Chapter 3

"Mama!" John's little voice cried in excitement.

Amy peaked her eyes open and smiled. Smiling back at her was her sweet little boy.

"Hi, baby." She said, opening the covers to let him in.

He crawled up next to her and snuggled into her.

"Oh I missed you." She squeezed the little boy tighter to her.

"Miss you." He responded "Home?" He asked

"I…" Amy wasn't sure how to respond. She was home but she wasn't going to be staying here.

"Hey buddy. Let's get breakfast." Ricky called John from the other room at the perfect time.

"No." John whined, refusing to let go of Amy.

"Wanna eat in bed?" Ricky offered, bringing over a plate of eggs and sausage.

The smell hit Amy's nose and she felt it again. The overwhelming desire to vomit. She took a deep breath and made her way to the bathroom as calmly as she could. She barely made it before her body's urge to vomit took over. She tried her best to keep it down. There was no reason to alarm anyone. It could just be bad airplane food.

She quickly splashed water on her face and rinsed her mouth before returning to Ricky and John.

Ricky was dressed in his white shirt and jeans. It was summer, he had to work. HE gave her a quizzical look when she reentered the room.

"If you need to shower, I've got a couple minutes." He offered.

John was happily munching away on his breakfast, watching cartoons. Amy nodded her head. Amy pulled clothes out of her suitcase and made her way to the bathroom.

She turned the shower on and was surprised. All of her soaps and shampoos were right where she had left them. He hadn't even removed her stuff from the shower. She quickly showered and wrapped her hair in a towel.

When she came back into the living room, John was fully dressed and ready for the day.

"Today is a half day." Ricky informed Amy. "I'd like John back here in time for bedtime. I don't want to throw him off his schedule."

"Yeah… yeah, of course." Amy replied. "I think we are just going to go to the park and maybe see Grandpa George."

"Alright. You two have fun. Love you." Ricky said

"Love you too." Amy replied without thinking.

"That was for John." Ricky smirked before he left the apartment leaving a blushing Amy in the living room.

Amy and John spent the morning at the park. He played until he was completely worn out and ready for his nap. Before heading back to Ricky's apartment she stopped by the corner store and grabbed a test.

She carried asleep John into the butcher shop, trying to hide the pink and white box in her purse. She made her way past Bunny. Bunny's eye caught the brightly colored box in Amy's purse. She raised an eyebrow. Amy's eyes pleaded with her to not say anything. Bunny held her finger up over her pursed lips, silently promising to keep the secret.

"I'll be up in 30 minutes." Ricky called after Amy.

"Okay." 30 minutes. That was all she had.

She laid John down in his bed and raced to the bathroom. She locked the door behind her and pulled the test out of her purse. Her heart was racing. How could she be so stupid to let this happen again?

She unwrapped the test and dipped it. Before she even capped the test and set it on the counter, it was positive. The pink lines staring right at her.

Her heart dropped. She felt like she was 15 all over again and found out she was pregnant with John. She had just moved to New York and started school there. J

How was she going to tell everyone that she was pregnant again at only 18 years old? How was she going to tell Ricky?

She sank to the floor and cried.

"Mama?" A little voice called. John was up from his nap. Without thinking about the evidence that was all around her she opened the door.

John was calling from the living room. She went and sat next to him on the couch.

"What's up Buddy?" She said, wiping her tears off her cheeks.

"Daddy home?" He asked her.

"Not yet." She rubbed the top of his head. She loved John more than anything in the world but how would she manage another baby?

Just then the door opened and Ricky walked in.

"Hey." He said as he walked towards the bathroom, presumably to take a shower after work.

Amy's heart raced as she realized that she left the evidence out in the open. Sitting right on the bathroom counter was the little test that would tell Ricky she was pregnant before she got the chance too.

"A-amy?" Ricky's voice shook.

He stood in the hallway, holding the pregnancy test up in his hands. The devastated look in his eyes broke Amy's heart. All Amy could do was let out a cry.

"Is it Ben's?" Tears began to slide down his cheeks.
