Chapter 2
Around season 5
At the precint.
Olivia on the phone, "Hey! I saw your text. I am on the way to pick you up and we won't be late for our lunch plans."
"Liv I'm at my apartment, can you come by"; says Elle.
"What? I told you I was picking you up from the airport and-" says Olivia before she was cut off by the phone hanging up. "Rude."
Ten minutes later….
Olivia enters the apartment, calling out for her. "Elle! What's going?".
"In here." Says Elle.
As she walks into the lounge, she sees Everlyn wrapped in a blanket completely zoned out and Elle standing up to walk towards Olivia.
"We need help. She didn't want me to call the police or go to the hospital, so I called you." Said Elle shrugging her shoulders as she points to Olivia.
"I am the police, Elle"; Olivia looking back at the woman on the couch.
"Yeah but you are my sister first. And I think Everlyn was assaulted yesterday at the museum fundraiser. She didn't say anything on the phone but just asked me to rush over and I found her like this." Says Elle with panic in her voice.
Olivia lean down and sits next to the woman, she is scanning with her eyes. Looking at the bruises on her neck, wrists and torn lip with the bruised cheek. Olivia signals for Elle to go to the kitchen and give them room. "Can you tell me what happened?". says Olivia in a soft tone.
The woman just look up but says nothing. Olivia suggest they go to the hospital as they may still be evidence on her and it will really be helpful in finding the person that did this to her. Olivia looks at the blanket and calls out to Elle.
"You know better, why did you wrap her with the blanket. This could contaminate any evidence on her." says Olivia facing the kitchen to look at Elle.
"That's not mine, I found her in it sitting like that." Says Elle feeling a bit offended.
Everlyn stood up and turn to face Olivia, with a little nod of confirmation. They went to the hospital and Olivia took Her statement. Before finishing Olivia closed her little notebook and sat on the bed next to Everlyn. "Do you know who did this to you?"
Everlyn's eyes filled with ears and looked through the window in the direction of Elle pacing in a small circle with panic and anxiety. "Yes" she says as she swallow with difficulty.
Olivia looks at her sister's direction too;" Is it someone Elle knows?"
Everlyn looks back at Olivia and nods her head. "Elle had me work closely with him, since she couldn't leave the research she was doing in London. He was so nice and playful I didn't realize what was happening till it was too late and realized he was serious. I told him to stop and somehow he got even more angry. After he slapped me, I froze and didn't fight back anymore. He kept asking me to fight back so he can finish."
"Who is he?" Olivia holding Everlyn's hand.
"Bruce, Bruce Chartman." Olivia could feel her heart drop to her stomach. Everlyn agreed to open a case. Elle took Everlyn home that night,
Back at the precint, Bruce was opening a case of assault against Everlyn. Munch and Elliot were taking his statement.
A month later all the evidence were against Bruce and a court date was given. Later that night, Olivia and Elle were having drinks at the bar.
"I had to hand over the case to Fin, and he did good." Says Olivia before taking a sip of her beer.
"I can't believe Bruce would do something like this, like we grew up together. We had sleepovers and you babysat him. His like a brother to me. I don't think I'll be able to forgive him for what he did to Everlyn". Says Elle looking at the bottom of her drink through the top of the bottle.
The two sisters sit in silence and finish their drinks, till Olivia paid for the tap and nudged her sister to leave and call it a night.
The next morning Elle was woken up by a knock at the door, and Olivia was already gone to work. "Okay I heard you once." Elle as she stumbles her way to the door with her eyes barely open.
As she open the door a guy holding an envelope was standing there. "Are you Michelle Benson?".
"Yes" confused Elle.
"This is for you, you have been served. " says the guy as he handover the envelope and turning to leaving.
Elle walked into the precint with anger, slamming the envelope in front of Fin very angry. "what the hell Fin, why am I being called to testify against Everlyn. Won't you guys suppose to ensure that I should be a witness for the prosecutor not the defendant. Who is your ADA?"
"Hey what's going? Elle come down" says Olivia standing up from her table to stand between Fin and her sister. "You should know better that its not up to us, we give the DA office a case they prosecute. Once it goes to court its out of our hands."
Just as they were arguing, Fin motions his argument towards the direction of the elevator; "Speak of the devil, the ADA is here to answer your questions."
Everyone turned towards the ADA. "Can someone tell me who is-" she notices everyone is staring at her "Did I miss something" she says as she looks around the room for an answer.
Fin just grabs his jacket and walks out, followed by Munch. Olivia turns to Elle and points the elevator for her to leave. Instead Elle reaches out her hand to the ADA to introduce herself.
"Elle"; with a smirk.
"Casey Novak, ADA"; with a confused face and awkwardness.
Olivia started pushing her sister towards the elevator and Elliot chuckles.
"Your voice" says Elle while stumbling to the elevator. "Why you gotta embarrass me and I didn't even get her number."
"You are not sleeping with Casey. Go home and check on Everlyn."; Olivia sounding annoyed.
"Everlyn is at her parents house and I did check on her. She is going to be pissed when she hears about this."she says as the elevator doors close.
