[City Ruins]

"This is Operator 42O. All units confirmed."

"1D to Operator we've passed through Earth's atmosphere and are proceeding towards the destination."

"Noted, we've just received news of explosions accompanied by loud noises near the target's place of origin." 42O stated. Before the captain could respond up ahead were multiple machine lifeforms. "Detecting multiple enemy units ahead. Requesting mobile configuration."

"Permission granted."

All Flight Units morphed in appearance as they got closer to the machines. 7E was the first to attack swinging her energy blade into a couple of Small Flyers followed by 4B doing the same to another 4 at the front. 12H stayed in the back firing her blast cannons at 10 machine units coming in from behind with the help of 1D. 2B took care of the left side attacking and firing with 11B doing the same on the right. The machine lifeforms weren't enough to slow them down as the squadron eliminated their numbers quickly.

Within minutes the machines were no more as the squadron returned to formation and proceeded to their destination.

"Haha. What a joke." 7E said mockingly, effectively breaking the silence.

"I...actually agree with you 7E. They weren't much of a threat." 4B sided with the redhead.

"I would've taken them down all on my own without y'all." The cocky android said to her squadron.

"Hey, now's not the time for that." 11B said.

"Oh be quiet 11B. Your just jealous that I get more credit back at the bunker." 7E said with confidence. The bluehead however, smirked and countered back with surprise ammo.

"Oh like the time you confused the human practice of mating with the practice of sports and went all around the bunker challenging anyone who could shove the most amount of balls down their-"

"IT WAS THE OPERATOR'S FAULT FOR GIVING ME FALSE INFORMATION AND YOU KNOW IT!" 7E yelled over the comms along with the laughter of 12H and 4B.

"Was that...why 16S was quiet for a week...after that one mission you spent...with him doing recon in...the forest? You must've forced...him into it, poor kid." 4B teasingly asked between chuckles.

"SH-SHUT UP!"

If it wasn't for their flight units 7E would've had a hard time hiding her face that now matches her hair. Curse her creators for adding such a useless function to her artificial skin.

Before they could continue the teasing 1D butted in.

"THAT'S ENOUGH! We're approaching our destination. Be prepared, this area is known to house many enemy units." The captain informed them as the banter among them died out fast.

Getting closer to the field the 6 Flight Units scanned for the whereabouts of their target. Only to come up short as they're nowhere to be seen. Touching the ground and deactivating thrusters, the pilots hopped out and onto the scene.

When the Commander told them of the subject in red they wouldn't have ever expected it to be capable of dealing this much level of damage.

Corpses upon corpses of machines riddled throughout the field. On one side ice shards were melting away as it's victims were still hanging. In the back was fresh smoke rising from the ashes of burnt grass, rock, and pieces of machine. Even though those were enough to make them weary of the potential danger none of them were prepared for the corpses of Medium Flyers and Goliath Bipeds still burning. Seeing this the squadron drew out their weapons in case of the subject decided to return.

"T-this couldn't h-h-have b-b-been that red thing C-Commander told us about right?" 12H stuttered scared by the massive amount of dead machines.

"Don't be ridiculous, of course it was. Who else would've done this?" said 7E sternly but deep down fear was rising in her.

"What's frightening is that the target was able to down multiple Goliath Bipeds at once." commented 11B feeling a wave of chill rush through her.

"Oh yeah how about those huge ice daggers over there. How were they able to do that? We're nowhere close to the arctic and those seem to grown from the ground." 4B exclaimed, pointing at said ice.

2B remained silent as she stared at the corpses.

What could she say honestly, for someone to do all of this on their own was mind-boggling. It would've taken her a good amount of effort to come out of this unscathed. They had to have assistance with them right? It's the only thing that made sense to her. But at least seeing dead bodies of the enemy gave her some relief.

"You feel that right?" 4B asked, who was answered by the bluehead "Yeah, we all do."

The women could feel a jolt of weak electricity lingering in the air.

Just what are they dealing with?

With a grunt the captain walked back to her flight unit. The rest turned to her as she got in.

"We can now confirm that the target isn't associated with the machines. 2B investigate the place of origin, the rest of y'all scan and analyze anything that can be of use here. I'll check around the perimeter to see if the target is still close by. Report anything you find to me first before sending it to the bunker. Am I understood?" The captain questioned.

"Yes Ma'am." They all said in unison.

1D activated her thrusters lifting her off the ground and into the sky before flying South. 2B got to hers and did the same but flew North. The remaining YoRHa units looked at each other before nodding, one-by-one they separated from each other. Feeling optimistic about their target not returning they put away their weapons, except for 12H.

"You heard her, get the pods." the redhead android ordered walking towards the still burning flames.

Immediately knowing who she was referring to 12H hastily rushed to retrieve them.

4B seemingly fascinated by the ice went to investigate. By this point the machine-sized daggers were melting away but what caught her attention was how it was still able to produce mist from down below. 'Man, how cold are they?' It gave her shivers given how close she was. Soon enough her pod floated by her side.

"Hey Pod, scan the ice for me." 4B told to the black-green robot.

"Scanning..."

"Analysis: Ice has struck through machine units and is currently melting."

"Hypothesis: Ice has grown from the ground."

4B face-faulted at the news. After recovering she turned to her support unit with an unamused expression "I know Pod. What I meant was can you scan it to see how it was able to?" The Pod got the message as it re-did the process.

"Scanning..."

"Analysis: A low amount of cool air particles have been detected in the field."

"Hypothesis: Target used a weapon capable of absorbing oxygen molecules in order to form ice."

4B put a hand on her chin in thought, very much intrigued at by the theory.

'An ice-producing weapon that uses the environment as it's ammo, interesting.'

7E stared at the charring remains of the bipeds and flyers still cooking in the flames, the smell of burnt metal made her sneer. Using her visor she was just barely able to make out fractures, cuts, and dents on the bodies. The anger-driven android crossed her arms in wonder. How did their target turn these threatening units capable of wiping out multiple Androids into...this? She frowned not happy at her conclusions before hearing a slight humming noise beside her. Knowing it was the silver-blue Pod that belonged to her she didn't need to face it.

"Scan to find the cause of fire." 7E commanded. The Pod did so without any hesitation.

"Scanning..."

"Analysis: The machines are detected to have a variety of slashes throughout their bodies. Others are dented enough to hit vital circuits, resulting in combustion thus resulted in explosion."

"Hypothesis: The target wields weaponry equivalent if not greater than YoRHa's top of the line artillery." It theorized.

7E's eyes widened with a slack jaw at her Pod's findings. Weapons capable enough to match YoRHa's. What the hell is going on?

11B walked alongside some dead machines that intrigued her. Unlike the others, the corpses seem to be riddled with holes so small only her fingers could fit. She motioned her hand towards them and a humming noise was heard. Being partnered for some time the bluehead and her red-black Pod seemed to develop a certain relationship where actions were used instead of words.

"Scanning..."

"Analysis: Machines were pierced with .45 ACP round bullets."

'.45 ACP round bullets?' Unfamiliar with this form of ammo the bluehead gave her companion a single word command. "Explain."

Knowing what she really wanted Pod gave her the rundown.

"According to YoRHa data banks, .45 ACP round bullets were used by M1911 or more commonly known as semi-automatic pistols that was created back in the year 1911. The M1911 grew in popularity due to its short recoil and basic design. It served as the standard-issue sidearm for the United States Armed Forces from 1911-1986." Her Pod described as it hovered down to pick up a bullet.

11B was stunned at the news "1911..."

How does one get hold of a 10,000 year-old firearm in perfect condition? She heard about Resistance androids using old world weapons to defend themselves but not to this degree. More so how did such primitive ammunition from a pistol of all things cause so much damage to the enemy if they were manufactured with a highly advanced metal that even YoRHa's firearms have a hard time piercing through? She looked at her Pod examining the bullet.

"Send this data to 1D." 11B ordered.

"Sending..."

Having gathered a ton of information the trio made their separate way towards the child of the group. 12H was seen still clenching her weapon in her hands as she waited for her Pod to return. When the brunette turned towards her comrades she put her weapon away hastily. Eventually they all joined together to discuss their progress.

"Did you get any leads?" 11B asked.

"Yes. I've sent them to Captain." 4B stated.

"What about you 12H, anything?" 7E asked raising her brow despite having her visor concealing it.

"Right n-now I'm waiting f-for Pod to c-come back from scanning." 12H stuttered to them.

'Jeez, she's filled with so much fear that I can almost smell it.' 4B approached her with a smile. "Hey loosen up there. Your body's shaking like crazy."

"Yeah, we're a team. We have each other's backs." 11B reassured her by putting a hand on her shoulder. 7E just nodded, clearly she wasn't made to comfort people but even she learned to care about her squadron.

12H pauses at the news and smiled. She's only been activated for 2 months and this was something new to her.

"Thank you. I...I'm just scared of the red thing that's all." She admitted.

"You're not the only one. All of us are, including 7E." The white-haired android commented. The redhead turned to her with an angry face.

"WHAT, NO I'M NOT!"

"You totally are. I'd saw how you were staring at the flames. It reminds me when I saw you fish for the first time ever." 4B teased with a shit-eating grin.

"4B YOU BETTER NOT!" 7E shouted threateningly.

"Oh, would I?" The white-haired woman stood her ground. 4B turned to 12H.

"Hey 12H want me to tell you what happened next when 7E saw the fish?" 4B said as she dodged 7E's body from tackling her and ran off giggling carelessly.

"GET BACK HERE!" The angry redhead got back up and chased after the laughing woman.

12H could only watch in amusement at the comical scene.

11B turned back to her with a smile. "See, I told you we got each other's backs." she said just before running off chasing the other two in an attempt to break it up.

The child was frozen seeing all three women running around like kids. She would've questioned their actions if the sight of 11B bitch-slapping both women to the ground didn't cause her to fall over in pure hysterical laughter.

Just then 1D came back and landed. She got out and confronted them.

"Everyone gather around." The captain ordered. Soon enough all 4 members joined her in a small circle. 4B and 7E were rubbing their faces, no doubt the pain dealt by 11B still lingered.

"I've received all your data regarding our target. Send them to the Bunker." 1D ordered while facing the Pods.

The Pods obeyed and sent the data to their respective Operators.

"With your presence being here I take it you didn't find the target." 11B guessed with a neutral face.

"You'll find yourself correct. Aside from heat signatures from the local wildlife my scanners wasn't able to pick up anything." 1D explained.

"What a shame. Let's hope 2B finds something to help us." 4B said reminding the team of the silent android.

"Oh yes, the quiet one." 11B said as she frowned.

"Why is she with us anyway? Did we do something bad?" 12H asked the group. Their faces told her they had no clue either.

Even though they acted neutral with the quiet android, secretly they were cautious of her since she was known in the Bunker to always be paired with the highly advanced Scanner model 9S. Every once in a while 2B will arrive in the Bunker without the boy. The next day a new 9S can be seen walking around completely devoid of any memory of what happened prior. Leading some to speculate that the original Scanner met his demise long ago.

A humming noise could be heard approaching the group as they were speculating. It was 12H's Pod as it stopped at her side with an incoming transmission.

The call was brief but it was important since the women headed straight towards their respective Flight Units.

Not long after they flew out of the machine graveyard.

[Meanwhile]

Above the skies was a sole YoRHa Flight Unit, in the cockpit was 2B. She was making her way to her destination but seeing the landscape reminded her of a certain someone. Someone that constantly treated her with kindness, and she mourned. Her eyes began to water as she recalled their last interaction together.

Somewhere near the middle of Earth was a jungle, the wild life was quiet. The sun sat perfectly on the horizon, coloring the sky a gradient orange. Under a waterfall was a basin that got shallow the farther it extended, 2 figures stood in the shallow; 2B with her weapon at her grips, and 9S staring at her with a smile.

He did it again, he went snooping around somewhere he shouldn't. She had to take care of him but she was hesitant. This wasn't the first time she had to do this, she's done this procedure many times before and it affected her.

Everytime 2B brandished out her blade she was met with a scared expression. Everytime 9S fought back screaming at her to stop only to get a katana through his chest. Everytime he laid sprawled against the floor, desperately trying to stop the bleeding to no avail. Everytime he stared at her, eyes filled with betrayal and hurt before they went dark.

This was their fate, an endless cycle of life and death. They were made to follow orders because they're part of YoRHa where emotions are prohibited. The same place where 9S unknowingly marked his death date. The same place where 2B was assigned as his partner...and executioner.

The battle unit heard a voice. A voice deep within herself, it was yelling, yelling at her to stop. 2B wanted to, she truly does, but orders were orders. She couldn't blame 9S for this, he always thought outside the box, to find what was really hiding underneath the surface, its who he is. It was understandable for him to hate her, she hated herself for doing this. She robbed him of all the precious memories they spent together, memories of when she wasn't a monster.

'Emotions are prohibited.' 2B told herself, despite it all the mantra encouraged her to keep her composure. When they first got here 9S told her that he'll take a look around so she should stay put. She complied but when he got far enough she followed, eventually she found him knees deep in water and gazing at the waterfall. His back completely turned to her, she got closer as her sword materialized into her hands.

When 9S turned around she expected him to joke about it, she expected him to take his sword out once realization kicked in. She expected him to glare at her with newfound hatred and grief before engaging in a one-sided battle. She expected herself to break down when the deed was done.

What 2B didn't expect was surrender. 2B never saw him staring at her in fear, 2B never heard him demanding answers, 2B never saw his weapon forming into his hands.

What 2B saw instead was 9S taking off his visor. His lips shaped into an accepting grin. He didn't charge at her like a caged-up animal but instead stood his place.

2B stood there hesitantly maybe it's a trick, he's done that before. However the thought vanished when he spoke.

"I guess my time is up huh, 2E?"

Behind her visor her eyes widened. '2E...how did h-' Her thoughts were interrupted by the boy's laughter.

"Hahaha it's funny to see you so flustered."

She opened her mouth to speak but the scanner answered her unspoken question.

"It's weird for a scanner to be paired up with a battler for so long, so I dug into the servers to find out. It took some time and a good amount of navigating around the alarms but I found my answer...and something else. Though I guess avoiding the security systems didn't matter in the end."

He began walking to her, water splashing against his legs. She took a step back and pointed her katana at him. 9S lifted his hands up willingly.

"It's okay, I won't fight you."

With so much time spent together 2B has come to pick up certain traits about her partner. One being that he almost always told her the truth, he can be a decent liar but never to her, she always picked up on it.

But at this moment she knew for certain that he was sincere.

She eased her grip on her weapon as 9S reached for her face. His gloved fingers rubbed gently over her delicate skin. Her black box started to pulse rapidly as a smile slowly took over her face.

For once, for just a moment, emotions took control of them.

The voice within her spoke. It said only a few words but it was enough because she agreed.

Taking off her visor she looked at him. Her usual bold demeanor was gone. She talked, her words were inspirit, and her eyes were cheery. "Nines we could leave, we could leave all of this. We're far away from any Android-populated areas. We can fi-"

"If we do that then YoRHa will never stop hunting us." 9S said.

"I don't care. If it means being with you than it's worth it."

"But I'm always with you. Ever since my activation I was always paired with you."

"Everytime I meet you, you become more and more beautiful. I rather be naive and be partnered with you than constantly watching our backs all the time." he explained. The woman was taken back at he just said, but that wasn't all.

"Promise me you'll keep killing me."

"W-what?" the woman asked shockingly.

"Promise me you'll keep killing me. I want to keep on meeting you and witness your cute face for the first time again." 9S wiped some leaky tears falling down her face.

"..." For a solid minute she stared at him, eyes now gloomy as her hand reached for his face.

"I...I promise." She eventually agreed.

"Thank you." 9S said happily.

"I-I love you." the woman hugged him.

"I love you too. I'll see you soon." the boy said as her sword impaled his back.

Even then he still kept his smile. His eyes closed with their last image being the person he held deep affection for.

'She called me...Nines.' His body went limp shortly after.

2B held him close, with hair covering her eyes. Tears disappeared into the water below.

*Beep*

*Beep*

*Beep*

Snapping out of the memory 2B looked at her HUD signaling that she has arrived. Landing at the site and exiting the carrier she immediately took off her visor and wiped any moisture off her face.

"Query: Is YoRHa Unit 2B alright?" Pod 042 asked her as it flew up to her head.

"I'm alright Pod. Scan the environment for any clues regarding our target." She ordered it as she put her visor back on.

"Affirmative." It said as it begun to float around the area.

Looking around she saw a river and a moose. The moose noticed her stare and looked up at her. 2B smiled and approached it but much to her dismay the animal ran away. She sighed as one of her many attempts to approach animals failed again. 9S was known to be obsessed with everything related to humans, often going off monologuing data he managed to gather including the practice of hopping on the back of an animal and using it for transport. How are humans able to accomplish such a task if animals are this weary to androids? 2B may never know as 042 came back to her.

Sure she could ask her Pod for answers but decided against it. After all it feels more rewarding when you do it yourself.

"Report: Large amount of blood detected nearby."

The android paused for a moment.

"Guide me Pod." She commanded not sure if what she heard was right.

"Affirmative." The small robot said as it took the quiet woman towards the site.

Soon enough she was able to make out a huge amount of red liquid. 2B's jaw was struggling to stay up as she got closer. Blood that stretched for at least twenty-feet from all directions. In the middle of it all was a dark vestige of a figure. The YoRHa unit wasn't sure what to think. On one hand it disgusted her seeing all this red, the smell made her gag a bit. On the other hand it was impressive for the subject in red to get up and move despite all the blood loss.

She looked up, nothing but the sky greeted her. They didn't make any type of sense, how did this happen? The surrounding buildings aren't close enough to make a descent to here, there doesn't seem to be any traces of a wreckage too. Did the subject just appear out of nowhere?

More questions that needed answers. Answers that she won't be getting right now.

She bent down to inspect the blood a little closer. The woman was surprised that the red liquid seemed to be dried up. Android blood is mostly composed of oils, and oils don't dry.

'This isn't an Android.'

"Pod. Scan the blood now." She ordered.

"Scanning..."

"Report: Blood seems to match data of mammals however, unable to analyze any further due to unknown elements detected in sample."

'Unknown elements?'

"Proposal: Send sample to Bunker for proper examination."

2B gave it a thought as she looked at the dried, red liquid.

'The target is a mammal but no mammal can survive this type of fall without severe damage. But the target was able to take out a small army of machines. No blood was in sight...is it capable of healing?'

She looked over at the shape.

'This can't be...no it's impossible.' she quickly deduced.

During her speculation Pod received an incoming transmission. Stopping her thoughts 2B answered.

"1D to 2B do you copy?"

"Yes what is it?" She responded.

"Command has given us urgent news. The recon team has been surveying a factory near the coast where the majority of machines are being produced. Meet us there." 1D exclaimed. She was boutta hang up 2B didn't stop her.

"What about the information regarding the subject in red?"

"Send it to the Bunker. We have a much bigger threat on our hands, production of Goliath-class machines have been spotted and we must stop them before it's too late." 2B's eyes widened but quickly composed herself as she made way to her Flight Unit.

"Understood. Send coordinates to my Pod."

"Currently sending. Since we're the closest squadron and no other YoRHa units are available at this time the Commander will be putting this mission on the side for now." 1D hung up shortly after.

"Pod send the data to the Bunker and mark the coordinates as the waypoint."

"Affirmative." 2B entered the carrier and flew off.

[Desert]

'Blasted sun.'

Dripping with sweat from his body all over due to the continuous heat led Vergil to strip himself from his coat and vest revealing his muscular arms and a blue t-shirt on his torso. Using his demonic powers he stored away the articles of clothing to where he usual keeps his weaponry. His sprint has reduced to a walk as he made his way along the sandy dunes of the desert. Don't take this vulnerable moment lightly as Vergil has survived worse temperatures whenever he fought climate-changing demons.

However those battles lasted at most 20 minutes and he's been in the heat for way longer. Yes, Vergil's a half-demon making him capable of enduring things for a longer period of time but he was still human meaning even he couldn't last under the humidity of the sun's rays for very long.

"This has to be a different version of Earth." Vergil whispered. Ever since he woke up the Sun hasn't moved an inch in the sky.

"I'd rather listen to Dante's nonstop chatter about pizza and beer than endure another hour of this." Vergil told himself as he looked down on his arms. His eyes widened.

Oh no, he's tanning.

If Dante sees this he will never hear the end of it. Curse his human side. Frowning at this Vergil decided it was best to focus on other things.

'Hmmmm...I can't seem to sense any humans nearby. Great, that means no shelter anytime soon.' During his younger years he traveled around the world in order to battle different types of demons in his pursuit for power. Along the way he read up on the different cultural groups of people that settled near the demon-infested areas.

If he wasn't hostile they'll lend him a place to stay. Once night hit Vergil would leave and go train until dawn. From mountains to deserts he used his youth as an advantage to gain the naivety of others. Who could've deny a lost young child a place to sleep? How foolish humans are. One intriguing event was during time he spent in Fortuna, an isolated island where humans treated his father as a god.

Demons are the last thing you should put your faith into. Their deceitful, manipulating, and will ultimately kill you in the end. That's all the knowledge needed for anyone to fear them. Yet the Order of the Sword look up to the Dark Knight, knowing full well of all the sins he's committed before turning over a new leaf. Very ironic for a demon to be looked to as a God, Fortuna is a strange place indeed. The countless prayers he's seen from afar will eventually be answered but it will be anything but holy.

...You really are something else entirely...

He stopped briefly, his mind became quiet.

After a few moments and shook his head before making his way. Not wanting to remain on the thought any further Vergil thought up of a plan.

'Once Yamato is back in my possession I'll find Dante, kill him if possible, take his amulet, and then I'll take on Mundus.' Vergil thought. Yes, if his father was able to best the dark prince before than surely he can as well.

Happy with the newly-formed plan Vergil looked off into the distance.

The blue-clad man could make out a blurry image on the horizon. Putting his hand over his eyes, it became clear an oasis wasn't far. Being stuck in the desert for so long drained his body severely, giving him a huge case of dehydration. Not wasting anymore time he sprinted towards the body of water. He can't get to Yamato if his body is as dry as a raisin.

A dust cloud formed behind him as the distance between them became smaller and smaller.

Getting into the small pond without a second thought Vergil submerged his entire body down under. Drinking in as much water as possible Vergil lifted his head from the water letting out a sigh of relief. Who knew something as little as a drop of water can make you feel a million times better.

Feeling the discomfort of his sand-filled hair Vergil dipped his head back in the water scrubbing off all the sand passing it onto oasis instead. Feeling satisfied Vergil lifted his head back up from the water and shook the moisture off like a dog. His gaze shifted downward and frowned at what he saw. His wet hair hugged his face from all around, making an image that reminded him of a certain sibling.

"Dante." he muttered with distaste.

*Step*

*Step*

Usually if one were to step in sand the sound would be too quiet for the normal person to notice. Vergil wasn't normal as his enhanced hearing picked up footsteps from behind.

Expecting a surprise attack Vergil used his Darkslayer style to vanish behind the attacker. He summoned Force Edge and placed it onto their neck. As he did this he took in account the person's appearance. They resembled a human, a girl more specifically and she wore a dress, with boots that reached up to her thighs. On her arms were black sleeves that connect to gloves and a blindfold covering her eyes. It was all in the same color, black with her blonde hair as long as his being the only exception.

At first he was perplexed, who would wear such an outfit in this environment?

He dropped the thought a second later, it wasn't important. He needed information and he will get it.

"You have 5 seconds to talk before this pond turns a shade of red."

"Foolish girl." Vergil said as Force Edge sliced into her neck, expecting her body to fall right after.

Only to find multiple versions of the girl around him. Bewildered at this Vergil failed to notice a heel kicking the back of his head.

"Kssh." Vergil murmurs as he teleported away to gain some distance. Across from him was the "girl" as she took a battle stance. Emphasis on girl since he couldn't hear any sort of heartbeat. He was left pondering on what exactly he's about to fight.

A katana appeared in a golden light into her hands.

'Could that be...NO it's not it.' The katana had a different-colored hilt and no form of power was sensed. Floating at her side was some type of rectangular machine with arms. He kept his sword at his side standing how he usually does. Behind her the darkslayer caught the sight of boxes under the shade of a few palm trees.

'Guard dog.' Vergil guessed.

"Pod if I don't make it out of this, store my back up data to the YoRHa network." The girl said not taking her eyes off the man.

"Commencing data transfer..." it said in response.

"Error: Connection to Bunker is weak. Unable to send back up data." The android gritted her teeth at the news.

Vergil could only stare in awe at the gibberish he heard. Back in his early years he studied a multitude of languages in order to find material relating to demons in different tongues. But he couldn't distinguish the dialect she spoke. He could pick up on some syllables that was associated with Japanese but that's really it.

Where exactly is he?

Snapping out of his thoughts the half-demon decided that the suspense between them have overstayed it's welcome and made the first move.

"Your not worthy enough as my opponent." He said as he flung Force Edge at her.

The girl responded by doing that technique from earlier and charged towards him. Vergil smirked and stood his ground with arms crossed.

'Why isn't he attacking?' The girl wondered but will find her answer sooner than expected.

"Warning: Behind you." Pod warned her.

"What?" She said as she stopped and turned her head. Her eyes widened as the blade was coming back at her like a boomerang. Dodging at the last second the girl turned back to Vergil. He caught it with one hand and took a stance this time.

"Pod. Fire!" the girl ordered to her mechanical companion.

Pod shifted revealing a mini-gatling gun that begun firing energy bullets.

Vergil reacted by spinning Force Edge like he does with Yamato. However, this gun seemed to be more advanced as some bullets passed the blade unfazed and hit Vergil in the shoulder.

The Son of Sparda grunted as he checked where the bullets hit their mark. Just a few burn marks, nothing he hadn't experienced before. Vergil looked back at the girl only to meet a blade to the face. Vergil teleported away and touched the side of his cheek. A cut not too big but was bleeding.

Definitely faster than a human. Seeing her close the distance with such speed led him to guess that she was capable of running speeds of at least 40 mph. He smirked as the cut healed.

'Impressive...for a child.'

Vergil called forth his summoned swords, light blue phantom copies of Force Edge began rotating around him. The girl stopped her advance, not expecting him to pull such a stunt. He took advantage of this and ordered them to surround her. She yelped when she saw the phantom weapons circling her, thinking fast she looked at Pod.

"Pod. Activate Blade."

Her mechanical friend began to spin around her at high speed eliminating each and every sword. She smiled and resumed her advance on him.

Vergil did so as well, dodging Pod's attacks, he brought Force Edge down on her only to react quickly with her katana stopping her head from getting impaled. Pod stopped it's program and aimed its gun at Vergil again. However Vergil was prepared for this and summoned another round of spirit swords, this time forming around Pod. It didn't have enough time to react as the swords went pierced through and disappeared as the robot fell onto the sand.

"POD!" The girl screamed whilst holding her ground.

"Remember who your fighting child." Vergil reminding her as both separated once more.

Now enraged at her only friend potentially dead she clenched her katana and ran towards the white-haired man ready to give him everything she had. The darkslayer stood there, his sword at the ready.

They clashed blades multiple times over. Vergil mixed Darkslayer with his attack patterns while the girl in black dodged and countered with combos that even bewildered him at times.

The girl jumped in the air and cleaved her sword down on him, he retaliated by rolling out of the way and brought his leg back for a kick towards her mid-section. She grunted before stabbing the katana into the ground and swinging around to bring kick of his own towards his face. Vergil bended backwards in time. The girl surprised him as she stood up and threw her blade at him like how he did in the beginning. Vergil hesitates for a moment, and vanished before getting stabbed through the chest.

With her katana out of reach Vergil grabbed it and teleported over to her. Dodging with grace the girl was able to avoid her weapon's reach. 'He's becoming predictable.' she smirked as she rolled onto the ground and performed a series of kicks at Vergil's legs until she was satisfied. She rolled back up as Vergil bent down in response losing his grip to her blade. Retrieving it the girl saw him still down in pain, taking this as an opportunity to end him she ran and jumped.

The girl swung her katana only to find the Force Edge shielding his head as he slowly rose back up. Vergil stared at her with a hardened look. Her masked eye's narrowed and she swung again this time towards his mid-section only for him to disappear. Predicting a sneak attack she dodged out of Vergil's path and countered with her own. At a shocking turn of events the man grabbed her by the wrist halting the katana's momentum and punched her in the face.

The force was more than expected as she flew over to the ground, sand covering her dress. She stood back up and stared back at the white-haired man.

'Is he just toying with me?' The girl thought as she felt cracks around her cheek.

Before she could even move he teleported in front of her grabbing both her arms. Unable to use her katana she tried to raise her knee in an attempt of a high kick. Only to find her leg blocked by his own. Her eyes widened in fear, as she was unable to leave his iron grip.

The Son of Sparda proceeded to squeeze the life out of her wrists, metal bending as she clenched her teeth in pain.

He released his grip on one arm, hardened his fist, and punched the other in the elbow. Wires, blood, and circuits erupted from her arm as she screamed in utter agony. But the finishing blow was when Vergil punched her in the chest, breaking one of her metallic breasts. The girl couldn't even react to it as her pain receptors were starting to fail. The android went limp before falling to the ground.

Seeing as she was no longer capable of fighting Vergil dragged her by the other arm and flung her next to her Pod. The girl had a rough landing, grunting on impact. She looked at Pod, her only friend lying next to her seemingly offline. All she could do was turn her head at Vergil with tears falling from her visor.

"Like I said, your not worthy." Vergil said as he brushed his hair back to its spiky hairstyle. He approached them with his sword on hand raising it up above his head. Knowing the price of losing in battle the girl closed her eyes waiting for death to greet her.

*Shing*

The girl opened her eyes to see the man sheath his sword onto his back. Confusion overtook her. Using her only other arm she took off her blindfold revealing to him her matching blue eyes still leaking clear oil. Despite this action, he ignored it.

"However, seeing as your a machine it gives me a little bit of insight on who inhabits this world. With that bit of information, I'll reward you by granting you mercy." Vergil explained to her despite the language barrier. The Son of Sparda wiped the blood off his cheek, turned around and ran back towards Yamato's trail. His speed was so fast it was hard for the girl to see what happened to him.

'Who was he?'

'How is he so strong?'

'What was he saying?'

'Why does he resemble a YoRHa unit?'

Turning her head to her Pod she desperately shook it to get a response.

"Pod! Pod! Pod! Answer me please."

A reward of relief was given to her when a familiar hum was heard within the support unit.

"Answer: Current support unit Pod 431 only suffers damage from weapon arsenal as well as hovering programs."

She smiled weakly as she gave it a one-arm hug.

"Connection to Bunker has been strengthened. Would you like to send an SOS signal to Command?" Pod replied. Grateful that her friend was okay she wiped her face clean.

"Yes do it now." She looked up to the sky, her eyes now filled with happiness from being spared.

"Signal successfully sent. Approximate wait time 1 hour and 15 minutes until a recovery unit arrives."

"Wonderful." The android said sarcastically as she lied onto the sand. Due to her position and assignment it's understandable on why the wait would be long.

"Report: Current Pod Unit has recorded entire confrontation with the mysterious male as well as scanned said male." Pod said which surprised her. She looked back at her mechanical companion.

"Query: Would you like to hear analysis?" It asked the girl. The man isn't normal, he could be a threat, to the Resistance, YoRHa, and to the humans. She has to know.

"Yes."

"Analysis: Subject indicates to have no metallic exoskeleton and instead consists of organic material. A heartbeat was detected within his body along with a rise in body temperature. YoRHa data confirms that the male's biology closely resembles that of mammals." The pod states.

"Organic material, what type of mammal can..." she raised her brow as the pieces started to fall together but pod interrupted her thoughts.

"Hypothesis: We have just engaged battle with a human."

"..."

"..."

"Query: Is YoRHa unit 6H alright?"

6H was frozen stiff in a utter state of shock. Her brain circuits were threatening to overload on what just been bestowed upon her. Having her jaw-hanging at the sudden news 6H quickly turned her head back to where Vergil ran off to. Only making out a dust cloud in the distance.

"H-h-h-human... I-I fought a human...and ma-aa-ade him...bleed." Tears began to fall once more as she covered her mouth in grief. 6H committed a crime, no not a crime, it was greater than that, she's committed sin.

'What if he wasn't fast enough?"

'What If I Didn't Figure It Out Before It Was Too Late?'

'WHAT WOULD'VE HAPPEN IF HE DIDN'T KNOW I WAS BEHIND HIM AT THE START?'

"Repeating question. Is YoRHa unit 6H alright?" a voice interrupted her mental dilemma. She looked back at her companion with a crazed look.

6H realized the situation at hand as she quickly composed herself, wiped her tears yet again, and faced Pod.

"Yes, I'm just processing the information."

"Proposal: Send footage of encounter along with scanning results to the Bunker." Pod proposed.

'YoRHa? Yes they need to hear about this. The first ever human to set foot on Earth in centuries has just been spotted...AND I LET HIM GET AWAY!'

"Yes. PRONTO!"

"Sending..."

"Information successfully transferred."
