Hi Tonks,
What's it like to finally be done with school? Pretty cool, huh? Except for the, you know, whole waiting for NEWT results thing. Which I'm sure will be fine! You'll do great! You just have to wait for them. Enjoy your summer and don't think about them!
I'm doing great by the way! Seriously! I'm well rested and everything! Finally got used to the roars and snorts of the dragons in the middle of the night. I don't even hear them anymore! Just took me what, nearly two years? That might also have something to do with the fact that I don't get all the night shifts anymore, we got a new batch of apprentices which is great fun. Now I get to mess with someone. It's all in good fun.
Enjoy your summer!
Charlie
Hi, Charlie,
Don't even talk to me about NEWTs, I don't want to think about them at all. They were horrid. Okay, Transfiguration was actually okay but I understand Transfiguration. It makes sense. Potions wasn't actually that bad, I guess that's what it's like when you take Snape out of the equation. Charms, don't talk to me about Charms. My head was all woolly. Herbology confused me. Wait, I didn't want to think about them! Look what you made me do! Argh, shut up!
Let's talk about something else. Anything else. The weather! Let's be boring adults and talk about the weather! It's warm over here. Really warm. Sunny too, if you can believe it?
Tonks
Hi, Tonks,
You'll do fine. You know you will. You will, you will, you will. Okay, I hear you, no more talking about exams. And we'll never be boring adults! Never!
But the weather over here is nice enough, I suppose. Got a massive downpour two days ago, a couple of fields got flooded. Some very grumpy dragons, it almost made me glad that I'm not allowed to do any transfers between fields yet. This one guy, Brooks, got scorched when he was doing it. No hair on the left side of his head at all. Not even the eyebrow or eyelashes. His eye is okay though, weirdly enough. We're not sure how he managed that but definitely not something to complain about.
Did you know that burns could sometime produce pus? Kind of gross but cool. I wasn't allowed to touch it though. I'm in training to become a Dragon Handler, not a Medi Wizard I kept being told. And then I had to go and shovel dung like some sort of newbie. It wasn't fair.
Charlie
Hi Charlie,
Can't believe I forgot to tell you on my last letter but can you believe that mum made me practice my apparition? Without a license! Seriously! My mum! I couldn't believe it but it did help. Mum says I should have no problems with my test and then I will be able to apparate wherever I want! Well, wherever I can is probably a better way of putting it. It's not like I have the ability to apparate to Japan or somewhere like that! Which is a pity because Japan sounds pretty cool. If you could go anywhere in the world, anywhere at all, floo costs, portkey restrictions, apparition abilities, none of that matters, where would you go?
And ew, I didn't need to know about the burns and pus. That is disgusting. Why would you even want to touch that? You're really gross, you know that, right?
Anyway, here, I have to go because I have another apartment viewing thing going on this evening. Hopefully this one doesn't have pieces of floor missing. They never tell you that in the ad, funny that.
Tonks
Hi Tonks,
Well, how was the flat hunt? I didn't realise it would be so hard to find a flat. Thank Merlin that we all just live in huts and tents around the enclosures. Sure, they aren't that comfortable sometimes but still, I didn't have to think about accommodation. Merlin, imagine me trying to do that in Romania? I'm only just starting to get sort of fluent now. There was no way I could have sorted out a flat at first.
And your mum actually let you apparate without a license? To practice? Seriously? Your mum? I don't believe it, you having me on.
And, oh, if I could apparate wherever I wanted to it would be Tibet. They have these massive, massive enclosures of Chinese Fireballs that they know so well that they can actually ride them. How cool would that be? Even of I wouldn't be allowed to ride them (it's like a decade of training) even being there would be so cool. Oh, now I want to go see Fireballs! I wonder if I can do something like an exchange program...
Charlie
Hi Charlie,
On the flat nonsense, apparently loads of the flats with leases for September were snapped up back in May or June! How unfair is that? I couldn't help it that I was in school! And studying for exams too.
It sucks that the Auror Academy no longer houses the Trainees. That's what they used to apparently, before the war anyway. During the war they just wanted to shove Trainees through training as fast as possible to get bodies on the ground that they basically lived in the training rooms if what my mum says is true. Which is a bonkers thought. I wonder how many Aurors there are that never got the full, formal training? So weird.
But yeah, mum let me practice apparating and did okay! My test should be fine and I'll get licenced! It'll be something done, anyway. Why do I feel like there's so much to do between now and the end of summer? There's so much to do! And I wanted to relax this summer, the last one I'll have the full two months off! Gah, but there's so much to do! Oh, j doesn't even want to think about it. Tell me something fun that's been happening to you, I need some cheering up.

"Is that another one of Charlie's letters?" Gonks asked hopefully.
It was always fun hearing about his adventures. He bad far more exciting things happen to him than she did.
"Should we be concerned that his letters are coming with an increasing number of scorched areas on them?" Andromeda asked, holding a scroll between two fingers.
A scroll the had a brown patch right in the middle.
"He's not close enough for any flames to get to him," Tonks explained, taking the letter. "Or else It would get all burnt up."
"Yeah, Annie," Ted said with a straight face. "Just lightly scorched instead. Barbequed, if you will."
Andromeda sent him a sharp look.
"That's not funny, Ted. Tell him to be careful, won't you, Nymphadora?"
"This is Charlie, we're talking about. I'm pretty sure he doesn't know the meaning of the word."
"That doesn't help."
"He'll be fine," Tonks said reassuringly. "He's always fine. Look, it's a good, long letter-" she gave a cough and began to read it out loud, "Hi, Tonks, I'm writing this from the medical cabin-"
Okay, maybe that wasn't the best letter to share...
