No Such Luck...or Destiny's Deceit?

Ch 4: Family Tensions Escalate

Today was Monday, the one day that everyone wants to loathe and despise. The one day that meant the start of a crappy fucked-up week at school and work. For Lincoln, it will be entirely different given what he's going through right now. Irritated, he got up from his bed, headed to the bathroom to attend to his personal hygiene, and went downstairs to eat breakfast, he was annoyed that 'she' was at the table.

"Where's your suit, Lincoln?" Asked Lynn Jr.

"Shut your yap and eat your breakfast, Junior." Lynn Sr. said, annoyed.

The sporty Loud kept on eating her breakfast, the 11-year-old Loud joined his family at the table and got ready on the way to school.

The father of the Loud family started up the van, but to no avail. Exasperated, he does it again, and it works. They sped off on the way to school.

At school…

Lincoln was picking out the books he needed for class, when he heard three pairs of feet coming up to him. Rolling his eyes, he did his best to ignore it, as he knew it was just Chandler and his friends taking a laughing fit from his costume.

"Linky? Is that you in there?" Asked a voice that sounded familiar.

"Elizabeth? How did you know that it was me in the costume?" Lincoln asked.

"Well, this is your locker, right?" Michael asked, pointing at Lincoln's locker.

"Why are you still wearing that thing?" Stephanie asked Lincoln.

"Well, my sister Lola had a fucking test she didn't even study for last night. She told me to keep this suit on for 'good luck', and she thinks that it will be a win-win for her." The 11-year-old Loud narrated.

"Take it off, I don't want to see you in that garbage." The teenage girl ordered the boy, irritated at the sight of the squirrel suit.

He took off the suit and put it aside in his locker. "What if Lola gets mad?" Lincoln asked.

"Relax, who gives a shit about that costume anyways?" Stephanie said, as she put a hand on her waist.

"LINCOLN!" A familiar voice yelled down the halls. "DID YOU KEEP YOUR SUIT ON AT THIS TIME?! YOU'RE GOING TO BE SO SCREWED!"

"Well, shit." Lincoln said.

"Don't worry, I can handle this…" Michael said, as Lola slowly approached Lincoln.

"Did you keep your suit on at this point?"

"Yeah." The 11-year-old Loud deadpanned. "I did since this morning."

"THEN WHY DID I GET AN 'F' ON MY TEST?! HOW AM I GOING TO BE PERFECT IF YOU AREN'T KEEPING THE END OF THE BARGAIN?!" Lola felt that she was hoisted up by her collar, and she was staring at the face of an enraged teenager.

"Wasn't Lincoln supposed to help you do your studies?"

Lola chuckled. "Heh heh…no?"

"Good, because no amount of luck would have helped you nevertheless!" Michael dropped Lola on her fanny. "Go say sorry to your brother…"

"I'm sorry, Lincoln…" Lola whispered as she ran off to her classroom.

"Wow, Mike…" Lincoln said. "…don't you think you're going the extra mile?"

"Nah, that brat deserved it anyways…"

The bell rang, signaling that it was time for class.

Michael breathed in air through his teeth. "Dang it…class…"

They all went to their respective classes. The pains of school had started as students were in their classrooms listening to their teacher explain the basics of each subject, they all groaned in annoyance as they were going to study the series of operations in mathematics, also known as PEMDAS or PMDAS.

As much as they hate studying mathematics, they just have to endure studying the boring subject their entire life.

Lunchtime…

Everyone was laughing at Lincoln as he passed by.

"Look! It's the squirrel boy!" One kid said.

"Hey, Lincoln Lame, I guess your luck would be pretty useful to me." Chandler said.

"What did you say?" Lincoln stopped in his tracks.

"I said that your good luck is pretty useful to me, might as well use it for yourself!" Chandler said as he pushed Lincoln.

"Oh, so you want to pick a fight, huh?" The 11-year-old Loud cracked his knuckles.

"Sure thing, Lincoln the Loser." The redhead said, as he and the 11-year-old Loud began fighting with each other.

The classmates were exclaiming and cheering at the sight, Michael and his friends were in the scenery. Later, Principal Jones with a few teachers came into the scene.

"Lincoln Loud and Chandler McCann, stop fighting now!" The principal shouted.

This put an end to Lincoln and Chandler's scuffle.

"What the hell is this fighting all about?" Asked the school principal.

"Chandler started it!" Lincoln pointed at Chandler. "He mocked me for my so-called luck and pushed me down!"

"That's it! Enough! You two, to my office, NOW!" Theodore ordered the two kids.

Annoyed, the duo went to the principal's office along with the principal.

At the principal's office…

Lincoln and Chandler took their respective seats, in front of Principal Jones.

"What the hell caused the fight between you two?"

"I'll explain, Mr. Jones, I was walking past my so-called 'classmates' who were laughing their asses off and calling me a 'squirrel boy', then Chandler mocked me of my 'luck' and pushed me down, then he called me a loser. You wanna know why everyone was mocking me? My damn sister blamed me for losing her stupid game, and my 'family' kicked me out of my room, then they forced me to sleep outside because of my bad luck, I just wanted some me-time, and this is what I get? I tried to convince my 'family' I'm not bad luck by wearing the costume at Lynn's softball game, then they saw me as good luck in that thing?" Lincoln retorted with anger.

"Did you start the fight?" Principal Jones said as he turned his swivel chair to meet Chandler's gaze.

"No, Lincoln was lying, he started the fi—" Chandler was interrupted.

"Tell me the truth, Chandler, or you will get detention for the rest of the day. I hate liars." Principal Jones said.

"Fine, I started it, I mocked Lincoln for his so-called luck and picked a fight with him."

"I'm going to call your respective parents…" Theodore said as he dialed Lincoln's parents first.

With Lynn Sr…

He was busy doing work on his computer, when his phone rang.

"Hello, this is Lynn Loud Sr. speaking, who is this?" He asked.

"This is Principal Jones from Royal Woods Multi-Grade School, and I would like to tell you that your son got into a fight with another student."

"He did? With whom?" Lynn Sr. asked.

"He got into a fight with Chandler McCann because he was mocking him for his luck and called him a loser. I also called Mr. McCann's parents as well."

"OK, I'll pick him up…"

Later…

Lynn Sr. arrived at Royal Woods Multi-Grade School to pick up Lincoln. Going to the principal's office, he saw his son waiting outside for him sitting on the chair.

"Son?" Lynn Sr. called out.

"What is it, Dad?" Lincoln spoke to his father through gritted teeth.

"Your principal told me you got into a fight with another student, is it true?" Lynn Sr. asked.

"It is, but anyway, let's get in the car and head home." Lincoln replied, hot air coming out of his nose every time he breathed. He stomped outside and into the car.

In the van…

Lincoln slammed the car door shut as he sat in the seat close to his father.

Lynn Sr. opened the car door, and closed it as he started up the van to head home.

30 minutes into the trip, Lynn Sr. decided to talk with his son.

"Hey? Son?"

"Yeah?"

"Did everyone mock you at school?"

"Yes, even my whole classmates (leaving Ronalda, Cassidy, and Clyde), Chandler mocked me for my 'luck' and pushed me down. He then called me a loser and we started fighting."

Lynn Sr. then showed some of his razor-sharp teeth. "That little brat had to tease you for your luck, isn't he?"

"Yeah you're right, Dad…" Lincoln said.

"Your sister had to blame you for losing her game, you're not even that proficient in sports, right?"

The 11-year-old Loud nodded in response.

To be continued in Ch 5…

A/N: Hey, I know you all would be anticipated for the release of chapter four and here it is, but I just wanted to inform you dear readers that chapter 5 will be a two-parter, so I'm going to split it into two chapters. This is Chandler McCann's first appearance, and the Afton family besides Michael and Elizabeth has no dialogue in this story. I enjoyed writing this chapter, from Michael, Stephanie, and Elizabeth asking Lincoln about the suit, to the scuffle at the very end. That's all I will have to tell you for today, and I'll see you next chapter.
