It had been a slow realisation. It had crept up on him with such stealthiness, that he hadn't noticed it until it was undeniable. He loved her.

She didn't think twice before she ordered for the plane to be prepared. She didn't have a choice; it was Hotch.

Emily can't sleep. Derek decides to help with that.

He suddenly realised that it was absolutely ridiculous that they'd shared their bodies with each other countless times, and yet, he'd never actually spent the whole night with her. He'd never woken up to her beautiful face before.

When she came home, it was with the knowledge that she was where she belonged.

"Don't go, Emily," he murmured. Holding her tightly so that she couldn't move away again, he continued, "Don't run, just listen."

At that moment, his life is perfect. And yet… he knows that, with her by his side, it can only get better from here.

She left, looking for a cure for heartbreak. Can she find that cure right back where her heart was broken in the first place?
