Chapter 16 is here, with a more emphasized role on the achievements of everyone. This means that we will skip the month, as I feel that I have put everything I wanted to. I actually decided last minute to introduce the bracelet, as a form of symbolism for Munfurawa. I'll let you decide what it stands for, but for now I will reveal that so if it is sudden, it was.
As for Munfurawa, I feel like I already committed to all the connections of his current companions. The four specifically were Horikita, Kamuro, Azuma, Ibuki, and to a lesser extent Ichinose. Overall, the last few chapters focused more on their connections, rather than the actual story, which is to give some fluff to some readers. This chapter will get back to the focus of the sport's festival, but remember that everything that has been happened occurs on a repeated fashion as they prepare for the sport's festival.
Chapter 16: Sports Festival Preparations Part 4 – Willpower
"To defeat a monster, you need to unleash the one within you!" – Sadiqua Fathima.
Flashback (6th Grade Munfurawa)
"So, Makoto, it's about time I begin to inform you about the circumstances of this business."
Makoto was clearly confused. Looking back on his own past, he remembers making his way to the cities of Japan to pursue post secondary education. He was aware of the difficulties that it came with, but considering how much he studied and was a nerd, he allowed himself to relax, knowing he could handle anything he was brought.
As he processed his memories, a few came back to him. In particular, he had met an individual who had family ties to him. Whilst they weren't blood related, they had a historically connection.
The Munfurawa's. They were an interesting group of families.
Fukunaga Makoto was the descendent of soldiers of the Japanese army during World War II. He was told stories about their connections to the Munfurawa's.
Apparently, while some of the Munfurawa's were also of origins in Japan, some also came from India and Bangladesh. During World War II, when Japan invaded Southeast Asia, they were sent to fight the Japanese, and were subsequently captured and sent to Japan as war criminals.
However, Japan had surrendered before anything could happen, and this were integrated into Japanese society.
The connection between the Munfurawa's and Makoto's, was a simple mutual goal. Despite the Makoto's being soldiers of the second world war, they had protested the execution of captive soldiers, the Munfurawa's were no exception. What made them stand out was the fact that they were ordered to watch over them.
Therefore, when the war was over, and Japan was occupied, the Munfurawa's were allowed to integrate into Japanese society. Eventually, they integrated with Japanese culture, to become what they were today.
The Makoto's and Munfurawa's had always held a strong family bond through this. It was how they were able to attend post-secondary together in the city. Matsushita Munfurawa, was always a hard working individual, and saved enough to attend and function on his own.
As a result, the two began to hang around together in post-secondary.
To say the two were best friends, was an understatement. Their connection was ultimately rooted in generations of meetings and cooperation between each other's families. Originally a solider designed to watch over the captured soldier of a colony, turned into a mutual respect and friendship.
Unfortunately, Makoto himself could admit, he had unfairly stopped talking to Matsushita Munfurawa for a reason: he had found a more beneficial friend.
This was around the same time Matsushita Munfurawa began struggling in his years. It was natural for any student to have a period of struggling in their studies, and Munfurawa was no different. He began to prioritize his studies over Fukunaga Makoto, which wasn't bad, but it meant that they weren't hanging out together.
It was here, however, did he meet another individual at the time. This was a definite and unremarkable individual regarding appearance and abilities. What was even more interesting, was his lack of communicative skills among the other classmates.
He wasn't smart, athletic, or remarkable. The best one could describe him was, a commoner. He was just, there.
However, he befriended the individual, as he himself lacked any friends, and Munfurawa was busy.
Suddenly, he had begun to hang around more with this individual. Even when Matsushita Munfurawa had finally gotten his act together and was able to hang out more, Makoto had found a new friend.
The result was that Makoto had neglected Munfurawa, and thus he was left alone. That didn't mean Matsushita was alone, he had found his own friends to hang out with. But if you could pin the blame on someone who broke up a friendship, Fukunaga Makoto would blame himself, in part due to his new friend.
It wasn't until he was 20, did his friend request something drastic from him.
"What is it, Ayanokouji?" Fukunaga asked his friend. The man had grown into a large individual, and had an expression of apathy.
"I have been planning on something, ever since I started attending this university."
"And what is it?" Makoto asked.
The man chuckled, "It's groundbreaking, my friend. Transformative." Ayanokouji mentioned.
Makoto seemed somewhat nervous, but the man had laughed, and given Makoto generous terms.
"Help me with my project." Was all Ayanokouji asked, with the terms, and Makoto sighed.
"Very well, but I will continue my education, Ayanokouji."
"I accept that, as long as you help me."
It was quite some time when that happened, and his friend had dropped out of university to focus on his project. It was something Makoto was never told about, but the money he was promised was enough to dispel any form of hesitation.
As for Munfurawa, this was around the same time they had reconciled. While Munfurawa did not know of Ayanokouji, Makoto was the bridge to them, sort of mutual friends.
Regardless, after Makoto finished his university graduations, he opened a dojo, with the help of Ayanokouji.
The idea was very simple, according to Ayanokouji, but he needed another facility for his plans.
So, when Makoto moved back to his place of residence, Ayanokouji had asked him to bring one of his delegates, to convert his dojo, into what he called, a white room.
Makoto himself was never told exactly what the purpose of the white room was, but that was more for security concerns. Apparently Ayanokouji was performing this under the government's wing. Therefore it wasn't approved or anything.
Makoto sighed, but since he was on an island, with this building being thought of as a dojo, he had little to worry about regarding suspicions. Perhaps the long hours, but just add a daycare aspect to it, and you are good.
Therefore, when Matsushita Munfurawa had introduced Makoto to his son, Vikku Hoshni Munfurawa, he was intrigued, but terrified. His best friend's son, was now attending an experiment of another of his friends.
And whilst Professor Ayanokouji's own son has his greatest invention, Makoto's greatest invention, was Vikku Munufurawa. Said boy was the one who was ostracized by his community, and feeling remorse, and a way to repay Munfurawa for the sins he had committed, he paid for his tuition to a high school away from the island.
That was the last time he saw Munfurawa. .
As for his university friend, that friend now went by Professor Ayanokouji.
"I see." Makoto stated at last towards his delegate.
And that was when, he had learned the true story of Professor Ayanokouji's white room program.
Even if he was appalled, he still had to work with it. He had promised under a deal and contract, and with the money he was given, he had no choice but the continue.
"So, what is your name, then?" Makoto asked.
The delegate, who was the chairman of Munfurawa, chuckled, "I wouldn't worry."
Third Person POV
Munfurawa had taken a much needed breathe of fresh air. He had instead participated in martial arts activities early in the morning rather than the afternoon.
However, there as a reason. As the month turned to October, he could feel the colder air. It was an odd feeling to him. Back on the islands, he had rarely, if every felt the colder air around him.
It was always tropical and humid, just how he liked it. In truth, he wasn't aware the four seasons would be this impactful in the city. He wasn't aware of this.
For him back home, it was usually wet and dry seasons, rather than seasons of a wide variety of conditions.
When he had come, it was relatively warm, with a rather dry and humid feeling. Now, it was colder, windier, and weirdly enough the leaves on the trees were beginning to change colour.
He got close to one of the trees, clearly confused at what he saw.
"What are you doing?" A girl's voice made him snap his head towards the source of the voice. He turned his head immediately upon hearing the voice, only to see Horikita look at him with a confused expression.
"Oh, it's just you ice girl…" Munfurawa mumbled, as he continued staring at the leaves, as if her question didn't matter to him.
"They really are turning orange and reddish…" Munfurawa mumbled to himself.
"Uh, so what are you doing, Munfurawa-kun?" Horikita asked again.
Munfurawa look back to her, "Observing the leaves, I didn't know they changed colours…"
Horikita looked like she was seeing something dumb, considering she considered this trivial. "Yeah, during the autumn, the leaves here turn orange, red, before finally falling off their branches and stems."
"Wait seriously?" Munfurawa asked. Horikita sighed.
"Yes, what are you not from here?" She asked, before she realized something.
"No I'm not." Munfurawa said, reinforcing her thoughts.
He did mention that while he was born in Japan, he wasn't exactly from the city, unlike the most of them.
"Wait, are you from one of the tropical places?" Horikita asked, and Munfurawa nodded in response.
"Yeah, I'm from the far south of Japan. The only change in climate there is that sometimes it gets dry, or wet." Munfurawa revealed.
"Dry and wet?" Horikita asked.
"Difference in the amount of rain we get. During dry seasons, there very little, but during wet seasons we get a lot. It's also vulnerable to tropical storms typhoons." Munfurawa explained, and Horikita began to understand.
"Oh wow, that is rather different from here." She added a bit impressed at the difference he must have been experiencing at the moment.
"I'm noticing, this place is getting a lot colder…" Munfurawa stated as he began to shiver.
"Are you okay?" Horikita asked, somewhat concerned as it didn't seem like he was joking.
"How the hell aren't you cold? They really call you ice girl for a reason." Munfurawa complaint of the cold, which made Horikita sigh in relief. He was still fine.
"Sheesh…" Horikita mumbled, "Let's go get you some autumn and winter clothing."
"Winter?" Munfurawa asked, and Horikita then blinked.
"Oh right! You don't even know what snow is." Horikita revealed, and Munfurawa looked on in confusion.
"Snow?" He asked, before he tried remembering anything. "I mean I've heard of snow, but no I've never seen it in person."
Horikita had to hide her surprise, "So this year might be your first time seeing snow then."
Munfurawa nodded, "It will be, unless it doesn't snow at all."
Horikita sighed, "Well, before we head to class, let's buy some winter clothing for you. Do you even know how the seasons here work?"
"Clearly not," Munfurawa responded, and Horikita clicked her tongue. "I mean now clearly I didn't."
"It's simple, when it gets colder, snow comes and the days get shorter. When it gets warmer, it's usually rainy and the days get longer." Horikita summed up and Munfurawa nodded.
"Sounds simple enough." Munfurawa responded, and Horikita sighed.
"This jacket looks good for you." Horikita brought out a simple black jacket that clearly looked thick.
"It's so big…" Munfurawa mumbled, not seeing a jacket of that proportions.
"That's how these jackets keep everyone warm during the cold seasons." Horikita explained. "Also our dorms do have air conditioner and heaters, so don't worry about being cold in your own dorm."
"Thanks." He nodded to her, and she sighed.
"Let's head to class now." She then spoke, after a bit of time. The two remained rather quiet, as they made their way to their class. That's not to say nothing awkward was going on. They were still close, but the whole sport's festival has made them unable to communicate much.
Plus, Horikita's jealousy regarding his connections to others such as Azuma, Kamuro, and Ibuki, the last had made her colder to Munfurawa.
However, as the weeks passed by, Munfurawa had spent more of his time with Ayanokouji.
Mainly because they were able to compete with each other, they had an unspoken and private desire to see each other actually compete.
Of course, they couldn't openly compete in front of the school, or else they risk being noticed.
As a result, they would always stay back together and perform some tests, as a competition.
It seemed that their original assumptions about each other were correct.
Ayanokouji was more muscular, and capable of arm strength and muscle related stuff. In many of the reps like the grip, hammer arm, and triceps for example, Ayanokouji usually takes the place by quite the margin, regarding core strength. With bodily strength, Ayanokouji was stronger.
But in endurance and speed, Munfurawa was more capable, and was stronger on that field.
It seemed that in the two main sectors they would be tested on in the Sport's Festival, Ayanokouji was more adept in core-strength, while Munfurawa was more adept in endurance and speed. No doubt were they both capable in the other field, but in a competition between the two, they were neck and neck.
Still, if someone was picked to be more athletic, it was Ayanokouji, due to the fact that he did look athletic and bulkier than Munfurawa.
As for class lectures, they were pretty forgettable, regarding anything noteworthy. Not much had occurred, as they all were more focused on the sport's festival.
This was understandable, considering Chabashira herself put more emphasis on physical assessment.
Speaking of the teacher, she had been watching over Munfurawa, like she had with Ayanokouji.
It was clear that his issue of cooperativeness was somewhat skewered. Judging from what they picked up, Munfurawa had very little in his past. His past was a dud, in simple essence.
What was Chabashira supposed to work with. All she could do was observe the progress of Munfurawa.
And it was here, did she have quite the number of things to say about the individual.
Regarding the incident with Sudo's exam results: Munfurawa had chosen to sacrifice a whopping 100,000 points for Horikita and Ayanokouji, whom used their own points for one point to allow Sudo to pass the exam. This showcases that Munfurawa has some form of good will towards others, however we still lacked communicating with the others.
Regarding the assault case: Not much is known about his true actions, however according to Horikita, played a vital role in solving the case, or annulling it through cancelling the complaint. This showcases a sense and starting point of communication with others, however he still refuses to work alongside the others openly.
Regarding the island exam: Munfurawa had taken a much more pivotal role in bringing Class D to their resulting score of 255 points. His idea of using a decoy keycard to act as a loophole for the rules was incredibly smart. Many within his class has praised him for his leadership, which shows a sense of strong potential within his social skills.
Regarding the zodiac exam: Munfurawa had achieved a successful result, with the assistance of those within his class and the others, particularly being the only one to be able to bring more than one traitor.
For now, there is no doubt that Munfurawa's actions have impressed not just the homeroom teacher of his class, but even the homeroom teachers of other classes. He is certainly looked over in Class D, alongside Ayanokouji, due to his potential.
Chabashira sighed, it seemed that she didn't have to do much regarding Munfurawa after all.
It was strange, as she then began to ponder, if Munfurawa even deserved the F rating on his cooperativeness in the first place. Why exactly did they give him an F?
Was it because of his lack of any previous communications? Or was it because they noticed he didn't know many social norms?
Chabashira sighed, noticing the other students of her class enter the homeroom. With the Sport's Festival approaching very soon, she knew that she would have to watch out for both Munfurawa and Ayanokouji. Especially when the two have been cooperating more often.
That is a deadly combination, and she knew that the school might have to watch out.
As Munfurawa and Horikita entered, they noticed the mood of the overall classroom. Everyone seemed rather pumped into doing well for the upcoming festival. It seemed that Sudo had managed to increase the morale of others, as they all seemed ready.
And it wasn't a façade or anything. This was all true to their nature, as everyone had improved rather considerably. Everyone's overall core strength and endurance had improved. Even the most unathletic bunch of the class were performing in line with the others.
That isn't to say they were athletic now, but rather they went in the middle of the road now. While it was still underwhelming, it was an improvement overall, which was something they wanted to see.
Munfurawa had given those three students some advice on improving their strength and endurance, and it seemed to have worked like a charm.
They had checked the improvement of the other classes, and they could say that Class D made the most improvements.
But then again, it is easier to go from bad to okay, then okay to good, or even good to amazing.
Still, that meant it gave them some time to catch up to everyone, and in an assessment where they were at a clear disadvantage, they would desperately need it.
"It seems everyone is pumped for the sport's festival." Horikita started, which Ayanokouji nodded to.
"Why did I get dragged to this part of the class?" Munfurawa asked, realizing Horikita had grabbed his hand with her own to drag him with her and Ayanokouji.
"Because you are involved in this conversation." Horikita stated before continuing, "We should proceed with caution, however. The last thing we need is a disappointing ending."
"I'm afraid we cannot control that, ice girl." Munfurawa spoke up. "Sometimes you can try the hardest and it won't be enough."
Horikita sighed, "Leave it to you to ruin the mood, Munfurawa-kun."
"I'm not ruining the mood, I am just facing reality, even if we did what we could, you never know what could happen." Munfurawa emphasized.
"And what are you proposing?" Horikita challenged Munfurawa.
"Just be more careful, we can't risk nor afford this, especially with the results we got last time." Munfurawa reiterated. "I'm not saying we are going to lose, but we have to play this right to benefit."
"I see…" Was all Horikita replied with, and Ayanokouji nodded, clearly agreeing so that he didn't have to speak or say anything.
What was interesting that Munfurawa noted, were the amount of attention he was getting, which was something he was not a fan of.
Particularly, with Ibuki, Kamuro, Azuma, and now Horikita, it was weird how such a simple interaction with a member of the opposite sex could spark controversy.
It didn't help that with Horikita, since around the class she had become her own major and significant figure. For someone like Munfurawa to associate and hang out with her, it was bound to cause a lot of unwanted stares.
Especially the other girls, began to stare down at Munfurawa with interest, which was something he did not like. If some girls were uncomfortable with men staring at them, then the same thing could happen. Munfurawa never liked the looks others gave him, and that wasn't going to change with this.
That's not to say it's just Horikita whom Munfurawa had this problem with, as mentioned before, Ibuki, Kamuro and Azuma were all examples, that resulted in some uproar.
In fact, Munfurawa had remembered well Ike and Yamauchi coming up to him, begging for advice considering he hung out with four girls. Munfurawa sighed, not really liking the circumstances he was dealt with. This is what happens when you talk to girls it seems.
Munfurawa sighed, as he listened on to Horikita's talking.
"It seems that the class has also decided on their own activities." Horikita mentioned to which Ayanokouji nodded.
"Indeed, it seems that they will continue to use Sudo as their trump card. Not that I am complaining."
"Yeah, well- Hey!" Horikita noticed Munfurawa had decided to sit down and close his eyes. Horikita quickly grabbed her compass from her backpack before stabbing it towards Munfurawa.
Munfurawa quickly opened his eyes when he heard Horikita yell, before he quickly grabbed her arm before her compass could actually strike him back. Once again, Horikita's eyes widened at how fast he had deflected that.
"How can someone's reflexes be that quick…" Horikita mumbled.
"I wasn't sleeping, I heard everything you said, ice girl, but yeah it seems that we have already planned out who is attending what." Munfurawa reiterated after a bit.
Horikita nodded, "Very well, we will all meet in the gym for a final test to see our improvements!" She then exclaimed so that the whole class heard.
Munfurawa looked to Ayanokouji who remained emotionless. He looked around and noticed the strange look from Kushida specifically towards Horikita. It seemed to Munfurawa that she and Horikita had quite the history.
As the class went by, they once again made it towards the gym. However, Munfurawa had stopped Ayanokouji.
"Yes, Munfurawa?" He asked.
"I need you to tell me everything you know between Kushida and Horikita." Munfurawa started, much to the confusion of the emotionless boy.
"And why, exactly?" He asked.
"It seems to me that Kushida has some form of hatred towards Horikita. You know that very well, right?"
Ayanokouji nodded, "Well, I already have my own idea, but I will tell you what I know so you can make your own."
Munfurawa began to listen to everything Ayanokouji had to say. Since Munfurawa had missed the first two weeks of classes, he hadn't been able to observe the first exact examples where Horikita and Kushida had communicated.
And he later leaned that was because Horikita had refused to communicate with Kushida whatsoever. Ayanokouji mentioned a time when Kushida had asked him to get to know Horikita, only for the girl to walk away.
Then, with how much she talks bad about Horikita during the whole alter ego change, and most importantly how she threatened to accuse Ayanokouji of rape after forcing his hand on her breast.
Munfurawa sighed, as he began to think. "So, Hirata wanted everyone to say their names, and the only two people who didn't were…"
Ayanokouji nodded, "Horikita and Sudo."
Munfurawa pondered, "And yet, Kushida knew her name without asking anyone."
Munfurawa then understood the severity, and the fact that their strained relationship might have gone back for some time.
"By what you are telling me, I'm presuming they must have seen each other before this, so probably during pre-junior or elementary school. As a result, they probably went to the same school together." Munfurawa concluded.
Ayanokouji looked at the individual in front of him, in shock. Yet again, he had come up with the same results as he did. "Well, that's what I was thinking as well."
Munfurawa chuckled, "Well then do you think we're right?"
Ayanokouji sighed, "There's always the chance that we don't have everything we need to know. even with the recording you got, it is concerning."
"And the only way at this point to make sure, is to ask ice girl herself… I don't want her to attack me with a compass yet again…" Munfurawa complained, and Ayanokouji thought of the hypothetical scenario.
It was funny, if only Ayanokouji could show it.
"Alright Class D!" Sudo's voice bellowed through the gym, as Munfurawa and Ayanokouji were the last to make it out the changerooms entirely, much to the confusion of others.
"Is it possible to assume Ayanokouji and Munfurawa are dating each other?" Munfurawa heard one girl ask and everyone chuckled.
"No, we're not." Munfurawa answered back, stopping any rumours just like that.
Sudo looked on, "Anyways, I would like to commend you all for the passion you showed!"
Ike and Yamauchi cheered for mostly themselves, even if they clearly were the ones who didn't try really.
"So we will be doing a physical assessment test, just for core strength and endurance, to see the improvements everyone made! Remember, we have just under a week before the Sport's Festival, so make sure we give it our all!" Sudo emphasized.
"Remember, to focus on the roles you get, and not to get below fifth. We must make sure we provide the cooperation and results that we have been working for. We will start with the endurance test." Horikita started, as multiple students of Class D began to run at moderate pace.
The idea was a 2000m dash similar to the actual event. However, without the passing or teamwork. They wanted everyone to run the full distance. As a result, it was basically a 2km race.
The results were definitely better than how they started. Almost everyone finished at best at a good timing, or at worst, average timing.
Specifically, Ijuin, Sotomura, Yukimura and Hondo had all improved to match up with the class. Once again they weren't remarkable but they were decent in their abilities and capabilities now.
The main symbolism of improvement came from the grip strength. They had just after the cardio, done some leg extensions to see everyone's leg strength. Now, it was for their arms.
Once again, they went by order of seats.
The results were better overall.

In general, everyone seemed to have improved rather drastically, which was definitely a good thing. While one may be shocked at the sheer increase in grip, it is understandable, considering this went on for just over an hour every day. It also focused on endurance, rather than vigorous activities for over an hour.
It would be too brutal, even Horikita knew that, and thus getting everyone in a pace they were comfortable with, before increasing the vigor of the exercise was perhaps the simplest and most effective strategy. For the most part, everyone was in the fifties, as even the three most unathletic individuals made quite the significant progress in their grip.
But then again, it is easier to gain weight from nothing, than to gain weight from having something. It was more strenuous, as seen by Sudo's case, only increasing his grips strength by around 3kg, which was still very impressive. It's just that others who started around the forty mark had shown more of a 5-8kg improvement over the month in their grip strength. It was impressive, and everyone in the class felt fulfilled.
Even those who were nervous were feeling more confident, Airi Sakura, had gotten some advice from both Sudo and Munfurawa, and was able to increase her own strength respectably.
Overall, everyone seemed ready.
"Well, this is certainly promising, right Sudo?" Horikita asked, and the boy nodded.
"It is, everyone has made such improvements on their grip strengths, what about the endurance?"
"Similar story, though it's those who were in the middle originally who made the most improvement." Horikita put out, before knowing what to focus on for the remaining time.
"It seems that our cardio overall will need a bit more work, so we shall emphasis on that!" Horikita ordered, as many more began to head back on the treadmill to increase their stamina.
Horikita was definitely a strict gym teacher, but she got the results she was looking for, definitely.
As Munfurawa ran on the treadmill, he let his mind wander to the potentials of the festival. Specifically, any possible traps Ryūen might have left out. In addition, it wasn't just class D training to improve their skills, it was everyone.
Even some of Class C went against Ryūen's orders and began to practice. Class A did their own thing, while Class B was certainly the most troublesome athletically.
Munfurawa knew that Class B would be the class to worry about the most, in terms of their competition academically. However, no one knows what dirty tricks Class C might play on Class D, to make them lose. All they knew right now, was that they had to keep the momentum.
They had gained class points over the past consecutive assessments, even if the circumstances for this was to not lose points, they were still going to keep themselves strong. Otherwise, the whole system of their class would collapse.
For now, all they needed to do was have a strong unifying class, as it was something others struggled with.
Once again, as the rest of the class left, Ayanokouji and Munfurawa were left alone, trying the grip strength machines yet again. With the two of them alone, they actually showed their maximum strength.
Ayanokouji's seemed to have improved to around 115kg, while Munfurawa wasn't behind at around 112kg.
Regardless of the slight differences, to many athletic or ordinary people, this wouldn't matter as the numbers itself were impressive and almost inhumane to some. Once the two got up and was approaching their dorms, they were met with Horikita.
"Hey ice girl." Munfurawa started, and he sighed, knowing exactly what he wanted to discuss with the three of them.
"Hello, Munfurawa-kun, you texted me here?" She asked, and he nodded.
"Yes I did, I also kept Ayanokouji here, because the two of us have some form of hypothesis towards Class C. We can discuss it in mine or Ayanokouji's room." Munfurawa explained.
"Why not mine?" Horikita asked. Not that she minded, as she didn't want boys in her dorm obviously, but did he know why Horikita wouldn't let them?
"Because ice girl lives in an igloo." Munfurawa teased, and Horikita facepalmed, nope he didn't of course he didn't.
"Wow…" Was all she said pretending to be offended. However, she wasn't surprised or anything.
They decided for Ayanokouji's room, before Munfurawa got up, "Alright, I'm going to start with this recording."
Horikita seemed pressed once Class C was mentioned, "What is it?" But again, was letting her curiosity get the best of her.
Munfurawa sighed, opening his phone and letting the recording of Kushida play.
Horikita definitely seemed rather shocked at what she heard.
"Well, that's…" She didn't even know what to say, or how to properly finish what was on her mind, and for a right idea.
Munfurawa looked at Ayanokouji and he nodded, before Ayanokouji spoke, "Horikita, were you and Kushida in the same middle school together?"
Horikita definitely did not expect that, and her eye's widened in shock, "How did you find out?" She asked rather quietly, looking at the two boys.
"Well, there's a lot of clues." Ayanokouji started.
Horikita then reiterated, "Did Kushida tell you?"
Both boys shook their heads, "No, but we both arrived at that conclusion due to some notable clues that, Ayanokouji picked up, specifically on the first two weeks when I myself wasn't even present."
Horikita looked on as Ayanokouji began to lay his case, "During the first day of school, you and Sudo were the only ones who didn't introduce yourself to the class. In fact, you walked out after Sudo got angry."
"He got angry at that?" Munfurawa asked, and Ayanokouji nodded.
"But anyways, when she approached me, and asked for help in becoming friends with you, she used your name." Ayanokouji stated.
Munfurawa then added, "There's two possible ways she knew your name. Either she already knew you prior, or she looked at your nameplate. However, considering how Kushida is always in your face, she doesn't seem like the person who would look at every little details. Meaning she is more likely to have known you before."
Horikita looked down, "You two caught up with all of those? Even when I tried to avoid her at all costs?"
Munfurawa shrugged, "I don't know. Apparently, Ayanokouji had already put it together while I was looking into it. He purposely didn't tell me his own answer, just the details he had, and we ultimately came up with the same conclusion."
Horikita sighed, as she took a deep breathe after responding, "Well, considering the information you gave and the assumptions, yes, Kushida was in my middle school."
Munfurawa looked on, as he and Ayanokouji got one of their questions finally answered.
It was then did Ayanokouji spoke up, "I was already informed by Munfurawa about the recording. He had shown it to me prior, and the two of us agreed to confront you about Kushida."
"How did you get this?" Horikita asked.
"It was merely being at the right place and the right time when I caught her venting her anger out." Munfurawa explained, and Horikita sighed.
Horikita looked on, staring at the ceiling, "I will admit, I have known of her alter ego due to an incident back in middle school." Horikita stated.
"An incident?" Munfurawa asked, thinking back to his own incident back in junior high. "What kind of, incident?"
Horikita turned to face Munfurawa, "That is something I don't know the details of. I didn't associate myself with anything or anyone due to my loner status. As a result, I only saw from the sidelines as the principal and staff couldn't do anything." She explained and the others sighed.
Munfurawa, however was intrigued about Horikita being a loner.
"So she was a loner too…" Was all he could think, somewhat glad he had met another one like him.
Regardless, they were still focused on another important information they had to discuss.
Ayanokouji then added, "She is aware I know of her double personality, as she caught me, unlike Munfurawa with the recording, I don't have anything I can use against her."
Munfurawa sighed, "Ayanokouji and I have usually been working behind everyone's backs, even behind each other's."
"I am very aware of that fact, considering the stunt you both pulled during the deserted island exam." Horikita stated, with a bit of glare between the two.
Ayanokouji sighed, "Indeed, for we haven't realized we have been complimenting each other implicitly until the end of that exam. That was when we realized of our capabilities. Anyways, we didn't really know of each other's existences until then."
Horikita then brought up to Ayanokouji, "You do realize Munfurawa here has been working behind our back from Sudo's assault case?"
Ayanokouji pondered, "To some extent, yes."
Horikita sighed, "It was Munfurawa who set up those dummy cameras."
Ayanokouji looked towards Munfurawa, "You know what, that isn't that surprising, honestly. It is a Munfurawa thing to work behind our backs."
"So is you." Munfurawa countered back, which Ayanokouji couldn't defend himself from.
"You make a fair point. It is somewhat crazy how we think along the same lines, and how our plans in general do not hinder or cause any overlapping among one another."
Horikita sighed a bit in frustration, "So what exactly did you two want to talk about?"
Munfurawa nodded, "Right, let's get straight into that now. And this also involves Kushida."
Horikita looked like she wanted to facepalm, but she pulled through, "Regarding…"
"Munfurawa and I have developed a possibility that allowed Class C and Ryūen to figure the pattern regarding the VIP." Ayanokouji spoke.
Horikita seemed confused, which Munfurawa caught onto.
"I'll explain, in short, there is a possibility Kushida betrayed the class." Munfurawa bluntly stated, which caused Horikita to seem highly skeptical.
"And why do you think this? What could she benefit from?" She asked
Ayanokouji and Munfurawa looked at each other, "This will be somewhat difficult to explain, so bare with me, or Ayanokouji actually." Munfurawa started, giving Ayanokouji the room to speak.
The emotionless boy spoke, "The main benefit is private points. Anyways, it is possible that Kushida showed Ryūen her VIP status, which could have given Ryūen the idea of the pattern. In essence, it is something Kushida could have done as a way to instigate cooperation, but to also benefit herself. Though, in the process she probably betrayed Class D considering Ryūen and his class are the one's you are trying to surpass first."
Horikita nodded, "It does seem so, and it doesn't help that Kushida can be somewhat reckless…"
Munfurawa nodded, "Indeed, however there is a high possibility Kushida wanted more. In essence to this conversation and what Ayanokouji and I have discovered and theorize, Kushida is a dangerous individual."
Horikita looked on to her tea that Munfurawa had made while she was watching the recording.
"If she can supposedly betray you despite showing utmost respect to you one minute, then she can do the same for an entire class in a heartbeat." Munfurawa finally stated.
Horikita took a sip of her tea, as she finally came to terms, "You are right, her reckless duel natured personality can cause a rift within our class if it becomes an issue."
"We should keep an eye out on her, considering her potential. She is very dangerous, and I wouldn't recommend getting too close. She cleverly managed to blackmail me into remaining quiet." Ayanokouji added.
Horikita then pondered, "But what exactly do you think she could do in this sport's festival?"
"That we are not sure about. Ryūen himself is an unpredictable individual on his own. For now, we should maintain the status quo, however, look out for potential dangers that could push the situation to an extreme." Munfurawa explained.
"I did not understand what you just said." Horikita mumbled.
"He said, keep out for dangers that could cause drama." Ayanokouji simplified if for Horikita, who only looked more shocked.
"How the hell can you two understand each other…" She mumbled as she focused on her tea.
Munfurawa gave a small chuckle before poking her head, "Someone is as dense as an ice block right now."
Horikita mumbled as she took something out from her pocket.
Munfurawa sighed, "Why do you always have access to those compass points…" He mumbled, letting go of his previous actions.
"Thank you." Horikita stated as she sat down, clearly thinking.
However, it was certain to Munfurawa that something was on Horikita's mind. She was clutching her cup a bit more erratic, her eyes showcased that she was feeling nervous, and the likes.
"Is everything alright, ice girl?" Munfurawa asked, and Horikita looked up to Munfurawa, her eyes briefly surprised before returning to their usual glare.
"Yes, Munfurawa-kun, everything is fine." She stated, with Ayanokouji in the background listening intently.
"Are you sure, your overall expression showcases you seem nervous about something. You should tell us if something is on your mind." Munfurawa explained, with Horikita silently cursing that he caught onto her worries.
"Well, there is one worry." Horikita started, "Specifically regarding the relay race…"
"What's wrong, are you worried about the classes' capabilities?" Munfurawa asked.
Horikita shook her head, "It's not that…"
"Then what is it?" Munfurawa asked, but to his slight annoyance she refused to budge.
"Horikita." Munfurawa started, and the use of her name actually being used by Munfurawa instead of ice girl made her look up in shock, but also disappointment, as she had told him to call her ice girl.
"Yeah?" She asked, solemnly as she let her guard down. It was here did Munfurawa get an idea.
"Is there a personal reason why you are worried?" He asked.
Horikita then nodded, "During the relay race, Sudo has expressed a desire to be the anchor."
"Yes, I am aware, usually the anchor is the fastest, but judging by this you are disputing this fact." Munfurawa assumed, and Horikita nodded.
"Yeah, specifically, for the other classes. Since the relay will be the only event that will include every grade, I was thinking…" Horikita started, clearly struggling with her words judging by how she emphasized her tone.
"You were thinking…" Munfurawa thought before he realized, "Your brother?"
Horikita nodded, "Yeah… He will probably be the anchor…"
"I see, and you want to take the place as our anchor so that you could get acknowledged by him." Munfurawa finished for Horikita who nodded.
Silence, for quite some time as Munfurawa pondered. It was clear to Munfurawa that Horikita really valued to be acknowledged by her own brother, so much that he had made some bro-con jokes towards her.
As a result, he knew how important this was for her. But when you count a problem that is safe for everyone, or risky for the benefit of one, the obvious choice would be the safe option for all. That's what a normal person would do.
Not Munfurawa. He had shown how selfish he could be sometimes, specifically in the zodiac exam. And he is certain that Ayanokouji was on the same boat.
As a result, Munfurawa found himself pondering over the idea and the benefit of having Horikita running the anchor. She wasn't a bad runner at all. In fact, she was among the fastest within the class, and her physical prowess is nothing to be laughed at.
The problem, obviously, is that her motive is for personal and emotional reason, and that the class has a clearer safer option than her.
With that, Munfurawa sighed, "I don't have an issue putting you as the anchor, I'm sure Ayanokouji feels the same way."
Horikita gave a small nod and smile at that, "Thanks."
Munfurawa then raised his hand, "However."
This act caught Horikita by surprise, "However what?"
Munfurawa took a breathe, "You must ask Sudo about this. Ultimately, this is something that the class needs to know. The reason can be skewered for obvious reasons, however, you changing something without anyone's permission can result in some problems."
"I understand…" Horikita replied, clearly getting the message.
"I'm not saying you should, just that we should message Sudo about this at least." Munfurawa explained, before taking out his phone.
"What are you doing?" Horikita asked.
"I'm calling Sudo." Munfurawa bluntly answered with such easiness.
"Wait, since when did you get his contact?" Horikita asked.
Munfurawa chuckled, "Let's just say I have his email address.
Horikita only looked in surprise and shock when Sudo answered, clearly confused.
"Who is this?" Sudo asked with a tense voice.
"Chill down man, it's just me, what's that noise in the background, is Sakura there with you?" Munfurawa teased.
"Why you… Yes she is, we're watching a show. Is there anything you need?" Sudo asked.
"Horikita, for multiple reasons, wants to take over the anchor role."
"Straight to the point, how blunt can you be Munfurawa…" Horikita pondered as she listened to Sudo and Munfurawa talk through his phone about the sudden change up.
What surprised Horikita more, was the fact that Munfurawa was sticking up for her, against her own brother, and the class. She gave a small smile at the jester Munfurawa was committing to, which Ayanokouji noticed.
Eventually, Munfurawa had given a strategic reason as to why Horikita should be put.
Sudo could be heard clearly sighing, "Well, if it's something you have planned, then I think it will work well, and if Horikita wants this role, then I'm fine with it."
"Alright, do you want me to change the names, or will you?" Munfurawa asked at last.
Sudo was silent for a bit before he spoke, "I can do it, I have to drop Sakura back to her room after all."
"You drop Sakura back? Why?" Munfurawa asked confused.
"Because… well you know why…" Sudo mumbled, and Munfurawa immediately got the message.
"I see, thank you, I'll tell ice girl." Munfurawa said before he put his phone down.
He then faced Horikita, "Seems that Sudo had seen through and allowed for you to be the anchor of the relay." Munfurawa stated, and Horikita gave a small smile.
"Thank you, Munfurawa-kun…" She was clearly happy due to the actions Munfurawa had done to give Horikita the chance to prove her brother.
So much so, that she began to hug Munfurawa.
"Uhh, Ice girl?" Munfurawa asked.
"Suzune, you can call me Suzune if you want…" Horikita said, before she ended the hug. It was here did Munfurawa see some tears coming from her face.
Before he could speak, Ayanokouji beat him to it.
"Listen, you two can hug all you want, but can you please not do it in my dorm?"
A.N / Next chapter is the start of the big one! The Sport's Festival. We had quite the number of stuff happen this chapter, and I hope this was a nice leadup and little break for the event. Overall, I do have the choices of Munfurawa set up, but writing it will be much different.
In general, I think Horikita is more of a clear tsundere, with a yandere side to her. She can clearly be emotional, but also release it when it gets to her. Also the idea of her using a compass when she's angry comes from wattpad out of a Y/N x Suzune Horikita story, sorry.
Anyways, with that being said, if there is anything else anyone wants me to answer, let me know. For now, that is it for this chapter. It was fun to make, because I had a lot of thinking to do. Chapter 17 will be the start of the Sport's Festival. As for the amount of part's, we will see. Take care, and I'll see you for Chapter 17.
