5 YEARS LATER

Staying in Oklahoma was something that Oakley just couldn't chalk up to do, so she gave her house that she grew up in to her grandmother, transferred her college credits, and moved to Arkansas. It wasn't away from the weather, but it was away from the painful memories that came with staying in Oklahoma and that's what she needed. Her mental health needed it. She needed a fresh start and to just start over and that's what Arkansas gave her. It was hard to leave her family and friends behind, but it had helped her mental health more than she could've put into words.

While in Arkansas, she met a guy by the name of Tyler Owens who was taking the same classes as her. She always found him to be kind of a jokester, but he was actually smart when he put his effort into it. She became pretty good friends with him for the short time he was in school. That was how she met the "Tornado Wranglers". A group of friends that Tyler had wrangled together to go storm chasing. Of course Tyler had heard about Oakley's parents so when he started chasing full time and doing live streams, he tried to convince her to go, but Oakley was dead set on focusing on school and finishing. She also wasn't sure if she was ready to do that kind of stuff again. Being in a storm was one thing, but chasing it, it was a whole nother thing. Especially when Tyler was crazy and put his truck in the middle of the tornados.

Once Oakley was out of school, she had decided to take a job offered to her by a news channel. It was good money and it was safe. Was it what she really wanted to do? Not really, but it kept her alive and out of harm's way for the most part. Unless the station decided to throw her out into the middle of the storms for her to hopefully not fly away.

Today was a day just like any other day. Oakley woke up 3 hours before her shift and made her way to the station. She always made sure to get there early so she could get ready on set. She walked into the huge news station wearing a tight, blue, dress with her black blazer over top. Her blonde hair was curled into loose beach waves that framed her face perfectly. She pulled a mirror out of her desk and did a light smoky eye and a dark red lipstick. She had a pair of ballet slippers still on but her black heels were tucked under her desk.

It was 20 minutes before she was due to be on the set and she had her 5 inch heels on, ear phone tucked into her ear and was hiding behind a camera waiting for her colleagues to finish.

"Oakley!"

She swung her head around as she heard someone yelling her name behind her and her eyes went wide as she saw Tyler sprinting from the offices. 'How the hell did this man even get on set?' She put her finger up to her lips, telling him to be quiet. Her cheeks flushed a bright red as the camera man looked over at the man with a glare. His name was Lex and Lex was not happy that some man was screaming her name and ruining his shots. Lex elbowed Oakley indicating she needed to go onto the set.

Oakley walked in front of the green screen and immediately channeled her meteorologist voice. She gave her report and couldn't help but feel self conscious with Tyler watching her. It took everything in her power not to blush a bright red. She wasn't used to her friends watching her in person. She knew that there were probably a lot more people than she cared to admit watching her that she actually knew, but it was different when you saw them staring right at you.
