"Come on, you gotta tell us man! Sammy's itching to know how the Universe starts", Dean insists Castiel to tell the hunters about how Creation was formed.
"Dean, it is a very serious mystery that cannot be told to you guys. Your mortal mind will literally blow up in insanity if I got too visceral with the details", Castiel trying to tell off the hunters. "Plus, isn't it better that the beauty of Creation lies in its mystery?", the hunters yell and boo at Cas' response.
The Winchesters and Castiel came to Harvelle's Roadhouse for another round of celebration after another successful hunt against a rogue Star that almost blew up another of God's newly created Multiverse. Which sounds as strange as it is literal. Team Free Will, as Dean jokingly coined, has become a living legend in the hunter's community. Sam, Dean, Castiel and Bobby have averted the Apocalypse, an event where Creation should have been wiped clean. Instead, the universe is allowed to continue, at the hand of "one ex-blood junkie, one drop-out with six bucks to his name, and Mr. Comatose". The details might be less glamorous as it sounds, but it was a big accomplishment nonetheless. After the flop Apocalypse, Heaven and Hell closed down. The Archangel Lucifer, Michael and Gabriel have left Creation to talk things out, maybe to start something new, something greater than God's own Creation. It matters not. Michael left Heaven, its soul and its Angels in the charge of the Seraphim. Nevertheless, some angels decided to bail out as free will is now an option for these celestial beings. Castiel fully embraced his opportunity instead of leading the Angels with his brethren. Sam has finished his Stanford education while continuing the family business. Dean settled down with Lisa Branden, opened up a pretty successful burger-and-pie restaurant but he continued his hunt on occasions. Castiel joined the hunter community and worked with Sam and Dean whenever they called him. When hunting is not a part of his work, the Angel in the trench coat spends his time traveling around the world to understand how Earth and human culture works. Castiel also gripped Jo and Ellen Harvelle out of perdition, restoring their Roadhouse along the way. All is fine and dandy.
"Oh oh oh, I heard that in order to quell the mad star, you turned into the darkness itself to consume it. Is that true?", a young hunter eagerly asked.
Castiel, his expression blank and serious as ever, came close to the young one's earshot and whispered, "Don't ask stupid questions". Dean could easily tell Cas is in the mood for jokes after a hard day.
"Well, well, if it isn't the three biggest idjits in all of God's balls here", Bobby Singer's grouchy voice came out of nowhere. Ever since Cas booted him back from Lucifer's neck twist, Bobby left the hunting business. He's only here for nostalgia, and because Sam and Dean are still his wayward sons.
"Hello Bobby", Sam, Dean and Cass collectively said in unison.
"So, what can I get for you big boys here", Ellen asked, her voice coming out of the kitchen.
"Double cheeseburger and pie", Dean ordered
"Umm…Salad, please", Sam ordered sheepishly, knowing that Dean will kill him for that.
"Uh, some strong liquor", Castiel ordered. He doesn't know what kind of food he wants to get, so he settles for strong liquor, a reminiscence of the one time he beats Ellen in a drinking contest.
This was a very crowded and eventful night at the Roadhouse, and Castiel is getting much attention because he is an Angel, a being according to the lore, is endowed with God's divine omnipotence and incomprehensible wisdom. He was famous for lots of things despite his involvement being very recent. Cass fished Dean out of Hell, getting killed by the angel Raphael and resurrected very soon afterward. Oh, and he got resurrected again, helped convince the Demiurgic Archangels to leave Creation and averted all the havoc Lucifer sent. Wormwood, Croatoan, the Horsemen, the Tree of Death rising from Hell and reaching beyond the firmament, all the craziest things Cass had helped humanity prevent. He is the only Angel who cared to give humanity a second chance! And the hunters admired him for that.
"So, I heard this trench coat idjit here turned himself into the abysmal chaos to consume a star. That right?", Bobby Singer curiously asked.
Castiel sheepishly chugged a few beer bottles to get himself into shape for talking, before finally answering. "Yes, I did. And if there's any details that might sound exaggerated or metaphorical, it's all literal".
The hunters gathered and listened to all that. They were damn impressed with that. Despite the oddity of their job, no hunters had reached the cosmic level like Team Free Will ever did. Which brings us back to the beginning, where Sammy got a little curious with Castiel's involvement in God's business. The Angel answered while giving out the visual projection to his story:
"So, in simple terms here. Before there was, God is all there is. Perfect in His Way and undivided. In his solitude, he decided to end his loneliness. He started with the three Archangels. Michael, Lucifer then Gabriel. They were the very first being God created. Imbued with direct powers from God, they are nearly omnipotent. Saving God, they are perhaps the most powerful there is. God tasked the Archangels to construct, and construct they did. They started with building the fabric of Nothingness. But it was not enough that a void was born. Lucifer, with his vast creativity and wisdom, came up with the solution of a Creation, and so the Archangels made the cosmos. Gabriel thought up with the beings to inhabit the world they make, and so they created other beings to fill it in. To furnish and maintain the world his sons had created, God created us, the Angels. The Archangels manifest their ideas, and so the undivided potential is beaten into shape. When we came along, we were comforted by our older brothers. We were imbued with God's omnipotence like our brothers. Our older brothers groomed us, letting us create however we want it to be. So we organized and we planned. Channeling God's powers, we built reality from nothingness and we shape it with our will. We channel our inner essences into the ontological principles of reality, and with our evocations, our very will and being, we create from nothing. Abstract concepts, any you can think of like time, reality, causality, we created it all", Castiel explained heartily despite his resistance.
"Seems like a very confusing and convoluting story here, Cass", Ellen and Jo mused.
"It is indeed. So let's leave it here, shall we?"
The hunters decided to drop it at that as well, for all of the beautiful projection work, Castiel is no good a storyteller. Half of them were sleeping, Dean included, and only Sam managed himself by the end of the story.
"Well, Lisa's calling me back for Ben. So I'll see you guys in the next hunt", Dean said, a little tired from sleeping in Castiel's story. He returned home to his girlfriend and Sammy left the Roadhouse not so long afterwards. Castiel paid the bar tab and left for Vietnam, where it is already the next day.
