*Mission Report: ROOT Headquarters Incident*
*Time of Discovery* 03:35
*Location* ROOT Headquarters, Hidden Leaf Village
--
*Summary of Findings*
At approximately 03:35, ANBU operatives discovered significant damage at ROOT headquarters. The scene revealed minimal structural destruction consistent with a high-level infiltration and stealth operation.
1. *Casualties*
- Shimura Danzo was confirmed dead. His body was found in the central chamber of the headquarters.
- Numerous ROOT operatives were incapacitated or deceased. The number and manner of casualties suggest stealth based assassination .
2. *Damage Assessment*
- The headquarters' internal security systems were compromised.
- Structural Damage was kept to minimum .
3. *Key Evidence*
- Danzo's mutilated arm, containing several Sharingan implants, was left on display. The implants were damaged beyond use, but their presence confirmed Danzo's prior activities.
- Documents detailing various illicit activities and experiments conducted by Danzo were scattered throughout the facility. These documents provide evidence of Danzo's extensive criminal operations.
4. *Operational Impact*
- The ROOT operational capacity has been severely disrupted. Remaining agents are either incapacitated or in disarray.
- Immediate pursuit of the infiltrator is deemed challenging due to the extensive precautions taken by the attacker to evade capture that has resulted in lack of trail .
- surviving and awakened ROOT operatives 7CK01 reports usage of extremely potent genjutsu by Sasuke Uchiha that altered their sense of movement , direction and physics.
5. *Recommendations*
- Secure and analyze the scattered documents for further intelligence on Danzo's operations.
- Conduct a thorough search for any surviving ROOT agents active on missions
- Initiate a high-priority investigation to identify and locate the individual responsible for the attack.
The Hokage Tower's war room was a hive of tension as the first rays of dawn illuminated the solemn faces of the council members. The atmosphere was charged with urgency and unease. As the gathered clan heads, department leaders, and key village officials reviewed the detailed report on ROOT's recent incident, the gravity of the situation set in.
Even Jiraiya , the last loyal student of Sandaime was grave, a far cry from his usual expression .
Shikaku Nara, the head of the Nara clan, stood at the head of the table, flanked by the enigmatic dragon-masked leader of the ANBU department. They had just finished reviewing the report detailing the infiltration of ROOT headquarters by Sasuke Uchiha, which led to the elimination of Shimura Danzo and extensive damage to ROOT's operations.
"Everyone has had a chance to read the report," Shikaku began, his tone reflecting the seriousness of the matter. "We need to discuss the implications of Sasuke's actions and Danzo's extensive crimes."
Hiashi Hyuga, whose usually calm demeanor was now replaced with anger never seen before . The Hyuga Clan head had always wielded a perfectly emotionless facade but considering Danzo's crimes which could have targeted his own clan , it was understandable. He addressed the room, "The report highlights Danzo's numerous transgressions, including his manipulation of bloodlines, experiments and brainwashing of children of Konoha , theft and implantation of Sharingan, direct responsibility in the massacre of the Uchiha clan and his actions that exacerbated the Mist Civil War. His contributions to the Third War led to border skirmishes with Kumo that could have been avoided."
Jiraiya added , because he could not keep his mouth shut at all , "Bastard had his greasy hands in every single jar . Talk about greedy . Still , the brat has balls of steel to go through this ."
Tsume Inuzuka, known for her fierce passion, spoke up with a sharp edge in her voice , a literal snarl on her face ."Danzo's crimes were far-reaching and destructive. The bastard's actions endangered the village and manipulated our bloodlines for his gain. Sasuke's intervention, while extreme, removed a significant threat from within our ranks." Her distaste for Danzo was well known to all .
Chouza Akimichi nodded in agreement. "Danzo's crimes are a matter of record. His activities compromised our security and created unnecessary conflicts. Sasuke's actions, though drastic, have addressed a critical threat to our village's stability."
Shikaku reviewed the room, his gaze steady. "We need to consider not only the consequences of Danzo's death but also the broader implications of Sasuke's actions. His unilateral decision to act outside the village's sanctioned channels presents a complex dilemma."
As the debate over Sasuke's actions continued, Chouza Akimichi leaned forward, his brow furrowed in concern. "There's one question that needs addressing," he began, his voice carrying a note of frustration. "Where was the Sandaime during all of this? Did he turn a blind eye to Danzo's actions?"
The room fell silent, the weight of Chouza's question hanging heavily in the air. The clan heads exchanged uneasy glances, and Shikaku Nara shifted uncomfortably.
Hiashi Hyuga's expression hardened. "The Third Hokage was aware of many of Danzo's activities, but he was bound by the constraints of his position and the delicate balance of power within the village that he created himself . We should not forget that the Third Hokage considered Danzo his best friend and right hand man. "
Inoichi Yamanaka, his tone edged with anger, spoke up. "Efforts were made, but they were not enough. The Sandaime's inability to act decisively against Danzo's manipulations allowed these crimes to fester. His oversight is partly responsible for the chaos we're facing now."
Tsume Inuzuka, her eyes flashing with a fierce light, added, "The Sandaime's inaction speaks volumes. It's not just about Danzo; it's about the system that failed to protect the village. If the Hokage had taken stronger measures, we might not be dealing with the aftermath of such corruption."
Jiraiya kept quiet. There were not many things he could have said . While he respected his teacher a lot , he could not deny his failures. His failure of Orochimaru, his failure of Naruto . And now this ..
Shibi Aburame, though usually reserved, spoke with quiet rage that surprised many . Neither of them could ever recall a moment when Shibi had lost his calm . "The Third Hokage's limitations in addressing Danzo's actions are evident. My own son Torune , whom I believed to be long dead is one of the incapacitated ROOT agents . It is crucial that we address the failure to prevent such abuses, rather than merely assigning blame."
Chouza nodded, his face reflecting the gravity of the situation. "The absence of decisive action allowed Danzo to continue his machinations unchecked. We need to ensure that such failures do not recur and that accountability is maintained at all levels."
Hiashi's gaze remained steady. "The Third Hokage's legacy is complicated, but focusing solely on his shortcomings will not solve our current problems. We must address the present situation with clarity and resolve, ensuring that the village can move forward and heal."
The dragon-masked ANBU leader, his voice muffled but clear, interjected. "Uchiha's methods were reckless. While Danzo's actions were reprehensible, allowing a rogue shinobi to operate with such autonomy could undermine the village's authority and security."
Tsume's eyes flashed with defiance. "Danzo's actions were a clear threat to the village. Sasuke's intervention was a necessary evil. The real issue here is not Sasuke's methods but the extent of Danzo's treachery."
Chouza spoke up, his voice carrying a tone of reason. "We must balance our response. Sasuke's actions revealed critical truths about Danzo's operations and his threat to the village. We need to consider how best to protect the village while addressing the repercussions of Sasuke's actions."
The dragon-masked ANBU leader remained resolute. "This is not about the righteousness of Danzo's actions but about maintaining order and control. Allowing Uchiha to act outside the village's jurisdiction poses a risk to our stability."
Tsume's gaze was sharp. "Order? The real threat to order were Danzo and the Sandaime himself . Sasuke took decisive action where we were powerless . We should be grateful, not punitive."
Hiashi leaned forward, his voice firm and resolute. "While Sasuke's methods were extreme, we must recognize the value of his actions. Danzo's corruption and manipulation of bloodlines were a significant threat to the village. Sasuke's intervention has prevented further damage. After Sandaime's demise , we are as of right now leaderless . We need to keep calm and not fight amongst ourselves . A civil war is the last thing that can happen to Konoha right now ."
Jiraiya raised an eyebrow. Hiashi was probably one of the most arrogant politicians , being the Hyuga Clan head. To think he would come forward with those words .. was surprising .
"More than anything , we need a leader right now . Jiraiya-sama , we request you take the position of Godaime Hokage ."
Jiraiya laughed nervously , which enraged a few people in the meeting . Before they could object however , he spoke quickly.
"Now now , let's not be hasty . I do have my information network to maintain you know ! Anyway , I have been tracking Princess Tsunade's for a while now . Give me a month of two , I shall bring her back ."
Chouza immediately said , " will she return though ? Forgive us Jiraiya-Sama but Tsunade-sama has not stepped foot in this village for more than a decade ."
Jiraiya laughed , a loud , bright laugh . "Not to worry , not to worry . I will bring her back . She will be the Godaime Hokage . I shall go then , I do not have much time to waste after all ."
The room buzzed with debate, as each leader weighed in with their perspective. The discussions were heated, reflecting the complexity of the situation and the diverse views of the council members.
Finally, after a prolonged exchange of arguments and counterarguments, Shikaku addressed the assembly with a weary tone. "The council has reached a decision. Sasuke Uchiha will be declared a missing-nin. However, considering the circumstances and the nature of his actions, hunter-nin will not be dispatched ."
The decision was met with a mixture of relief and unease. Hiashi and Shibi, carrying out the council's orders, apprehended the elders who had assisted Danzo against the Sandaime . Their protests and struggles echoed through the hallways as they were removed from the Hokage Tower.
Hiashi, his face a mask of determination, addressed the council. "These elders have caused enough harm. It is time for the village to move forward and heal."
Shibi nodded in agreement, his expression serious. "The village's stability must be restored. The truth about Danzo's actions must be acknowledged, and we must focus on rebuilding."
The room was quiet, the sound of the wind rustling outside the only noise as Naruto and Sakura sat before Kakashi in Kakashi's apartment .
Kakashi's one visible eye shifted from Naruto to Sakura. He seemed uncharacteristically solemn, the usual laid-back demeanor absent. There was no hint of the familiar Icha Icha Paradise book in his hand, nor the casual tone they'd come to expect from him. This was serious. Too serious.
"Kakashi-sensei," Naruto began, his brow furrowing in concern and desperation. He had just seen the note an hour ago before being called to meeting by Kakasho . "What's this all about? What's going on with Sasuke? Why did you call us here? Did he .. leave us ?"
Sakura sat silently beside Naruto, her hands clenched tightly in her lap. She'd been dreading this conversation, knowing it was about Sasuke. Sasuke had given her a goodbye note too . She desperately wanted to know what happened to him . But screaming wouldn't help at all . So she remained silent.
Kakashi took a deep breath, preparing himself for the conversation that would change how Naruto and Sakura saw their former teammate—and perhaps, Konoha itself.
"It's about Sasuke," Kakashi said, his voice low. "There are some things you both need to know. Things that the village has kept hidden, from all of you."
Naruto immediately leaned forward, his eyes wide with anticipation. "What do you mean? Is Sasuke okay? What did he do ?"
Kakashi sighed . He had to explain everything. Otherwise both of them would spiral into helplessness and lose themselves . He had to go through everything one by one .
"Do you two know about a man named Danzo Shimura ?"
Naruto quickly responded , his memory sharp. "The bandaged old man ? Isn't he like a friend of the Jiji ? His eyes though.. they were slimy ."
Sakura nodded . Almost everyone in the village knew Elder Shimura .
Kakashi held up a hand, silencing Naruto before he could continue. "Sasuke... He's made some decisions. Difficult decisions. He killed elder Danzo . And a secret part of ANBU , it was called ROOT ."
The words hung in the air like a dark cloud, heavy and suffocating. Naruto's mouth opened, but no words came out. Sakura's breath caught in her throat, her eyes widening in shock.
"Kakashi-sensei," Sakura whispered, struggling to comprehend. "Sasuke... He killed Danzo? But why ?"
Kakashi nodded. "Yes. It happened shortly after the invasion, after the Third Hokage's death. Sasuke went after Danzo with one goal in mind: to kill him. And he succeeded."
Naruto's hands clenched into fists, his knuckles turning white. "But... But why? Why would he do something like that?" His voice cracked with emotion. "Sasuke's not a murderer! He hates killing ! He said it himself - you- you saw him crying too when he-"
"I know Naruto ." Kakashi met Naruto's gaze, his expression filled with sorrow. "There are things that Sasuke discovered about Danzo, things that go back to the Uchiha massacre. Things that none of us knew , but..."
"What kind of things?" Sakura interrupted, her voice trembling. "What could make Sasuke do something so...so..."
"Horrible," Naruto finished, his voice barely above a whisper. "What could make him kill Danzo?"
Kakashi looked away for a moment, collecting his thoughts. "Danzo... He was responsible for the Uchiha massacre."
Both Naruto and Sakura froze, their expressions a mixture of disbelief and horror.
"No..." Sakura muttered, her voice shaking. "But... It was Itachi, wasn't it? He was the one who..."
"It was both," Kakashi corrected, his voice heavy with regret. "Itachi was ordered to kill his clan, but Danzo was the one who gave the order. He manipulated the Third Hokage, the elders, and the circumstances to ensure the massacre happened. He used the threat of civil war to justify the extermination of the Uchiha."
Naruto's entire body shook with anger, his eyes blazing with emotion. "That bastard! He...he wiped out Sasuke's entire family... his entire clan... and he... he got away with it?!"
Kakashi nodded solemnly. "Yes. Danzo operated in the shadows, hiding behind the guise of protecting the village. He did many terrible things under the pretense of doing what was necessary for Konoha. Sasuke learned the truth, and he decided to take matters into his own hands."
Sakura's eyes welled with tears, her hands shaking. "Sasuke... All this time... He was living with that pain, and we didn't even know..."
Naruto, however, wasn't listening to Kakashi anymore. His mind was racing, the pieces of a dark puzzle clicking into place. He had never liked Danzo, always sensing something sinister about him, but this—this was beyond anything he could have imagined.
"How could jiji let something like that happen?" Naruto's voice was shaky now, his anger mingled with deep confusion and hurt. "He was the Hokage! He was supposed to protect everyone!"
Kakashi's expression softened, knowing this part of the conversation would hurt Naruto the most. "The Third Hokage didn't want the massacre to happen. He fought to find a peaceful resolution, but... Danzo manipulated him, manipulated the council. In the end, he made Itachi an offer that seemed like the only way to prevent a civil war."
Naruto's heart pounded in his chest, the world around him feeling like it was collapsing. "But... Jiji... He wouldn't just... let something like that happen! He was like a grandfather to me! He always said he believed in peace!"
Kakashi's gaze was filled with empathy, but there was no denying the truth. "Naruto, I know this is hard to hear. The Third Hokage was a good man, but even good men make mistakes. Danzo... He exploited those mistakes."
Tears stung Naruto's eyes, his fists trembling. "How could he? How could Jiji let this happen? He... He was supposed to protect everyone! He was supposed to protect Sasuke's family!"
Kakashi sighed, understanding how deep this wound would cut. "Naruto, the world of shinobi is complicated. Even the strongest, most well-meaning leaders are sometimes forced into impossible situations. The Third Hokage did everything he could to find another way, but Danzo ensured there was no other path left. He cornered him."
Naruto's tears finally spilled over, his voice cracking. "I looked up to him... He was the one who believed in me for the first time .."
Sakura placed a hand on Naruto's shoulder, her own tears streaming down her face. "Naruto..."
Kakashi closed his eye for a moment, allowing Naruto a few moments to process the revelation. He had always known this moment would be the hardest for Naruto to endure. The Third Hokage had been a pillar of strength in Naruto's life, the closest thing to family he had ever known. Learning that the man who had believed in him had also been complicit in such a terrible event would shatter him.
Sakura rose from her seat, wrapping her arms around Naruto in a tight embrace. "Naruto, I'm so sorry…" Her voice was soft, and though her heart ached for Sasuke, it ached just as much for Naruto. He was losing something vital—the unwavering belief in the goodness of people, a belief that had sustained him through so much hardship.Naruto buried his face in Sakura's shoulder, the sobs coming uncontrollably now. His cries were raw and filled with the pain of betrayal. He had fought for the village, for the people in it, believing in the ideals of the Hokage.
But now, his heart felt hollow, shattered by the weight of truth.Kakashi remained where he was, watching them both. It was hard for him, too—seeing Naruto so broken. He had watched Naruto grow from a loud-mouthed boy into a determined young shinobi who wanted to change the world for the better. Kakashi had hoped that Naruto's faith in people wouldn't be destroyed so soon, but Sasuke's actions and the truth behind the Uchiha massacre left no other choice.
After a long moment, Naruto pulled away from Sakura, wiping his eyes roughly with the back of his hand. His breathing was still ragged, but the raw pain was giving way to something else—a burning determination that flared in his eyes. "So that's why Sasuke did it," he said, his voice hoarse but steady. "That's why he killed Danzo."
Kakashi nodded. "Yes. Sasuke discovered the truth and made his choice. He didn't just kill Danzo out of revenge, though. He also destroyed most of ROOT." Naruto's eyes widened.
"ROOT... What did they have to do with all this? You said they were secret group of ANBU . What did they do ?"
Kakashi sighed, crossing his arms as he explained. "ROOT was Danzo's private military force, a group of shinobi trained to operate outside the normal laws of Konoha. They were raised to be emotionless, tools to be used for whatever means Danzo saw fit. ROOT carried out some of the village's darkest missions, missions that would never be publicly acknowledged."Sakura's face paled as she listened, her stomach churning with disgust.
"They were assassins... But weren't they part of the village? How could something like that exist?"
"Danzo operated in the shadows," Kakashi explained. "He believed that in order to protect Konoha, extreme measures were necessary. ROOT was his way of keeping control. They carried out his dirty work—spying, assassinations, sabotage—things that even the Hokage didn't always know about."
Naruto's fists clenched again, but this time there was no confusion in his eyes, only anger.
"So Sasuke... He went after them because they were part of what destroyed his clan." Kakashi nodded.
"Yes. Sasuke believed that ROOT was complicit in the massacre, that they had been part of Danzo's scheme. We don't know how he learned the truth but he dismantled them, piece by piece. He fought through their ranks, killing many of them after he confronted Danzo."
Sakura's hands were trembling. She couldn't believe what she was hearing. All of this had been going on in their village, right under their noses, and they had never known.
The one she once loved , considered a comrade, a friend, had taken justice into his own hands, and the thought terrified her.
"Do you think..." she began hesitantly, "that Sasuke did the right thing? Was killing Danzo the only way?"
Kakashi's gaze softened as he looked at her. "Sakura, Sasuke did what he thought was right. Whether it was the only way, I can't say. But I do know that Sasuke's actions came from a place of deep pain and betrayal. He wanted justice for his family, for his clan, and in his mind, Danzo's death was the only way to achieve that."
Naruto looked down, his voice quiet. "Sasuke... He never told us any of this. He never asked for help. He just... did it all on his own."
Kakashi's expression was filled with regret. "Sasuke has always carried his burdens alone. He didn't trust anyone else with his pain. I believe that's why he did this too. "
Sakura wiped at her eyes, trying to hold back more tears. "But he didn't have to do it alone... We could have helped him..."
"Kakashi-sensei…" Naruto's voice was uncharacteristically quiet, almost hesitant. "Sasuke left me a note."
Sakura's head jerked up, her eyes wide with surprise. She quickly reached into her own pocket, pulling out a folded piece of paper. "He left me one too."
Kakashi raised an eyebrow beneath his mask. "A note?"
Naruto swallowed hard, pulling the crumpled paper from his pocket. His hands trembled slightly as he unfolded it. "Yeah… he said he wouldn't be seeing me for a while, but that we're still friends."
Sakura's voice was soft, barely above a whisper, as she read from her own note. "He said the same to me. That we're still friends."
Kakashi's slumped in relief, even though his heart clenched at their words. Even after everything, Sasuke hadn't completely severed his ties to them. It was a small glimmer of hope, but the pain those notes caused was evident in both Naruto and Sakura's eyes.
Naruto stared at the words, his brow furrowed. "I don't get it. He's out there, doing all this stuff—killing Danzo, destroying ROOT—and yet he says we're still friends? How does that even make sense?" His voice grew louder, frustration leaking through. "Why didn't he just come to us? Why didn't he trust us to help him?"
Sakura's hands trembled as she gripped her note. "Because he's trying to protect us, Naruto. He's always been like that. Sasuke thinks he has to carry everything on his own, like we're not strong enough to help him."
Naruto clenched his fists, the note crumpling in his grasp. "But that's not true! We are strong enough! We're his friends—his team! We should've been there for him… but he didn't let us."
Kakashi watched the two of them, his heart heavy with the familiar pain of losing someone . He had never understood Sasuke's motivations properly before . He knew Sasuke was grieving but he did not run after vengance . He took it like a duty . he was strangely enough , a pacifist . He was the first person to reach out to Naruto when Naruto was alone in misery . For that he had been forever grateful to him , when his cowardice and grief had kept him from reaching out to him .
For how long had Sasuke known . Was it a sudden decision or a planned one ? What was his mental condition right now ? All of those questions continued to swirl in his mind . But the notes made some things clear .
"Sometimes, people who are hurting the most think they have to push others away," Kakashi said, his voice low and steady. "Sasuke's fighting his own battles, and in his mind, he's doing it to protect you both. It doesn't make it right, but… it's what he believes."
Naruto shook his head, anger and sadness mixing in his voice. "That doesn't make any sense, Kakashi-sensei! We're a team, aren't we? Why would he think we'd be better off without him? That's just… that's just stupid!"
Sakura's voice broke as she whispered, "It's because he thinks Konoha is broken. That's why he's doing all of this… because he wants to fix it, his way."
Naruto turned to her, his expression filled with a mix of disbelief and sadness. "Sakura…"
She stared at the ground, her eyes clouded with pain. "Kakashi-sensei said it himself… Danzo did terrible things. ROOT did terrible things. The village isn't perfect. Sasuke probably thinks that by destroying them, he's making it better. But he's… I can't even say he is wrong ."
"Konoha isn't perfect," Kakashi said quietly. "But that doesn't mean we can't make it better. That's what Sasuke's trying to do, in his own way. But his way… it's dangerous."
Naruto sniffled, anger flashing across his face again as he tightened his grip on the crumpled note. "Well, he doesn't have to do it alone! We're gonna bring him back, and we're gonna fix the village together. I don't care how strong he gets—he's not leaving us behind!"
Sakura looked at Naruto and her felt a glimmer of hope . The could do it . Together , they could bring him back .
Naruto continued fiercely. "He said we're still friends, didn't he? He wouldn't have left us those notes if he didn't want us to come after him. He's waiting for us to get strong enough, Sakura. We just have to show him that we're not gonna give up on him."
Sakura stared at her note, Sasuke's words echoing in her mind. "We're still friends." She had wanted to believe that so badly, but now, hearing Naruto's conviction, she realized that maybe… maybe Sasuke hadn't completely closed the door on them. Maybe he was waiting for them to catch up.
She wiped away her tears and nodded, her voice steady. "You're right, Naruto. We can't let him do this alone. We'll get stronger, and we'll fix Konoha. And then, we'll bring him back."
Kakashi's heart swelled with pride as he listened to his students. Despite the pain, despite the weight of the truth they had just learned, they were still determined to move forward. They hadn't given up on Sasuke, and they hadn't given up on each other.
"I believe in you both," Kakashi said, standing up and giving them a soft smile beneath his mask. "But remember, this won't be easy. Sasuke has his own path, and it's not going to be simple to bring him back. You'll need to be stronger than you've ever been before."
Naruto stood, fire in his eyes once more. "We will be, Kakashi-sensei. We'll get stronger, and when we do, Sasuke won't have any reason to keep running. We'll show him that he's not alone, that he never was."
Sakura rose to her feet beside him, her determination mirroring his. "And we'll make Konoha the village it should be. A place where no one has to go through what Sasuke did. We'll bring him back, together."
Kakashi nodded, feeling a deep sense of pride. "Then let's begin. The road ahead will be tough, but with both of you working together, I know you'll succeed."
The resolve in Naruto and Sakura's eyes spoke volumes. This was no longer just about bringing Sasuke back—it was about changing the village, righting its wrongs, and building a future where they could all stand together again.
The world shifted violently around Sasuke as the reverse summoning took hold. The familiar bunkers with flowing crimson blood and corpses of ROOT , faded into nothingness. In its place, he found himself standing on the edge of a colossal cliff. Before him stretched the infinite expanse of Hoshiyama , the Sacred Heights of the Eagles—a realm where the sky met the earth in a majestic display of natural splendor.
The cliffside was lined with ancient terraces carved directly into the mountain, each adorned with intricately woven nests of gigantic eagles. Below, a swirling mist blanketed the landscape, making the distance seem boundless. The air was crisp and pure, tinged with the aroma of pine and distant rainfall.
Hoshiyama was a place where time seemed to pause, where the sky met the earth in eternal union. Now, in the early morning hours, the night still clung to the mountaintop, but the faint light of dawn was just beginning to break. The stars slowly dimmed as the sky shifted from deep violet to shades of indigo, gold, and pink. The first rays of sunlight began to touch the clouds, casting a soft, golden glow over the landscape.
The wind whispered across the heights, carrying with it the scent of dew-drenched forests far below. It was a sacred moment, the cusp of a new day, and the entire realm seemed to bask in the serene anticipation of sunrise.
Sasuke's expression softened as he reached out to pet Kuroshiro, his personal summon and partner . His hand brushed over the smooth feathers, the warmth of the eagle's body a comforting presence against the cool dawn
As Sasuke took in his surroundings, a shadow grew larger above him. He looked up to see the massive form of Hiryuu, the elder of the clan, descending with an effortless grace. Hiryuu's feathers were a mix of gold and bronze, reflecting the faint light of the emerging dawn in dazzling patterns. Following closely were Kazekou whose feathers shimmered like storm clouds, and Shiratori, whose pure white plumage seemed to absorb and reflect the first light of morning.
The eagles landed softly, their immense talons barely making a sound on the stone. They were colossal yet majestic, embodying both power and serenity. Each of their eyes held the depth of centuries, and their presence commanded respect.
"Hiryuu-sama, Kazekou-sama, Shiratori-sama," Sasuke greeted with a deep bow, showing his respect for the elders.
Hiryuu's voice resonated like distant thunder, his gaze penetrating. "Sasuke Uchiha, you have returned to us. We have sensed a significant shift in the flow of events. You have achieved a momentous goal, have you not?"
Sasuke, his face set with determination, nodded. "Yes. Danzo, the man who was behind the massacre of my clan, is dead."
Kazekou's eyes, sharp as a hawk's, narrowed with both concern and curiosity. "And yet, even with this victory, you carry a burden. You have succeeded, but the storm within you still rages."
Sasuke's expression darkened. "I had to end his life. He was responsible for much suffering. But you're right—my journey is far from complete. Itachi still lives and so does the Akatsuki. My friends are still in deep danger ."
It was a painful thing to say . Sasuke understood what his brother had done . The love he carried for him . But what he had done was unforgivable , even if it tore him from the insides.
At this point , Killing Itachi would be a mercy. And he would give him that . It would be his last tribute to the brother he lost that day . He wondered though , how would Itachi react at the news of his deed. In another world he had done worse and still had been pardoned after an entire worldwide war . This time though he neither had any intention of leaving Naruto and Sakura nor any reason.
Shiratori, her gaze gentle but firm, spoke next. "Victory alone does not settle the soul. You have endured great trials, but remember that the true measure of strength lies not in the battles fought but in the peace you find afterward."
Hiryuu, towering above them, nodded. "You have honored the pact we made when you first arrived here. You have faced your demons and returned to us for respite. You have earned this rest."
Kazekou stretched his massive wings, the wind howling softly around them. "Our clan values more than just raw strength. We respect the balance of the natural world, the freedom of the skies, and the wisdom of endurance. You have adhered to these principles, even if they seemed foreign to you."
Sasuke recalled the trials he had undergone when he first arrived at Hoshiyama. He had spent nights soaring through the skies on Kuroshiro's back , a rite of passage that tested both his physical and mental limits. The eagles prized not only physical prowess but also an understanding of their place in the world.
Shiratori, her feathers glowing with an inner light as dawn began to creep over the horizon, added, "You have embraced the way of the wind, Sasuke. Here, battles are not merely about defeating foes but about achieving harmony with yourself . The skies belong to all who respect them."
Hiryuu's piercing eyes softened with approval. "Your journey is not over. There are more skies to conquer and more challenges to face. But know this: you are not alone. We are here, ready to guide you as you navigate your path."
Sasuke looked out over the endless expanse of Hoshiyama, feeling a rare sense of tranquility. The weight of his struggles seemed lighter here, where the natural beauty and the wisdom of the eagles offered a reprieve from his constant battles. He could feel the cool breeze on his face and the warm glow of the first sunlight on his skin, a familiar yet distant sensation of peace.
Here he could rest , albeit temporarily, from the weight of the world and the knowledge that he carried .
"I need to rest for some time ."
Kazekou's gaze was understanding. "Rest, young warrior. But remember, not all battles are fought with strength alone. Sometimes, the most crucial battles are those fought within the heart."
Sasuke nodded, acknowledging the depth of Kazekou's words. He looked at the elders with gratitude. "Thank you for allowing me to rest here and for assisting me when I needed it. I'm grateful for your guidance."
Hiryuu's voice rumbled in agreement as he extended his wings, preparing to take flight. "You have earned your place among us. When you are ready to face your next challenge, we will be here, watching and supporting you."
With that, the elders soared into the dawn sky, their immense wings stirring the air and casting long shadows over the terraces as the sunlight began to wash over the mountain. Sasuke watched them vanish into the distance .
