The white seagull's cries pull her from her wonderful but also painful memories. Suddenly, she notices the lady of Lothórien next to her, her gaze set onto the birds as well.
"They are calling us home" she explains almost lost in thought "For us Elves the Undying lands is our home. But for you?" Lhindril can't help but throwing a look over her shoulder to Fíli and Kíli and the view is almost heartbreaking. They are sitting on the ground, a bit further form the dock than before and the younger one is supporting his brother, almost unable to hold himself either though. Her thoughts start wheeling. She couldn't do that to them! Not if it wasn't even what she didn't fully want. The last thing she wants is for her husband to be sad for the rest of his life. Of course Galadriel had already noticed her look. "If you come with us you will never see them again" she voices Lhindril's biggest fear. Then she places her hand on her shoulder, telling her something through thoughts that lets her heart make a jump. And in that moment she just knows what to do.
"Thank you!" she thanks the Elf, going to Elrond instead "I'm sorry but I cannot come with you. I can't just leave my family"
"You do not need to justify your decision" he says before hugging her. Next she turns to Frodo
"It was a pleasure to get to know you and I thank you again for helping save Middle Earth" they nod at each other and the Hobbit wishes her well before she turns to Bilbo. When she has first see him arriving she had almost been shocked about how old he looked; as if he had aged by decades. "Oh Bilbo…. I don't even know what to say. Thank you that you insisted I enter your house as well. I don't know where I would be today if you hadn't. From the bottom of my heart I wish you well. And I even got you something" carefully, she pulls the wrapped up Arkenstone from her purse "Your share of the treasure, as you said yourself. Maybe if you somehow meet Thorin one day you can give it to him, if you want. I'm sure he'd appreciate it." She gives him a gentle hug, afraid to hurt him. Then she addresses Celeborn, just wishing him well and then turning to Gandalf. She offers him his hand, thanking him that almost seventy years ago he had allowed her to come to the quest to Erebor. After that, she runs off the ship with a happy smile, past the three Hobbits who are looking at her in confusion and off to the Dwarves. From afar she can hear how Fíli is crying and Kíli who isn't doing much better tries to soothe him. Without saying a word, she places her hand on each of their backs and once he looks up, Fíli almost throws himself at her.
"What are you doing here? You're supposed to be on the ship" he protests, not able to hide his smile.
"I can't. And you couldn't let me go either. Don't be angry with me but I gave the Arkenstone to someone who might appreciate it more than I do"
"To be honest… I am beyond relieved that you're not leaving" her husband admits and Kíli instantly agrees.
"I feel the same. And after all… what should we have done without you two?" her husband tilts his head
"We?" he asks in surprise that he almost forgets crying for a moment
"Yes, we" she says with a happy smile, placing Fíli's and Kíli's hand on her stomach "Galadriel looked into the future and told…" she gets interrupted by a passionate but loving kiss.
"We're having a child! You'll stay with me and I'll become a father. I don't know what to say"
"And I'm going to be an uncle" Kíli cheers at the same time. Again, Fíli kisses her softly.
"I promise to always protect you. Both of you"
"Do you understand now why I couldn't go to Valinor? I love you so much, both of you. All three of you, I mean. And I need all of you" with these words she pulls the two Dwarves into another hearty embrace.
