Chapter 10: We Wanted Angelina, But Budget Said Susanne: An Unexpected Ally.
"Take care of them. I have work to do," Evelyn Cross commanded with cold finality, her gaze never wavering as she surveyed the battlefield one last time.
Her DMSI agents, faceless in their sleek, black helmets, acknowledged the order with silent efficiency, readying their weapons. Some agents gripped stun batons crackling with energy, others checked the sights on their advanced energy blasters, and a few brandished devices eerily similar to the TVA's prune sticks, though with a less polished, almost knock-off appearance.
With a final, dismissive glance at Aqua and Deadpool, Cross summoned a Dark Corridor, the swirling vortex of shadows appearing behind her. Without another word, she stepped through it, disappearing into the inky blackness, leaving the ruined remnants of the Kingdom Hearts universe behind. The Corridor sealed shut with a soft hiss, the sound drowned out by the distant rumble of thunder that rolled through the shattered landscape.
The agents, now left to their own devices, didn't move from their positions. Their stances were tense, weapons held at the ready, but they made no immediate moves to attack. Instead, they spread out, forming a loose semi-circle around Aqua and Deadpool, a wall of silent, ominous figures prepared to defend themselves and carry out their leader's orders.
Aqua's grip tightened on Rainfell, her eyes scanning the agents, trying to gauge their next move. The air was thick with tension, the kind that comes before a storm, and she could feel the adrenaline beginning to course through her veins. She cast a quick glance at Deadpool, who seemed more focused on something else entirely.
Deadpool, on the other hand, seemed unfazed by the impending fight. He was still, almost eerily so, his katanas held loosely at his sides, Bea and Arthur glinting in the dim light. He was watching the agents with an almost casual interest, as if they were nothing more than a minor inconvenience. A slow grin spread across his face beneath his mask, and he turned to Aqua, a mischievous gleam in his eye.
"Alright, Aqua," he began, his voice light and teasing. "Before we start turning these guys into shish kebabs, I have an important question: Which song are we going with for this fight? You know, something to really set the mood."
Aqua blinked, momentarily thrown off by the sudden shift in tone.
"Song? What are you talking about?" Aqua asked, her confusion deepening as she scanned the area, still trying to make sense of Deadpool's strange behavior.
But before she could say more, the unmistakable notes of "Vim & Vigor" began to play, the powerful orchestral score resonating through the ruins of the Land of Departure, adding an unexpected but fitting intensity to the moment.
Deadpool's eye lenses lit up with delight, the familiar, epic tune putting a spring in his step.
"Ah, there it is! Just what we need—a little Yoko Shimomura to set the scene." He gave an approving nod, seemingly to no one in particular. "Nice choice, Writer! Let's make this an epic one."
"Focus, Deadpool!" Aqua demanded, trying to focus on the upcoming flash.
"Oh, I'm focused. Just gotta give credit where it's due, you know? Nothing like a good soundtrack to get the blood pumping!" Deadpool remarked.
Aqua sighed, her exasperation only making her more determined. But at the same time, the score started to play, which got Deadpool even more hyped up.
Objective: Take down the DMSI Agents.
Battle Music: Vim & Vigor - Kingdom Hearts Series
"Oh, now we are talking," Deadpool remarked in glee. "And hey look, it even has the objective of this fight scene, love that!"
"We need to take this seriously," Aqua said, her voice edged with concern as she tightened her grip on Rainfell.
"Hey, I'm serious!" Deadpool retorted, twirling Bea with practiced ease. "Serious about turning these extras into nothing but bad memories." He paused, his eye lenses squinting at the advancing DMSI agents. "Although, now that I think about it… these guys aren't just any old henchmen, are they? I mean, check out the vibe. You feel that?"
Aqua's eyes narrowed as she focused on the agents, their black armor gleaming ominously in the dim light. She could sense it now—the unmistakable presence of darkness clinging to them, like a suffocating fog.
"You're right…" she affirmed. "There's something off about them. I can feel the darkness."
"Aha! I knew it!" Deadpool replied. "The Aqua Darkness Radar, folks! Patent pending, but totally accurate. These guys are probably knockoff Heartless. DMSI must be getting their henchmen from the bargain bin these days."
The first agent lunged forward, his stun baton crackling with dark energy. Deadpool sidestepped effortlessly, slashing with Bea and cleaving through the agent, who dissolved into a cloud of inky darkness.
"Yep, called it!" Deadpool shouted, twirling around to decapitate another agent with Arthur. "I knew they had that 'Made in the Darkness' feel to them! Probably assembled in the same factory as the Heartless, with a knockoff label slapped on."
Aqua, still slightly perplexed by Deadpool's bizarre commentary, nonetheless fell into sync with him. She thrust Rainfell forward, summoning a barrier of light that deflected a volley of energy blasts from another group of agents. With a swift motion, she dismissed the barrier and cast a flurry of Blizzard spells, freezing the agents in place. Their bodies stiffened as the ice encased them, turning them into dark, frozen statues.
"We need to stay focused, Deadpool," she reminded him as she shattered the frozen enemies with a single powerful strike, sending shards of darkness scattering in all directions.
"Focused? This is my focus!" Deadpool replied, ducking under a baton swing before kicking an agent square in the chest, sending him crashing into two more like a bowling ball into a set of pins. "Maximum effort, Aqua! Gotta put on a good show for the audience—and by audience, I mean everyone who's probably already writing fan theories about how this crossover even makes sense." He paused just long enough to slice through another agent, their dark essence dissipating into the air. "And don't even get me started on the fan art! I can already see the illustrations of us duking it out with these shadowy goons. I mean, we look pretty awesome together, right? Classic hero team-up material!"
Aqua gave him a sidelong glance, her expression a mix of exasperation and amusement.
"Is now really the time to be thinking about fan art?" she asked.
"Always," Deadpool quipped, his katanas spinning as he cut down another agent. "Besides, this isn't my first rodeo with shady bureaucratic types. My last adventure, I took on two other British villains—Paradox and Cassandra Nova. You might've heard of them. They're still causing trouble in Deadpool & Wolverine, currently smashing box office records, by the way. And now with Cross in the mix, that makes three British baddies in the last month or so. Seriously, what is it with me and British villains? Is there some kind of quota I'm fulfilling? Why are all the big bads I usually face always British?"
Aqua blinked, trying to process the rapid-fire references and meta-comments.
"I… I don't know. Maybe it's just a coincidence?" Aqua mused, still trying to keep up with Deadpool's rapid-fire banter as she dispatched another agent with a precise strike from Rainfell.
Deadpool shrugged mid-swing, effortlessly slashing through another agent with ease.
"Coincidence, conspiracy, or just really good casting? Who knows?" Deadpool quipped, effortlessly slashing through another agent. "But I'll tell you this—Cross might be British, but she's no Dame Judi Dench. More like a budget Dolores Umbridge mixed with a dash of corporate Karen."
Aqua, slicing through an agent with precise elegance, glanced at him with a puzzled expression.
"I thought you called her Scully earlier? Or was it Gillian? I don't really get your nicknames for her," Aqua asked, confused by Deadpool's quips.
Deadpool chuckled, sidestepping an attack with a flourish.
"Ah, those were just warm-ups. I like to keep it fresh—gotta stay unpredictable, you know? Plus, if I had a dime for every name I've got for her, I'd be as rich as Disney! And trust me, that's saying something."
As the battle raged on, the pair tore through the DMSI agents with relentless efficiency. Aqua's mastery of magic was like a graceful dance, her spells weaving through the air with pinpoint accuracy, while Deadpool's chaotic, unpredictable fighting style brought a raw energy to the battlefield. Together, they became an unstoppable force, each move complementing the other's strengths in a perfect harmony of light and chaos. The agents were overwhelmed, dissolving into nothingness under their relentless assault.
Just as it seemed they had wiped out the last of the dark agents, more began to emerge from Dark Corridors around them, their numbers replenishing as they surrounded Deadpool and Aqua once again.
"Really? More of these guys? It's like they're on a subscription service—new batch delivered every five minutes," Deadpool groaned, rolling his eyes as yet another wave of DMSI agents emerged from the dark corridors.
"We can take them," Aqua responded, her voice steady and filled with unwavering determination. She raised Rainfell, ready to meet the onslaught head-on.
Deadpool paused, an idea suddenly sparking in his mind. He turned to Aqua, his white eye lenses narrowing with a mischievous gleam.
"Hey, Aqua, quick question—can you still D-Link?"
Aqua glanced at him, momentarily thrown by the unexpected question.
"D-Link? You mean Dimension Link?" she questioned.
"Yeah, that thing where you connect with someone and get a sweet power-up or whatever," Deadpool clarified, waving his katana around as if it were the most obvious thing in the world.
Aqua hesitated, a bit unsure.
"I haven't used it in a while… but I think I can still do it. Why?"
Deadpool's grin widened beneath his mask.
"Because if you can D-Link with me, we might just be able to throw these subscription goons a curveball they'll never see coming. Plus, I kinda want to see what happens when we combine my fourth-wall-breaking awesomeness with your Keyblade magic. What could go wrong?"
Aqua nodded, closing her eyes to focus her energy.
"Alright, I'll try," she said. "Just… brace yourself. This might get a little strange."
"Strange is my middle name, Aqua," Deadpool quipped, preparing himself as best he could for whatever the D-Link might entail. "Actually, it's not. It's Winston, but you get the idea." He paused, as if genuinely considering the weight of his own name. "Wade Winston Wilson... Has a nice ring to it, don't you think? Now, let's see what a Deadpool D-Link looks like."
Aqua nodded, closing her eyes and reaching out with her heart, focusing on the connection she needed to establish with Deadpool. The air around them seemed to hum with a faint energy, a pulse of light beginning to emanate from her as she tapped into the D-Link, something she hadn't done in a long time.
Deadpool suddenly felt an unfamiliar sensation, like a tug deep in his chest. It wasn't painful, but it was definitely… weird. His hands instinctively went to his chest as his eyes widened behind the mask.
"Whoa, what the—? Aqua, whatever you're doing, it feels like I'm about to have a magical heart attack. Is that supposed to happen?" he questioned, slightly panicked in his voice.
Aqua didn't answer immediately, her concentration solely on forming the bond. The glow around her intensified as she pushed past the initial barrier, her heart connecting with Deadpool's in a way that defied logic—though logic had never really been Deadpool's strong suit anyway. She could sense his chaotic energy, so different from her own, yet there was something resilient and oddly pure at the core of it.
Deadpool could feel the power spread through him, the sensation growing stronger, but instead of pain, there was a sudden rush of energy, like his very essence was being amplified. He could feel Aqua's presence merging with his, a steady, calming force that was somehow taming the wild, unpredictable storm that was his mind.
"Whoa... okay, this is... something else," he muttered, feeling the connection solidify. "It's like... I don't know, like I just got hit with a friendship nuke, but in a good way. I can't tell if I'm about to explode or if I'm leveling up. Either way, this is awesome!"
Aqua opened her eyes, now glowing with a soft blue light, and nodded.
"The connection's working. I can feel your energy—your strength," she explained. "This is what a D-Link feels like. We're linked now, Deadpool, and we can use this connection to fight together, stronger than before."
Deadpool could feel the energy coursing through him, his own chaotic nature blending with Aqua's disciplined focus. It was a strange but exhilarating sensation, as if he were suddenly able to channel all his madness into something sharp, precise, and incredibly powerful.
"Aqua, I gotta say, this is one of the weirdest things I've ever felt—and that's saying something. But I'm digging it. Let's give these darkness knockoffs something to really be scared of."
With their connection solidified, Aqua and Deadpool turned to face the oncoming horde of DMSI agents. The dark figures emerged from the shadows, moving in unison, completely unaware of the new strength their opponents had just unlocked.
Aqua immediately noticed the difference as they launched into the fight. Her movements were faster, almost instinctively precise, like her body had absorbed some of Deadpool's chaotic agility. She could feel his energy coursing through her, sharpening her reflexes and enhancing her attacks in ways she'd never experienced before.
She sliced through the first agent with a swift motion, then spun around to deflect a volley of energy blasts with Rainfell. As she did, she couldn't help but feel a strange urge—almost like a whisper in the back of her mind—to say something out of the ordinary. It was as if Deadpool's influence was creeping into her thoughts.
"Uh… take that, you corporate cannon fodder!" she blurted out, trying her best to channel Deadpool's irreverent style.
Deadpool, in the middle of decapitating an agent, sending it back to the darkness with a swift slash of Arthur, paused to glance at her. He raised an eyebrow behind his mask.
"Not bad, Aqua, but you've got to commit to the meta. You're dipping your toes in the pool, but we need a full cannonball. We'll work on it, kid."
Aqua felt a bit of embarrassment creep in but quickly shook it off as she dove back into the fight, focusing on the battle at hand. Still, she couldn't deny that the connection to Deadpool had sparked something in her—a new perspective that was both disorienting and exhilarating.
Meanwhile, Deadpool was feeling the effects of their D-Link in his own way. With each strike of his katanas, he could feel Aqua's magic weaving through him, amplifying his attacks. As he slashed through another agent, he felt a sudden surge of power, as if the energy within him was about to explode.
"Huh, that's new," he muttered just before the next swing of Bea sent a bolt of electricity arcing through the air. The agent he struck didn't just fall apart—he practically disintegrated as a powerful Thundaga spell activated, coursing through Bea and Arthur, turning them into electrified katanas.
Deadpool stared at his sparking blades in awe.
"Holy crap! Did I just become a walking lightning storm? This is awesome!" He swung again, sending another bolt of electricity crackling through the air, frying three more agents in a single blow.
Aqua, catching a glimpse of his new ability, couldn't help but smile.
"Looks like you've got some magic of your own now," Aqua exclaimed, watching in amazement as Deadpool's katanas crackled with electrical energy.
Deadpool grinned, spinning Bea and Arthur in a flashy display as arcs of electricity danced along the blades.
"Oh yeah, this is what I'm talking about! I'm like Thor, but without the hammer and way more stylish. These guys are toast!"
As if on cue, one of the DMSI agents came charging toward Deadpool, baton raised. Without missing a beat, Deadpool pointed Bea directly at the agent as he channeled the Thundaga spell.
"Hey, you know what happens to crappy knockoff TVA Minuteman when they're struck by lightning?" he asked, his voice dripping with meta amusement.
The agent barely had time to react before Deadpool unleashed the Thundaga, a bolt of pure energy shooting out from his katana and striking the agent dead-on.
The agent was instantly engulfed in a blinding flash of light, their form exploding into darkness as the Thundaga tore through them. With a smug satisfaction, Deadpool finished the quote, watching the aftermath.
"Same thing that happens to everything else that gets hit by lightning."
Aqua shook her head, both impressed and slightly baffled by Deadpool's nonchalance.
"You're really enjoying this, aren't you?" she asked, her tone a mix of curiosity and disbelief.
"Oh, your sweet voice actor, I am," Deadpool replied with a mischievous grin, his attention snapping back to the remaining agents who were regrouping for another attack. "But we need to act fast. If I recall correctly from my many hours of Birth By Sleep, the D-Link gauge drains quickly."
"A gauge?" Aqua asked, genuinely confused. "I don't know about a gauge, but yes, the time linked is limited."
"Tomato, tomahto!" Deadpool replied. "Point is, we're on the clock. Let's make these last moments count before our epic team-up runs out of juice!"
Without missing a beat, they both launched into action, each move precise and synchronized, taking full advantage of the power boost from the D-Link. As they fought, the connection between them felt like it was growing stronger, but Aqua could sense the link beginning to wane, the magical bond gradually weakening.
Deadpool felt it too, but he wasn't about to let it go to waste.
"Let's give these guys a final show!" he shouted, slicing through two more agents with electrified katanas, sparks flying in all directions.
Aqua nodded, pushing herself to unleash one last powerful spell, channeling everything she had left in the D-Link.
"Right behind you!" she exclaimed.
Together, they unleashed a coordinated attack that sent the remaining agents reeling, the battlefield lighting up with a dazzling display of magic and might. The last of the DMSI forces fell, consumed by the darkness from which they were formed, leaving Aqua and Deadpool standing victorious.
As the D-Link finally dissipated, the glow around them faded, and Deadpool let out a breath, sheathing his katanas with a satisfied smirk.
"And that, Aqua, is how you make the most of a time-limited power-up," Deadpool said, his voice brimming with satisfaction as he surveyed the now-empty battlefield.
Aqua smiled, still catching her breath from the intense battle.
"We make a good team, Deadpool. Even though you are somewhat... unusual."
"That we do, Keyblade Master," Deadpool replied with a grin, sliding Bea and Arthur back into their sheaths on his back. He paused for a moment, listening to the fading notes of "Vim & Vigor" as the once-pounding music began to slow and soften. "And hey, the music's slowing down and becoming more quiet—that means we took care of these creeps. Classic victory cue."
Aqua couldn't help but chuckle at his observation, still getting used to his strange but somehow comforting perspective.
"I suppose that's one way to know the battle's over. Even if I can't hear anything..."
"Exactly! It's like the universe's way of giving us a thumbs-up," Deadpool said, gesturing around as if the world itself was acknowledging their victory. "Now, let's keep the momentum going and find Cross before she tries to throw another batch of these darkness knockoffs at us. But first... how about a crisp high five?"
Aqua hesitated for a split second before smiling and raising her hand to meet his in a high five. It was a small but significant gesture, a sign that despite all the differences between them, they really did make a good team.
However, as the last notes of the battle's music faded and calm seemed to return to the near-destroyed Land of Departure, the peace was abruptly shattered by the appearance of more DMSI agents emerging from freshly formed Dark Corridors.
"Oh, give me a shitting break..." Deadpool groaned, rolling his eyes in exaggerated frustration.
Aqua, already back on alert, gripped Rainfell tightly.
"Come on, Deadpool, we need to stop them before they overwhelm us."
Deadpool, however, turned away from the encroaching threat and faced the reader with a knowing look.
"Actually, I think we're about to be pulled out of this situation. You know, typical way to move the plot forward. Convenient timing, right?"
Aqua glanced at him, utterly confused.
"What are you talking about?" she questioned.
Before Deadpool could elaborate, a voice, commanding and dripping with wicked intent, echoed through the shattered remains of the Land of Departure, stopping everyone in their tracks.
"Enough!"
Suddenly, green flames erupted around the new agents, encircling them in a fiery inferno. The flames licked at their dark forms, and in an instant, they were incinerated, their bodies disintegrating into particles of darkness that faded into the air.
Aqua and Deadpool stared at the spectacle, both equally stunned.
"Well, that escalated quickly," Deadpool quipped, his white eye lenses slightly raising.
Aqua, still processing what had just happened, turned to Deadpool.
"That voice… those green flames… it can only be one person."
"Yep, that's the voice of Susanne Blakeslee, folks," Deadpool announced, turning to the reader with a knowing grin. "Which means… we're in the presence of the one and only Mistress of All Evil herself. Cue the dramatic music!"
As if on cue, Maleficent emerged from the fading green flames, her presence as commanding and menacing as ever. The air seemed to grow colder as her dark, regal form materialized, her eyes locking onto Deadpool with a gaze that could cut through steel.
"You know," Deadpool said, giving Maleficent an appraising look, "I was kinda hoping to see Angelina Jolie, but... I guess you'll do."
Maleficent's expression remained stone-cold, her eyes narrowing ever so slightly. It was clear that Deadpool's quip had done nothing to amuse her. In fact, the icy glare she leveled at him could have frozen lava.
"Oh, your eyes," Deadpool remarked, feigning a wince and clutching his chest as if wounded. "It's like being stabbed repeatedly… and not in the fun way." He recovered quickly. "So, anyway, I guess you're still alive and kicking in this near-broken universe. Nice to see you're staying on brand."
Maleficent's gaze shifted to Aqua, clearly uninterested in Deadpool's antics.
"I see you've found yourself a chattering fool, Aqua," she said, her voice dripping with disdain.
Aqua, keeping her guard up, gave a small nod.
"He's… unconventional, but he's on my side," she explained.
Deadpool couldn't resist jumping in.
"That's right! The chattering fool who also happens to be incredibly good at kicking butt, breaking the fourth wall, and delivering witty one-liners. I'm like the complete package, really. I am, Kingdom Hearts Jesus."
Maleficent's lip curled slightly, though whether it was a smile or a sneer was hard to tell.
"Unconventional indeed. But I suppose even fools have their uses, especially in a place like this."
Deadpool placed a hand over his heart in mock sincerity.
"Oh, Maleficent, you're making me blush. Keep it up, and I might start thinking you actually like me."
"I very much doubt that, you simple-minded fool," Maleficent replied coldly, her voice dripping with disdain.
"Ouch…" Deadpool muttered under his breath. "Right in the childhood."
Aqua, sensing the rising tension, stepped forward, her gaze focused solely on Maleficent.
"Why are you here?" she asked, her tone firm and unyielding.
Maleficent turned her icy gaze to Aqua, her expression as calculating as ever.
"Well, my dear corrupted Keyblade Master, I had planned on ending you myself, for all the troubles you've caused the universe. The one I was supposed to rule."
"Oh please," Deadpool scoffed, barely able to suppress a chuckle. "Let's be honest, Mistress of Evil, you haven't been relevant since Kingdom Hearts Uno."
Maleficent's eyes narrowed dangerously, her patience visibly thinning.
"You dare mock me?" she shouted in anger.
Deadpool, oblivious to the growing danger, continued to rattle on.
"Sure, you were a great villain back then, only second fiddle to Ansem. And Re:Coded, okay, I'll let that one slide," he added with a dismissive wave. "But apart from that, you've been on this wild goose chase for a Black Box, which I guess you didn't find?"
The tension in the air was palpable as Maleficent's grip tightened on her staff, green flames flickering ominously at the tip. Aqua tensed, ready for a confrontation, but instead of lashing out, Maleficent took a slow, deliberate breath, regaining her composure.
"You are digging a hole you may not be able to climb out of, Wade Wilson," she warned, her voice low and menacing.
"Holy hell, you even know my name," Deadpool replied in genuine surprise, his white eye lenses widening as if they were raised eyebrows. "Do you do any other tricks, apart from making green fire and knowing how to play queen of second bananas to Xehanort?"
Maleficent's gaze hardened, the flickering flames around her staff intensifying.
"I do indeed know who you are, Wade Wilson, also known as The Deadpool," she replied, her voice cold and precise.
Deadpool, ever the provocateur, grinned beneath his mask.
"It's just Deadpool, Wanda..." he teased, deliberately twisting her name.
Maleficent's patience snapped, and with a wave of her staff, the green fires around her erupted, casting an eerie glow across the battlefield.
"Silence, mercenary!" she commanded, her voice booming with authority.
Deadpool raised his hands in mock surrender, still unable to resist one last jab.
"Yes… sorry, Timmy's mum…"
Aqua shot him a look, clearly torn between disbelief and exasperation.
"Deadpool, maybe now isn't the best time…"
"Fine," Deadpool said with a theatrical sigh of defeat. "So, spill it, Lady Tremaine, what's the deal? Why the change of heart?"
Aqua pinched the bridge of her nose, shaking her head slightly.
"That's not Lady Tre— you know what, forget it," she muttered, deciding it was best to just roll with Deadpool's antics for the sake of moving things along. She then turned her focus back to Maleficent, her expression serious. "But Deadpool is right. Why have you changed your mind about not stopping me earlier?"
Maleficent's eyes narrowed, and she seemed to consider Aqua's question carefully before answering.
"It is true that I once sought your end, Aqua, and perhaps I still do. But the situation has changed. The chaos unleashed by this entity, Cross, threatens to destroy more than just you or this world. It threatens the very balance of the universe—my universe."
Aqua listened intently, sensing that there was more to Maleficent's reasoning.
"Go on," she replied.
Maleficent's tone remained cold, but there was an undercurrent of calculated pragmatism in her words.
"While I despise the light and all it represents, I despise the utter annihilation of all that I seek to control even more. Cross's actions have made her a greater threat than you ever were, Aqua. If she succeeds, there will be nothing left for any of us—not even for me to rule."
Deadpool leaned in, clearly intrigued.
"So, basically, you're saying it's a 'better the devil you know' situation, huh? You're helping us because you want to protect your own interests."
"Precisely, mercenary," Maleficent affirmed, her tone leaving no room for doubt.
"Meh, can't argue with that," Deadpool replied with a casual shrug, as if teaming up with one of Disney's most infamous villains was just another Tuesday for him. He then turned to Aqua, his expression slightly more serious, though the mischief in his eyes never quite faded. "Looks like we've got ourselves a temporary ally, Keyblade Master. Let's make the most of it before she remembers how much she hates us."
Aqua nodded, acknowledging the uneasy alliance.
"Agreed. If it means stopping Cross, then we'll work together—for now," Aqua affirmed, her tone resolute.
Deadpool clapped his hands together, his enthusiasm bubbling back to the surface.
"Alright! Let's go kick some universe-threatening butt. And hey, maybe after this, we can discuss how to properly allocate villain screen time. I mean, come on, Maleficent, you deserve a bit more spotlight!"
Maleficent responded with an icy glare, her patience clearly wearing thin, but she said nothing. Instead, she raised her staff, and with a simple gesture, she summoned a Dark Corridor, the swirling vortex of shadows opening before them.
Without a word, Maleficent stepped toward the portal, clearly expecting them to follow. Deadpool and Aqua exchanged a glance, both of them fully aware of the precariousness of their situation. They knew this alliance was fragile at best, a temporary truce bound by necessity rather than trust.
Aqua met Deadpool's gaze, her expression serious.
"We have to be careful," she warned. "We might be working together now, but Maleficent is still dangerous."
Deadpool nodded, his tone surprisingly sober for a moment.
"Yeah, I get it. She's the kind of person who'll stab you in the back the second you turn around. But hey, for now, we're on the same side, and that's what counts."
Aqua offered a small, determined smile.
"We'll stay on guard," she said with caution. "Let's just make sure we're ready for whatever comes next."
Deadpool returned the smile, his usual confidence shining through.
"You got it, Keyblade Master. Let's go save the universe—and look good doing it!"
With that, they turned to follow Maleficent into the Dark Corridor, stepping into the unknown. As the swirling shadows enveloped them, they knew that the real battle was only just beginning, and the stakes had never been higher. But together, with their combined strengths—and maybe even a bit of unexpected teamwork—they were ready to face whatever challenges awaited them on the other side.
Meanwhile, back at the control center where the DMSI was stationed, the atmosphere was tense. The sleek, high-tech room was filled with screens displaying various feeds. In the center of it all, Evelyn Cross stood rigid, her icy gaze fixed on one particular screen where the image of Maleficent had just appeared, striding confidently alongside Aqua and Deadpool. Cross's expression darkened, fury seething just below the surface.
"Maleficent is still alive," she hissed, her voice laced with venom. Her mind raced with the implications.
The Mistress of All Evil was supposed to have been dealt with long ago, yet here she was, interfering with her plans.
She turned sharply to Stewart, her young but clearly nervous executive, who was busy working on something at his station. The moment he felt her gaze on him, he stiffened, his fingers faltering on the keyboard.
"Stewart!" Cross snapped, her voice cutting through the room like a blade. "Make a call to the DDC."
Stewart, trying to maintain composure, glanced up at her, confused.
"You mean, the Disney Catering Department?"
Cross's eyes narrowed dangerously.
"No, you idiot, that's the DCD! I mean the DDC—Disney Damage Control!"
Realisation dawned on Stewart's face, and he quickly nodded, fumbling for the comms.
"Right, of course, the DDC," he stammered, quickly tapping into the secure communication line.
As he did, Cross turned away, her mind racing. The DDC was one of the more secretive branches within the vast corporate web of the Walt Disney Company, much like the DMSI. Officially, they handled all manner of crises that threatened the pristine image of the Disney brand—be it a PR nightmare, an internal scandal, or, in this case, a universal catastrophe. Unofficially, they were problem solvers, enforcers, and in some cases, creators of new, highly classified technologies and projects that were beyond the public's knowledge.
The DDC and DMSI had been working together on something—a project that was designed specifically to handle extraordinary threats. Something powerful enough to turn the tide, to ensure that no force, not even one as unpredictable as Deadpool or as powerful as a Keyblade Master, could stand in their way.
Stewart, now visibly sweating, glanced back at Cross.
"I've got them on the line, ma'am."
Cross approached, her demeanor icy and controlled once more. She paused for a moment, considering her next words carefully, knowing the weight they carried. This operation had been in the works for a long time—carefully orchestrated by the DMSI and DDC, combining their resources and expertise to create something truly formidable. Something that could neutralize even the most resilient of threats.
"Good," she said, her voice cold and precise. "Tell them to initiate Operation Starlight Eclipse."
Stewart hesitated for a split second, the name sending a chill down his spine. He'd heard whispers of this operation, rumors that it involved something—or rather, someone—pulled from the very fabric of the Kingdom Hearts universe. But the specifics were kept so tightly under wraps that even he wasn't privy to the full details.
Cross, sensing his hesitation, shot him a piercing look.
"Now, Stewart," she demanded.
He swallowed hard and quickly relayed the command into the secure comms line.
"Initiate Operation Starlight Eclipse. Authorization code: DMSI-XX-47."
On the other end, there was a brief silence, followed by a calm, mechanical voice acknowledging the order.
"Operation Starlight Eclipse is now active. Proceeding with Phase One."
As the connection closed, Cross's lips curled into a knowing smile, one that hinted at the secret she alone held. Starlight Eclipse was no ordinary operation. It was the culmination of the DDC and DMSI's darkest ambitions—a project centered around a beloved figure from the Kingdom Hearts universe, one who had been twisted and corrupted for their own purposes.
Cross watched the screens with a sense of satisfaction, her mind already envisioning the chaos that would unfold.
"Let's see how they handle this," she murmured to herself, her eyes glinting with ruthless anticipation.
Operation Starlight Eclipse would not only test Deadpool and Aqua's strength but also challenge the very bonds of friendship and heart that they held dear.
