Ruby lead Yang to a balcony, and Yang asked, "So, you've been here, how long?"
"13 years," said Ruby.
"13 years?" asked Yang, "So, you've been here since..."
"Yeah," said Ruby, "I didn't know how to get home, but these people needed me."
"Okay," said Yang, "So, what now?"
"Well," said Ruby, "We're gonna see what you can do."
Ruby pressed a button, and the balcony moved away from the castle. From the water, came bricks, pipes, and platforms all over.
"If you can finish this," said Ruby, "You're coming with me. Watch and learn, sis."
Ruby then took off running, and jumped over some spikes, after jumping off some platforms. Ruby then jumped over the pipes, that had mechanical machines that bit at her. Ruby made sure to keep her cape out of their mouths. Ruby slid under a bar with orange balls on it, and sprung off a spring. She landed on some more bricks, and jumped forward, punching a wooden post that was meant to be Bowser. Ruby landed on some platforms that fell each time she stepped on them. Some cannons then shot large bullets with painted faces on them, and Ruby smirked. Using the bullets as platforms, she jumped across the gap, and grabbed the flag pole, and spun around for a bit. She used her dress as a parachute, and gently floated down, right next to a stunned Yang.
"That was AWESOME RUBES!" said Yang, "So, I have to do all that?"
"You can have a power up if you'd like," said Ruby.
"Power up?"
"They give us special abilities," said Ruby, punching a block with a ? on it.
The power up then fell into Yang's hand. It was a red mushroom with white spots.
"OH, GEEZ! Really!? A mushroom!? Ruby, I hate these!"
"Oh come on, don't be a baby," said Ruby.
Yang looked at the mushroom, and said, "You know what, never mind. If you can do it without a power up, so can I!"
Yang then ran off, and jumped up, only to come short of the platform.
Yang was thrown back onto the start, where Ruby said, "You wanna try it now?"
Yang looked at the mushroom, and said, "Fine."
With much effort, Yang swallowed the mushroom, and felt a bit strange. She then felt her hand tingle, and it grew bigger. Slowly, her body followed, and she saw she was much taller now.
"Woah!" said Yang, "this is so cool!"
"Just be aware," said Ruby, "You will loose the power up when you get hit."
"Just watch this," said Yang, going forward, and jumping, only to get chomped on by the plant machine.
Ruby punched the block again, and Yang looked at it.
"Yay, more mushrooms," she said sarcastically.
She swallowed it once more, and ran the course once more.
Yang ran through it, but failed a number of times. She was hit by the bar, missed the platform a number of times, and fell off of them because she was celebrating.
Yang had too many mushrooms, and threw up, with Ruby patting her shoulder.
They were at it all night, and Ruby was sleeping. Yang looked at the pole, and then at the mushroom. She threw it on the ground, and said, "That's it! I'm doing it my way!"
Yang then took off, and jumped up, shooting her weapons this time, and launching herself up. She then punched the machine plants. After jumping up, she punched her way down, and saw blockages. Yang ran forward, punching through them. Ruby slowly woke up, and saw her sister going through the course.
Yang jumped from the ledge, and punched through the Bowser cutout, and ran across the falling platforms, and towards the bullets. She launched her way forward, and stomped on them all, launching herself forward. Yang's eyes went wide, as she was just 3 meters away from the pole. Sadly, a mechanical plant chomped down on her at the last second.
Yang was dropped, and Ruby said, "Yang, that was..."
"Just go," said Yang, "You don't need me. I can't even finish a simple obstacle course."
"You didn't give up," said Ruby, "that takes guts. And, I was gonna let you come with me either way."
Yang turned to Ruby.
"What?"
"You really think I'd let my stubborn sister, who always does the opposite of what she's told, be left behind, especially when we have years of bonding to make up?"
Yang smiled, and hugged Ruby.
"Oh Ruby, thank you!"
"Oh course Yang," said Ruby, "I'll always be there for you."
"So, how long did it take for you to master this course?" asked Yang, as they headed back to the castle.
"Oh, many years," said Ruby, "And it was no picnic, let me tell you."
"... You got it on your first try, didn't you?"
"... Yeah, I did."
