Waking up she felt the heavy weight next to her and the memories from last night came crawling back to her, she cringed as she remembered what she did. There was someone in her bed and right now they needed to be out, she couldn't be dealing with anyone else when her head hurt this bad.

She turned over and without really looking at the body she shook him awake, "you need to leave."

"What? What time is it?" The stranger asked, she thought his name was Max.

"I don't know and I don't really care, what I do care about is you getting out of my house." She pulled the duvet up to her chest.

He closed his eyes again and resulted in being pushed off the bed by Meredith. "Hey, I said go."

"What the hell?!" He said angrily and obviously embarrassed.

"Get dressed and go." She fell back onto her bed and closed her eyes. She could hear him sighing as he was getting dressed clearly pissed at her but who cared, she didn't even know the guy and she definitely wouldn't be seeing him again. "I'm going the bathroom and when I come back you won't be here. At all."

She dragged herself to the bathroom, every bone in her body hurting and screaming tequila, as she knelt in front of the toilet she heard the door slam with the sound making her wince as she groaned. Every time she drank tequila she vowed to never drink it again, some day she'd learn from her mistakes and she thought that day could be today... never mind. She forced herself to be sick and once she was finished she went to get a bottle of water from the fridge.

"Good morning champ." Cristina smirked as she sat on the sofa eating a bowl of cereal.

"Not now." She dismissed her with her hand.

"Late night?" She teased.

Meredith looked at her and cringed, sharing a college house was all fun and games until everyone knew your business. "How can you even look at food right now?"

"Not everyone gets wrecked by tequila. You're just a freaking lightweight."

"I am not."

"You so are."

"I'm not!"

"Oh you want to go there?" Cristina laughed as she looked her up and down, Meredith then looked at herself and shrugged.

She walked over to the sofa and sat on the opposite side to Cristina laying her head on the arm.

"What'd you do last night?" Meredith turned to her.

"It's not a matter of what as supposed to who." She smirked.

"Of course." She rolled her eyes laughing, "so?"

"Oh I don't know his name. Just someone from the bar, what about you?"

"I can't remember, max I think?" She frowned making her friend laugh.

Cristina was definitely having an influence on Meredith. Ever since her boyfriend Finn had broken up with Meredith over the summer Cristina had made it her personal mission to get Meredith over the loser as soon as possible, she thought the best way to do that was just for Mer to let loose and from her own eyes, she knew Finn was doing the exact same thing, not that Meredith knew that though, she might not be an affectionate friend but she didn't want to see her anymore torn up over him then she was when he broke up with her.

"What about the other guy? You seemed chummy with him." She lifted her eyebrow.

"What other guy?" She froze trying to remember what she had done.

"The guy from the bar, head full of dark hair?"

"Ohhhh, him. That was nothing." Meredith twisted the hem on her shorts.

"Didn't look like it was nothing, he liked you and you definitely liked him."

"I didn't even get his name." Meredith laughed.

"Does he go here?"

"I wouldn't know. I haven't seen him here before so maybe not."

"Hmm." Cristina muttered as she took a spoonful of her cereal.

"Wanna go for coffee?" Meredith asked, "I just need to shower and then we can go."

"Sure."

She got up and went back to her room to shower and freshen herself up, the strong smell of her conditioner momentarily made her stomach turn but once she turned to water cold for a few seconds she felt okay. Once she was freshened up she threw on a pair of grey joggers and a navy blue hoodie with her black converse, her blonde hair in a loose bun at the top of her head that was already falling out. They left the apartment quickly and walked to the nearest coffee shop where she ordered an iced brown sugar espresso in hopes of it curing her monster hangover.

"I'm just going to the bathroom." Cristina pointed to the door and Meredith nodded, leaving her to wait for their drinks.

The barista called out her order and as she turned around with the coffee in her hand to go to a table she turned right into somebody's chest and watched the coffee hit the floor, she whined as she looked down at it.

"I'm really sorry, that was totally my fault." She looked up at the voice.

It was the man from the bar. Not the guy this morning, the other one.

"Hey, I know you. We met at the bar last night right?" He smiled gesturing to her.

"Yeah." She rubbed her head.

"Let me re-buy your coffee." He offered.

"No don't worry about it, it's two." She said.

"Oh, buying coffee for your guy?" His expression changed.

"What?" She looked at him confused.

"Your guy. The one you left the bar with... or was he just a stranger you took home?" He asked with judgement evident.

"I don't even know who you are and you don't get to talk to me like that. I can do or sleep with whoever I want." She scoffed with a frown.

He looked at the anger on her face and realised she was right, why was he even jealous? As she said, he didn't even know her.

"You're right, I'm sorry. Let's start over, I'm Derek." He held his hand out, she analysed him carefully before putting her hand out.

"Meredith."

"Meredith." He repeated loving the way her name rolled off his tongue. "You go to school here?"

"I do. Second year med student."

"Really? Me too. Well not second year, fourth but med student too." He chuckled.

"Mer." Someone called her name. She turned to her friend who was pointing at the coffee on the floor shaking her head. "Again? Really?"

"I-" she started before Derek interrupted.

"It was my fault." He offered the girl.

"Oh don't take the blame, she has a track record." She joked them both watching as Meredith blushed. "You buying us our coffees again then?"

"Cristina!" Meredith hissed and Cristina shrugged.

"What? He said it was his fault." Derek chuckled.

"Yeah, what was your order?" He asked.

Cristina told him their order and Meredith excused herself for the bathroom totally embarrassed by her friends bluntness.

"I recognise you from the bar, did you get her number?" Cristina asked Derek.

"You don't have a problem with forwardness do you?"

"Well why beat around the bush?"

He smiled as he thought about getting Meredith's number, "No, I didn't. I only just got her name."

"Ah. Well not to play matchmaker but hand me your phone." Her hand fell open. He shook his head laughing but gave her his phone.

She quickly put her friends number in and passed his phone back to him just in time for Meredith to get back. Their drinks were called again and they thanked him before heading out, his and Meredith's eyes attached a little longer than they should have been. As they opened their apartment door Meredith's phone chimed.

Enjoy the coffee.

The number was unknown but she looked up as Cristina smirked sipping her coffee and knew exactly who it was.
