Elizabeth Adams is in Virginia Beach for Spring Break 1989 when she receives a call that her brother, Will, has been in a terrible accident. With her trauma from the last accident that took her parents, she needs some assistance getting through these more-than-difficult moments. That's when a practical stranger, a fellow UVA sophomore, Henry McCord, lends her a helping hand.

It was almost like a meditative state of mind - relinquishing control. It was all part of the game: the preparation and the aftermath were as important as what happened in between, she knew this and Henry knew it too.
