"You're safe."

It takes days for those words to sink in.

She's gone. Thoughts of run get her to the school, get her to the only adult she trusts.

And Snape reacts.

Words, moments, nothing sticks until she is suddenly hugged by her two snakes.

"You're safe," Theo whispers as if reassuring himself. She nods as if she believes him, as if she hears him.

But days later she sees Harry with Krum's dead body.

"Wrong," says her mind.

"He's back," says Harry.

And the words finally register.

"You're safe."

"No. I'm not."
