The school year ended with Claire graduating high school. Anne Marie and Ian were proudly at the podium announcing the graduating seniors of McKinley. Anne Marie said, "Rory Flanagan." Ian said, "Joseph Hart." "Sugar Motta." Al Motta said, "That's my girl." Ian said, "And last but not least, Claire Thomas." They all got up and cheered. Rachel said, "Whoo!" Emma shouted, "Whoo-hoo!" Claire shook hands with them and they hugged. Tina shouted, "Way to go, Claire!" Claire and the other seniors moved their tassels and threw their caps up in the air. Anne Marie said, "Everyone, the McKinley High graduating class of 2014!" In the choir room, Claire took off her cap and gown. Will walked in and said, "Congratulations, Claire. Not just for graduating high school, but also for winning Nationals and coming so far. But more importantly, for bringing everyone back together again. You really made everyone's year." "You know we won Nationals?" "Are you kidding? I saw it on TV. You guys were so amazing. I'm only sorry that the others won't be back to do it again next year. So, what's next for you?" "I think I'm gonna go back to New York, see how the others are doing." "I'm sure they'll be more than happy to see you there." "Thanks, Mr. Shue." They hug. Emma said, "Oh, Claire. Congratulations." They hug. Beiste said, "You have made this year one hell of a ride. And Anne Marie and Ian? They really know their stuff." In the community center, Claire walked in and the lower-class-men said, "Surprise!" Sugar said, "Ah!" Joe said, "Wow." Rory chuckled. Sugar said, "You guys, you didn't have to do this all for us." Joe said, "It's a pretty sweet cake, though." Marley said, "Claire, we just wanted to say thank you again. You really made Treble Base worthwhile." Kitty said, "It was a pretty sweet ride, even though it only did run for about a year." Unique said, "Maybe the new kids can still have fun with music now that this is it all over again." Austin said, "Yeah, we all had a blast." Ann said, "And it's only just begun." JJ said, "You gave us all a chance, so maybe one day we can all do the same." Jake said, "And even though this is the end of Treble Base, at least for now, we can all go home and celebrate, knowing that we all won Nationals this time around." Ryder said, "First place, baby!" They all said, "Yeah!" Back in New York, Sidney Green's brother, Solomon, said that Sidney got hit by a bus and is in the hospital recovering. Claire walked in, "Hey, hey, hey!" Rachel said, "Hey!" They all clapped and cheered. Rachel hugged her. "Congratulations. You were so amazing. I really loved what you did at Nationals." Kurt and Blaine hugged her next. Kurt said, "You were so good." Blaine said, "You really made us proud." Mercedes hugged her, "We really missed you." Artie hugged her next. "So, now that you're done with school, do you know what college will accept you yet." Claire said, "Well, I've already applied to three acting schools, but I haven't gotten acceptance letters from any of them yet." Sam said, "Well, I know you'll get into at least one. Because performing is all of our lives, right?" The other said, "Yeah," while they hugged.
So, Artie was doing well in film school. Sam was doing his male modeling career. Even Mercedes was finally on her way to being one of the best recording artists that ever was. She hit a few bumps in the road, but she's getting there. Speaking of which, Shelby and Jack may be planning to move to LA, since Shelby might be starring in a brand new drama series. The consultant still hadn't arrived yet, but when she does, Rachel will support Shelby every step of the way. It was the least she could do since Shelby helped her achieve her dream. However, Funny Girl was on indefinite hiatus for a while until further notice. There was a knock on the door. Rachel said, "That must be her. Okay, be cool, you guys. I don't want her to feel alienated." Kurt said, "We should invite Mary over to our showcase, right? I mean, Shelby shouldn't be the only one with a chance to be on screen." But when Rachel opened the door… Brittany said, "What up, bitches?" Rachel said, "Brittany? What are you doing here?" They hugged. Mercedes said, "Brit, I thought you were on Lesbian Island." Brittany said, "No, I lost my passport. Where's Santana?" "Oh, she's in Iowa. She's been shooting a commercial there for a week. Apparently, they have the best wheat fields. She didn't call and tell you?" "No. I gave away my cell phone. It's been really hard." The next day, Rachel was in Shelby and Jack's loft. Knock on door. Rachel said, "I'll get it." Mary said, "Hi. I'm Mary Halloran." "Hi. I'm Rachel Berry. This is my sister, Shelby Corcoran." "And who is that hunky dreamboat over there?" Shelby said, "My husband, Jack Masterson." "Hey, gotta respect the dibs." "I saw him first." Rachel whispered to Kurt, "Technically, I saw him first, but why spoil it for her?" Kurt smiled and nodded. Mary said, "So, tell me a little bit about yourselves." Rachel said, "Well, I have two gay dads." "Amazing. We can use that." "Oh, okay. Good." "Do they work for NASA?" "No, they don't. Um, anyway, my sister used to be a vocal coach." Shelby said, "Yeah, my walls are lines with trophies." Rachel asked, "So, how did you start writing?" Mary said, "Well, my freshman year at Princeton."
Claire walked back and forth. Anne Marie said, "You've been doing that for 10 minutes. They'll send you a letter." "If they did, it would've been here by now." Ian said, "Maybe they got lost in the mail or something." They glare at him. "Hey, this is New York. It happens." Anne said, "Look, Claire, it's still early. You just graduated. You should be having a party. You should be celebrating. You won prom queen, you won Nationals." "And you really helped Jermaine raise a lot of money for that community center." Claire said, "Is that enough?" Henry walked in, "Not without me." "Hey!" They hugged. Anne said, "Henry!" Ian said, "Buddy!" They all hugged. Claire said, "Oh, the four of us, together again. Now it's a celebration." Blaine and June were having baby cakes together. June said, "What were you doing on stage?" "I like to see how many paces I have in every direction. That way, if I decide to freestyle, I won't fall on my ass in the crowd." "You know, success depends on three things - talent, hard work and luck. Whom should I seat Michael Bay next to?" "What about Kurt?" "Blaine, all the people come here because I'm the tastemaker, and my palate is undeniable when it comes to talent." "Kurt is amazing. He's incredible." Later, Blaine was by the piano. Kurt said, "Hey. I was gonna bring you lunch, but it looks like you already had dessert." "June doesn't want you in the showcase. I thought I could convince her. I didn't know what else to do. I didn't want to hurt your feelings." Meanwhile, a woman named Charlie Darling was looking for a new cover boy for Treasure Trails, and Sam was one of them. Rachel, Kurt and Brittany were talking to Mercedes while Artie and Blaine were gaming with Sam. Mary looked at Shelby with fascination. "So, Shelby, tell me. You used to be glee club coach and now you have your own Broadway daycare business. What's that like?" Shelby said, "To tell you the truth, I like it. I do. I mean, you don't always get everything you want in life, but I haven't settled for less." "And?" "And I married my best friend." "He looks like he could be a sea captain." Shelby chuckled. "Yeah, he does look good in a uniform and a hat. The only time I've ever seen him in that getup was about three years ago. We were doing some song mashups and he was wearing a cowboy hat." "Ooh, I bet that got your horses running." "Every girl at that school was totally into him. Including my own sister." "Ooh! Spicy. Give me the details." "I was pissed when I found out that those two dated. For about six weeks. And then she did something I never thought possible. She gave him up for me. Mostly she knew how he felt about me and she was in love with another great guy." "And where is he?" "He, uh…he died last year." "That's so sad." "Yeah." Artie said, "Rachel and Shelby are the two most ambitious females I've ever met. They won't stop until they get somewhere. Did you just put a donut in your bra?" Mary said, "Yeah." Blaine asked, "Are we gonna start?" "We're gonna have to change your name. Do you prefer Slain or Dane?" "I'm sorry, are you a real writer from an actual television network?" Brittany said, "Can I just say I really like your pajamas?" Mary said, "So, what do you do for a living?" Claire said, "I'm 18." "Do you smoke cigarettes?" "No, and I don't plan to." "What are your hobbies?" Anne Marie said, "I'm a gamer. Did you ever play The Last of Us? That game is pretty boss. It won like 200 game awards. I heard that the teenage girl is with the young rebel, but I found her to be very cool." Ian said, "Yeah, I'm just a teacher." Kurt said, "Rachel, that chick is insane." Rachel said, "I think Jack is the only one she hasn't spoken to yet. She really likes him, though." "All Jack's ever done these past few weeks is play video games, make dinner and your sister." Rachel looked at him. "Yeah, playing Deadpool's game was really fun." She giggled. "It was a little fun." "I don't find it very fun to watch a murk with a mouth go to the bathroom in a video game." "To be fair, he did put a black screen in front of his…lap." Brittany said, "That's a nice word for it." Kurt said, "Look, Rachel, I think it's sweet that you're doing this for Shelby, but if she wants to do that TV show, she's gonna have to burn a lot more bridges. She has to bet on her voice and trust her instincts." Rachel said, "You're right. I just hope I didn't force her." "You did a very good thing." Anne Marie said, "Well, looks like everything at McKinley is packed." Ian said, "Where are all our Treble Base trophies?" "Jermaine called. He said they were going to stay at the center, as a proud reminder of what we all did. Ian, I never could've gotten this far without you. We make a great team." "We always do." "Uh… So, now that we're no longer coaching glee club, what do you think we should do now?" "Why don't we travel? See the whole world together. I mean, everyone else is always going places. Claire could get into college, Mercedes is a recording artist now, Sam's a male model, and Artie's doing film school." "And Kurt and Blaine are gonna be performing together, and Rachel's still got Funny Girl. Shelby and Jack could go back to LA together, Henry…" "I love you." "I love you, too. You know, if you think about it, I'd say we made Finn Hudson proud." "And Will Schuster, Emma Pillsbury, Shannon Beiste, Figgins and - blah, blah, blah…" Anne giggled and they kissed.
Shelby walked in the door. Jack said, "Wow. You get more beautiful every time I see you." "Yeah? Well, you get more handsome every time I see you." "I'm really sorry that you didn't win." "It's okay. I won something even better." She held his hand. "I read the script." "How bad is it?" "Terrible." Shelby chuckled. "Yeah, it is pretty horrific, isn't it?" "Mary and those producers would be stupid not to accept you." "I'm not going anywhere without you." Jack pulled out a black box. "This is for you." "But I already said yes." He opened it and reveled a shiny new key. "What's this for?" "It's a new key for my apartment back in LA. I figured you should have one, too. And I can even make one for Rachel when she comes to visit. It doesn't matter to me where we are—New York, LA, Lima. Wherever we are, it's home. You're my heart, Shelby. You always have been. And if you win that lead, I'll always support you every step of the way." Shelby's eye shed a tear. "This is…this is too much. This is everything." She was wiping her eyes. "Ever since I met you, you've always said what I needed to hear to boost me up. But I also want what's best for you, Jack. Maybe we can find some way to make you my partner. I never want to be without you. I also want you to find and follow your dream." "Shelby, you are my dream." "And you're mine, too. My dream started coming true the minute you walked into that teacher's lounge." She kissed him. "I guess there's one thing left to do." "Ooh, are you gonna propose again?" "Will you let me ask the question first this time if I do?" He chuckled. She chuckled. They kissed again.
The next day, Blaine found Kurt sitting down looking at pigeons. Blaine said, "Kurt, you mean more to me than anything." Kurt asked, "What's it like to fly for the first time? I get why. You know,I was mad." "Then what do you mean with all that flying stuff?" "Trust is a choice. I choose to trust and love you through everything." "I love you. Either we fly together or we don't fly at all." "I'm happy for you. And now it's your turn to spread your wings." "Maybe it's all the bird talk, but I'm getting kinda turned on." "Let's go inside." Inside the other apartment, Henry said, "You know, we haven't really talked much since I got back. What are those?" Claire said, "College acceptance letters." "That's great." "I don't know which one to go to. What if they're all rejections?" "Then they're stupid and we'll figure something else out. In the meantime, I need to say this. Claire, I don't want to do long-distance. I miss you. Whenever we're together, I feel more at peace with you than anyone else. You're the only one I look forward to seeing every time I come back here." "Henry…being with you… I don't want to you leave. I want you to stay." They kissed. "Can we open one?" Claire opened all three envelopes. The first one was a reject. The second one was also a reject. The third… In the loft, she said, "I got into AMDA!" Rachel said, What?!" Kurt said, "Oh!" Anne Marie hugged her. "Oh, Claire!" They all hugged. Rachel said, "I always knew you could do it." Shelby said, "Good job, Claire." At the Dolloway Showcase, Blaine was singing with June and then Kurt. She seemed reluctant at first, but then she loved it. Mercedes said, "Where's Jack?" Shelby said, "I don't know. Maybe he had car trouble." Kurt was happy. Rachel said, "Um, Miss Dolloway. If I may…" June said, "Please." Rachel ran up to the stage. "Hi. As you all know, I'm Rachel Berry. Normally I would sing for you, but don't worry. This time, I'm not going to. I would like to introduce you all to my sister, Shelby Corcoran." Applause and cheers emerged. "What? No. Honey…" she walked on. "Rachel, what are you doing?" Rachel gave her the microphone and said, "You helped make my dream come true. Now I want yours to. Break a leg." Shelby said, "But…I… Everyone." Music started and Shelby started to sing, "As Long As You're Mine" from Wicked. Jack held another microphone and sang the duet with her. Shelby turned her head in surprise. Rachel was also surprised. June looked. Shelby smiled. They held hands. Mercedes smiled. Blaine smiled, too. Artie and Sam were also happy. When they finished, the audience clapped and cheered. Kurt was crying happy tears. Claire and Henry clapped, nodding with respect. Jack leaned forward to kiss Shelby, but she grabbed him and dipped him. "Whoa," he said and she kissed him. The cheering grew louder. Anne Marie and Ian clapped fast. June clapped as well. Shelby brought him back up again and they hugged. Then she looked at Rachel and mouthed, "Thank you." Rachel shrugged happily. June said, "You two certainly have a lot of spunk. I loved every minute of it." Shelby and Jack held hands and took a bow. They walked outside and hugged again. "Looks like we can scratch that off our bucket list." He picked up and carried her. "Whoop. Heh." "The perfect night, the perfect girl." "Is it okay if I'm the girl?" They kissed. Rachel said, "Guys, go back out there. They love you. You guys seriously need to get a room." Shelby and Jack chuckled.
The next day, Rachel read, "The thing about love is that the more you have, the more you give." They clapped. "Do you guys like it?" Artie said, "I cried." "Well, Mary said she's gonna send it in, so we should be hearing from her soon. Fanny is my dream role, you guys, and this, this could be Shelby's." Mercedes said, "Rachel, that was really great what you did for your sister." "Well, she's my family. And so are all of you. Including Jack." Kurt said, "A toast to two great years in one of the greatest cities in the world." Rachel said, "Cheers." Sam looked outside and said, "Holy crap." He ran. Outside, everyone was gathered around. They saw Sam on a bus. Mercedes said, "Sam, I am so proud of you." Sam said, "Guys, I did it!" Rachel said, "What are you gonna do now?" "I think I'm gonna go back home." Blaine said, "It's the end of another era for us Gleeks." Rachel said, "It's been quite a year, you guys. Finn and the New Directions. Treble Base won Nationals. I'm a Broadway star. My sister could be a new TV star. Kurt and Blaine, a dynamic duo. Mercedes, the next Jennifer Hudson." Mercedes smiled at that. Rachel went on, "Claire is a high school graduate and a natural born leader. But you do realize this will be the first time we will all scatter in five years." Kurt said, "Well, I think if we can get through that, our friendship can survive anything." Artie said, "Kurt's right. I'm in this with you guys for the long haul." Rachel said, "We're all gonna need something else to look forward to. If I have learned anything this year, it's that you all are my life. Claire, congratulations. You really came through for us this year. We couldn't be happier or prouder. I think we're all gonna miss you the most." Claire said, "Ah, well, you're not gonna miss me that much. Just wait, now that I'm in the same age range as all of you, you'll all be tired of me in no time. We're not just teammates or friends. We're a family." Henry said, "And we always will be, no matter where we end up." Shelby said, "So this isn't goodbye." Anne Marie said, "I'd like to think of it as until we meet again." Blaine said, "Aw." Artie said, "Well said, Anne." Kurt said, "That's better. I like that better." Ian said, "Come on, everybody, group hug." They all hug. Shelby kissed Rachel's head. Kurt said, "Guys, I would kill to break out in song right now." Everyone, including Treble Base, performed "High School Musical" from, yes, the third movie. Rachel's phone buzzed. "Hello? Yes? Okay, yeah. Thank you very much, thank you. That was the network. They loved the script." Shelby said, "So, wait, does that mean…?" "You're going to LA!" They screamed happily and hugged. Jack said, "So, if Rachel's the greatest star, and you're the next best thing, what does that make me?" Shelby kissed him and said, "My knight in shining armor." They kissed again. Rachel giggled. Shelby and Jack were about to leave for LA outside. Rachel hugged Shelby tight and then hugged Jack. He kissed her cheek. Rachel and Shelby hugged again. Rachel said, "I love you two so much." Shelby said, "We love you, too." Claire and Anne Marie hugged. Henry and Ian hugged. Then Claire hugged Ian while Henry hugged Anne. Mercedes hugged Sam. Artie rolled away. Kurt and Blaine packed. Rachel walked and smiled. Claire said, "TTFN, ta-ta for now."
