...Vergil...Dante...
...Happy Birthday...
...Woah...
...Cool...
...I want chocolate...
...No...I want chocolate...
Feeling a light breeze and an intense heat a pair of blue eyes revealed themselves to the world. A sea of light blue accompanied by a shining yellow sun was all that they could process. Strands of white hair began covering it's vision as a hand in a brown fingerless glove wipes them clear out the way. Sitting up from the ground the person in question was revealed to be the non other than Dante's older brother Vergil.
A decent amount of sand covered his body, must've been out for sometime. He tried to sit up but his back cracked painfully as he realized he was lying down on stone. He decided to wait for a bit before getting up fully.
*Cough*
*Cough*
Spitting out sand he was unaware of out of his mouth the Son of Sparda took in his surroundings. Sand stretching out for miles and miles around. Vergil frowned as he recalled the events prior to this. He lost to Dante, he clenched his fist in frustration. What else, ahh yes his amulet...HIS AMULET. He checked his person and was relieved to find it in his pocket.
Taking out the red gemstone wrought in gold he gazed at it.
Back at the Hellgate he was in too much pain to notice his amulet fall off his neck and into the shallow water. At the same time, portals of all kinds started to appear. When he saw it get carried into one of the portals his body became still as stone.
It was their last birthday they spent together when she gave it to them. How it sparkles against the light and the way it just fits around his neck perfectly despite his size. It was the greatest gift he'd ever received.
With the little bit of energy he had in him the older twin sprinted to the portal fearing it would close.
Now was it foolish of him for going in without a second thought? Quite frankly yes but he wasn't gonna let the gift from someone he deeply loved get lost forever.
Feeling his back fully healed Vergil stood up with perfect posture and shook off the remaining sand that clung to his body. However, sand being sand some amount still held on much to his annoyance.
The sunshine bathing his skin reminded the darkslayer that he was never one to tan. Spending most of his time indoors as a child only ever going out with family or training, his mother always loved to tease him about it. Even Dante joined in saying that he'll drive a stake to his heart if his older brother ever becomes a vampire. Vergil smiled at the thought, those were simpler times.
If only he were stronger maybe things would've been different.
Sighing he reached for Yamato in order t- he patted his side and looked to his hip. His eyes widened in shock as the katana given to him by his father wasn't there. Fearing for the worst he summoned his weaponry with only Force Edge appearing. He hastily grabbed it with an iron grip. Good, at least he still has that.
Vergil placed Force Edge on his back as he turned around to where he first woke up. He started digging everywhere in hopes Yamato was just buried somewhere.
Nothing came up except more sand.
"DAMMIT, DAMMIT, DAMMIT. WHERE COULD IT BE?" Vergil yelled angrily. After two minutes of continuous digging he stopped and took deep breaths until he was calm. With crossed arms the darkslayer trudged around "Think Vergil think, what happened after you entered through the portal?"
New pieces of memory began to surface.
Putting all his remaining strength Vergil closed the distance between him and his amulet rather quickly than he thought. Once his hand gripped the demonic piece of jewelry a wave of relief came over him. He felt a huge push against him before realizing the problem he was in. He tried to stop his momentum even using his Darkslayer style to no avail. The older twin looked back from where he came only to find the entrance of the tunnel has vanished.
Leaving a pissed off Vergil with no choice but to wait it out. He took in the colors of the tunnel, it had every color imaginable as it shined brightly against his eyes. The spiked-haired man had to cover his vision.
Force Edge faded away in a blue fog since it was not in use with Yamato starting to shake from his hip.
Not wanting to chase after it in this force not to mention his weakened state from his fight with his twin, Vergil shoved his amulet in his pocket and gripped Yamato off his hip.
Luckily for his sight, the light seemed to finally dim down as another portal opened up in the distance. As Vergil approached the end of this little adventure the lights around him began to morph into images. Perplexed by this Vergil made his way closer, images he was able to make out depicted various things such as an amusement park, a long white-haired girl with various parts of her body coated in black, and a...giant white statue of a bald woman in the middle of a city.
Bewildered at what he was witnessing Vergil pinched his nose wondering what exactly did he put himself into. Soon enough his body drifted to the exit and was met with a huge wave of force engulfing him.
"HMPH!" Vergil grunted as he tried to subside the pain but with the state he was in it wasn't possible. His eyes began to feel heavy. The impact of the force made Vergil lose grip of Yamato as sleep began to take over. The last thing he saw was his katana falling to his far right over a dune.
He hit the ground hard. Landing on his back shattering his spine, knocking him out cold.
"Aww yes. I had Yamato in my hands so it won't separate from me, how ironic." Vergil humored to himself. Placing the amulet around his neck he ran off toward's Yamato's last known location.
To say Vergil was mad would be an understatement, he was absolutely FURIOUS! His veins were showing, his eyes were bloodshot, an intimidating blue aura radiating off him. His vision momentarily became a dark blue before he faced the sky.
"AAAAAAHHHH!" he shouted at such a loud volume that it could be heard from miles away.
Having cooled down, the blue-clad man looked back at what he is seeing.
Instead of finding Yamato he found a bunch of footprints imprinted onto the sand. Having such an unworthy person wield a sword of great power disgusted him. He'll hunt them down and make sure to show them a devil's true power. Hardest part about this is finding who's footprints to follow as this site seems to be a popular walking site of many travelers. Getting closer Vergil noticed something unusual, instead of normal shoe prints many were big and round. This raised his brow at just who actually inhabits this land.
Eventually, Vergil found a set of normal footprints coming in and out of the site with a thin trail beside it which made him chuckle. Whoever took his katana wasn't strong enough to even lift it. Sure it held the power to cut through almost anything but it still weighed as much as any other blade.
Oh how fun it will be when he rips them apart.
Vergil began his trek across the dunes but he sensed an all too familiar energy that it would be foolish of him to not recognize who it was. Yet he couldn't pinpoint exactly where. He smirked menacingly as he kept on running.
"So little brother, you're here as well. I can't wait for our rematch."
[Bunker]
"Is that all?"
"Just one, the subject was associated with being in red."
'Red?'
"Thank you for informing me Anemone, I'll look into it. Send the coordinates of it's last known location." she told the Resistance leader. Her voice was stern and gave off a feeling of high authority.
"Sending them now." Anemone said.
A pop-up message from her HUD indicated that the information was received.
"Coordinates received. I'll take it from here Anemone." the stern voice told her as it was revealed they were on a call using their HUDS.
"Oh and White I know about your rules and all but can you please report once you find out what we could be dealing with here. I don't wanna be kept in the dark about this one." Anemone told the individual now known as White.
"..." White had on her normal look she gave to everyone else as she was in deep thought.
"I can't guarantee it until we fully understand who or whatever it is." White addressed her. Anemone inwardly sighed at White's statement.
"I understand." the Resistance leader said reluctantly.
"Thank you for agreeing. Glory to Mankind!" White chanted with her left arm positioned at her chest before she ended the call.
The information given by Anemone gave her a slight headache. Rubbing at her temples she brought out her mirror that she keeps on her person at all times.
Her green eyes gave off a fierce gaze. Adorned on the sides of her head were golden headwear. Blond hair ran down her back. Covering her neck and down was a white, military style dress that parts ways at her thighs completed with gold accessories. Encasing her legs were stockings made of high-quality material with heels at her feet. Imprinted on the sides of her shoulders was the insignia of her faction, she wore gloves as well with her free hand gripping a riding crop.
Her appearance looked angelic yet cold at the same time.
She's the head of Command of the YoRHa faction, a military force of androids dedicated in the destruction of all machine lifeforms. She's in charge of everything that goes on in the bunker, one of 13 orbital bases outside of Earth's atmosphere. Aside from the bunker the other 12 are controlled by the Army of Humanity and are scattered throughout different parts of the planet's atmosphere.
White puts away her mirror before shifting her gaze around the room, a giant screen covered the front with rows upon rows of holographic computer monitors filling in the majority of the space. Occupying said computers were female androids adorned in black garments that covered every part of their body from the neck down. They had on veils leaving only the upper half of their faces visible. These are Operator units, tasked with assigning and monitoring YoRHa units on Earth with assignments approved to them by Command.
"Are you alright Commander?" someone addressing White by her proper title asked from behind.
White turned around to see one of her battle units. A gothic lolita dress covered her torso with an opening at her cleavage and back. The bottom half of her body consisted of black stockings and heels. Black and white gloves went all the way up to her forearms. Short white hair stopped at her ears with a black blindfold covering her eyes.
Despite her vision looking concealed she is able to make her way to Commander no problem. Floating at her side was a rectangular grey machine with gold joints. Built in the bottom were 4 arm-like limbs, 2 smaller than the others. It kept pace with her as it twitched its claw-like fingers.
"Everything's fine 2B. I'm guessing that your mission was a success." White speculated.
"Yes, Commander. He...didn't put up much of a fight this time around." 2B answered stoically but the blonde noticed her pause.
"You seem troubled 2B? Do you need to go under maintenance?" the battle unit looked at her for a second, as if she was debating about her answer.
"No, Commander. The mission went as smoothly as I expected. Pod took a scan of my body before arriving with no irregularities detected." White looked unconvinced, but surprisingly she placed her hand on 2B's shoulder.
"You're a very important asset in our operations. It would be detrimental for us if we start receiving lackluster performances from you. I hope you know that 2B."
The battle unit was a little taken back by the blonde's words. It wasn't enough to ease the feeling deep within her but she knew the importance of her role and the effect it can have on everything. "I'm very well aware of my duty Commander. I won't let anything get in my way of completing my missions. Emotions after all are prohibited."
The blonde smiled, satisfied with her answer and returned her hand back to her side. Commander went back to her personal HUD and typed away.
"Glad to hear. I know it's very soon but I have another assignment for you while he goes under maintenance."
2B had on her usual face but on the inside she still felt the same. Maybe...maybe this could help take her mind off things. She waited for the blonde to continue.
"Recently I have received reports of abnormal events happening on Earth. I'm going to send a team to investigate, including you." White informed her.
'Abnormal events.' 2B thought.
"Does this have to do with the machines?" She asked her, the blonde stopped typing and faced her.
"It's...something we don't fully have a grasp on. I'll be sending further details once I get everything ready, for now go do as you wish. Your operator will let you know when it's time. Am I understood?"
"Yes. Everything's coherent. I'll be off then Commander. Glory to Mankind." 2B ended with the gesture. White copied her.
"Glory to Mankind."
2B left the operating room whilst White watched her retreating form.
'Glory To Mankind!' White mentally repeated. Inwardly she sighed at those words. It's her faction's mantra, to heavily remind her android soldiers of who they're fighting for. Earth has been taken over by the machines, mindless robots created by the aliens. Their at war, a war that will determine the fate of the planet and the humans living on the moon.
"Humans..." she whispered. Her words weren't audible to anyone except herself but they were filled with sorrow. Humans, what a strange and fascinating species. They've possessed a gift that no other animal had before. This gift enabled them to take control of Earth and become the dominant group.
However, with their gift also came with dispute.
Being the top clan of Earth also led to disagreement amongst each other. Whether it be of principle, property, or rank, it always led to conflict. Which then leads to people becoming rebellious which escalates the conflict and eventually war will break out.
This is only one of the many things White has yet to fully understand about humanity, some things they've fought over seemed so insignificant in the grand scheme of things.
She chuckled, it had similarities to that of a lion whenever his position as leader of the pact is challenged. Perhaps humans aren't so different from animals afterall, maybe its just part of their "human nature" to disagree, to act rebellious, to act violent.
Humans, what a strange and fascinating species.
Once the Androids find an exploit hopefully they'll be able to finally rid the world of the mindless, murderous units. Then the humans can come back and every Android who took part in this ever-lasting war can finally be at peace.
It sounded pretty straight forward. The Androids would finally be able to meet their creators and happily serve and be by their side until the end of days. They considered them as their gods and is the only reason why the machines haven't fully conquered the planet but White grimaced at the thought.
She knew it, and so did a few others.
'If only..'
Feeling a huge amount of stress White told her operators to keep on working before going to her personal quarters. Once inside she ignored the various articles of clothing on the floor and walked up to her window showcasing Earth. Despite it all the planet will always be one to admire in its natural beauty.
It brought a smile up to her face but then her artificial eyes shifted near a certain side of the planet, in a certain ocean.
...WHY DID U DO IT...
"We needed the dat-"
...IS THAT ALL WE ARE TO YOU...JUST LITTLE DOLLS FOR YOU TO THROW AWAY ONCE YOUR DONE WITH US...
"NO...It's just-"
...SO WHAT IS IT THEN...
"..."
...FUCK YOU AND FUCK YORHA...
How she remembered those words so vividly.
White walked towards her bed. Even though she didn't need sleep, it can do wonders for the body. One such thing is improving mental state which is what White is mentally yearning for. Stripping off her outfit she wrapped her covers around her naked body. Sinking her head on the pillow she turned off all her audio receptors and drifted off.
[Later]
*Ring*
*Ring*
*Ring*
"Recommendation: 2B should stop ignoring incoming transmission from Operator 6O." A mechanical, masculine tone said.
Lifting her head up 2B looked at her Pod from her balled-up position on the floor. Taking a moment to unwrap her arms from her knees she fully got up from the ground.
Her blue eyes glanced over the light scratches on the marble-white floor and landed onto her mirror. Dry streaks of oily tears stained her face, her once delicate and well kept hair was now an utter mess, her clothes had tears showing off parts of her body not visible from before. 2B turned and looked around her room; books were scattered everywhere, her chair was thrown to the other side of the room, her pillows were ripped apart. The walls within were soundproof so she didn't have to worry about any unwanted attention.
She ignored all of this as she went to her drawers and picked out a set of new clothes. After changing, the android grabbed some wipes from the floor and cleaned her face. 2B was so caught up in what she was doing she forgot to take in account that the call request from 6O ended.
"Operator 6O is now currently on her way." Pod 042 warned her.
Gasping at the news 2B quickly made her way out of her room so she wouldn't witness the state of her quarters.
Now in the hallway 2B turned to her left and could see an operator with blonde braids running towards her at a fast pace.
"2B, WHY WEREN'T YOU ANSWERING ME?" 6O yelled in a child-like demeanor as she confronted the android.
"My apologies 6O, I was currently asleep with my audio receptors disabled." 2B lied in an even tone.
"DON'T DO IT NEXT TIME! COMMANDER WAS STARING AT ME WHEN I LEFT! I FELT AS IF SHE WAS GONNA HIT ME RIGHT AS I WALKED PAST HER!" she said as she was on the verge of tears.
"I'm sorry, it won't happen again." 2B told her. Despite her monotone voice the blonde calmed down from her words. Done with her outbreak the Operator continued.
"I hope you won't I get really scared when you don't answer. About the mission, Commander has assigned you to investigate this strange anomaly that appeared on Earth." 6O describes.
"Just head to the hangar. A team has been waiting for you so I would hurry if I were you."
"Thank you 6O." The quiet android told her as she turned her back heading towards the hangar.
"Oh and 2B." the operator called to her stopping 2B in her tracks.
"What is it?" 2B asked.
"I know it might be much but...when your down there...c-can y-you take a..."the operator stumbled, as if she about to ask for something illegal.
"Take what?" 2B said in a icy tone. 6O flinched but clenched her fists together and brought them to up her face with her eyes closed.
"Can you take a picture of a zinnia for me? They look so beautiful on the data banks but I want my own personal one." she finally admitted.
"..." the silence was deafening.
"I can't guarantee it." 2B stated as she resumed her walk. Leaving 6O in shock with her eyes widened. Usually when she asks her for a favor the battle unit always turned it down, stating it wasn't essential for combat data and to look it up on the their data banks.
This time she's considering it, it's not like her to do that. Now having a chance of finally getting something she wanted, 6O squealed in delight and ran back to her work station.
Using the elevator 2B and Pod finally made her way to the hangar. Stepping out of the elevator she walked towards the end. At her sides many YoRHa units were talking amongst each other. A good amount had no skin revealing their exoskeleton, others had recently came back from Earth due to grime staining their bodies, some were just staring at her. This unsettled her but 2B carried on and reached the isolated part of the hangar where 5 androids were waiting for her.
Behind them were six Flight Units, manufactured by YoRHa themselves. They served as 1 of 2 ways of traveling to Earth and back. It was also used to engage in aerial combat. 5 units were the same shade of black while the last one was white signifying that it was used by the leader of the squadron.
Her team were all female and had a similar style of clothing as 2B. Their hairstyle and color being the most unique trait amongst them.
"WHAT THE HELL TOOK YOU SO LONG?" an android taller than 2B with long red hair yelled.
"Hey take it easy 7E." Another android with equal height said putting her hand on 7E. She had medium-length blue hair and looked at 2B ensuring nothing will happen.
"Yeah...1-11B's right you should s-stop l-letting your anger overtake you." a child-sized brunette with a pony tail sitting on top of a flight unit uttered shyly.
"BE QUIET 12H. UNLIKE THE REST OF US THIS ONE DOESN'T SEEM TO UNDERSTAND THE CONCEPT OF TIME!" 7E continued yelling, 12H cowered back, fearing what the redhead might do to her if given the chance.
"That's enough 7E. Do I need to report this behavior to your operator?" Said the leader of the squadron. She had the same hairstyle as 2B but black and was just a tad bit shorter than 11B and 7E. The redhead widened at her words and immediately dropped all her anger.
"Apologies 1D. I'll...I'll try to work on my anger issues." 7E addressed to the captain as 11B removed her hand.
The last android walked besides 2B and nudged her. 2B looked to her right and saw a spitting image of herself, with the exception of her hair wrapped in a bun.
"Don't worry despite her temper she means well." Her almost identical twin assured her with a smile. 2B just nodded in response.
"2B and 4B get over here now. Commander should be giving us the report any minute now." 1D ordered.
Making their way to the captain all gathered around waiting for their boss to inform them about a new mission different from what they usually do. Seconds later, an incoming call came from 1D's Pod, she answered and the blonde famous for her cold stare appeared.
"Hello fellow YoRHa units, I've received reports about a strange event that occurred miles away from the Resistance Camp lead by their leader. She described something associated with red falling in close proximity to the machines. Your mission is to go to the last known location and investigate. If it's a new weapon from the machines destroy it, we can't let the enemy get the upper hand. I'll be sending coordinates shortly, any questions?" Commander questioned.
"No, Ma'am." They all responded.
"Good. Glory to Mankind." She gestured.
"Glory to Mankind." They copied.
The call ended and all androids entered their assigned flight carriers.
"This is 1D requesting permission to exit the Bunker." 1D radioed over to the android in charge of the hangar.
"Permission granted." A voice said opening up the hatch door.
All flights units took off in high-velocity as they entered the desolate planet's atmosphere. Unaware of the sight they will soon witness.
