Weiss was in a bad mood as she made her way to the zone their Scrolls were indicating Professor Ozpin wanted them at. A complete dunderhead had spent most of the time they had for prep distracting her by trying to make her go on a date with him. Didn't he understand they both had better things to do with her time? She stewed in her anger as she approached the destination, only to notice people already waiting there all either too old or young for Beacon.
The leader, if she had to assume, was a pink haired woman in her mid to late twenties. She was kneeling down, talking to a girl leaning on a crutch. What was someone who was clearly crippled doing at Beacon?
As she approached, however, she was forced to reassess the situation as she heard the cripple saying, "I don't want you interfering unless things get disastrously bad, ok?"
"We'll try, but I think our definitions of that term vary drastically," the pink haired woman said, taking the offered red and black coat and stepping back.
"Rein?"
A woman with gray hair walked up, pressing her hands against the younger one's back and seemingly merging into it until nothing. At the same time, a blatantly obvious change happened to the girl herself. Her hair turned a fluorescent silver, and when she turned, unclipping her cane to hand to another short girl with ginger hair, one of her eyes had turned a dull red. She held out her left hand, and in a flash of light a black hafted staff with a golden, cross shaped head appeared in it. Red armored panels formed around her black skirt and a new, red and black coat formed around her, worn properly this time. As it settled in the breeze, six jet black wings spread from the girl's back.
All of this, in less than two seconds.
She gave a hug to each of the people surrounding her, including a large, strangely colored wolf, before standing up and making her way to her platform for deployment. Weiss found her own platform just as Professor Ozpin, who had been watching the process carefully, started to speak.

Ruby loved to fly. There was a freedom to it she didn't have normally, even if she was only a couple inches off the ground, she could move every way she wanted.
Hovering above the Emerald Forest, Ruby watched the other examinees plummet while she stayed suspended in mid air. Turning her attention to the large Nevermore that had turned in midair, flying towards her, Ruby brandished Schwertkruez. Pointing it at the Grimm, she began to incant, "And now my blade of light is unsheathed! Claíomh Solais!"
There was a brief moment where the world had two suns, as an incandescent beam of light burst from Schwertkruez. The Sword Cross pointed firmly at it's target, despite the torrent of mana bursting out of it and through the air. The spell swallowed the Nevermore, leaving just a shadowy outline for a second before that was dissolved too. Ruby cut the spell off there, looking down at the slightly burned treetops. Oops.
You knew that was going to happen, chided Reinforce.
Ruby lowered herself to an inch above the ground, flying carefully until she found a white haired girl fighting several Beowolves. Casting Brionac, Ruby shot through three of the four, leaving the girl to impale the last one on a spike of ice coming from a glyph on the ground.
Huh, that was interesting.

Weiss finished impaling one of the Grimm on a spike of ice, drawing Myrtenaster from the ground with a flourish and turning towards the next Grimm, only to see it decaying away from a shot to the head. Continuing her turn, she found each Grimm in the same state until she finally arrived on the girl hovering an inch above the ground. The black wings from her back weren't moving, but that didn't seem to stop her from defying gravity. In her hands was the staff and a strange book.
"Hi!" She said cheerfully, taking Weiss off guard. "Looks like we're partners! I'm Ruby Rose! Shamal, can you start monitoring her? Thanks!"
The last bit was spoken into thin air, making Weiss wonder if the girl was infirm in mind as well as body. She gave a happy nod, before saying, "So, who are you?"
She didn't know who Weiss was? What kind of- "Weiss Schnee."
"Oh, the daughter of Jacques Schnee?" Great, that was how she was identified. Not on her own merits, but by who her father was. Weiss nodded, "that means you're Nicholas Schnee's granddaughter! I respect him, he was probably the closest on Remnant to figuring it out."
The girl didn't elaborate on what "it" was, but if Weiss had to be compared to any of her family, she prefer it to be Grandfather or Winter, so she didn't complain.
"Alright, we can do this the quick way or the slow way," Ruby said.
"Which are?" Weiss asked.
"Quick is I pick you up and fly us to the ruins. I saw them while I was up there so I shouldn't have any problems. The slow way is that we walk. Well, you walk and I float."
"Let's fly," Weiss said after a moments thought. Being the first to get their relics and get back would make them look good. Besides it wasn't every day you got to fl- "aaaaaahhhhh!"
Ruby had hooked the hand holding the book around Weiss's stomach and skyrocketed into the air, before taking off at high speeds.
They should have walked. They definitely should have walked!

Glynda Goodwitch split her attention between monitoring the Emerald Forest and eying the trio, plus wolf, that had seemingly set up a small base a distance away. It wasn't anything special, just a few green screens being manipulated by the blond. Two showed Ruby Rose and Weiss Schnee flying over scorched treetops towards the relics. Others showed Yang Xiao Long and her partner and one, strangely, showed Jaune Arc. Signum was pacing back and forth, eyes roaming over the pictures while Vita and the wolf's stayed locked on Ruby's.
"I don't understand it," the blond said, watching Mr. Arc and Miss Nikos run from the giant Deathstalker, "His Linker Core is… It's as if it was never used before. I've never seen anything like that from a Huntsman before."
"We'll have to keep an eye on him," Signum said, what about the others?"
"B rank, mostly, except Weiss. She's A. And Jaune, he's… Low S, I'd say?"
Glynda had no idea what they were talking about, just watching as Ruby and Weiss picked out a piece and then, to Weiss's unhappiness, took off again.
