Everyone in New York was walking one night, holding candles and singing "Another Day" from RENT, more commonly known as "No Day But Today." In the community center back in Ohio, Claire and the rest of Treble Base were gearing up for Regionals. Seeing as how they had prepared all they needed to, they just needed the right setlist. Claire walked up to them and said, "Listen, I think we need a new routine." Jake said, "Even after all we've been through, we're still not good enough to beat Throat Explosion." Marley said, "What we need to do is something so epic, it'll really knock those sleazy smiles off their faces." Kitty said, "As long as they're the only ones." Ryder said, "Well, even if that's true, how are we going to shove it down their throats?" Claire said, "By being the best team we can be." Jake said, "Claire, since you're not on the football team anymore, you have been going over a lot of songs lately. Don't you think you've earned a little break?" "I've done enough resting. I'm ready. And you guys have to be ready, too. Austin, Ann, JJ - we need you guys to come out on top. Can you do that?" Austin said, "Just say the word." Ann said, "I'm with you, too." JJ said, "Right. What are we doing again?" Anne Marie groaned. Ian facepalmed. Wade said, "We are so screwed." The next day, Rachel and Blaine were singing "Broadway Baby." Everyone applauded. Tibideaux said, unenthused, "Excellent performance." Kurt said, "Just for the record, Carmen Tibideaux is a bitch." Oh, did you just notice that? Rachel said, "Um, I feel like we should go back to Lima this week." "Why?" "To see Claire and the others perform at Regionals." "I don't know, Rachel. What if someone recognizes us from New Directions?" "We're obviously recognizable, Kurt, but we're not the ones who are performing, remember?" "Well, maybe it could be fun." "Great. Ask Blaine if he wants to come, too." She walked off.
Will was watching TV one day and saw that there was a news report. Claire was on the TV with the others gearing up for Regionals, and Will was stunned. At the theater, the announcer called, "Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the 2014 Show Choir Regionals! Let's meet all our judges. From Sex and the City, Kristin Davis! From Drop Dead Diva, Miss Brooke Elliot! And all the way from California, give it up for famous YouTuber, Mr. Tyler Oakley!" Applause and cheering ensued. Rachel, Kurt and Blaine all found their seats. Claire said, "All right, guys. Remember your roles in all this. Remember the arts and be proud." Sugar and Joe got into their dress and suit. The announcer called, "First up, from Lima, Ohio, Treble Base!" Rachel said, "Oh, my God, they're going first." Blaine said, "Well, that's showbiz." Curtains opened. Claire said, "Hi. I'm Claire Thomas and we are Treble Base. Hope you all enjoy the show." Techno music started to play and they all started to sing "Ready For Anything" by Jason Munday of Skyway Flyer. Kurt said, "Oh, my God, they're doing Star Wars songs." Rachel said, "Now that you mention it, I thought those lyrics sounded familiar." Applause and cheering. Tyler Oakley impressed and excited. Then they started singing "The Empire," and afterwards segued into "Lapti Nek." As soon as the other two teams performed, the judges were getting ready to debate. Tyler started off. "Well, I for one have had a blast. I really enjoyed that Treble Base team. They had it all. I mean, singing the original Star Wars trilogy? What more could you want?" Brooke Elliot said, "The first two songs weren't actually in the first two movies." "No, but some of the lyrics were. I mean, you don't just make stuff like that up." Kristin Davis said, "Personally, I thought they were too easy. If those kids actually want to succeed in show business, they need to dig a whole lot deeper than that." Brooke said, "Oh, come on, Kristin. Have an open mind." "I do have an open mind." Tyler said, "Let me be frank. Those other teams, they were awesome. I just don't think they have the 'it' factor." "Is that what you tell yourself? This is Regionals. Okay, not every team gets to go on." Brooke said, "Unless there's a tie." Tyler said, "Can we just vote already?" Kristin said, "Your choices are yours to live with." The announcer said, "Presenting the award, Mr. Owen Wilson!" Applause and cheers again. Owen Wilson said, "Now, it is so nice to see so many high schoolers with talent. Everybody here performed exceptionally, but there can only be one winner. Let's just see who it is." He opened the first place envelope. "Treble Base! You're going to Nationals!" Applause and cheering. Rachel, Kurt and Blaine cheered. Rachel said, "Oh!" Kurt said, "Oh! Oh, my God!" They hugged. Marley jumped up and down. Unique and Kitty hugged. Jake and Ryder bumped chests. Austin and JJ did a high-five. Austin said, "Yeah!"
In the community center, Claire was about to take off. "Okay, great job, guys. I'll see you all later." Will clapped his hands. "Now I know what you've been doing since New Directions disbanded last year." "Mr. Shue, please." "What am I supposed to do, Claire? What do you expect me to hear from you? That you started a new glee club behind my back?" "I didn't do this alone. Anne Marie and Ian are coaching us, and the others wanted to do it, too. I just needed their approval." "Did you really think you were gonna pull this off? That Sue Sylvester wouldn't find out? That if she ever did, she'd shut you down faster than she did us?" "We took every single kind of precaution. We knew the risks. We signed a bunch of contracts. It's all totally legal. Now we're on our way to Nationals, and like it or not, this is happening. We love music, Mr. Shue. And I get that you're bummed about not teaching music anymore…but we're doing this." Will nodded, "I just have one thing to say. … I'm proud of you." Claire was surprised a bit. "You actually took what I taught and passed it on to a new team. You took charge, you made a few demands, and above all else, you stuck with it through and through. I support you, Claire. You would've made Sue crumble. Treble Base, huh?" "Too nerdy?" "Too you." They hugged. "You're gonna do great, Claire."
