Staring up at the dark ceiling, Lucy took a slow, shuddering breath as the conversation she had had in the shop with Tim about Chris's plans that they get an apartment together replayed in her mind.

"Do you love him?" Tim had asked.

She sighed, staring into the darkness. It was a question she had found herself asking herself more and more in recent weeks. A question that deep down she knew the answer to.

She had hesitated for several moments as she fumbled for an excuse that would not directly answer Tim's question before finally settling on the same excuse Tim had used when she had asked if he was planning to propose to Ashley, "I mean we haven't even been dating that long…it's not…" Falling silent, she could feel Tim's eyes on her, watching her.

"He loves you." Tim finally spoke, breaking the long moment of silence between, pointing out what she already knew,

"I know …" She swallowed hard and drew a deep breath before forcing herself to continue the painful conversation, "I know, and I feel I should love him back. He's so great in so many different ways…" She finally answered honestly, knowing Tim would instantly spot a lie before she added softly. "It's just… he's just not…" She heard her voice trail away as she glanced at him, stopping herself from continuing.

A large, hot tear rolled down the side of her face as she stared up at the dark ceiling and whispered, "He's just not … you."
