"WHAT?!" Daisuke shot up and began scrambling to get out which caused him to get tangled up in his bedsheets and falling to the floor with a thud. As he lifted his head the alarm clock fell in front of him showing the time 7:30 am he still had 30 minutes before school even opened, shaking his head as he picked up the clock and put it back on his desk next to his bed before looking at the calendar and saw it was the first day back to school and glared over to Jun who pulled out her phone and turned the screen to him pressing play on a video.

"Don't you think you should put the game down and get some sleep? The first of school is tomorrow." "It's fine just wake me up early".

The two just started at each in silence before Daisuke flipped her off "Love you too lil bro. Now hurry up and get dressed or I'll eat your breakfast" Jun walked back out the room and down the hall. Daisuke fell back onto his bed he let out a tired groan before getting off the bed and started heading towards before he stopped. He headed back to his desk near his bed and grabbed what looked like a digital pocket watch attached to a string and put it on his neck.

"Can't forget my lucky charm now can I" he said with a smile as he gave it a small flick.

"DAISUKE WOULD YOU HURRY UP YOU THE CLOCKS TICKING, IF YOU'RE LATE ON THE FIRST DAY MOM'S GONNA KILL YA" Jun yelled from the hallway which sent a shiver down his bones. While his mom can be one of the sweetest people you could meet he's always felt that some secret horror lied behind her smile, so ran out his room and headed to the bathroom.

After getting dressed, he realized he was running short on time. Quickly eating his breakfast and grabbing his lunch, he made a mad dash to school. Though not far from the school, just a few blocks down the street, he didn't want to tempt fate today. Arriving at school, he immediately found a spot under one of the trees in the schoolyard. Out of breath from his run and feeling the heat of the day, he closed his eyes, hoping to catch a quick nap before class started.

About five minutes later, he felt something cold placed on his head, prompting him to open his eyes. Standing over him was someone with two water bottles, one of which was on his head.

"You know you really shouldn't play video games the night before the first day of school." While he couldn't quite see the person's face due to the sun, he recognized the voice—it was Hikari Yagami. "Thanks for the advice, Yagami Sensei," he replied, taking the water bottle and scooting over to make room for her to sit down.

For a while, they sat quietly, observing others arriving with friends or locking up their bikes. A group of kids started a soccer game nearby, in the midst of deciding teams.

"So, how'd you sleep last night?" Hikari asked, engrossed in a book she had brought along.

"Pretty good, even with Jun's snoring the whole night," he chuckled, keeping his eyes on the soccer game.

"Really, you know I don't mind if you wanna talk about it." He kept silent. While he wasn't a bad liar, he knew better than to try and deceive her. No matter what, she always seemed to know when he was lying or when something was wrong with him, sometimes even better than he did himself.

"Daisuke, I'm serious. If you—"

"LOOK OUT!" She turned her head to see a soccer ball heading right towards her, but just before it hit, Daisuke caught the ball and tossed it over to the kid who was coming to get it. "Thanks, Oh Daisuke it's you. Hey you wanna join us we're in the need of one more player."

"Sure, I'm down. I'll talk to you later, Hikari," he said as he got up from the ground and ran over to the field. Hikari sighed as she watched him go, then put her book away in her backpack and made her way into the school. As she approached the entrance, she turned back to the field and saw Daisuke score a goal for his team. While she was worried about him after the phone call she got from Jun earlier, she also knew that trying to pry wouldn't do any good. She knew that better than anyone.

But as she continued watching she saw a smile on his face which soothe her worries a little and with that she turned and went inside.

"WE GOT 10 MINUTES LEFT, YOU GUYS!" said one of the boys Daisuke was playing with. Right now, the score was tied, and one of the boys on Daisuke's team was in the middle of a free kick. At the shout, he kicked the ball a bit harder than he meant to and sent it flying towards the gate.

"I got it," Daisuke said as he jumped after the ball, but he miscalculated, causing the ball to bounce off his hand and sending him falling to the ground. As he fell, he saw a kid in a yellow and teal shirt jump up to catch it before it went beyond the gate. Getting up, he dusted himself off before heading over to the boy. "Hey, sorry about th—" As he got a closer look at the boy, he froze. This boy seemed familiar, but from where? Before he could think any further the boy passed the ball back to him.

"Those goggles are pretty cool," he said, pointing towards his goggles. That threw Daisuke for a loop, but once again, before he could think any further, one of the kids he was playing with called him over to finish the game.

"I'm coming," he said as he dropped the ball to the ground and kicked it, rejoining the game.

As Daisuke sat in class listening to the teacher talk about their schedule for this year, his mind wandered to the boy he met earlier. Something in his gut told him he knew the boy, but as far as he knew, that was their first meeting.

"And before I forget, there'll be a new student joining us this semester. You can come in now," their teacher said, and as the door slid open, Daisuke saw it was the same boy from this morning. "Everyone, please welcome Takaishi Takeru."

"I'm Takaishi Takeru. Nice to meet you all. I just moved into town; I hope we all get along," he said, giving a bow.

"You can take the open seat next to Yagami," their teacher said. As he walked over, Daisuke's eyes followed him.

As he sat down, he turned to Hikari. "It's been a while."

"You sure grew," Hikari said, and then both turned forward as the teacher began to start class. Meanwhile, Daisuke was a bit stunned to hear that the two knew each other.

'Wait a minute, didn't he say he just moved into town? It sounds like they already know each other, but since when—' He was brought out of his thoughts when he heard the teacher clear his throat. Snapping forward, he gave a sigh of relief when he saw that the teacher's eyes were on a pair of students in front of him. 'Focus up, Daisuke, you can ask Hikari about it later,' and with that, he opened his journal and began taking notes.

"Hurry, we're almost there," Taichi said as he and Daisuke turned another corner, where they saw the exit. Not slowing down, they kept running until they felt the castle shake from the ongoing battle.

"Gaia Force!"

"Grace Cross Freezer!"

"Soul Banish!"

"Heaven's Charm!"

"Flower Whip!"

"Plasma Wing!"

Turning back from where they came, Daisuke had a worried look on his face and his fists were clenched. Here he was, running away while everyone else was fighting. It just didn't feel right, especially when his partner was also back there. He was about to turn and run back when he felt Taichi put a hand on his shoulder.

"Look, I understand you wanna go back and help, but right now we're on enemy home turf. Once we meet up with the others, we can give that circus clown reject a beating he'll never forget," Taichi said. Daisuke nodded, understanding that right now wasn't the time to be rash. As they began to make their way to the exit, the castle shook again as the wall on the left was broken. Angewomon was sent flying through it by Piedmon and fell to the ground, where rubble trapped her leg.

"I've had enough of you and your little healing trick," Piedmon said as he brought his hand up, causing swords to appear which began to spin rapidly.

"Trump Sword Requiem!"

Angewomon closed her eyes to brace for the attack, but it never landed. As she opened her eyes, she saw the pained expression of Wingdramon close to her face and realized what had happened. He had used his body to block the attack and looked over to her.

"You alright, Angewomon?" he asked as he used his tail to knock the rubble off her leg.

"A little shaken, but I'll be fine," Angewomon responded. She looked to see that WarGreymon, MetalGarurumon, MagnaAngemon, and Lilymon were distracting Piedmon. She then turned towards Taichi and Daisuke while pointing towards the castle door. "Yamato and the others are just outside. Hurry and meet up with them."

Taichi nodded and began to make his way. Daisuke was about to follow until he saw the state of his partner. The dragon looked to be in critical condition after that last attack.

"Don't worry, Daisuke. I'll be right behind you," Wingdramon said with a grin and a thumbs up, trying to cheer him up. This seemed to work as Daisuke then started sprinting to meet up with Taichi.

Just then, before either knew what happened, Piedmon grabbed Wingdramon by his neck and threw him into the air right in the way of Lilymon's attack. He was then enveloped in a sphere of data, and as it dissipated, a small blue figure took its place and began to fall to the ground. As Daisuke saw this, he turned back and ran for his partner, screaming his name.

"VEEMON!" Daisuke shouted as his head shot up, only to meet the glare of his teacher.

"I hope you enjoyed your sleep, Mr. Motomiya," their teacher said, arms crossed.

"Sorry, Sensei, I just didn't get enough sleep last night," Daisuke said as he rubbed his head.

"Well, since it's the first day, I'll let it slide, but don't let it happen again," the teacher said as he went back to the lesson. Other students in the class quietly began to snicker, causing Daisuke to cover his head. Meanwhile, Hikari and Takeru looked at him with worry.

"That was embarrassing, falling asleep in class on the first day." Daisuke groaned, placing his hands over his face as he walked to the entrance of the school. He had just come from signing up for the soccer and basketball teams. As he was walking, his mind began to wander to the dreams he'd been having lately. These weren't the first; he'd been having dreams like them for about a month now, but never one that extreme. He could still feel the adrenaline and the dread from watching the small blue creature fall.

'Man, this is seriously starting to give me a headache,' he thought to himself. As he rounded the corner, he paused as he saw Hikari talking to the new kid. 'I wonder how Hikari and he know each other? Maybe it'd be better to ask instead of staring like a weirdo.' With that thought, he began to make his way over to the two.

"Hey, Hikari and uh—" Daisuke froze as he realized he had already forgotten the new kid's name.

"Takeru. It's good that you're doing well, Daisuke, right?" Takeru said with a smile.

"Yeah, sorry about that. I was sure I was gonna be able to catch the ball. Wait, how'd you know my name?" Daisuke asked, puzzled. He didn't remember telling Takeru his name. This caused Takeru to freeze.

"That's because I told him" Hikari quickly said, causing attention to turn to her "So like was saying Takeru this is Daisuke, Daisuke this is my old friend Takeru, he and his mom just moved back into town".

"Well if your a friend of Hikari's then your a friend of mine. Welcome back to Odaiba Middle School," Daisuke said as he put his hand out, which Takeru accepted shaking his hand "And hey if your into sports we got a basketball team, you've got one heck of a jump.".

"Hey are you Yagami?"

Turning towards the hallway they saw girl with lavender hair and glasses walking towards them. Hikari nodded and was handed a paper from her.

"Miyako how you doing?" Takeru asked having recognized her from this morning when he left for school.

"I'm doing good, it was the first day so not much happened how about you?" Miyako asked. Before Takeru could respond Hikari let out a gasp which caused everyone to turn towards her.

"Hikari you okay?" Daisuke asked worried.

"It's Taichi he's in trouble" Hikari said and then began to run into the hallway where after a few seconds everyone followed her lead.

Arriving a the computer room the group saw a girl with red hair fiercely typing away at one of the computers.

"Kushina, did you also get my brother's email?" Hikari asked as she recognized the girl, this did cause Kushina to pause for a second to see that Hikari and Takeru were at the door along with Daisuke and Yolei.

"Yeah I ran here as soon as I got the message and the first thing I see when I turn on the computer is a gateway to the Digital up and running" Kushina said as she went back to typing "Luckily this seems to be the only computer otherwise we'd have a serious problem on out hands"

"What are you guys talking about? What's the Digital World is that some kind of amusement park?" Miyako asked her curiosity peaked.

"I think I've heard of it before, Jun would sometimes talk about it in her sleep and I asked her about it she said it was just some computer game" Daisuke said though he never really believed her. Before the conversation could continue a boy appeared a the entrance.

"Miyako are you still going to help fix our computer?" He asked.

"Oh sorry Iori I almost forgot. Let's hurry I don't want your mom's onigiri to get cold. Hey do you know anything about the Digital World?" She asked as the two of them left walking down the hall.

"Alright then let's get a move on then Taichi needs help so let's not keep him waiting" Daisuke said slam a fist into his palm. Though he was a bit confused when the others looked at him with worry in their eyes. "What's with the look?"

"You can't come with us Daisuke" Hikari said not looking at him

"What, why not?" He asked confused, though Hikari didn't respond "What do you mean I come with you guys Taichi needs help so why not bring as mush help as possible?"

"Because you'd need one of these" Takeru said as he pulled out his digivice followed then Hikari and Kushina, when Daisuke saw it them was shocked to see that it looked almost like his lucky charm expect instead of being black they were yellow, pink, and, purple.

Pulling out his he showed it to the group "I got one of those things too so that means I can go too right?" Daisuke said gripping it tightly. Hikari grimaced she knew it was in his nature to help others even if he didn't know the risk but this one would be too risky.

"Daisuke yours won't work since it doesn't..." Kushina stated and then paused "It would be better if you were to sit th—" she was interrupted as a ringing came front eh computer before three lights came through, two of them headed out the door while the third shot straight towards Daisuke who put his hands in front of him to block it.

The light collided with his digivice and began to shine so bright everyone closed their eyes, Daisuke could of sworn it was staring to burn his hand. When the light died down everyone was surprised to see that his digivice had changed. No longer was it a circular but now it was now a rectangular shape with rounded edges and instead of being black it was now a dark azure blue with small hints of gray.

"Well how about will this one let me go" Daisuke said almost desperately and almost as if to answer his question the computer beeped.

"The Digital Portal is open?" Kushina said surprised just a minute ago it was still closed

Takeru remained silent after having just witnessed what happened, meanwhile Hikari was having a debated with herself. She knew what those light meant, it meant that new DigiDestined had just been chosen and Daisuke was one of them, but the same time she didn't want him to go to the Digital World not after what him the last time.

Looking up Hikari saw the look in his eyes, a fire to help others and made a choice. "Fine you can come," She said which caused Daisuke to smile "But you have to stick close to use got it".

"No problem" Daisuke said with a smile

"Okay me sand Takeru will go in first and you come afterwards" Hikari said as she lifted up her digivice where a light enveloped her and she disappeared into the computer with Takeru doing the same. Daisuke was a stunned at what he just saw but quickly gathered him self and followed their lead.

"Well better get in there myself" Kushina said as she was about to follow them until the computer room door shot opened before she quickly hid her digivice.

"What was that light?!" Miyako said as she entered the room.

As he flew through the portal, Daisuke was amazed at what he saw. It was like he was in a huge tunnel, and everywhere he looked, he could see a series of ones and zeroes. When he looked back from where he came, he saw a small screen showing Kushina being confronted by Miyako and Iori, both holding Digivices.

"Daisuke!"

Turning around, he saw Hikari waving to him by a screen that seemed to lead to a forest. He focused himself and headed towards it, where it began to glow.

When he emerged from the TV, Daisuke realized he was no longer weightless and fell face-first onto the ground.

"Well, that was fun while it lasted," Daisuke said with a bit of pain as he started to get up, wiping the grass off himself. Looking up, he saw Takeru with his hand out, which he grabbed.

"Hey, it's better than falling out of the sky," Takeru said as he pulled Daisuke up, who gave him a bewildered look.

"We'll talk about it later. Right now, we need to find Taichi. From the looks of it, he's over this way," Hikari said, looking at her Digivice, which displayed a map with four dots. One of the dots was a bit farther from them. "He doesn't seem to be far, but the sooner we find him, the better." With that, the three began making their way to find Taichi.

Unknown to them, a camera had been watching them ever since they entered the Digital World.

In a dark room sat a girl in a royal purple general military outfit adorned with a capelet and wearing a violet ball mask. Surrounding her were floating screens—some with text, others with codes, and some, like the one she was currently focused on, were live video feeds of the Digital World. She sat watching the three with her Dark Ring stealthily following behind.

To the Digital World, she was a ruthless tyrant, but she preferred to be called the Digimon Kaiser.

"So you've finally made it, huh? It's rude to keep a lady waiting. I think you deserve a punishment. Impmon," she said.

A purple imp wearing a red hood, with a scarf covering her mouth and a pair of red gloves, stepped out of the shadows.

"Yes, Kei-chan," the Impmon said, giving a small bow.

"Release a Monochromon from the 3rd level," the Digimon Kaiser ordered. Impmon began typing away at one of the screens. After a few seconds, she was about to hit the release button when the Kaiser spoke again.

"Actually, send a Coredramon from the 3rd level as well."

Impmon hesitated. "Are... are you sure?" she asked with a bit of worry. She could understand sending one, but sending two seemed a bit much. Their opponents were already at a massive disadvantage, and this just seemed unnecessarily harsh.

"It'll be fine, Impmon. We're just running a bit of a... test, let's say. If things get risky, we'll just shock them. How's that?" The Digimon Kaiser smiled—a smile that truthfully unnerved Impmon. With a bit of hesitation, Impmon began typing again, ensuring the shocking function would only stun, not harm. Shocking them too hard seemed excessive. She pressed the release button, sending the two Digimon off in the direction of the newcomers.

"Now then, make sure you give me a good show, DigiDestined," the blue-haired girl said as she watched the three meet up with Taichi.

'I get how Hikari and Takeru were able to come to the Digital World, but how was Daisuke able to get here?' Taichi thought to himself as Gatomon finished telling the story of how her Holy Ring got broken by an attack from an Impmon she ran into.

"And I'm sure those Dark Rings are how the Digimon Kaiser has been able to brainwash all those Digimon," Gatomon said, which caused Taichi to snap out of his thoughts. This was news to him, but then again, he hadn't really thought about why he was in the Digital World. All he knew was that his partner needed his help, and he ran into the first Digital Portal he saw.

"So you're saying there's another human in the Digital World besides us?" Takeru asked, surprised. Another person was in the Digital World—a world that, for the last five years, had been separated from the Real World by a barrier. It all made him wonder: how did the barrier come down, and for how long has it been down? He'd ask Kushina about it later.

"That's right, and the Kaiser's able to do it all thanks to a Digivice different from Hikari's and everyone else's," Gatomon said, causing Hikari and Takeru to look at each other before turning their heads to Daisuke, who was confused at first before realizing what they wanted him to do.

"Did it look like this?" Daisuke asked as he pulled out his Digivice.

"Yeah, just like that one, except theirs was black and grey," Gatomon said before giving him a questioning look. "Where'd you get that from, anyway?"

"I got it when a light came out of the computer and into my old one," Daisuke said, which caused Taichi's eyes to widen.

'So that's what those lights were—they were Digivices. But then that means...' Taichi paused as he looked over to Daisuke with worry. 'That new Chosen Children have been selected. Just what kind of threat is this Digimon Kaiser?'

"And I bet they're using that Digivice to keep us from digivolving somehow," Gatomon said, drawing everyone's attention back to her.

"What do you mean?" Hikari asked, confused.

"Ever since the Digimon Kaiser came, we haven't been able to digivolve. It's like some dark force is blocking us from being able to." Gatomon said, frustrated. "I felt it when they first came, and with my Holy Ring broken, I can feel it even more. I'm certain that's what it is."

"Hey, what's this thing over here?" Daisuke asked, crouching over the DigiEgg sitting on top of the small hill, which caused everyone to look over in his direction.

"That's where the three lights came from. Agumon and I tried to move it, but I swear, after I touched it, it felt like it drained a bit of my energy," Taichi said, with Agumon nodding alongside him.

"We probably shouldn't touch it for now, then. It might be best to ask Gennai about it. The last thing we need is to be any weaker than we are now," Takeru said before turning to the Digimon, who all glared at him. "No offense, guys," he laughed nervously.

"Daisuke."

Ever since he stepped into the Digital World, Daisuke swore he kept hearing someone calling out to him, and since he stepped into the cave, he felt it even more. It looked like he had now found the source, though there was one weird part about it.

"Daisuke."

The voice sounded familiar. Daisuke began to reach for the DigiEgg, and once he had his hands on both sides, he lifted it. A pillar of red light burst upwards into the sky, causing him to fall onto his back.

"Daisuke, are you okay?" Hikari asked as she helped him sit up, checking him over.

"Yeah, I'm fine, just a bit shaken... what in the world?" Daisuke said as he looked at the pillar where a shadow began to take form. As the light began to die down, they were able to see what it was.

A small blue dragon with yellow marks on his cheeks and a V marking on his head. On his right arm was a mark that looked like a black band that went halfway up his arm, and on his shoulder was a yellow scarf. Jumping out of the light, he landed in front of Daisuke.

"Hi, the name's—" the blue dragon started to speak.

"Veemon," Daisuke said, his eyes wide as a small tear fell from his eye.
