as he walks into the room with Hershel. Hershel has Daryl sit down. "He's been giving your sister blood. Do you share the same blood type?" Hershel asks Andrea who shakes her head. "I'm going to go look at your brother's leg. I'll be back in a moment," Hershel tells them. "What happened?" Andrea asks. "We saw a deer and Amy went to take the shop and Otis shot and the bullet went through the deer into Amy," Daryl says. "Felt like time slowed down."

"You really do care about her."

"I have a heart, I swear," Daryl says, making Andrea chuckle.

"I know I've been a bitch, but I do appreciate what you've done for her," Andrea says and Daryl nods as he looks outside.

"It will be dark soon, hopefully they'll be back soon," Daryl says.

Merle's P.O.V

Merle sat at the table as Hershel looked at his leg. "What happened?" "Got in a fight, it didn't end well for me," Merle says. "I can see that," Hershel says. "It is healing well, you should be able to walk without those crutches soon."

Merle nods. "So you're a doctor?"

"A vet," Hershel says.

"You're a vet? Like you worked on fucking animals?"

"Yes," Hershel says. "Can you do this? That girl is on a very small list of people I care about, I would like her to keep breathing," Merle says.

"I can do this. As long as Otis and Lexi get the supplies back here soon, I'll be able to save her."

"Lexi? Who is that? I saw the brunette, the younger man and the blond."

"Maggie is the brunette, she's my daughter and so is the younger blond, that's Beth and Jimmy is her boyfriend, Patricia is Otis's wife. Lexi, her parents owned a farm not far from here, she was visiting when all this happened and they got attacked by the infected, her parents didn't make it but she fought her way out, when she showed up, she was covered in blood. Her and Maggie do the runs into town," Hershel tells Merle who nods. "So she knows what she is doing out there?" Merle asks Hershel who nods as they hear a car. Merle grabs his crutches and follows Hershel outside as Lexi and Otis get out of the car. They had their bags but both of them were covered in blood. "We're okay, here go help that girl," Lexi says as she hands the supplies to Hershel who nods.

Daryl's P.O.V

Daryl, Andrea, Merle, and Glenn sat outside the house as Dale came up to them. "They still in there?" Dale asks. "Yes," Daryl answers. "You guys set up?"

"Yeah, they're eating down there."

They nod as the door opens and Hershel walks out. They stand up and look at the older man who smiles. "She is going to be okay," Hershel says. "Thank you," Andrea says as she hugs the older man.

"You can stay in the house tonight with her," Hershel tells her. "We should all get some sleep. It has been a long day."

"You staying?" Andrea asks Daryl. "She would like you to be there when she wakes up." Daryl looks at Hershel who nods. "We'll see you guys tomorrow."
