A/N - Given this is set 50 years in the future (in the OG, this would've been sometime in the 22nd century, so sometime between the year 2100 and 2200), I've assumed Detroit has expanded by several dozens of miles, consuming the towns that surround it in the present day that are actually on the edge of Lake Erie. Given how the show treats it, it's a likely canonical assumption. The Sumdac Factory where this occurs is somewhere where the town of Monroe is today. In the show they do reference it, indicating that the city became a district of Detroit. Nice world building by the creators.
Kudos to anyone who can guess the cameos!
Also, Cyberpunk is my own creation. I was always confused as to why they never had a baddie who was a cyborg. I mean in a future where robots and AI are prevalent, you'd think there'd be cyborg villains? (Angry Archer doesn't count: he only wears a prosthetic arm).
Oh, I meant to give a reason why Optimus is not present on the Orion. But transferring the previous chapter over ended up messing that up. So, I'll explain it here with a simple fact: he never got into Autoboot Camp. Whether or not he'll make a cameo down the line, remains to be seen. But I welcome the theories!
There may or may not be references to other transformers series in this story!
As for my other fanfic series, I'm still working on it. I've just hit writer's block on it until I get this out of my system. Bloody plot bunnies…
Anyways, onto the chapter!
Disclaimer: I don't own Transformers, only my OC and parts of the plot (i.e. what's not in the canon). No stealy.
"Attention!"
Four of five young Autobots saluted an old green mech, who regarded them with hard blue optics. "My designation is Kup Minor. From this cycle until graduation, you lot will be under my command! I expect you all to give Autoboot Camp everything in your circuits! Is that understood?!"
"Sir yes sir!" The same four out of the five bots shouted.
Kup frowned, focusing on the white, blue and gold femmeling; the only one who had remained silent. "And why are you not addressing your commander protoform?" He asked, pulling his cy-gar from his intake.
The yellow and purple femmeling beside her nudged the other with her pede, but the femmeling ignored her. Instead, she stared the Minor dead in the optics. "Because I don't want to be here, sir." She answered flatly.
The yellow and purple femme smacked her faceplate with her servo as the three young mechs stared with wide optics.
"Then why are you here, soldier?" Kup asked, crossing his arms over his scarred chassis.
"Because I was conscripted." The young femme answered, scowling. "Sir."
The Minor raised an optic ridge. "And why were you conscripted, soldier?"
The yellow and purple femmeling sent a pleading look to her white and blue friend but was again ignored. "Because the ones who evaluated me were glitched, sir." Was the flat answer.
The three mechlings just gaped as the other femmeling smacked her faceplate again, while the Minor and femmeling stared each other down.
Then, Kup cracked a grin. "I like you kid." He said, resting a servo on her shoulder plate. "Honest and blunt, willing to speak the truth." He chuckled. "Just survive boot camp and I'll help you see what your options are after graduation."
The white, blue and gold femme rebooted her optics, before she smiled. "Thank you, sir." She saluted.
"Alright then!" Kup straightened up, looking the young bots over. "Today we are going to go over each of your special talents or mods and figure out your designation. Until then, what is your serial number?" He looked at the mech on the right servo end of the line. "Soldier?"
The big chinned blue and orange mech saluted. "P-325!"
Kup nodded, then looked at the next mech. He was slim, silver and gray with doorwings on his back. "My serial number is P-309 sir! I am so honoured to be here and-!"
The drill sergeant smacked a servo over the bot's intake. "I don't need the run-on kid!" He chastised, getting a meek nod in return. Turning, he then looked at the third mech. "Soldier?"
The white mech with red and blue racing stripes, also sporting doorwing kibble, saluted. "P-356 sir!"
The Minor grunted, nodding his helm, before turning to the yellow and purple femmeling. He raised an optic ridge seeing her having a stare down with the other femmeling. His engine coughed, getting both young femmes' attention.
The two saluted. "P-321 sir!" The yellow and purple femme stated.
The white, gold, and blue femme copied her friend. "P-306 sir!"
Kup nodded, stepping back and facing the recruits. He put his cy-gar back in his intake. "Alright! Now I wanna see you all give me twenty transform-ups! On the double!"
"Sir yes sir!"
"Soldier! Let's see what you can do!" Kup ordered, the Minor and his squad of cadets now standing in a training field. He was currently ordering P-356 to try and demonstrate his abilities, if he was aware of them.
The young mostly white doorwinged mech threw both his arms out, vents on the sides suddenly spewing smoke. Unfortunately, he didn't have much control, leaving his squad mates coughing.
"That's enough!" Kup ordered, engine coughing from the fumes. The mechling did as ordered, doorwings slumping a little. "S-Sorry sir."
The Minor waved a servo. "That's alright. That's what training is for."
The mechling perked up, before saluting. "Sir!"
Kup chuckled around his cy-gar, watching the young bot fall back into formation. "Alright, next!"
P-325 stepped forwards, smirking. "Watch this, sir." With that he held out one arm, and a large energy shield formed. "I can create an impenetrable energy shield!"
The Minor scrutinized the shield, before nodding. "Good for guarding, though you'll need a matching weapon."
"Sir!" The mechling snapped off a salute, returning to formation.
Kup didn't even get a chance to speak before P-309 ran out, excited. "Look sir look what I can do-!"
He tripped over his own pedes, skidding across the metal ground.
The other cadets winced, P-356 smacking his faceplate with a servo. Kup just shook his helm, taking a puff of his cy-gar. "And this, young'uns, is why you follow orders and stay in formation until your commander orders otherwise." The old Minor then walked over to the mechling, who was picking himself up slowly. "So, soldier, what do you have to say for yourself?"
P-309 kept his optics down, subdued, doorwings slumped. "S-Sorry sir…"
Kup ex-vented, taking out his cy-gar. "So, cadet, tell me; what is your special talent?"
The grey and silver mechling looked up at his superior. "Well sir, I have excellent aim, and I can run pretty fast. Not super fast as some bots but still pretty fast not to mention I-"
A green servo was clapped over the mechling's intake. "Well young'un, I hope you can prove yourself in Autoboot Camp."
P-309 grinned and saluted, before running back to stand next to his fellow doorwinger. P-356 lightly cuffed him upside the helm, which soon dissolved into a mini slap fight between them.
It was quickly stopped when their sergeant's engine coughed pointedly, and the two mechlings stood at attention. P-325 scoffed.
Kup ex-vented, turning his attention to the two femmelings. "Alright, which of you young'uns wants to go first?"
Override winced as she slowly came online, the fog of stasis leaving her somewhat dazed. As her CPU rebooted, her audios picked up the blaring of the ship's alarm. Then they picked up voices.
"Would somebot please shut that off?!"
"I'm trying Ratch! But Teletran isn't responding!"
"I'll give you something to not respond to you oversized-!"
"Stop! She's waking up!"
Override forced her optics to online, making out the blurry black and gold form over her. "…Prowl…?"
The cyberninja vented in relief. "How are you feeling?"
The femme slowly sat up with his help, resetting her optics as she realized she had been laying on the floor. "What happened?"
Pedesteps stomped over, and Ratchet kneeled next to Prowl. "You collapsed when your stasis pod opened." He stated with a grumble, scanning her chassis. "You were more damaged from the fight than the pod could handle."
Override reset her optics again, before they widened as her memory came back. "The ship-!"
"Landed on the bottom of a liquid body." Ratchet answered, making her stay sitting. "Now hold still. I did manage to do most of your repairs while you were out." The medibot then turned towards the console. "Though it would have been easier if somebot could have shut off the alarm!"
"I said I'm trying!" Wheeljack's exasperated voice snapped back. "What part of 'Teletran won't respond' do you not compute?!"
The medibot scowled. "The part where I put my wrench into your helm!"
As the two began bickering, Override started to get up, waving off Prowl as the ninja hovered by her. "Where are Bumblebee and Bulkhead?" She asked, not seeing the two younger bots anywhere.
"Checking the cargo hold." The ninjabot answered, looking the taller Autobot over worriedly. "You should be resting."
The femme snorted. "I've been resting for however long we've been in stasis." She countered, before looking up hearing a loud clang and a yelp.
Ratchet was waving a wrench around at Wheeljack, who was nursing his now dented helm. Even still, the inventor shot off a few choice remarks, which served to only further irritate the red and white medic.
Shaking her helm, Override made her way over to the nearest console, setting the flats of her servos against it. Data scrolled across her optics and the holo-screen, before the alarm finally shut off.
This, of course, garnered the medibot's ire. "I thought I told you to stay put!" He snapped, stomping over to the femme.
Override just gave him a small smile. "I'm fine Ratchet. Really."
"I'll be the judge of that…" the red and white bot muttered, scanning her and going over the results. He scowled, before pulling out a green cube. "Drink."
The Prime ex-vented, but took the cube and sipped the contents.
Wheeljack shuddered. "How can you drink that stuff?" He made a face. "Med-grade tastes awful!"
Override ex-vented, setting the half-finished cube down. "It's an acquired taste." She admitted. "And it's either that or being confined to the med-bay."
Ratchet smirked. "At least one young bot has their processor straight, unlike others." He gave mech with oversized helm fins a look.
"Hey! I resent that remark!"
"You turned your fraggin' arm into a rocket!"
The white, blue, and gold femme shook her helm as the two old friends went at it again, picking up the cube and sipping it again. It certainly wasn't pleasant, but it got Ratchet off her back and that's what mattered. Of course, when the medibot wasn't looking she made a face. Bitter!
"Cargo's all good!" Bumblebee reported as he walked in a breem later, Bulkhead behind him. "We lost a few crates but the Allspark's still there." The young minibot grinned. "Bulky and I did an inventory check and what we lost were empty crates."
Override nodded in response, finished her cube, then turned to the console behind her. "Now I want to know what in the Allspark set off that alarm." She typed in a few commands. "Since Teletran won't tell me, let's see what our optic in the sky has to say."
Outside the Orion, bubbles burst out into the surroundings as a small hatch opened. A small satellite-like drone shot out, heading for the surface.
Everyone gathered around as Override guided the drone, watching the feed with wide optics. Soon the drone broke the surface and rose up, cameras sweeping the area.
"Look." Prowl pointed to one view. "Zoom in there."
The camera feed the ninja bot pointed to zoomed in. What the Autobots saw made their intakes drop open in shock.
"Everyone back! Behind the barricade!" Chief Fanzone shouted through his bullhorn.
The streets around the factory by the wharf had fallen into chaos as robots rioted under the control of the C.A.P. unit. Inside the machine, Cyberpunk cackled in glee. "Run! Run! You are helpless before me now!"
Under her control, a police drone picked up a police van, throwing it into a building. People fled, screaming in terror as concrete and glass debris rained down. "I control this city now!"
"Form a one-mile perimeter around that thing!" Fanzone shouted into his radio. "And get all drones out of its radius! We don't need to give her anything else!"
One of the controlled police drones rolled towards the barricade, lifting its arms. The hands retracted.
The Captain's eyes widened. "EVERYBODY DOWN!" He shouted, dropping just as bullets started spraying everywhere.
Sumdac watched from a distance, having fled with the crowd. "Oh, this is all my fault!" He lamented. "I should've known it would've been a tempting target. Oh, Sari what should I-?" He stopped, looking around him. Panic constricted his heart as he realized his daughter wasn't with him. "Sari?! SARI!"
Some distance away, the young teenager was climbing over some rubble. "Sparkplug?! Dad?! Where are you?!" Sari flinched as an explosion went off in the distance. "Oh, I hope you're okay…"
"It seems that that robot is controlling the others." Prowl deducted, pointing to the large, stocky form on the screen.
"The scans the sky-drone's giving confirms that." Wheeljack said, looking at the readout in front of him. "It's transmitting some sort of control signal." He typed away on the keypad. "That signal activated Teletran and attempted to hack in."
"At least the signal isn't effective against cybertronian technology." Ratchet huffed. "I'd rather not have Teletran turned against us."
"It may not be affecting us, but it's affecting them." Override pointed to the small forms fleeing from the controlled robots. "It's directing attacks against the natives."
"What do we do boss bot?" Bumblebee asked, lightly dancing on his pedes. "Go out and kick some tail pipes?"
"I'd rather not!" Ratchet scowled. "This is an organic world. Allspark knows what kind of bacteriums are lurking out there, ready to dissolve our metals."
The minibot squeaked, diving behind his oversized green friend. "I don't want my plating melted!"
Override didn't even look away from the screen as she reached over and smacked Ratchet upside the helm. "Firstly, that's just a load of xenophobic slag. Secondly," the femme ignored the startled looks shot her way, "I've tapped into this planet's datanet. From what I've read, the dominant species are called 'humans'," the organic glyph felt weird on her glossa, "and they are actually quite similar to cybertronians." She pulled up a generic picture of a human femme and a human mech, both wearing strange cloth coverings. "Outside of being organic, unable to transform, and Minicon sized, they are quite similar."
Ratchet scowled while Prowl looked at the image intrigued. "The similarities are quite striking…" the cyberninja murmured.
"From what I can gather from the local news, that robot attacking them out there was taken over by a 'supervillain' by the name of 'Cyberpunk'," Override continued, pulling up the mugshot of said villain. "Apparently, she's integrated herself with cybernetics to become a 'cyborg' and uses it to try and create chaos."
"Like a Decepticon?" Bulkhead asked, Bumblebee poking his helm around the larger's side.
"Like a Decepticon." The Prime confirmed. "Here, I'm transferring a data packet I compiled of the local language so we can communicate with them."
Each of the Autobots received and downloaded the package.
"Well, this is… strange." Wheeljack commented in the new language. "It's so… organic."
Ratchet smacked him upside the helm, grumbling about stating the obvious.
"So now are we going to head out and kick can?" Bumblebee asked his leader, excited again.
"Not yet." The minibot deflated. "From what I'm reading humans are a rather skittish and wary species. They have a lot of fictional vids on alien invasions." Override shook her helm, continuing to scroll through the human datanet - or 'internet' as they called it. "They've never had any confirmed documentation of encountering species from beyond their planet." She kept to herself the worried thought that they were in an uncharted sector of the galaxy; or worse, in a different one entirely. They could worry about that later.
Prowl crossed his arms, raising an optic-ridge behind his visor. "So how do we help them if we could scare them?" He asked, curious.
"By taking on the forms of vehicles native to the planet." Override answered, typing at the holokeypad. "I'm directing the sky-drone to scan appropriate vehiclular forms based on our frame types. Especially since we don't know how long we'll be marooned here."
"Smart thinking Prime." Ratchet hated to admit. "As much as I don't wanna go out there, you're right. We're stuck here for the foreseeable future." He turned to the others, barking out, "You heard her! Everyone to the CR chamber to get your new alt modes!"
The other bots scrambled to the chamber, while Override directed the sky-drone to scan for appropriate vehicle modes. She did keep one optic on the chaos unfolding through the local media, worried. Am I making the right choice? Or will… I can't lose anyone else…
At least the arachnids on this planet were bolt-sized or smaller.
"Wow boss-bot!" Bumblebee grinned as his captain stepped out of the CR Chamber, her armour reformatted to her new vehicle mode. "Looking good!"
"Gotta says, you've picked appropriate forms for us." Ratchet said, looking at the human emergency service sigils on his shoulder armour.
Override just shrugged, casually examining her legs and the strange rubber wheels sitting on her calves. "I just tried to look for vehicle forms similar to our original ones that would also fit our frames." She said, before straightening. "Alright, gameplan time. Wheeljack, I need you to stay here and monitor the situation with the sky-drone."
"What?" The inventor stared at her, shocked. "Why do I get to stay here?"
The Captain of the Orion crossed her arms. "Consider this punishment for what happened with the space bridge and your invention." Ignoring his groan of "Slaggit…" she turned to the others. "Prowl, you and Ratchet will help evacuate the humans. Get any injured to safety and if possible, coordinate with the local enforcers and medics. Bulkhead, Bumblebee, you two will go after the controlled drones. Protect as many humans as you can. Get them to safety with Ratchet if you have to but try to keep them away from humans."
Everyone nodded, while the ninja tilted his helm. "And what about you Prime?"
The femme cracked her knuckle plates. "I'll see about overriding that villain's control. Now transform and roll out!"
Cyberpunk grinned, watching the destruction unfold before her. "Soon this entire district will be rubble!" She purred to herself. An alert popped up on the screen before her, and she accessed it.
A feed from one of the police drones showed S.W.A.T. units gathering a few blocks away behind a barricade. She smirked. "I always wanted to swat S.W.A.T." She giggled manically about her pun.
Another screen popped up, showing four red blips moving in towards a fifth one.
Cyberpunk grinned like a shark.
The S.W.A.T. team looked up from where they were readying their weapons, and paled seeing the police drones moving in. "Put up covering fire!" Their commanding officer shouted and started firing at the drones with a few of her men. The bullets bounced off harmlessly as the drones raised their arms, hands retracting to reveal gun barrels.
"We need those launchers stat!"
"They're almost ready ma'am!"
"Sergeant!"
The S.W.A.T. leader looked up in time for the drones to start firing…
When a green S.W.A.T. vehicle skidded to a stop in front of the unit, shielding the officers from the spray. The drones halted their advance, taking in the sudden arrival.
"Thanks." The sergeant said, trying to see the driver.
"No problem." The officer was startled when the voice came from the vehicle…
Which then broke apart, shifting until it was the form of a massive green bulky robot. "You guys may wanna step back." Bulkhead transformed his servos into his wrecking balls. "I got orders to keep you humans safe."
The S.W.A.T. officers just stared, stunned, as the Autobot charged at the drones. One swing of his wrecking ball easily crushed two drones, while the other three opened fire. The bullets harmlessly bounced off Bulkhead's thick armour, and with a grin he threw a wrecking ball out, launching it at the three and taking them down…
Along with accidentally putting a hole in the building behind them.
The big green mechling winced. "Oops…" Unfortunately, he quickly found himself under heavy fire from more drones. Those drones were quickly smashed as well.
Something suddenly rocketed past his side, a drone exploding. Glancing back, Bulkhead saw the humans armed with rocket launchers, which they aimed at the drones moving in. Grinning, the green Autobot returned to his smashing, somehow feeling that the humans had his back.
Paramedics were tending to some injured further down the wharf, while officers did their best to keep back some common trash robots. Unfortunately, a police drone soon joined the controlled bots.
"Everyone back!" An officer shouted, while the paramedics and injured civilians looked up in terror. The drone just raised its arms, preparing to fire…
When something gold shot through the air, slicing off both arms. The spinning weapon curved in the air, a tall, lithe form jumping to catch it before landing nimbly before the humans.
"I'll cover for you." Prowl said to the startled humans, deploying his battlemask. He then pulled out another giant hubcap shuriken, and launched himself at the robots, easily slicing through them.
The officers quickly shook themselves out of their stupor and started ushering the civilians away. Unfortunately, more robots soon blocked their path…
Who were swiftly plowed into by a driverless ambulance.
"Sparkless junk." Ratchet grumbled, before directing his voice to the humans. "Anyone who can't walk get in!" He opened his back doors. "More of those things are coming!"
Paramedics quickly got the worst of the injured inside, with one looking at the front. "W-What are you?"
"A friend." Ratchet spoke softly, seeing that the human was young. Barely out of his first upgrade… "Now I need directions to your nearest safe medical centre!"
"Y-Yes sir!"
Sari squeaked, tripping on an exposed rebar. She tumbled down the pile of debris she had been climbing down, landing on her bottom. "…ow…" she whimpered, slowly sitting up.
The sounds of crunching made her look up, and the young girl squeaked in terror as a lone police drone moved towards her. It raised its arms, aiming its turrets at the human…
A yellow blur shot past, scooping up the pre-teen moments before she became swiss cheese.
"Whoa!" Sari yelped, clinging to the metal arm of her saviour.
A young, boyish voice with a metallic tinge shouted, "Eat stingers!" from above her, and the drone exploded as it was zapped.
The girl gaped, before looking up at the robot holding her. It- he? - smiled at her. "You, okay?"
Sari nodded, before grinning. "That was so cool!"
The minibot grinned back. "Thanks! I'm Bumblebee." He said, looking around for more drones before starting to carry the human towards Ratchet's signature.
"I'm Sari."
"Oh, don't be. I like my name."
The dark-skinned girl blinked. "No no! That's my name! Sa-ri." She corrected, pronouncing the 'a' in her name.
"Oh sorry! My bad."
The redhead blinked. "What are you?" She asked, poking his armour curiously.
Bumblebee grinned. "I'm an Autobot! My friends and I are here to help!"
"Cool! Can you help me find my dad?"
"Sure!" A pause. "…what's a dad?"
"What?! No!" Cyberpunk stared in disbelief as several of the dots representing her controlled robots blinked out. "What's going on out there?!"
She brought up another feed from a drone close to where some went down, only for it to be cut off by something golden slicing through it. Growling she switched to another feed, but that one was swiftly destroyed by a green wrecking ball. Two more blips also went out on another screen.
Gnashing her teeth, she switched focus to the outside. There was the police chief, hunkering behind a squad car with other officers, firing at the drones she had ordered to kill them. "Well, if I can't create chaos in the public, I'll at least create chaos from killing the police chief!"
"Chief!" An officer shouted in warning, and Fanzone looked up to see the C.A.P. bearing down on him. "EVERYONE BACK!" He ordered, firing at the machine and trying to cover his men's retreat.
A truck horn blared, before a white, blue, and gold accented pickup slammed into the C.A.P., knocking it away and sending it into a building. The truck backed up, miraculously undamaged.
"Who the hell…?" Fanzone stared at the vehicle, before shouting, "Hey hot shot! Thanks for the save but it's too dangerous! Get out of here!"
At that moment the C.A.P. burst from the debris. Inside, Cyberpunk was snarling, rabid with rage. "You little-! I'll squash you!"
"I'd like to see you try." The truck spoke, before breaking apart. Jaws dropped as it reshaped into a female-esqe humanoid robot, who cracked her knuckles. "Fair warning: I don't like bullies."
"What in heaven's name…?" Fanzone stared, not sure what to make of this new development. Is this one of Sumdac's?!
Cyberpunk was similarly startled, before smirking. "Didn't you get the memo?" She increased the control frequency. "This machine can take control of any others, including your robot suit!"
Override just tilted her helm, battlemask deployed. "Too bad for you this isn't a suit." With a yell she lunged at the machine, tackling it. The C.A.P.'s arms instantly grabbed at her, trying to throw her off. The Autobot held on, glancing at the stunned officers. "Get out of here! I got her!" She shouted, before grunting as a metallic fist hit her faceplate. The Prime skidded back from the blow, digging trenches in the asphalt, but remained upright.
"I don't know what you are," Cyberpunk growled from within the C.A.P., "but you'll soon be scrap metal!"
Several police drones and smaller robots converged on Override. The femme raised an optic ridge, before chuckling. "The only scrap metal around here's gonna be them!" With that she leaped into the air, avoiding sprays of bullets. At the apex of her jump, she whipped out her twin energon blades, bringing them down on a police drone and cutting right through it. Without stopping Override easily cut through the rest of the drones or stepped on the smaller ones.
Inside the C.A.P., Cyberpunk started redirecting all robots under her control to come to her as backup. "I won't be taken down so easily." She growled, before smirking seeing the robot's back turned to her.
Fanzone looked up from where he had been helping an injured officer limp, and his eyes widened seeing the weapon on the C.A.P.'s right arm aim at the new robot. Even with his dislike of machines this one was saving lives.
"Look out!"
Override spun at the shout, only to cry out in pain as a taser impacted her torso, sending jolts of electricity into her. She collapsed to her knee joints and servos, body slightly seizing from the electricity coursing through her circuits. The C.A.P. moved in, reaching out its left arm…
Only for a blade to lash out, cutting it off, before a pede impacted its torso, kicking the machine back. Override cycled her vents hard, getting up and pulling the taser prongs from her armour. "That… was a low blow." She gasped out, circuits still smarting from the high voltage shock. "But then again, you're a villain."
Cyberpunk snarled from within the C.A.P., slamming her free hand down on the controls. The hand broke apart, revealing the machinery inside, and integrated her fully with the machine. The villain grimaced from the strain of having to force speed her full integration, but she refused to let herself lose now.
Override got into a ready stance as the C.A.P. got back up, noting that the humans had managed to evacuate safely. Unfortunately, more drones had also arrived.
:Prime to Autobots. I could use an assist!:
Bulkhead was the first to answer her hail. :Sorry boss-bot! I'm a bit pinned down!: By pinned, he was fighting an automated excavator that was trying to push him into a building full of civilians, who the S.W.A.T. officers he had teamed up with were quickly trying to evacuate elsewhere.
Override grunted as she was pelted with bullets from behind, while holding off a large yellow construction bot. :Anyone else?!:
:I'm on my way boss-bot!: Bumblebee voiced over the comms. :Just need to get a human to safety!;
:Prime!: Wheeljack's voice cut in over the comm. link. :I've been analyzing the frequency used to take control. I think I have a patch to block it!:
The femme kicked the construction bot away, slicing off its arms before vaulting over a police drone. She tried to grab the C.A.P. but was tackled by several smaller robots. :I'm listening!:
Down in the liquid body inside the Orion, the inventor was typing at his console. :I whipped up a counter frequency to jam it, but I can't beam it from the ship!:
:Then find a way to bring it up and use it Wheeljack!: Override shoved several of the small robots off her, even as she was peppered by gunfire. At this rate she couldn't get near the C.A.P., so having a different plan was their best bet. :Bumblebee, meet up with Wheeljack! Your speed could be useful!:
:On it boss-bot!:
:Prime!: Ratchet suddenly shouted over the comms. :Prowl's down!:
:How bad?: The femme asked, throwing a dagger at the drone firing at her, before rolling away from another that tried to grab her. She transformed a servo into her ion cannon and blew it apart.
:Surgery bad.: Was the response. :I'm taking him back to the ship!:
:Understood.: Override acknowledged, stabbing one of her blades into a drone before shooting another. More robots continued to swarm in, forcing the femme to rely on every bit of training and battle protocols programmed into her.
Fanzone watched from a distance as the strange robot fought off several police drones and civilian robots. Reports over the radio had spoken of other 'transforming' robots fighting off the drones and getting civilians to safety; one was even an ambulance that transported several severely injured people to the nearest hospitals. His fist clenched around the radio: what were these robots? How were they not being controlled like the others? And who was controlling them?!
The radio suddenly crackled. :One of the robots just got hit-! Holy shit! It's-It's bleeding!:
Fanzone stared at his radio. A robot… bleeding? Robots were robots!
Right?
Wheeljack stood by the small pier, waiting for Bumblebee to arrive. Soon enough the minibot's new vehicle form sped around a building, the young bot transforming and running up to the inventor. "What'cha got 'Jack?"
Wheeljack held out a circular device the size of his palm. "This device should jam the controlling robot's frequency, and take it out, but it needs to be attached." He pointed to the magnets on one side. "Just put it this side down on it's back."
Bumblebee saluted. "Got it!" He snatched the device and took off, transforming.
The inventor started, before taking off after. "Wait! I haven't told you how to activate it!" He transformed into his sleek alt mode and took off after the younger bot.
Cyberpunk watched through her visuals as the female-eque robot continued to fight off the robots she sent its way. Her teeth ground together as more were cut down, reducing the numbers she had under her control. Already the villain was working on trying to expand the radius of the control frequency, and its strength. How could this robot remain out of her control?!
A police drone aimed at the unsuspecting femme's back, only for it to be smashed by a large green wrecking ball. "Got your back boss-bot!"
Override smiled behind her battle mask as the lumbering form of Bulkhead joined the fray. Nodding, she was able to focus more on getting to the C.A.P., if not to override control to at least distract the pilot for Wheeljack.
That became unnecessary, when a shout cut through the air as Bumblebee jumped on the back of the C.A.P., whooping as the robot jerked about. The minibot then slammed a disk-like device on its back, pressing a button on it before jumping off.
The C.A.P. spun around in response, only to jerk as the disk lit up. Every automaton that had been under its control stopped at that moment, before falling into idle mode.
Override loosened her battle stance, turning to face the grinning yellow bot. "Good job Bumblebee."
At that moment a white sports car with red and green racing stripes raced over, transforming and revealing Wheeljack. "Haha! I knew it would work!" The inventor crowed.
The Prime rolled her optics. "Yes… better it works then blow up." She crossed her arms.
Wheeljack's engine coughed sheepishly. "Ah… yes. Of course."
"What now boss-bot?" Bulkhead asked, coming over.
Override turned to face the C.A.P., which had not moved since the control frequency had been disabled. "Now we deal with her." With that she walked over, pulling out a dagger and jamming it into the seam of the robot suit's door. Using her dagger as a lever, the femme forced the cockpit open, revealing the cursing cyborg human inside. "No! No this can't be! I was so close-!"
The villain yelped as she was plucked from inside the C.A.P., her connection to the machine forcefully disconnected. She then found herself dangling from the metallic hand of the female robot. "Put me down!"
The femme Autobot raised an eye-ridge, before her battle mask retracted and she smirked. "Gladly." She looked over her shoulder at the bulky green robot. "Bulkhead, if you would?"
The larger bot reset his optics, before he understood. "On it boss-bot!" Grabbing a rebar from the back of the now-idle construction robot, he easily bent it around the cursing villain dangling from his captain's digits, trapping the woman in the metal.
Override nodded in approval, before carrying the bound Cyberpunk over to the officers that were still nearby. A few of them raised their weapons at her, so the femme raised her free servo in what she hoped was a placating manner. "Easy… just returning someone to your custody." Slowly, she crouched, setting the bound cyborg down in front of them.
The large human who appeared to be in charge quickly shouted at his men to secure the villain, then he looked at the Prime. However, before any conversation could begin, her went off. :Prime!:
The femme raised her servo to her audio receptor. "Ratchet?"
:I need assistance down here!:
The femme felt her spark plummet. Ratchet never called for assistance. "Autobots!" She shouted, standing up fully. "Transform and return to the ship!" With that she transformed to her alt mode and took off towards the sunken Orion, hearing the others transform to follow after.
Bumblebee was the last to transform, but before he could follow the others down the ramp and into the lake a familiar young human ran out in front of him. "Whoa!" He slammed on the brakes, stopping just before the girl. "Sari?! Are you crazy?!"
The pre-teen only grinned, taking advantage of his shock to open his passenger side door and climb in. "I wanna come with!" She stated, closing the door behind her.
"Wha-? But-!" The poor minibot was cut off as the girl gave him a pleading face. "Please?" She smiled. "You can trust this face, can't you?"
"Oh… alright. But stay quiet and out of sight!" 'Bee relented, resuming his drive into the lake.
Sari whooped, before realizing it and curling down in his back seat. "I mean, whoo-hoo." She cheered quietly. Then she noticed that they were driving underwater. "Umm… I'll be able to breathe down here, right?"
"Oh sure!" Bumblebee would've reset his optics had he been in root mode. "…What's 'breathe'?"
Override rushed into the medical bay, hearing the others transform behind her. "Ratchet, we're here!"
"Hold this!" The femme yelped, fumbling as a cube of medgrade was tossed into her servos. "And get ready to hold it up! Wheeljack!" The medibot didn't look up from where he was servos deep into Prowl's blown open side. "I need another pair of servos over here!"
"Right!" The inventor scrambled over, while Bulkhead stood nearby, watching worriedly. Outside the med bay, Bumblebee remained in vehicle mode, Sari peering out from the back seat. "Your friend's going to be okay, right?"
"I hope so…" the minibot responded. He and Prowl were never exactly friends but… that didn't mean he wanted him to go offline.
"Bumblebee!" The bot jerked at his leader's voice. "Transform and get in here!"
"Uh, coming!" Quickly Bumblebee rolled backwards, opening his back door. "Hide!" He hissed to Sari, who scrambled out. The bot then transformed and raced into the med bay to assist.
The human was left standing in the giant hallway, where she looked around. "Well… he didn't say anything about staying put to hide…" grinning Sari snuck off, eager to explore the alien ship.
Override was holding up the medgrade for the IV when she got an alert from Teletran on her HUD. Confused, she passed the cube to Bulkhead, excusing herself and heading outside. Reaching the bridge, she activated her console. "What is it Teletran."
"Movement detected in cargo hold." The AI answered.
Confused, the Prime opened the visual feed. She then reset her optics, reviewed earlier footage… then realized it. "Bumblebee…" She groaned, before activating her as she made her way towards the cargo hold. "Bumblebee, I didn't authorize any visitors. Especially in the cargo bay!"
There was a squeak on the other end. :I-I don't know what you're talking about b-boss-bot!:
"Bumblebee."
Another squeak came over the comm, which the femme disconnected as she entered the hold. It did not take her long to come upon the young, red-headed, dark 'skinned' human yelling at the Allspark about a "security deposit".
Shaking her helm, the femme coughed her engine. The human spun around, before smiling sheepishly. "Uh… hi?"
Override raised an optic ridge. "And what would you be doing down here?" She asked, crossing her arms.
The child opened her mouth, stopped, then raised a hand, just as Bumblebee scrambled in. "S-Sorry boss-bot!" He scooped up the human, who squeaked. "It followed me back!" The minibot grinned sheepishly. "Um… can I keep it?"
"Hey!" The young red-headed human protested. "I'm not an 'it' I'm a 'she'!" So, she prioritized her gender over that?
Override groaned, rubbing her forehelm. "Please tell me you have a good excuse for bringing one of the natives aboard." She asked the mechling, feeling a processor ache coming on.
"Actually I'm narrowing it down to my top five." Bumblebee admitted. "B-But it wouldn't hurt to have a local as a friend, right?"
:Prime!: Ratchet's shout over the comm. stopped any further conversation. :You better get up here! Now!:
"On my way Ratchet!" Override turned to the minibot. "And both of you come with. We'll discuss this situation later!" With that she took off, hearing Bumblebee follow behind her.
Upon entering the med bay, the medibot gestured over the the life support console with a servo. "Circuitry damage is extensive! I need you to reprogram the controls to keep his spark stable."
"On it!" The femme raced over, placing her servos on it and trying to help the medic keep their injured comrade stable.
"I need a replacement induction circuit board 'Jack!" Ratchet snapped. "And new 2.5 macro energon tubing!"
"Right!" The inventor started digging through a cabinet, trying to find the replacement parts.
Bumblebee watched worriedly as the bots worked to stabilize Prowl, holding Sari in his arms. "Ratchet…"
"Scrap! We're out of replacement boards!" Wheeljack shouted, getting a curse from Ratchet.
"The life support system is failing!" Override reported, cursing internally. "The damage is too extensive to hold out!"
At that moment Sari yelped loudly, getting everyone's attention. The human was being pulled forwards by the glowing key around her neck, almost falling out of Bumblebee's arms.
"What the-? Get that human out of here!" Ratchet snapped irritably, only for Override to rest a servo on his shoulder armour. "Wait." She ordered, before looking at the minibot and nodding. She wasn't sure why, but that key was glowing like the Allspark, and something in her spark told her to let the human help with it.
Taking the cue, Bumblebee set Sari down on the berth beside Prowl. The human looked at the bot, confused, but at Bee's encouragement she clambered over to the ninja-bot's injured side. There she held her glowing key over the injury, which then glowed brightly. The light obscured the wound, and before all optics, began to knit the injury back together. When the glow died down, Prowl's side was completely unmarred.
Ratchet's intake hung open in shock as the ninja came back online, sitting upright. "That's… quite the cure." He mumbled.
Bumblebee reset his optics, before looking at Sari. "Can all humans do that?" He asked.
Sari looked between the ninja now staring at her, then at the minibot. "I don't know how I did that." She admitted, holding the key.
Override shook her helm, though she was more relieved that Prowl was going to remain online. "We'll worry about that later." She cut in, crossing her arms. "I'd rather inquire as to why a certain minibot thought it would be prudent to sneak a human down here without authorization."
Bumblebee forced out a small laugh, stepping away from the taller bot, who was giving him her infamous Look. "Ah, well… you see…"
"It's my fault." All optics turned to the human. "I begged Bumblebee to bring me down." She scuffed her boot against the berth. "I just… I'm really curious about you guys…"
Override ex-vented, though she smiled a little. "That's understandable. From what I read your kind has never met other intelligent beings." She knelt down to be at optic level with the girl. "My designation is Override Prime. I am the captain of this ship, the Orion."
"I'm Sari!" The human smiled. "Sa-ri." She enunciated, not wanting to have a repeat of her first interaction with Bumblebee.
"I'm Bulkhead." The big green mech grinned, looking down at the much tinier human. "Bumblebee's best bud!"
"Prowl." The ninja nodded to the girl. "And I thank you for saving my life."
Sari smiled, before looking up as the inventor came over. "Designation is Wheeljack!" He grinned, wrapping an arm around the medibot's shoudlers and getting a growl. "Grumpy here's Ratchet!"
"I'll give you grumpy you oversized scrap helm!" The medic snapped, shoving Wheeljack away. The other bot just laughed. "Aw, you know you love me, Hatchet!"
"Why you-!"
"Enough!" Both bots stopped as Override stepped between them, the femme shaking her helm. Ratchet grumbled but stood down, while Wheeljack sulked.
Sari blinked, confused, before looking at Bumblebee. The minibot leaned closer to her. "Don't worry about those two." He whispered exaggeratedly, grinning. "That's just how they show how much they care about each other."
"I heard that!" The minibot squeaked at Ratchet's snap.
Override shook her helm, though a smile pulled on her lip plates. "Alright everybot, let's go to the bridge. The medbay is no place to talk with a guest."
Ratchet waved them off, turning away. "You lot go on ahead. I gotta clean up this mess." He huffed. "But if any of you are injured you keep your afts put! And take it easy Prowl!"
Nodding, the femme led her crew outside, with Bumblebee letting Sari ride on his shoulder. Only Wheeljack was forced to stay behind, at Ratchet's insistence.
Much to the inventor's horror.
Sitting at her console, Override watched as Bumblebee and Bulkhead indulged Sari in information about Autobots, Cybertron, and their adventures as a space bridge repair crew. Prowl was sitting at his station, sipping medgrade and reading a data pad.
The femme smiled, before turning her attention back to her computer. She was trying to use their sky drone to help boost the signal to contact Cybertron Command. Unfortunately, she couldn't make contact. We must be too far out of Autobot space. The femme thought worriedly. And with Teletran's chromonitor damaged, we have no way of knowing how long we were in stasis for.
Sitting back in her seat, the Prime rubbed the gold crest over her temple. At least the world they were stranded on didn't seem to be teeming with aggressive, Autobot-munching creatures. And we should have enough energon to last at least a full stellar cycle… a few megacycles at worst.
The door to the bridge slid open, with Wheeljack almost running in. "You rang boss?"
Override turned to face the inventor. "I can't get in contact with Cybertron. Do you think you can boost our signal?"
Wheeljack's engine hummed, the mech sitting down at his console. "Maybe, though depending on how far we are from Autobot Space it may be better to repair the Orion and try to navigate back. Though that's provided we're even in the same galaxy anymore…" he trailed off, typing away and hyper focusing on the new task.
The femme grimaced. "That's what I'm worried about." She mumbled, before looking down as Bumblebee laughed, retelling a story from one of their space bridge repairs. If she recalled correctly, it was the one near the Canimus Colony, and how Wheeljack managed to somehow reset his colour nanos to neon green.
Ex-venting, the Prime leaned back, staring out the bridge windows and out into the 'lake' they were resting at the bottom of.
"Boss-bot?" Override moved her gaze down to Bulkhead, who was standing below her console. "Is everything okay?"
His captain smiled a little. "Yes." She answered, not wanting to worry the younger bot. "This isn't the first time we've been stranded somewhere, remember?"
"Yeah…" he didn't seem convinced, but he didn't push it. "Cybertron Command will find us, right?"
The Prime nodded in reassurance. "Of course. They never leave a bot behind."
"Hey Bulky! C'mere!" Bumblebee called. "You gotta help me tell Sari of the race on Velocitron!"
"You mean the one with that femme who had the same designation as boss-bot?" The big bot asked.
Wheeljack's engine snorted. "I remember that!" He laughed from his station. "Never thought I'd see the cycle where two bots had the same designation and rank!"
Override rolled her optics. "Yes, that was quite the cycle." She shook her helm, recalling meeting the Velocitron Leader, a former member of the Autobot Elite Guard who had retired to lead her colony homeworld.
Watching the three bots indulge a very curious Sari, the femme let her smile fall, resuming her previous worried thoughts. One was prevalent overall… Does Command even know we're still online?
Beeping at her console shook the femme out of her thoughts. "What is it Teletran?" She asked. A visual feed from the sky drone popped up on the holoscreen, displaying what looked like search teams scouring the area where they had fought earlier in the cycle. She frowned, leaning back… and then groaned. "Sari, I think the humans are looking for you." Something told her that the kid hadn't told anyone where she was going… and given what she had skimmed through about humans…
The girl looked up, before her eyes widened. "Oops…" She scrambled down from the console Bumblebee had set her on. "My dad's gotta be worried about me."
"I'll take you back up." The minibot offered, standing. "I did bring you down here."
"We'll all go up." Override said, getting up from her seat. "Best we let our native hosts understand why we're here." She touched her . "Ratchet, meet us at the airlock. We're going up top." She closed the line before the medic could grumble at her.
"Are you sure that's a good idea Prime?" Prowl asked, putting his data pad away.
The femme ex-vented. "We're marooned on an unknown inhabited planet Prowl. It would be best to have good relations with the local population while we're here."
"I'll help!" Sari chirped, being carried up by Bumblebee. "I mean, Bumblebee here saved my life, and you guys saved Detroit! Not to mention you guys are awesome!"
Override smiled at the naïve optimism the human child had. "Thank you, Sari."
The thirteen-year-old grinned, shooting off a small salute.
Up on the docks, Issac Sumdac paced worriedly. So far no one had seen his daughter, and every minute that passed his concern grew. Was she trapped under rubble? Has some ruffian taken the opportunity to snatch her?!
At his side, Sparkplug whined worriedly, the robotic pup looking up at its master. Issac absently patted the robot, a motion more to comfort himself than the mutt.
Chief Fanzone walked over, shaking his head. "I'm sorry Professor. But there's no sign of your kid."
"Oh, my little Sari…" the scientist felt close to tears, which left him wiping at his eyes. "T-Thank you for trying."
Fanzone nodded, hating this part of his work. Shouting suddenly caught his attention, and the thickly built man ran over to the source. "What's going on?!" He demanded.
An officer pointed to the docks, where up a ramp several vehicles drove out of the lake. The doors to a small yellow Volkswagen with a black racing stripe opened, the missing child climbing out.
"Sari!" The girl turned at her father's shout, and she was quickly engulfed in a hug. "I was so worried about you!" At their feet Sparkplug let out mechanical barks, his tail wagging.
The preteen hugged her father back, feeling guilty for worrying him. "Sorry daddy. I didn't mean to scare you."
Issac only held his daughter closer. "As long as you come back safe and sound." He murmured softly, before realization hit him. "Sari… how did you drive a car out of the lake?"
The girl grinned, stepping back. "I didn't! My new friends gave me a ride back!" She turned to the 'vehicles'. "It's okay guys!"
At that the Volkswagen broke apart, soon taking the shape of a yellow and black robot. "Hi! My designation's Bumblebee!" He greeted.
"Oh my…" The professor stared as the other vehicles; a S.W.A.T. van, an ambulance, a police motorcycle, a sports car with red and green racing stripes, and a pickup truck; all transformed into robots.
The truck-bot, who appeared to be female, knelt down to be more level with the startled man. "Greetings. I am Override. I apologize for any undue worry that Bumblebee caused." She gave the minibot a look, getting an uncomfortable laugh from him in response. "Please, my Autobots and I mean no harm to your people."
"I- um-" Issac simply stared at the living wonder of mechanics before him, unsure of what to say.
"Guess I wasn't hallucinating after all." All optics and eyes turned as Fanzone walked over. "Fanzone, Chief of the Detroit Police department." He looked up at the femme. "And you guys aren't normal machines, are you?"
Override smiled a little. "Not for your planet. We are Autonomous Robotic Beings, from the planet Cybertron."
"Aliens…" Fanzone breathed, before shaking his head. "And I thought this was going to be a normal day." He muttered.
The Prime's smile turned sympathetic. "If it is any consolation, my crew and I didn't expect our cycle to turn out this way either."
As other humans slowly approached, Sari smiled and looked at her Dad. "So… can I keep 'em?"
Overhead, news helicopters and camera bots recorded the scene, the news outlets exploding with headlines of "first contact".
In the depths of deep space, a derelict warship drifted aimlessly. The once proud form of the Nemesis was left shattered and broken, with only a single spark aboard.
Sitting in the massive throne on the damaged bridge, Startscream glared at the shattered viewscreens, which crackled with static. He had drifted for untold stellar cycles; the explosion having knocked him offline for a long time.
Suddenly, a screen popped up, with an alert on it. Scowling, he opened it, and paused seeing it was a distress signal.
One of Autobot origin. "Autobots…" the seeker hissed, narrowing his optics.
On the holoscreen, it displayed the message being from the little ship that the Allspark had been linked to. And the galactic coordinates it was transmitting from.
"Allspark…"
A/N - Aaaaand that's it for part two! While I will follow the main canon, I may or may not throw in a few of my own plots, changes, etc in. But that's just me XD.
So, any thoughts so far? Please, I'm curious to hear. (It was also so much fun to write the Ratchet-Wheeljack interactions. The chemistry between them always makes me laugh; especially when Ratchet starts to chase Jackie XD)
And seriously, try to guess the cameos. I'll be making many down the line, so I want to see if you guys will pick them up.
Also, I'm addicted to the new open world rpg Wuthering Waves. It is a gacha game like Genshin Impact, but has a really unique style of battling, gameplay mechanics, and a very interesting storyline. Hopefully they'll continue on their vision instead of letting the fans force them to change the plot (as they did in the prologue. Seriously, in a post-apocalyptic time, it's natural for people to be suspicious! Good grief people are way too idealistic).
Maybe check it out if you want (no, I'm not sponsored. I just really enjoy the game).
Until next time!
