Inside of a room made of crystals,
The dark lord Cherubimon punched the wall with his enormous fist. Having not only failed to persuade Koichi back to his side but also angered his once loyal followers, the dark lord was not happy at all.
"Gaarrrghh, how could they do this to me!?" the rabbit growled, "Have they forgotten the righteousness of my cause!?".
"There is nothing righteous about what you are doing Cherubimon," the voice of a woman spoke.
"Silence Ophanimon!" the rabbit roared.
The dark lord dwelled on the words of his children, how they accused him of giving up on them for Duskmon. What frustrated him most was that they had been right.
"What have I done?" Cherubimon moaned, "My efforts to hold onto my strongest warrior have pushed away the ones I hold dear,".
"It's not too late Cherubimon," Ophanimon pleaded, "Please cease your conquest and restore the digital world,".
The rabbit frowned, filled with both anguish and guilt. Maybe his former friend had a point? But then a devilish voice began to whisper in his long ears.
"Don't believe her," the voice said, "When your people suffered, she sided with Seraphimon, your enemy,".
"Hmmm, yes, she did," Cherubimon mumbled.
"Others like her refuse to understand, but you don't need them," the voice tempted, "You deserve to rule, you shouldn't let those fools deceive you, they only want you to suffer!".
"Grrrrr, I will not be tricked by you, Ophanimon!" Cherubimon yelled, "You made your choice long ago!".
"But Cherubimon please!" Ophanimon pleaded.
"Silence!" he roared as he glowed with darkness, "I will not let you or those traitors stand me in my way!" Cherubimon then turned away from the armored angel, "No matter what they once meant, I will achieve dominance over this world!".
The dark lord then vanished, leaving the female angel Digimon alone in her prison.
"Oh Cherubimon, what happened to you," Ophanimon lamented, unawere that another was laughing at her pain.
Just to clarify, that was not me talking. I use italics and bold, not just bold. Okay back to the story.
Back with the heroes,
The six kids, the four redeemed warriors, as well as the three smaller Digimon, walked through the canyon. Looks of determination on their faces as the pink light of the rose morning star shined down on them. For they were approaching what would be their toughest battle yet.
"We're close," Koichi said, "I can feel it,".
"Not long till fight Cherubimon," Grumblemon added.
"But heys, we's gotta do what we's gotta do, right," Arbormon stated, too which the other Digimon warriors nodded.
"Oh, those former baddies are so brave," Bokomon said, "Ready to face the dark lord despite, well you know,".
"I want to brave to papamon!" Patamon said.
"Does that mean he has to fight you Bokomon?" Neemon stupidly said.
"Don't even say that you moron!" Bokomon shouted, before snapping Neemon's pants.
"Owowow!".
Ugh, I wonder if anyone would notice if I wrote them out?
"What, I'll have you know I'm very important!" Bokomon shoted.
"Um, who are you talking to?" Patamon asked.
"Huh, I, I don't know?" Bokomon then looked around, "I think this place is getting to me?".
The trio soon noticed they were falling behind and quickly ran to catch up.
However, not too far away a shadow was hiding.
Eek, how did they hear me!? My power must be more drained than I thought? Gack, ugh, gerr, no, not yet. I need to be ready for the last phase.
The shadow then slipped away, unseen by anyone. But for how much longer.
Later,
The heroes then stood atop a cliff that looked as if it was the very edge of the world. They then saw a large tower-like fortress that stood floating in the center of the cracked world.
"The Rose Morning Star," Takuya said, for their journey was nearing its end.
"We finally back here again," Grumblemon said.
"It's like I always say, there's no place like home," Arbormon said, "Though I'm not too sure that really applies here, right,".
"It's been so long since we were last here," Ranamon said, sounding a bit nervous, "Is anyone else getting shivers about all this?".
Mercurymon nodded, as thoughts of this place flooded his mind.
"Hear me," A voice from the children's pockets said.
"Huh?" Takuya winced, before pulling out his D-tector.
"I know that voice," Zoe said.
"Children and Digimon, you finally made it," The voice from the D-tector spoke.
"It's Ophanimon!" Takuya said.
"Eh, you don't suppose she'd be mad at us sugar?" Ranamon asked.
"She seem fine with Grumblemon," the earth warrior said, "Then again, me didn't-,"
The two then looked towards the steel warrior.
"Why arth thou starr'ith at me?" Mercurymon asked, sounding a bit annoyed.
The two just looked away, trying to stay quiet, while Arbormon seemed rather confused.
"With the spirits of the 10 legendary warriors, you must defeat Cherubimon here," Ophanimon's voice explained, making the kids gasp.
"Cherubimon is here too?" Koji said, before they all looked up at the tower.
"Nay, tis an delusional orange monkey, of course he's here you ninie!" Mercurymon said with sarcasm, earning a scowl from Koji.
"He is anticipating your arrival," Ophanimon explained.
But then, many streams of fractal code appeared and entered the top of the tower.
"Oh, where's all that data going?" Tommy asked.
"The digital-," Ophanimon tried to say, but she was soon cut off, leaving only the sound of static interference.
"Her signal dropped out," Takuya said, before looking up at the tower, "That huge data stream must have overloaded things, we just got cut off!".
"What do you think that data's coming from?" Zoe asked.
"Beats me sugar?" Ranamon replied, "I neva really paid that much attention to what Cherubimon even needed the data for?".
"Eh, same for me and Grumble, right," Arbormon said, "How about yous Mercurymon,".
"Alas, tis dark lord's end goal eludes me," Mercurymon said, sounding regretful, "However, I can surmise that it is unlikely to be good for our world,".
"Maybe Koichi knows something about it?" Tommy asked.
This caught they attention of the others.
"Yeah he was Duskmon, he must know what's going on," JP said, before looking towards the bearing of the spirit of light, "He Koji your brother was on the dark side, ask him what gives?".
Koji just looked over to his brother, who was still looking up at the tower.
However, JP's bluntness soon got him an elbow bump to the gut from Zoe, "Duaaaahh!" he groaned.
"Now that was subtle, Palazzo," She said, sounding unamused with sarcasm, "You ever thought of becoming a diplomat?".
"Even Grumblemon not that thick," the earth warrior groaned, as he held his hand on his face.
"Well somebody's gotta ask?" JP maoned, still in pain.
"I wish I knew," Koichi said, looking down in disappointment, "Cherubimon's gathering data for some reason, but I don't know why?" he then looked over to the others, "Sorry I can't be of more help,".
"Eh, join the club," Arbormon said.
"Anyway, what we really need to do now is to find and rescue Ophanimon," Takuya said, trying to clear the awkwardness.
"But how are we gonna get there from here?" Tommy asked.
While the children discussed this, the four former villains stepped to the side. For they knew it would not be long until they had to face their creator.
"Hm, the time of reckoning draws near, unfortunately," Mercurymon said with regret.
"You think we can really do it?" Ranamon asked her Digimon comrades, "You know, with Cherubimon?".
"You were able to fight him early?" Patamon pointed out, "How should now being any different,".
"Yeah, but dat was just an illusion of Cherubimon, right," Arbormon explained, "Dah real thing gonna be a lot tough to beat, yah understand,".
"And real one going be way meaner to former evil warriors," Grumblemon added, "Hard to say if Grumblemon and friends be as brave as before,".
This made the four look down.
"Cherubimon evil Digimon that no like us now," Grumblemon said, "But him still creator,".
"Yeah, buts we's all good guys now, right?" Arbormon said, "So we's gotta do what we's gotta do, yah understand?".
"True, however, the question tis not just if we should face the dark lord, but tis if we even can?" Mercurymon surmised, "For Cherubimon tis a most powerful Digimon to behold,".
The former villains were quiet, for this was something they really did not know how to overcome. Because even if they were to muster up the courage to face him, how would they even defeat one as powerful as the dark lord Cherubimon.
"Argh, why need be so frustrating!" Grumblemon ranted.
"I know what you mean sugar," Ranamon sighed, before looking over to the kids, "You have any advice Zo?" However, she soon noticed the others were gone, "Huh, wha, hey!".
Soon enough, the other warriors eventually noticed that the others had left, "Huh!?"
Grumblemon then looked around frantically before seeing that the humans had digivolved and were heading to the castle, by jumping on the floating rocks while Beetlemon carried the others.
"Hey wait up friends!?" Grumblemon shouted, "We no got no flying spirits!".
"What molly cod is this!?" Mercurymon said, "Come back thy far-sighted maroons!".
"Guys!" Ranamon shouted, but they were too far away, "Ugh, now how are we supposed to catch up to them now!?".
"Y'know I's might be able to throw some of you over, right?" Arbormon offered.
"Don't you dare Arbormon!" Ranamon snapped, rather unamused at the idea.
"Hmph, allow me," Mercurymon sighed, before smiling as fractal code covered him, "Slide evolution!" he then transformed into the freaky steel beast, "Sephirothmon!".
The eyeball orb Digimon then extended it's long body from the cliff over too the floating fortress, creating a bridge.
"Tread carefully thy comrades," Sephirothmon spoke.
"Nice one Sephirothmon!" Grumblemon cheered, before jumping on to the beast.
"Oh your too kind sugar," Ranamon happily added as she crossed.
"Eh don't mind if I's do, right," Arbormon added as he joined, "Certentlly more convenient den all dat rock jumping, yah understand?"
Meanwhile up ahead,
The 6 warriors, as well as the three smaller Digimon, had found themselves at a door. It seemed like it would be the entrance, but it was only a door and didn't go into to anywhere.
"Um, does this remind anyone of the dark gate or is it just me?" Beetlemon asked.
"This must be the entrance to the castle!" Agunimon said.
"Okay, but there's nothing back here for us to enter into?" Lobomon pointed out, while some of the others had gone over to the other side of the gateway.
"Well you'd have to think this gate leads to somewhere?" the fire warrior asked.
"I bet Grumblemon or one of his pals might know?" Beetlemon said as he walked back to the front of the doorway, "What's taking them so long?".
"Uhm, you don't suppose they think we forgot them?" Kazemon asked.
"I'm sure there fine, just give em a minute," Agunimon assured.
But suddenly two red cloaks appeared above the heroes and out of them came small ball and chains that nearly smacked them.
"Whoa, nice reception?" Agunimon said as he leaned back.
The chains then retracted into the cloaks, before they flipped around to reveal ghostly reaper like Digimon with eyeball necklaces.
"It is time for the harvest-," One started,
"Of your soul!" the other ghost finished.
"Ah, those are Phantomon Digimon, the grim reapers of the digital world!" Bokomon pointed, while Neamon shook with fear, "Phantomon always carry a scythe and know how to use them, they wear crystals around their necks which give them clairvoyant power and are just dying to see into the future to know who their next victim will be,".
"Soul Chopping!" the Phantomon shouted as he flew in to slice with his scythe.
Agunimon backed up, but Beetlemon wasn't so lucky and was knocked down, "Whoa!".
Lobomon then drew his light staff, "Lobo Kendo!" The light warrior then dashed at the ghost, but the reaper quickly dodged. Lobomon turned to see the reaper laughing at his miss.
However, Phantomon was soon alerted when the dark warrior began charging his lion's mouth.
"Shadow Meteor!" Loweemon roared as he fired the glowing dark attack from his lion chest.
Sadly, the ghost dashed upwards and avoided the attack.
"Hey nice shot," Lobomon said to his brother, to which the dark warrior nodded.
"Hurricane Waves!" Kazemon then tried to slam the Phantomon with her tornado fingers, but the ghoul swiftly dodged with ease. He then went in to slice the fairy, but before he could Kumamon came flying in as an ice sickle.
"Frozen Tundra!" Kumamon shouted as he went flying towards the ghost. Sadly, this attack was also dodged.
"You sure froze him out," Kazemon complimented, happy to be saved from the slice.
"It was my pleasure," Kumamon replied after reforming from the ice shards.
"Thunder Fist!" Beetlemon then tried to slam down one of the reapers, but like the others the ghost dodged, "Slippery little devils, aren't they?".
"Pyro punch!" Agunimon then threw his flames, but the Phantomon swooped out of the way.
The two reapers then floated back to the top of the gate.
"Nice try!" one of them taunted, before both laughed and disappeared with a swipe of their cloak.
The warriors looked around nervously.
"Great, they vanished!" Agunimon moaned.
By this time, the former evil warriors had finally caught up.
"What for happen friends?" Grumblemon asked, while passing the wall the smaller Digimon were hiding behind.
"We were fighting these Phantomon creeps, and they just vanished!" Agunimon explained.
"Phantomon huh?" Ranamon with displeasement, while Sephirothmon switched back to Mercurymon and joined them, "Never cared much for those gouly guards,".
"Tread with caution, for thy Phantomon possesses a crystal that can capture thee with in another dimension for all eternity!" Mercurymon warned.
"That doesn't sound good," Kazemon said.
"Phantomon show yourselves!" Agunimon demanded, while he and the others spread out.
"Don't wander too far!" Patamon warned.
As the heroes searched for their foes, Beetlemon thought he heard something and turned around. But then he was swiped away by the Phantomon's cloak.
"Beetlemon!" Kazemon cried, before the same thing happened to her.
"Kazemon!" Ranamon shouted with worry.
"It's no use, we can't see'em in time to stop," before Loweemon could finish, the Phantomon went and nabbed the warriors of fire and ice, before the other grabbed the warrior of light and water, "No!"
"Ranamon!" Grumblemon and Mercurymon cried.
The earth warrior then pulled out his hammer in retaliation, "Come and face Grumblemon freaks!"
But then the cloak came and stole appeared to steal Mercurymon.
"Hey, face me, not Mercurymon!" Grumblemon groaned.
"Grumble look out!" Arbormon shouted.
"Huh?" the troll said in confusion, before being spirited away "Whah!".
"Aw no," Arbormon groaned, before a cloak appeared behind him, "Not this time, right!" The robot then dodge rolled out of the way, ending up behind Loweemon.
"Hahahahaaha," the Phantomon laughed,
"Once trapped inside our crystal spheres," One of them said, as his sphere shined with it's prisoners.
"You can never escape," The other said as his sphere shined.
"Join them!" they said in unison as they circled the two warriors.
"No, I won't let you!" Loweemon growled.
"They are waiting for you," the two ghosts hauntingly said as they vanished.
"Hey don't worries, right," Arbormon said, "We's just gots to bust them out with outs getting nabbed, yah understand,".
"Easier said then done," The dark warrior replied, before looking towards the wood warrior behind him. "How did you dodge them by the way?"
"I's just kind of sensed them before they striked, right," Arbormon answersed, though he seemed unsure, "Guess I's got a clear mind or something, yah understand?".
"Wait, that's it!" Loweemon said, before closing his eyes, "To react quickly, we must clear our minds,".
"Right," Arbormon said, before closing his eyes. Though before he did, the wood warrior saw someone in the shadows who assured him.
The warriors of dark and wood stood quietly, as they waited for their foes to strike. Their minds clear and soon they could almost hear the shadows the ghost lurked in.
Suddenly one of the Phantomon appeared ready to strike, as did the second reaper.
But before they could slice their targets, Loweemon vanished while Arbormon jumped into the air.
Then from the shadows, Lowemon attacked, "Shadow Meteor!" he shouted as he fired the laser from the dark
However, once again the Phantomon dodged just in time.
"Haha, you missed!" they taunted.
"Thou shalth think again,'' a sophisticated voice said, alerting the ghost.
Suddenly with a snap, Mercurymon appeared in front of the missed attack and raised his mirror shields, "Dark Reflection!" the attack of the dark warrior was then reflected back towards the Phantomon.
The ghost tried to dodge like before, but Arbormon then shot out his hands and grabbed them, "Ah no yah don't, right,".
The wood warrior then slammed the Phantomon into each other, which was rather painful.
The attack then scorched the reapers, making them cry in pain, "aaaahhhh!".
"Didst thou honestly believe thy could'th hold'ith me?" the steel warrior taunted.
Arbormon, after retracting his hands, then took this chance to attack, "Blockade Seed!" he then shot out a seed that grew into vines that wrapped up the ghost, "Like I always say, fortune favors the prepared, right,".
Lowemon then reappeared, growling as he made his spear appear.
"Huh?" The Phantomon asked as they looked at the dark warrior.
"Shadow Lance!" Loweemon then stabbed his weapon right through the reapers.
"Aaahhh!" they screamed as their crystals shattered, freeing the other warriors making them reappear in the world.
The fractal code of the Phantomon then appeared as they faded to black.
Loweemon then approached the reapers, "Confused evil souls, be buried in darkness and sleep," he said as he pulled out his D-tector, "Let the shadows purify you!" he then swiped it across the code, "Fractal code, digitize!"
The Phantomon then disintegrated, leaving behind two eggs that soon floated away.
"Outstanding!" Bokomon praised.
"Wow Lowemon, you saved everybody!" Patamon cheered.
"Thanks Koichi," Lobomon said to his brother, which the dark warrior nodded.
"Hey me and Mercurymon helped to y'know, right," Arbormon pointed out, "Ah well, I suppose yous guys being okay is thanks enough, yah understand,".
"Speaking of which, how did you appear just in time to help sugar?" Ranamon asked.
"Simple m'lady, I merely slipped away just before thy Phantomon could spirit me away'th," the steel warrior explained.
The doors then opened.
"The gate!" Ranamon said.
"Right, let's go!" Agunimon said.
Soon the warriors soon entered. However, Arbormon was looking back outside for a bit.
"You okay buddy?" Kumamon asked.
"Huh, yeah, yeah," the robot replied, "It's just when I did's the thing with a clear mind I sensed three guys hiding in dah shadows, not counting Mercurymon, yet there was only two Phantomon, yah understand,".
"That is strange?" Kumamon replied.
"Oh you were probably just a bit rattled from the fight sugar," Ranamon said, having walked up to the two, "We should really get going now, so you may want to worry about it later,".
"Eh, good point der Ranamon," Arbormon replied, before joining the others alongside Kumamon, "It's was probably just my imagination, right?".
After the heroes had entered, the doors then closed. However, perhaps the wood warrior was not too off about something still lurking in the shadows.
…..
However, there were more pressing matters. For at the top of the fortress, fractal code was still being drawn into as the dark lord laughed evilly.
"Excellent, just a little more," Cherubimon grinned as he loomed over the orb the fractal code was entering, "Once I have absorbed all the digital world's data, I will possess even greater power," he spoke, gazing into the data orb as he thought of his next target, "The spirits of the 10 legendary warriors are drawing ever closer and when I have their power within my control, the digital world will be mine,"
But the dark rabbit then thought of his children and frowned, "But will the cost be worth it, worth, them?" he wondered.
"Why should you care, they have deserted you," a prideful voice whispered, "Your cause is too important to let traitors distract you, they are no better than your former friends,".
"Hmm, maybe so," the dark rabbit groaned, though he was still unsure.
Inside of Cherubimon's castle,
The heroes continued up a spiraling staircase, running quickly to reach the top.
"Little further," Grumblemon said.
"Oh don't start'ith that again!" Mercurymon groaned.
"Start what?" Beetlemon asked.
"Eh, it was during our trip Serphimon's castle, I'll explain later, right," Arbormon said.
"Not to mention I'm pretty sure where nowhere close sugar," Ranamon added, to which Grumblemon groaned at.
Eventually they came to a room filled with a dark void.
"What in the world is this place?" Agunimon asked.
This was a strange indeed, filled with purple stairs on the walls and ceiling with gateways that led to more displaced paths, like an abstract painting. Strangest were flat rectangles made of fractal code that floated about.
"Who knows, this world just gets weirder and weirder" Beetlemon said, before looking to the earth warrior, "Any chance you might know?".
"Nothing come to mind?" Grumblemon said, feeling uneasy at this place, "Cherubimon not let us ever come here before,".
"Can't say I'm upset he didn't sugar," Ranamon added, moving closer to the steel warrior.
As they walked through the dark room, they could hear moaning and yelling coming from the floating fractal code.
"I'm shutting my eyes, tell me what happens!" Neemon cried.
Suddenly a demonic shadow reached its black hand out of the code and tried to grab one of the heroes, before others began to reach out from other portals.
"What is this !?" Agunimon asked, freaked out like the other warriors.
"I don'ts know, but it sure, Gahhhh-!" Arbormon said, before one of the shadows tried to drag him into the code.
"Arbormon!" Grumblemon screamed, before he and Kumamon tried to pull the wood robot out.
"How do we stop these things?!" Kazemon screamed.
"I don't know but just do it!" Ranamon cried, as the shadows got closer to the girls, uncomfortably close.
But then, a bell started to ring, causing the shadows to stop attacking.
"Praytel, what be'ith that which beckons?" Mercurymon said in confusion.
"Whatever that is, it stopped them!?" Agunimon said.
The bell continued to toll and the shadow monsters slowly returned to their fractal code prison.
This also allowed the ice and earth warriors to get Arbormon out.
"Got'cha," Kumamon sighed with relief.
"You okay friend?" Grumblemon asked.
"Woah, feels like I was being attacked by a giant forest dragon with flies or something?" Arbormon replied, as he rubbed his head, "Don't know what dat's about, right?".
"This is the hall of shadows," a voice spoke, "All those who have fallen prey to Cherubimon's treachery are locked forever within,".
The heroes then looked to see a large black goat with huge horns and a bell hanging from his neck approaching them.
"And just who are you?" Agunimon asked.
"Wait minute, me think know that Digimon?" Grumblemon said, "Why Grumblemon not remember called?".
"My name is Oryxmon," the goat spoke as he stepped out of the shadows, "I am not your enemy,".
"Oryxmon is a great black goat who acts as a sentry, he is programmed to hold large amounts of data, which help him protect the secret treasures and ruins of the digital world," Bokomon explained.
"Oh I remember now, he used to help take care of us back when Cherubimon was too busy," Ranamon said, "Back when we were younger and cuter that is,".
"Yeah he also kept us out of dis place, right," Arbormon added, "And after what just happened, I's gots to say thanks a bunch, yah understand,".
"So what you do here now Oryxmon?" Grumblemon asked.
"Cherubimon's castle is a deadly labyrinth filled with pitfalls and traps," Oryxmon explained, "But I can lead you safely to lady Ophanimon,".
"What do you think?" Agunimon asked the others.
"I don't know, I'm not sure we can trust this guy," Lobomon said.
"Thy caution tis warranted Lobomon," Mercurymon spoke, "While Oryxmon be'ith friendly, thou still be'ith loyal to lord Cherubimon,".
"Tell us what proof do you have that we can trust you?" Agunimon demanded.
The goat remained silent as heroes stared at him. However, suddenly Patamon joyfully flew towards the goat.
"Wha-wha-where are you going Patamon my boy!?" Bokomon panicked, while Neemon just hung onto Kumamon's head.
"Oryxmon is a nice goat," Patamon cheered as he flew forward, "Oryxmon won't hurt anybody!" he then plopped on the large goat's head and giggled, which made Oryxmon smile.
"Well kind of hard to argue with that," Agunimon said.
"No kidding," Lobomon added.
"See, he's just as friendly as back then," Ranamon said.
"Indeed, tis a most fortunate outcome," Mercurymon added, "I thank thy for thi safe passage Oryxmon,".
"Sorry for doubting you," the fire warrior apologized, "We'd appreciate you showing us the way,".
"Very well, let's begin," Oryxmon said, before turning around and beginning to leave, to which the heroes followed.
Soon enough the legendary warriors followed the large goat up many long staircases.
As they proceeded up the stairs, Mercurymon came to a stop, seeming to be pondering something. This was noticed by the water warrior, who then approached the mirror.
"Huh, what's the hold up sugar?" Ranamon asked.
"Forgive'ith me for pausing," Mercurymon replied, "For I was pondering the tragedy of thy beast spirit,".
"My beast spirit, oh?" Ranamon said, feeling anxious, "So, have you've figured out what's wrong with Calmaramon?".
"Perhaps," Mercurymon said, scratching his nonexistent chin, "Tell me Ranamon, does thou perhaps harbor hatred for Calmaramon?".
"W-what, well, I wouldn't say that sugar," She replied, sounding unsure, "I just, haven't felt too keen on becoming her, not after how ugly it made me to everyone,".
"Hmm, tis as I thought," Mercurymon spoke, "Thy beast spirits be'ith difficult to control, but they arth also still a part of us legendary warriors,".
"Um, what are you getting it sugar?" Ranamon asked, rather confused.
"Tis only a theory, but perhaps thy beast spirit may haf felt hurt by thou's distain for'th it," Mercurymon explained, "It's rampage may be'ith a byproduct of thou's resentment,".
Ranamon was quiet as she looked down. Thinking back to when they had fought Plesiomon she had said some pretty nasty stuff about her beast spirit and the less than appealing reaction it gave others. Just the thought of the ugly things everyone called her when she had become Calmaramon the first time still stung like jellyfish.
"Okay, so what if I got a beef with how my beast spirit looks?" Ranamon said, trying to act like she didn't care, "How do I get her to listen to me like before sugar?".
"Alas, I believe thy dilemma on overcoming thy complicated feelings for thy beast spirit, tis something only thou can'th figure out m'lady," Mercurymon sighed, "Forgive me ineptitude, but sadly the inner workings of a beast spirit differ from each of us legendary warriors,".
"I know," Ranamon sighed with disappointment, "Thanks for trying to figure out something sugar,".
Mercurymon nodded, "Though I shal'th say'ith, that I see thou ar'th always beautiful in anyform,".
"Thanks Mercurymon," Ranamon smiled, before noticing that the others had left a while ago, "Uh, I think we ought to catch up sugar," she said, both nervous and a bit embarrassed.
"Alow'ith me," Mercurymon smirked, before pulling himself and Ranamon into his mirror shield, before vanishing with a snap.
Later up ahead,
After the steel and water warrior had rejoined the group, the heroes eventually came to a room made of large colorful crystals that glowed brightly.
"Lady Ophanimon is being held in the sphere above," Oryxmon explained "Sealed within the light of that golden orb,".
The others then looked upwards to see a humongous crystal orb held in place by many sharp crystals as it glowed brightly.
"So that where Cherubimon stash her after Grumblemon and friends deliver to base," Grrumblemon said.
"Um, that's what Oryxmon just said?" Beetlemon pointed out.
"But him no capture Ophanimon to bring here," Grumblemon argued.
"No, that's not what I meant!" Beetlemon replied, rather annoyed.
"Oh boys, where leaving without you," Kazemon teased, as the others proceeded ahead with the goat Digimon.
"Try to keep up sugar," Ranamon added.
"Hey wait!" both Beetlemon and Grumblemon shouted as they ran to catch up.
However, before entering the sphere, Oryxmon came to a stop.
"Before we proceed, I would like to have a word with Cherubimon's former warriors," he said, "In private,".
"You mean us sugar?" Ranamon said, rather surprised as were the others.
"Well it's fine with us and all," Arbormon said, before looking towards the human warriors, "Eh yous guys mind?".
"No go ahead," Agunimon said, before he and the others stepped aside.
"So what gives?" Grumblemon asked bluntly.
"Please impart thy wisdom to us Oryxmon," Mercurymon said.
"I could sense the hesitation you feel about facing Lord Cherubimon," the goat explained, "Am I correct that you fear what is too come?".
The four sighed.
"Thou arf not mistaken Oryxmon, for thy confrontation with our creator has left us shaken," Mercurymon replied.
"Um yeah, we just not sure we'll be able to face Cherubimon," Ranamon said, "Like Mercurymon pointed out, he created us after all,".
"Not mentioned he's partially powerful, right," Arbormon added.
"Yes, that too," Ranamon said, "Even if we were to work up the confidence, I'm not sure we could even beat him sugar,".
"So what do now?!" Grumblemon asked.
"I know you are worried, but you must be brave," Orxymon said, "Watching over you four, I know that you are all strong in your own way and that great potential rest within you,".
"Well, I won't say your wrong sugar," Ranamon replied, slightly arrogant.
"Cherubimon has been growing more powerful by the minute, but if you can believe in yourselves and your comrades, then I know you'll be able to make it through," Orxymon said, bestowing a feeling of confidence in the four Digimon, "It will be difficult, but I know you four can do it,".
The four warriors smiled, feeling a flicker of hope in their hearts.
"Thou has guided us once more Oryxmon," Mercurymon said with a grin.
"Just like back then," Grumblemon smiled, "Old goat still care,".
"Thanks Oryxmon, will try to be ready," Ranamon added.
"Right," Arbormon said with confidence.
"Very well, let us continue," Oryxmon said.
The four Digimon nodded, their confidence slightly boosted by their old friend.
A few moments later,
After regrouping with the others, the heroes entered the orb alongside the large goat. The inside was filled with even more light, emitting from beams of light the reflected off of the entirety of the orb.
"It's so bright," Kumamon said.
"And warm," Kazemon added.
"Strange, this feeling tis familiar, yet different somehow?" Mercurymon said.
"Yeah, I just don't know how?" Ranamon added.
"Well I's doubt we'd have any warm memories of dat der Ohanimon, so did don't really make séance, right?" Arbormon said, "Say you don't thinks she's mad about us capturing her right?".
"No take chance, so keep quiet Arbormon," Grumblemon grumbled nervously.
"Good point, it's like I also say loose lips sink ships, right," Arbormon replied.
"What is that?" Agunimon asked, referring to the source of all the light in the center of the room.
"That glowing entity you see before you is one of the three great angels, lady Ophanimon," Oryxmon explained.
A closer look showed this to be true, this was indeed the one who had summoned the kids to the world, the humanoid green armored female angel Digimon herself, Ophanimon.
Patamon who was still atop the goat gazed upon the women, feeling like he had known her.
"You made it," Ophanimon smiled, her voice the same that had spoken to the children through the D-tector's long ago, though much clearer, "The legendary warriors have returned,".
The warriors of lighting and wind immediately jumped towards the imprisoned angel.
"Come on Z, we gotta get her out of there!" Beetlemon said, "Thunder fist!".
"Hurricane Winds!" Kazemon said, as she and the bug warrior let loose their attacks on the crystal prison.
"Kazemon, Beetlemon wait minute!" Grumblemon tried to warn.
But their attacks were bounced back, sending the two back to the ground.
"Ahhhhh!" they screamed, before stopping themselves from hitting the ground.
"The seal's too strong to break through," Kazemon said.
"Tis most apparent, as thy be impatient," Mercurymon explained, with a bit of sarcasm.
"I really don't think Cherubimon would have made it so easy sugar," Ranamon added.
"Hey!" Beetlemon moaned, "You could have told us sooner!".
"Grumblemon try to!".
"Tis matter not," Mercurymon explained, ignoring the bug and troll's bickering, "For thy fair maiden has been forever sealed since we had'ith transported the great angel here,".
"Grr, no remind her Flatface!" Grumblemon grumbled.
"Yeah, sorry about doing dat Ophanimon," Arbormon said, feeling awkward, "We's weren't all that, eh, good at the time, right,".
"Thank you children and the former warriors of Cherubimon, and know that I bare no ill feelings towards you," The angel explained, much to the relief of the four Digimon "But you must not waste your powers on me,".
"But why?" Agunimon asked.
"Because there is greater purpose for your being here," Ophanimon spoke, "But before you put yourselves into any more danger, you must know why all of you were called to this world,".
Yeah now she tells the backstory of the digital world, that's been covered before in early episodes. So I don't need to recap-, wait. I didn't include any of those episodes in this story!? Oh dang it! Well guess this last bit will be bit of an exposition chapter?
"Ages ago, there was a terrible war," Ophanimon began, "A fierce battle raged between the humanoid and beast type Digimon, then Lucemon appeared and stopped the fighting, bringing peace to this world,".
As she spoke, a flashback showed the two types of Digimon shooting at each other. Then an angelic light descended from the sky, his form hiding by the radiance that covered him. However, this light soon glowed too bright for the other Digimon to stand.
"But soon after, Lucemon grew mad with power, tormenting and oppression all Digimon," As she explained, a circle of 10 silhouettes of ancient Digimon appeared in a circle, "It was then that the 10 legendary warriors, rose up carrying the light of truth and light in their hearts,".
The silhouettes of the heroes then clashed with the 8-winged glowing silhouette of the corrupted angel. Eventually the white light was sent into the ground below.
"Oh how bravely they fought Lucemon and the evil of his injustice and after finally defeating him, the 10 warriors disappeared," Ophanimon explained, "Cherubimon, Seraphimon and I worked together to bring peace and harmony to the digital world once more,".
As she spoke this, the three silhouettes of the three angelical Digimon circled each other, eminenting with the color that best fit them.
"Hey, that's the exact same story Seraphimon told us," Neemon pointed out.
"Be quiet!" Bokomon shouted, before snapping Neemon's pants.
"Me no remember that?" Grumblemon said.
"I's think dat was right before we barged in and, you know, Mercurymon did him in," Arbormon explained.
"Thou need'ith not remined thy," Mercurymon groaned.
"Especially not in front of the angel lady sugar," Ranamon added.
"I said be quiet!" Bokomon shouted again, though not daring to assault the former villains.
"But it wouldn't last," Ophanimon sighed, before continuing the story, "Seraphimon upheld our world's system of law and order, Cherubimon protected all our knowledge and legends, and I fostered the appreciation of all life and love, and yet it soon became obvious that Cherubimon's ideas and philosophies were quite different from ours,".
Flashback scene,
Inside the crystal castle of Seraphimon, the three angels sat at a round table. This was before Cherubimon was corrupted and his colors were a bright whitish pink and yellow, as well looking much friendlier and cuddly. Though his voice was still rather deep and menacing.
"To honor these simplicities is absurd!" Cherubimon argued, slamming his fist on the table "Beast Digimon need things to be wild, their needs our different!" he argued, "But you humanoid type Digimon can't understand this!".
The angelic rabbit then teleported away in frustration. The two humanoid angels looked at each other, unsure how to deal with the comrade's plight.
Later, on the balcony of Seraphimon's castle,
The two angels had walked outside and begun to talk.
"Seraphimon and I thought that we should meet alone to try and find a way to reconcile our views with those of Cherubimon," Ophanimon explained, "But when Cherubimon found us talking together, he misunderstood our intentions,".
As she said this, the angelic rabbit Digimon appeared sitting on a tree branch high above the two angels. His face filled with sadness and anger as worries of betrayal entered his mind, causing him to think the worst of his comrades.
"He thought we were trying to undermine him and subvert the beliefs he held,".
Then at Cherubimon's castle,
Thunder boomed as the beast angle vented his anger.
"Seraphimon and his laws are only for the human type Digimon," Cherubimon growled, "It's up to me to give the beast types a new system of order,".
As the anger polluted his mind, dark tendrils arose from the abyss surrounding his castle. They then covered Cherubimon in its influence, polluting his mind with sinful and evil thoughts, as if the source of all evil was feeding it into his heart.
Later at Seraphimon's castle,
"Our world exploded, we were treated like traitors by Cherubimon's followers," Ophanimon explained, "He had convinced the beast types that we were the cause of all their problems,".
The great angel's servant Sorcermon had burst into the main room to warn the two holy Digimon of the impending threat approaching.
They soon exited to the balcony to see a huge army of beast type Digimon approaching. Led by the now corrupted angel Digimon.
"Cherubimon led them in an aggressive campaign against the human type Digimon," Ophanimon explained.
I mean, it couldn't have been that ba-, HOLY COW HE'S GOT A MACHINEDRAMON!
"He had become a monster, steeped in evil," she explained sorrowfully.
It was not long until Seraphimon's force charged to confront the army of beasts. But Cherubimon struck back with the power of his red lighting. The Digimon screamed in pain, while the corrupted rabbit floated over to the angel Digimon.
"Seraphimon!" Cherubimon shouted, "From now on, I am the law of this world and you!" he then summoned a bolt of red lighting, "Are nothing!" he then threw the bolt at the holy Digimon.
The bolt struck down Seraphimon, much to the horror of Ophanimon. The angel then fell to the ground, his body smoking from the damage.
Thankfully Ophanimon was able to catch him, but he had lost consciousness.
"Seraphimon no!" she cried, before gasping as the corrupted rabbit arose, "I will do whatever you ask of me, but I beg you please spare his life!".
End of flashback,
"Ever since that moment, I have been imprisoned in this castle waiting for Seraphimon to awaken," Ophanimon explained.
The warriors were left in awe at this tale, the humans recalling their encounter with Seraphimon. Back then the children had freed the Mega Digimon from his imprisonment in crystal. However, afterwards Seraphimon had tried to get them to leave the Digital world, saying that they had completed their task and were no longer needed. While this had upset the kids, the angel didn't last long once he was hit by his own attack when the evil warriors attacked.
Speaking of which, the former villains however, gulped with guilt since their encounter with the angel had not been so noble and had led to his demise. Back then they took such pleasure in besting the great angel, Mercurymon in particular viewing it as his greatest victory. But now they realized what a mistake that was. Though they were good now and had been forgiven by their human friends, it still stung a bit to have caused so much pain and suffering.
"I wish everybody would just play nice," Patamon sighed.
"I wonder if all this happened because Cherubimon liked Ophanimon?" Kazemon wondered.
"No way!" Beetlemon rebuttled, seeming a little offended for some reason.
"I don't know, he did keep her locked in his castle and in a special room at that, sugar," Ranamon pointed out, "If that doesn't mean deep feelings then I don't know what does?".
"When he gained power, Cherubimon possessed five of the 10 legendary warrior spirits," Ophanimon explained, "He then took four of these spirits and created his own group of evil warriors, that being you four,".
The four Digimon winced at this.
"Then, he commanded Digimon all over our world to begin collecting the digital world's data," she explained.
"Tis sadly true, for we and thy other followers were most ruthless as we carried out thy creator's edict," Mercurymon said, "Creating chaos for thy beautiful planet and turmoil for thou inhabitants,".
"But we didn't know any better," Ranamon pleaded, feeling guilty, "We were just doing what Cherubimon told us to do sugar,".
"Yeah dat don't make it any better, right," Arbormon pointed out.
Grumblemon just groaned as he crossed his arms. After all he had done a ton of damage, such as being responsible for Whamon getting trapped in that cave. So he figured best to keep quiet.
"At the rate they were pillaging our world, I knew it would soon be destroyed," Ophanimon explained, "With the survival of our world in the balance, I desperately called out to another world in which Cherubimon had no power,".
This referred to when the human children were all called on their phones to the subway that led to the digital world.
"Only those children who were pure of heart answered my call," She explained, "Your positive response encouraged me, but your level of commitment has astounded me, as well the redemption you have brought to Cherubimon's warriors,".
This perked up the former evil warriors a good bit, feeling glad to know their past was not all bad, as well as making the heroes that redeemed them feel rather proud.
"Thankfully, I had been told by Seraphimon where the other five spirits of the legendary warriors were hidden," As she spoke, the kids thought back to when they had each gained their spirits and become Digimon for the first time, "Without Cherubimon knowing, I led you to them and you found them all, then Cherubimon planted the remaining spirit that he held, the spirit of darkness, into Koichi, who wandered into our world,".
This brought bad memories to the now purified warrior of darkness.
"But you were strong and turned away from the darkness," Ophanimon encouraged, before speaking to the former evil warriors, "And you four have repented from Cherubimon's evil with the help of these noble children and have now helped protect the world you were once meant to destroy,".
"Grumblemon was first to change to good!" the earth warrior proudly said, "And Grumblemon glad he did, feel way better to be good with new friends,"
"You don't need to rub it in sugar," Ranamon groaned, sounding jealous.
"Eh, had to start somewhere, right," Arbormon pointed out.
"Your strength and courage triumphed over the many ordeals you have faced," Ophanimon said, "Now you face the truly daunting task of defeating Cherubimon, but you possess the power of the spirits of all 10 legendary warriors, you are our greatest hope to conquer his evil,".
"But, he created us," Ranamon spoke, "I know where all good now, but how can we face him?".
"Ranamon," Kazemon sighed, feeling bad for the water warrior.
"However, tragic as it may be, I doubt'ith are creator harbors the same doubts," Mercurymon stated, "For his rage at my misguided attempts at power was'ith greater than I haf ever thought to be,".
"It's worse than you think," Lowemon spoke, "I saw his power up close and it's even stronger than the corrupted spirits of darkness,".
"How we going face him," Grumblemon moaned, panicking a little, "Even fake Cherubimon was too tough for Grumblemon,".
"Well, it's not like it's going to be a picnic for us either," Lobomon pointed out.
"But we're all in this together," Agunimon encouraged, "So it's all our burden to bear,".
"Well I suppose dat makes it a little better, right?" Arbormon asked.
"Right," Kumamon encouraged.
"Where all here for each other," Beetlemon encouraged, "So don't think we're going to let that bad bunny beat us,".
"Me like how Beetlemon think!" Grumblemon said as he pounded his fists.
"It will be a daunting task," Ophanimon said, "But you must overcome it to save our world,".
"You are a fool, Ophanimon," A dark voice spoke, making everyone in the room flinch, especially the former evil warriors.
"It's Cherubimon!" Oryxmon warned.
The warriors then got in a battle stance, preparing for the worst. While Neemon just grabbed onto Bokomon in fear.
"I hear him, but where is he?" Kazemon asked.
"I'm not sure I want to know sugar," Ranamon moaned.
"Haven't you wondered why I would allow the human children, as well as those traitors, to come here, without destroying them?" Cherubimon's voice asked as it echoed through the room, "Surely I had the strength to do it?".
"What are you saying?" Ophanimon asked fearfully.
"The spirits of the 10 legendary warriors are gathered here and within my grasp," Cherubimon explained, "When I combine them with the data I've collected, total control of the digital world will at last be mine, and it's all thanks to you, my lady!".
Then in front of the heroes, the corrupted angel himself appeared, his large body looming over them.
"You and these fools have brought my plan to fruition," Cherubimon explained, with a creepy grin "Let's end it!".
Meanwhile, lower in the castle,
In a room that held 10 pedestals, lights that showed the symbols of each of the ten elements glowed.
Back at Opanimon's prison,
Then the symbols on each of the 10 warriors began to glow.
"My spirit!" Agunimon said, as he looked down.
"It's starting to glow?" Kumamon said as he gazed at his belly.
"What's going on?" Beetlemon asked, as he looked at his back.
"Bokomon what's happening?" Kazemon asked as she held up her gauntlets.
The two smaller Digimon just screamed, unsure how to feel.
"What happening?" Grumblemon asked as he looked down at his symbol.
"I's don't knows, but it sure ain't pleasant, right?" Arbormon said as multiple parts of his body glowed.
"Don't you know anything about this Mercurymon!?" Ranamon asked as she looked up at the gem in her headgear that was glowing.
"Forgive me m'lady, tis beyond my knowledge!" Mercurymon said as the inside of his mirror glowed.
"The spirits!" Oryxmon said.
"Cherubimon, no!" Lowemon said, while his symbol glowed.
"Finally, it has all come to this shining moment when my evil will reign supreme!" Cherubimon shouted.
Narrator Rika: Oh man this is serious! If Cherubimon gets those spirits, the digital world is done for! You have got to be here for the next Digimon Frontier!
Purification Redemption
Scutlemon: And that will do it for this chapter!.
Treblemon: Hooray!
Corlamon: Sorry this took so long, and got a bit cut off at the end a little. Our boss has been really busy lately so this was the most he could get done.
Scutlemon: That's also why we're going to be doing the wrap up. Ben's got to save his energy for next chapter and make sure the final phase is complete.
Treblemon: Yep. Imagine if he didn't have enough energy and messed things up? That be bad right?.
Scutlemon: Try not to jinx it bro.
Corlamon: Anyways, thank you all so much for waiting. We know it's taking awhile to get things uploaded, but that's just because Ben wants to make sure this part of the story is as good as possible.
Treblemon: Plus final battles take a long time to write. So he's trying to get everything written down at once so you won't have to wait too long, arf.
Scutlemon: Not to mention, boss has been a bit burnt out lately as well as busy trying to make a video game. But I think he's starting to feel better so hopefully we'll be able to get this final battle done soon.
Corlamon: I think he was a bit nervous about put this out chapter out before the next one was finished. But Ben really wanted to give you all something to read until then. So we hope you all enjoyed the prolog of the battle with Cherubimon(Evil).
Treblemon: While's he's working, why don't bring up the reviews!.
Corlamon: Okay, let me see. Special thanks too: pokemonking0924, D.J. Scales, Drawman98, The Keeper of Worlds, Lei LeiDigital cyber sleuth, Charmander17, and lot of guest(one of which is called RaiRai), for all your wonderful reviews.
Treblemon: Wait you missed some?
Corlamon: Oh yeah, as well as DragonBladeB5 and Masknyan.
Scutlemon: About that, we need to have a quick talk DragonBladeB5. Listen we do apricate your reviews and attention, but some of them haven't really been reviews.
Corlamon: Please don't get mad. But if your going to leave a review, please make sure it's actually about the story or Digimon and not just talking about unrelated stuff.
Treblemon: Also you've left a lot of reviews, which is nice. But can you try not to overshadow the other reviews, please?
Scutlemon: Please try to remember that in the future, please.
Corlamon: Regarding when the next chapter will be, Ben is working hard on it, as well as on many other things, so please be patient.
Scutlemon: There should be a chapter out each month before the end of the last Friday, so the next one of this, the recent Megaman story, or maybe a new story should be up by then.
Treblemon: So look forward to those in the future and thanks again for all your reviews and love for this story, arf!.
Corlamon: Like our boss would say "Remeber reviews lead to sooner chapters and better quality stories!", or something like that.
Scutlemon: Until next time,
All:Bye!
