[Desert]

A head popped out from the ground, wiggling it's body out of the sand a little lizard stretched its limbs getting ready for its daily hunt. Making it's way across the slippery dunes it scanned for any potential prey that might be hiding in plain sight. It moved at a slow pace as to not to attract any unwanted attention.

Just then a snake erupted from the ground, its superior size overshadowing the lizard. Not wanting to become early lunch the lizard used it's hind legs to skip across the sand. The snake hissed in response as it took chase. The lizard jumped over a rock and dug underground to throw the pursuer off. Traveling a good distance away it popped out of the ground again to see if the snake was still in chase.

Seeing it nowhere insight the lizard got out and turned around only to jump back as the snake almost snapped it's head off. Using it's long and flexible body the snake entrapped the lizard in a ring that was slowly getting smaller and smaller.

The lizard could only look in fear as the predator set its gaze on its prey. Any attempt of digging underground would only leave the lizard's body exposed to attack. It backed up against the wall to delay the inevitable. The snake's head slowly made its way towards the lizard, ready strike at any moment.

Suddenly the ground shook, confusing the reptiles. A metallic body with legs emerged from the sand separating the lizard from the snake, using its opportunity to escape the lizard successfully ran away. The snake however was entangled around one of it's legs, preventing it's escape. In a last ditch effort to save it's own life the snake snapped it's jaw onto it. It's eyes widened in horror as the fangs shattered upon impact as the foot made way to the ground. Crushing the snake with its weight the body got up, now in full view it had no upper torso. Instead was a red and black explosive with a blinking red light sitting on top. It gave an unworldly shriek as others emerged from the sand as well.

The group began running towards someone not far in the distance. Getting closer revealed that it was non other than Vergil making his way across the desert.

The darkslayer heard the noise and saw a group of machines. He shrugged them off as his phantom swords began raining down from the sky and onto the group. The sounds of explosions didn't deter the man from running forward.

"That girl from before, she must've been created by humans. It looked just like any ordinary child." Vergil narrowed his eyes as he recalled their little meeting. Now actually paying attention to detail he most notably took in mind her attire. A black dress along with boots, gloves, and blindfold of the same color. When it comes to demonology Vergil doesn't have to blink an eye as his brain is an entire encyclopedia of anything related to demons, but when it comes to women's fashion sense he can only draw up blanks.

Yet, even he knows any normal girl wouldn't even think to put on such an outfit in this environment.

Then again, the girl isn't normal.

"AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!"

Making his eye twitch a decent-sized row of summoned swords eliminated a group of Explosive Bipeds coming from behind. Ignoring the explosions he went back to his train of thought.

'POD!'

'Is that what her little contraption's called?' This peaked his interest because out of every word he heard her say this one was said in English. He remembered how it took part in their battle. More specifically its mini-gun coming out of its tiny body.

'Interesting. Humans were able to incorporate such an arsenal in its small frame. Such a shame that's all their good for, it doesn't seem capable of using a weapon of a true warrior.' It wasn't even fast enough to dodge his phantom blades, pathetic.

Vergil lost interest on the girl's little toy.

However, one thing he can acknowledge was the girl's skills in battle. Her speed was much faster than a human, and given the amount of force she put into her swings only settled the fact that she had above average strength. Still, it wasn't anything he couldn't handle...but how would she fair with the one he met back at the tower?

'Now that would be something of interest. Despite their taste in weaponry both have displayed an impressive performance of agility and skill...for human standards. The one that wields the rockets was able to venture forth into Temen-ni-Gru and fended off demons with ease. The black-clad girl was able to dodge and counter my attacks for a longer period of time than any of the other humans I've dealt with. Then again I wasn't giving it my a-'

"AAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!"

Sighing that his thoughts were interrupted once again Vergil looked towards another group of Explosive Bipeds. This time however, he summoned Force Edge and flung it over to the oncoming crowd of machines.

The sword pierced one of the bodies as it bounced from one Biped to another. Resulting in a life-sized version of explosive pinball.

After all the machines were dealt with the blade returned back to its owner. Grabbing it with one hand Vergil sheathed it onto his back and turned back to Yamato's trail with an irritated expression.

'If I see one more of those useless hunks of metal I'll make this place into my own version of the demon world. There may be no humans around to summon a demon but I'll find a way.'

Looking in the distance he could see rocky formations forming a wall with sand falling from the top creating the desert version of a waterfall.

'Good. Some progress at least.' He continued on. He checked the state of his skin only to find it a few shades darker than usual. Giving him the appearance of someone who just got out of a tanning bed.

He scoffed in annoyance 'This will not do. I need shade.'

*Pew*

*Pew*

That's new.

Looking to his left he saw dark purple spheres heading his way. Vergil snickered at the fact that the balls' speed rivaled that of a snail. In fact anybody with two legs can dodge these at last second with little to no problem. "Dodging" his way out of the balls' path the half-demon looked towards the shooters. Up in the air was the upper half of a machine connected to some sort of fan keeping it afloat. Attached in the middle was a gun.

Alongside that machine were multiple others. They stared at him with their bright red eyes. Vergil saw them charge right at them, and became more disappointed at their speed that matched their bullets.

"I'll make this quick." Taking a step forward the ground began to shake as machines rose from the ground. Vergil stood there gazing at the area surrounding him, intrigued on what these metal bugs have planned for him.

'Hmph. Appears they actually have a mind after all.'

Instead of those annoying suicide bombers from before these metal nuisances actually had a complete body. What caught Vergil's eye was the fact they wore a mask with white markings over their face along with some sort of torn rag around where their necks are supposed to be.

Vergil smirked as he slowly clapped at the invaders, "Well, well, well, it seems you hollow shells can actually understand the basic concept of a strategy. But your pitiful excuse of an ambush won't be able to stop me."

One spoke to him as it charged forward.

"Aaaa-ndroid." It swung at him. Vergil caught it's arm and flung it to one of the Small Flyers. The force he exerted caused it's velocity to increase ten fold making its impact with the aerial gunner explode on contact.

"As if you have the power to defeat me." Vergil mocked his attackers. A Medium Biped rushed towards him and attempted to swing. The darkslayer dashes out of the way and used Force Edge to slice off its arm along with its head. The body fell forward as the head was in mid-air. Jumping up the half-demon kicked the head over to another Small Flyer. Landing on the ground a small explosion triggered behind him.

"Exter-minate. Enemy."

"Scared."

"Kill."

Bringing his head up the spiked-haired man saw multiple machines encircling him.

"Stop wasting my time." Vergil closed his eyes and called forth his summoned swords rotating around him.

The machines got impaled by the phantom copies as they stopped their advance. Seeing an opportunity the Son of Sparda violently thrusted forward, piercing one of the machine's head and disconnecting it from it's body. He repeated the process to the other disoriented Stubbies making Force Edge look like some type of metal shish kabob.

With the stack of heads on Force Edge Vergil dodged incoming fire from the Flyers as they begun to spread out around him. The half-demon proceeded to launch the heads up in the air as he landed back down. Using his phantom swords to destroy the energy balls around him the spiked-haired man took a stance similar to a baseball striker. One by one the heads came back down, with Vergil hitting a head to every single Flyer around him.

*Boom*

*Boom*

*Boom*

*Boom*

*Boom*

*Boom*

"Hmph." Vergil smirked, sheathing Force Edge on his back.

*Step*

*Step*

*Fwoosh*

Hearing this he teleported away from his spot. A second later a machine came from above smashing into the spot Vergil occupied just a moment ago.

Before it can get back up the half-demon rushed back to the machine. Grabbing both of its arms and tore them away from its body. He did the same with its legs a second later.

The machine fell onto its back as it screeched in pain. It felt a boot on its body as it looked at Vergil.

"Do you understand me?" He said with a glare.

"The pain. The pain. The pain." it repeated as it began to wiggle around trying to escape his grasp.

Seeing its reaction Vergil pushed his boot into its torso. Feeling something within he exerted more force crushing whatever it was inside. The body stopped moving as it's eyes faded to black.

'Great. It seems as if everything in this godforsaken place is foreign.'

He grabbed the mask from the machine and raised it closer to his face.

5 seconds later he crushed it with his hand and went back to Yamato's trail.

"That mask doesn't seem to match any design I'm familiar with." Vergil said as he recalled texts he read during his younger years depicting masks worn by ancient tribes that fought demons. None of them matched with what these things were wearing.

The half-demon shook that thought realizing he's just wasting more time in not finding Yamato. He found the trail and realized that the path was slowly disappearing most likely due to the wind blowing the pebbles into the path.

'Dammit. How much longer will this take?' He grunted in thought as he passed more dunes. Old rusted pipes were seen coming out of the sand as he jumped on one and ran across it. Eventually the path led him to the rocky area of the desert. While he's glad he found shade to cool off his eyes widened at Yamato's trail abruptly ending.

His vision flashed blue for a second before he came back to his senses.

He can't let Yamato get away, he needs to find it. He will find it, through any means necessary. Vergil looked around for any clues. Coming up short he clenched his teeth as he theorized where the culprit could've went.

Wait a minute.

Facing to his left he saw a hole in the rocks on higher ground with a pipe leading into it. Not wasting anymore time Vergil quickly hopped over the rocky ground, getting on top he ran towards the other side. Thankfully, he found the trail again. Reaching the other side Vergil saw a sight that made him stop.

In the distance is what looked like the remains of human civilization. Apartment complex to be more exact, but they were decayed and in ruins.

'It's about time I found something.' Vergil looked at the path trailing off to his right. Looking over from the cliff he was on the half-demon saw it lead to the abandoned buildings.

The blue-clad man teleported his way down landing on top of a pipe leading towards the settlement. This was it. Yamato wasn't far, taking a deep breath of relief he sprinted across the field.

Getting closer to the apartment complex Vergil took in the state of the buildings. They were much older than he expected, some were broken in half revealing its inner structures. They all appeared to be lacking in color as no remnants of paint could be seen. Cracks formed on a couple of floors making it look very unstable to set foot upon. But what he took in mind was the lack of any furniture inside any of the buildings.

'Strange.'

Finally arriving Vergil stopped with an annoyed look. The trail disappeared yet again.

In front of him were two paths, one on the left and one on the right. Irritated at this he decided to go right. The shadows covered his figure as he walked between two buildings.

*Thunk*

*Pow*

"Shit!"

Stopping dead in his tracks Vergil looked to the exposed second floor on his right. Vanishing onto the second level he silently made his way to an empty doorway. Entering inside he saw an mattress to his right, on said mattress was what appeared to be a black-haired boy with black clothes and a blindfold laying on top of it.

'He wears the same attire with that girl from before.' his eyes shifted to the opposite corner of the room.

There was a table on the opposite corner of the mattress, a man was hunched over it blocking whatever he was working on from view.

He wore raggedy desert gear. The sides of his head appeared to be shaved leaving the top uncut and combed to the side.

The half-demon kept his scowl as his vision shifted elsewhere. A second later his eyes stopped. To the man's side was a sheath, black in color with a golden sageo. Scratches were engraved across the bottom part of the scabbard.

"..."

"..."

"..."

The sound of the man tinkering at the table filled the air.

"Alright just need to get it right here and-

AAAUUUGGGHHHH!" the man was grabbed by the throat and his body smashed into the wall. The impact caused the building to shake briefly. His pain receptors finally started working as he closed his eyes in agony. Feeling the person's grip still on him the man opened his eyes back up and was greeted with a white-haired man in blue clothes glaring back at him.

Gulping in fear the man struggled to get out of Vergil's grip to avail. He realized that there was no way out of this and decided to confess.

Feeling the man's throat beginning to vibrate Vergil lessened his grip.

"L-l-listen I-I can explain." He said looking at the boy on the mattress. He shifted his eyes back at Vergil who kept his everlasting glare on him.

"Can you understand me?" He asked. The Android looked back at him bewildered at such a question. But knowing this man can end his life at any moment he answered in English.

"Y-yes." He stuttered. The Son of Sparda looked towards the table. Lying on the middle was a mechanical arm. Nuts, bolts, and a jar of red liquid surrounded it, Vergil turned back to Yamato's culprit and saw he lacked a right limb.

Vergil lifted the man up in the air keeping his grip on him. He went over to Yamato's sheath and picked it up.

He examined the scratches on the scabbard. Not too deep, with the right materials he can repair it.

The man looked at Vergil examining the sheath. His lips quivered in fear, "W-was that yours? I'm sorry okay. I-I was surrounded b-b-by machines. With m-my broken arm I couldn't keep it from hitting the ground. The pain I felt only made it imp-AUGH!" Feeling his throat on the verge of being crushed the man stopped.

"Where's the blade?" The Android's eyes widened at his query.

"Wh-what?" His body met the wall again.

"Where"

"Is"

"The"

"Blade?"

Hearing nothing coming from the man the half-demon took him out of the wall. Lifting him back in the air revealed the back of his body having multiple fractures throughout, his eyes were closed.

"Don't make me ask you again." Vergil threatened.

Opening his eyes tears began to leak out as the man answered.

"Th-the machines took it. There in a d-deeper part of these buildings." His watery orbs met cold ones as silence took over the two.

A few seconds later the man was dropped to the ground. Touching his throat with his one good hand, he looked towards Vergil. He faced the doorway with the sheath buckled to his hip.

"Do humans still roam about?" the blue-clad man spoke. The man in rags got confused.

Is he seriously asking for the most basic form of knowledge out there? Isn't he with YoRHa? He looks like them after all. Shouldn't he been downloaded with the most basic information when he was created?

The silence the "YoRHa" unit gave off brought him back into reality. He'll most likely die if he doesn't answer properly.

"Not-not on Earth the last survivors of h-h-humanity are on the moon." He waited in fear when Vergil stayed quiet.

A few moments later he turned to the one-armed Android.

"What year is it?" The older twin questioned. Seeing the glare on Vergil's face the man immediately answered.

"11945 AD."

The Son of Sparda looked elsewhere processing the information. The deafening silence filled the air with Vergil conjuring his thoughts.

'11945? The portal had the power to send me to the far future. Interesting. The only thing that comes close is Geryon but the horse can only freeze time. But something tells me this isn't the same world I'm familiar with. No matter, at least I know what happened to the humans.'

"Why are the humans on the moon?" He asked again.

'What's up with these weird questions? Doesn't he know anything that happened?' The man pondered.

A thought lit up in his head 'He must be an old android that got his memory erased. If he's not YoRHa, that'll explains why he hasn't asked about the scanner. If I can get him to leave I can escape with the boy. Then when I fix him up I can finally have someone to call family.'

Inwardly he smiled now hopeful at escaping, he just needs get this man out as fast as possible. Wiping the tears off his face the man in rags composed himself before speaking.

"Around the year 5000 aliens came to Earth and slaughtered millions of humans. The survivors later fled to the moon for safety. They've been there ever since."

The spiked-haired man closed his eyes with arms crossed. 'Even in the far future humans are still weak. What a bunch of useless beings.'

However, the aliens peaked his interest. He's heard about the idea of extraterrestrial beings living far beyond the stars but he disregarded it as nothing but rubbish told to entertain children and grown adults obsessed with space. Now they've turned out to actually exist, an opportunity presented itself that made Vergil smile.

If they were able to eradicate millions, how would they do against him?

"How did the aliens accomplish such a task?" He inquired.

"Oh uh...they've had more advanced technology and planted their super weapons around the globe. They were later classified as machine lifeforms."

After hearing his response Vergil's smile lowered.

"Their everywhere now I'm sure you've seen them." The man said.

With a plain face the darkslayer turned to him "I'm guessing their the ones that look like oversized children toys. Am I correct?"

The android was unnerved by his dead voice but spoke "Yeah."

His face returned to its usual scowl, his thoughts of fighting powerful aliens disappeared entirely.

'Those disposable cans were the ones that brought humans to their knees? And here I I thought there was something of interest in this world.' Sighing at this Vergil looked at the robotic limb on the table.

"So what makes you and the boy any different?" The android looked at the deactivated YoRHa unit. He took a moment to gather his thoughts.

'Man his memory chip must be entirely screwed up if he can't even remember what we are.' Clearing his throat the man spoke.

"We're Androids. We were made to fight the machines in humanity's image. We were made to fight, protect, and care for them."

'Protect? Care?' Vergil rubbed his face, his head lowered. A few seconds later he brought it back up and laughter filled the room.

"Hahaha oh why did I even bother? No matter where I go humans will always be such pathetic creatures. Even going as far as making their own toys to fight for them instead of getting stronger and confronting the aliens themselves. How cowardly of them." Vergil remarked as his laughter continued.

The man was stunned by this, here is a person standing in front of him openly mocking his creators without a care in the world.

The closest thing to this were deserters running away from the Resistance. From either too much emotional pain or simply giving up their beliefs in the war many Androids would leave trying to find a new purpose in their lives. Hell he was one himself ever since he found the broken down scanner model. Yet, not one of them has openly acknowledged the concept of humans being worthless.

Now watching someone talk about humans in such a derogatory manner was...confounding. Not only that he denounced Androids as nothing more than trash as if he wasn't one himself.

The man gripped his fist and confronted him.

"I hate to break it to you, but your no different yourself. Your memory chip must be in shambles if you can't even remember your basic purpose or what you are." The man in rags exclaimed, Vergil stopped his laughter as he looked towards him. The Android backed up in fear not knowing what he's done.

"Apologies for my laughter but I'll have you know that I'm something far greater you and everyone else will never fully understand." Vergil said in a serious tone as he walked towards the doorway.

The deserter stared wide-eyed at his retreating figure. His mind ran wild.

'Is he not an Android? He's not a machine, he didn't attack me...well he did but I'm still alive. What else could he be?'

Deciding to try his luck the Android stood up and spoke "What are you then?"

The spiked-haired man stopped. He looked over his shoulder.

"What am I?"

A second later the Android felt something on his chest and looked down. Force Edge embedded itself all the way through. Blood began leaking through his clothes as he gripped the edge. Looking up in shock the Android saw he had on a sadistic grin, his eyes illuminated a viscous blue, his figure was intimidating.

When he was still apart of the Resistance he contemplated on the differences of humans and Androids on what they feel. Do they feel the same emotions? What's the purpose of feeling mad or anxious? He often discussed this topic with former friends spending hours on the meaning of emotions. Yet since they were Androids they could never get a perspective from both sides. Upon his finding of the scanner he found an answer, emotions helps one to find life's purpose. Emotions can motivate someone to do better. Emotions...can help you find someone to protect. That's what prompted his desertion, abandoning it all, for at a chance for a different life.

What he didn't expect was that there was more than one answer.

Emotions can help someone get back at it in life. But it can also help to see a person's true nature. You just need to put them in a certain situation and the mask will fall right off.

Behind Vergil was a shadow, but it didn't look normal. It took on an appearance that the Android has never seen before. Horns protruded from the head, jagged claws and spikes adorned it's arms and hands. Teeth that appeared razor-like grinned back at him with eyes that gave off a terrifying yellow.

This wasn't just fear the Android was feeling. He wanted to cry, curl-up into a ball and block out everything and weep until the tears stop flowing. He was petrified. This wasn't an Android, this wasn't a Machine, this wasn't an Alien. It...was a monster from hell.

Vergil pushed Force Edge deeper causing the man to yell in pain.

"I'm neither Android nor machine." His words were accompanied by a deep, monstrous, gravely voice.

He released the blade violently making the man fall on his back with a grunt. No other sounds were uttered from the Android, not even a grunt as blood pooled around him.

There was nothing to do now. Nothing but to wait for his processors to stop functioning. But something urged him to look, he didn't want to but he lifted his head anyway. Vergil and the shadow sheathed their blades onto their backs and headed towards the doorway.

Stopping at the front they spoke one final time.

"I'm the devil."

Those were the final words heard before the Android's head dropped back down, death overtaking him.

[City Ruins]

*Boom*

*Boom*

*Boom*

High above the clouds metal rained down as explosions covered the aerial plain. Numerous Small Flyers were seen surrounding two YoRHa flight units.

"Hey 2B, if you don't mind me asking what do you know about the human in red?" questioned 9S as he dodged incoming fire.

From the back energy bullets appeared and obliterated the machines as the other pilot spoke "He's in danger and we need to retrieve him before he can get into harm. That is all."

The boy pouted in her vagueness. Ever since their talk with Commander he's been left in the dark. She told them everything about the human in the desert but didn't say anything about the other one.

Mainly because 2B knew something that he didn't it and 9S didn't understand why.

They were going to meet an actual human and making good first impressions can benefit their interaction greatly. The problem was how to start their conversation off. Well, it would be to inform the human about them, YoRHa, and lead him to safety but after that what should he say?

Meeting new people wasn't something 9S does due to his model-type but learning about the human can make things easier and the battler was restricting the juicy details from him. He's a scanner model for crying out loud learning new things is what he does.

More machines came from the right, maneuvering his way closer to the enemy he swung the Flight Unit around eliminating everything in the vicinity.

"C'mon 2B the human is gonna be found eventually so why not tell me now?" He tried again, pleading for her to spill it.

"Focus on the machines."

Sighing in defeat 9S decided to shelf it for now. The more pestering he does the less likely he'll get anything out of it.

"Alright. Alright." he uttered.

"One affirmation will suffice."

"I-fine."

The soldiers swiftly eliminated the machines as they descended closer to Earth. Leaving the clouds the carriers transformed into battle mode as they hovered above abandoned buildings. Soon enough more Flyers came into view.

The pair prepared for another battle "Get down to a lower elevation. I'm gonna release the missiles." 9S said. 2B complied lowering herself closer to the ground.

Seeing her out of harm's way the boy released the missiles. A swarm of rockets emerged from the Unit and destroyed the surrounding machines. After their destruction the woman got back to his level and sent a heavy attack to some Flyers coming from above. A wave of energy came out of her saber and traveled to the machines.

After that poor attempt of a sneak attack the Androids faced forward. Two Medium Flyers emerged from the sky and started up their lasers. Seeing this the units separated from each other and advanced towards each enemy. Evading the lasers both Androids began attacking it with both their sabers and guns.

2B quickly disposed of it as it exploded in a cloud of smoke. Looking towards her partner 9S looked as though he was having trouble with the Flyer. She was gonna assist him if the Flyer's wings didn't start to move. The boy didn't seem to notice it as he kept on hacking away.

"9S LOOK OUT!" she shouted. The boy looked towards her confused at her yelling. Hearing the blades moving he quickly evaded at the last second. He escaped the machine but didn't come out unscathed. It managed to hit the center of his unit and therefore his chest.

"GAAH!" he grunted in pain, his aircraft flew further below.

Seeing this 2B immediately fired a missile barrage onto the machine. It exploded as 9S recovered.

"Are you alright?" She asked.

"Y-yeah just got a little scratch." He told her as he looked down at his chest, the cut didn't look too deep. 'Don't feel any bleeding. I'll be good for now.'

The woman didn't seem convinced and flew closer but before she could see his wound a ring was heard on her HUD.

"B-bunker to 2B. C-come in." a female voice said. 2B looked over to her operator. The blonde was looking down from her screen and her body was shaking.

"I-I-I've sent a-a landing point for your flight units. You'll be-be-be touching down quite a ways from the R-R-Resistance Camp. W-we can't risk the enemy hiding their position sorry."

Alright what's wrong with her.

Before she could respond 9S interrupted, "Operator 6O what's wrong? You seem tense." The operator looked at the screen with an ecstatic smile for a moment and answered.

"O-oh uhhh it's just that-YOURGOINGTOMEETAHUMANIMSOJEALOUSIWISHICOULDBETHEREWITHYALLHEYCANYOUDOMEAFAVORANDKEOWIQYWVDBXIHEFUUWNWKZOXNEUDI-" the scanner sweat dropped at the blonde.

'How can she talk that fast?' he wondered.

"Oh...uhh well..." the scanner tried his hardest to understand what she was trying to say. "2B what should we do?" he asked her with 6O's rambling in the background.

"Depends if they're willing to accept your request." she replied. The blonde stopped talking with widened eyes.

"OH THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU 2B I OWE YOU FOR THIS ONE!" 6O shouted joyfully ending the call right after.

'Wait what?' 9S thought. He faced the woman "Don't tell me you understood all of that?"

"She's my operator. We know each other very well." She said with no emotion. Thinking about it, it did make sense.

"...right." was all he said.

Their Flight Units transformed back into Flight mode as the pair went towards the city.

Landing on top of some buildings the duo got off and the aircrafts set off back towards the Bunker. The woman immediately went towards 9S, seeing her approaching form the boy became confused. He saw her hands reach for his chest and he stopped them.

"Uhh 2B, what are you doing?"

"You lied about your wound." Looking down the scanner saw blood slowly leaking through his jacket.

The boy gasped in shock, 'What my pain receptors didn't pick up on this. I need to see maintenance next time I get the chance.'

"Now let me see." She broke his grip and got closer.

'Oh man if the human sees me like this it'll be so embarrass-Wait?' an idea popped to mind as 9S smiled mischievously.

Before 2B touched him the boy jumped back, she just stared at him in confusion.

'What's he doing?' She thought as she crossed her arms."9S get back here."

The boy continued to smile, and responded "Tell me about the human and I will." her mouth open a little but she kept her composure.

"9S stop fooling around." She began walking towards him. He moved further back determined on his goal.

"All you have to do is tell me 2B." Grunting at the boy's proposal she began to sprint at him.

'Uh oh.' 9S began running across the rooftop. The woman came in for a tackle but the boy jumped out of the way. Getting back up the now annoyed 2B chased after him again.

"These actions coming from YoRHa unit 9S are deemed unnecessary and is only delaying the time to retrieve the human." his Pod said from his side.

"Don't worry Pod this won't take long." he assured 153. It just stayed silent as it continued to float by his side. Seeing a shadow covering him he rolled to the side as 2B's body came crashing down.

"9S!" she shouted. Getting back up she looked at the scanner who was a short distance away.

"Get"

"Back"

"Here!"

Hearing this the boy stepped back from her. 2B's tone sounded very harsh as opposed to her calm, quiet voice. Though her visor covered her eyes 9S could feel her gaze burning through him.

'This doesn't look good.'

Clearing his throat he spoke but stumbled "The sooner you tell me the-the sooner we can end-d this."

Standing his ground the boy prepared for another chase. However, his body froze when he saw the woman pull out her blade.

'She...she can't be serious right.' She began to slowly walk toward him. 'Yes she is. She definitely is.'

9S pulled out his, only for it not to appear in his hand. He looked over at Pod and his jaw dropped to see Cruel Oath in its clutches.

"Pod give me that." he reached for his weapon only for 153 to fly out of his reach.

"Access denied. YoRHa unit 9S must oblige with YoRHa unit 2B. This will end the situation at a faster rate, therefore the time to retrieve the human will be shortened."

He gritted his teeth in frustration, 'Dammit Pod your supposed to be with me.' Looking back at 2B he realized she was getting closer and needed to act fast.

9S dashed to the left only to find 2B's sword being thrown in his path. Stopping in shock he turned to the battler and saw her in mid-air using her Pod to launch herself straight at him. He rolled out of the way expecting her body to hit his previous spot. Looking back the boy didn't see her on the ground but still in the air.

"POD, WIRE!" 9S wasn't fast enough to escape 042's trap.

The shiny yellow cord wrapped around his body tightly rendering him immobile. 9S fell to the ground as he struggled to get out.

"GAAH!" lifting his head he saw 2B picking up her sword.

"No fair. I didn't get help from my Pod." She ignored him, getting closer she knelt down to his side.

9S felt her fingers around his cut. He felt his black box starting to pulse at a faster rate.

'What? It's doing it again. What's wrong with me?'

"Pod 153 get me staunching gel and logic virus vaccines." surprisingly the black and red Pod did as she commanded despite not being assigned to her.

'Oh you got to be kidding me.' 9S pouted.

"Does 9S have anymore clothes?" He heard 2B ask.

"Affirmative. All units are equipped with at least one set of clothing in their virtual space before leaving the Bunker."

Tasting defeat once again the scanner brought his head back down as he waited for this to be over.

[Resistance Camp]

"Are you sure you want to go with him after what he's done to you?"

"Yeah, I think he's learned his lesson. And I've seen what he can do. We'll be fine. Plus I wanna see how much more he can take."

"..."

"Alright, you can go with him. Even though I appeared friendly with him I still don't fully trust him. Expect a few guards to accompany you two when y'all leave camp. Don't know if he might snap again."

"Oh don't worry. If he does I have these babies just in case."

"I...why do they look like that?"

"I made these a while back though I never found any use for them but after meeting him, it gave me an idea so I modified them. Now if he decides to act up again he'll get a taste of my genius."

"I...fine. Whatever works I guess. But it still doesn't change my decisions on the guards."

"Whatever you say."

Now done replaying her most recent conversation Anemone got up from her seat and exited her tent.

In front of her Resistance Androids roamed about. The rundown city buildings made up the structure of their base. Tarps were hung across multiple parts of the camp, giving off a warm and comforting atmosphere. In the center of it all was a garden of flowers, planted by Anemone herself. Multiple shops were set up in the middle where people can sell and buy weapons, chips, and other items essential for Androids. Near the front entrance was where they kept their transport vehicles under a white cover. They were used whenever they went on supply runs or had to carry multiple people across the city.

In the corner near the vehicles was a jukebox accompanied by rows of seats. Sitting next to it were shelves filled with various music discs people were able to find throughout the years. Every once in a while Androids would gather around and listen to whatever song was playing. Some would even dance to it as others simply used it as background noise in their conversations while they drunk.

Located in the back was the maintenance shop or medical bay others liked to call it, where injured Androids of all kind were sent to get repaired.

On the left side of the Camp was where Anemone kept her base of operations. It composed of 3 buildings and a her own personal tent, she usually spent most of her time inside planning out the Resistance's next phase of attack with her top troops. In the upper left corner was an alleyway that lead to a second part of the base composing of two opposite paths. On the left path were storage units, where supplies were held. On the right led to a small town square, it served as the residential area for the Resistance.

Ever since they allied with YoRHa Anemone agreed to sanction some of her camp solely to YoRHa units. Thus the right side of the base were buildings specifically restricted to only the Androids in black and white attire. A few transporters were also implemented, it took some time getting used to but eventually the sight of an Android coming out of those machines in a blink of an eye didn't bother her anymore.

Yet, not many YoRHa units were assigned to this region so not a lot of them came by on a weekly basis. As a result of a couple of the buildings were used for other purposes.

Looking back at a certain building Anemone's mind recalled her interrogation with a certain individual.

After the guards pulled Jackass away from "disciplining" Dante they've managed to wrap things up. When the guards removed his cuffs the devil hunter questioned on where his sword was. The woman went towards his pistols and took them. Anemone told him that he'll get his weapons back in return for a few tasks that she has planned for him. The white-haired man frowned at this but thought it was fair due to all the trouble he had caused.

Some of the weapon dealers and item sellers stopped their production and lacked certain resources that can only be found throughout the city. Doesn't seem hard if it weren't for the fact machines have been spotted in multiple groups throughout the area. Many of her troops were ambushed and many got injured cause of it. They were in no condition to fight, so Anemone didn't know what to do.

But if this guy can truly stop two Goliath Bipeds by himself as Jackass said, then he should have no problem completing this task.

She was about to leave to get everything ready for him when Dante spoke.

"Hmm. Since we're talking deals how about I get not only my weapons but a map of this world in return." the devil hunter offered. The leader smirked as she turned to him.

"Well, that just means more labor from you."

Dante smiled, "I don't see the problem."

"Very well then. The guards will take you to the storage area, we need a helping hand." She looked towards the guards still holding the scientist. "Oh and you can let her go. I'm sure Jackass cooled down from her tantrum."

True to her words Jackass didn't rush up to Dante this time but instead smiled at him and left the room. This put the guards on edge knowing what happens when her demeanor changes like that. Dante didn't mind it as he turned to the guards.

"Hey, are we gonna get this done or what?" the guards hesitated but one grabbed a blanket from the side and tossed it over to him. Dante catches it and looked at Anemone.

"Sorry but with the way your dressed up you'll definitely turn some heads not to mention your tall as hell. We don't wanna have any unwanted attention now do we?"

He nodded, "I guess my style is just too much for ya. I like that." Dante tossed the blanket over his head covering his upper body and the guards grabbed him and quickly escorted him to the back of the camp. With him being busy for a while Anemone made her way towards the vendors that lacked the resources.

After getting the information she needed she went inside her buildings and to make a list for him. On the way she stopped by a room and took out Ebony and Ivory, setting them on a table where the missing magazines were on. She turned to leave but stopped when a redhead was seen analyzing Rebellion on a separate table.

"What are you doing Popola?"

Popola jumped back in surprise, her straight hair swinging wildly from the motion. The flower on the right side of her head almost fell. Her appearance didn't look like any of the other Resistance Androids. Instead of raggedy desert gear Popola had on a white and black blouse that parted at her waist and reached her legs. In place of cargo or military-style pants like the others she wore red jeans with a white belt. On her knees were black knee guards and black boots for her feet. On her right wrist was a black bracelet with white highlights.

'It looks like she was a little too immersed.' She thought as Popola recovered.

"Anemone I...was just looking for a notepad." Her awful attempt at a lie made the leader chuckle.

"Hey what do you know, I'm searching for the same thing. But I know for sure this isn't the room to have one." she said in a playful tone. The redhead flinched as she gripped her fists. Knowing there was no other way out of this Popola confessed.

"Okay I saw you carry this blade over here. Usually I wouldn't mind but the sword looks familiar and I just had to get a closer look."

The woman raised a brow "Well, did you recognize anything?"

Popola looked at her with a defeated look "No, but I know I've seen it somewhere before. If you don't me asking, where did you find this?"

Anemone looked over at Ebony and Ivory "I'm just keeping it warm for someone. They owe me."

The redhead looked down and crossed her arms, seemingly in defeat.

"I see...oh shoot I forgot Devola's waiting for me. I gotta go. Sorry for the troubles." Popola quickly made her way out of the room.

Anemone just shook her head in delight "Well that settles that. Now where do I keep the notepad again...oh right." Making her way to her tent she found what she was looking for and made a list of all the things Dante needed for when he leaves. A guard entered her tent as she finished writing. "All the supplies have been stored away." he said bluntly. Anemone looked at him in surprise.

"Already? How?" it usually took the storage team 30 minutes to empty out three trucks. But their latest shipment was more than usual and even with another set of hands it would've taken them at least an hour to complete. Yet, they've managed to complete it in under 15.

The guard hesitated before answering "It's Dante he's...very strong." The woman looked away at his statement.

'That can't be true? Is the guard pulling my leg? No he's not the type to do it. So what is he?'

Dante's a creation of humanity according to Jackass' statement and was even supported by the man himself but there's something more to him. She faced the guard again.

"Well...take him to the entrance. I'll be giving him the list when he gets there."

The flashback ended as Anemone knew what happened next.

Jackass confronted the leader about Dante. After agreeing to let her go with him, the scientist left. Anemone checked her list before heading towards a secret spot near the entrance. The guards were in an undisclosed angle where no one could see them so Dante discarded the blanket. Once the leader arrived she gave the devil hunter the list. A person was heard making their way towards them, much to his surprise Jackass was seen equipped with modified grey gloves as she smirked at him.

Anemone told Dante that she'll give him a map of the region along with all of his weapons for when he returns. Shortly after her brief explanation the group left.

'What's he hiding?' the woman wondered, she noticed it ever since she met the guy. Her mind told her he wasn't telling her everything but just couldn't figure out what.

Before she could speculate further she saw two people enter the camp. The pair in question wore YoRHa attire, one appeared to be a young boy but the other struck a cord to the leader.

The other person was a woman that awfully reminded her of someone. Someone that she met long ago, someone who was there when everything went to shit, someone who she never thought to ever see again.

'Could it be?'

The pair made their way towards her.

"N-number 2...is that really you?" Anemone asked her when they finally got closer.

"What? You know 2B?" the boy asked in shock.

Now knowing it wasn't who she thought it was the leader mentally kicked herself for her actions.

"Uh yes. But the Bunker didn't inform me of your arrival." Anemone dodged the question in a way for them to not notice.

"That's because your initial form of contact with the Bunker has gone offline." he informed her.

The leader gasped, that's right how did she forget about that? No wonder she hasn't been up-to-date with White.

"Oh yes I remember. Our communication team messed up the equipment used to connect to the Bunker. We've been trying to get it fixed but we had no such luck." Anemone told the pair.

"I'll take a look at it when we're done with our mission." 9S offered kindly. 2B remained silent throughout the whole ordeal.

"Thank you very much. But may I ask what your mission is?" Anemone asked them.

The pair visibly tensed which made the leader raise a brow. 'What's got them so riled up?'

9S rubbed the back of his head, figuring out how to break the news to her. That was until 2B spoke "Can you take us somewhere more private?"

This surprised the leader, whenever she conversed information regarding missions with YoRHa units they always did out in the open. To hear a request to move to a more secluded area wasn't normal for her. Regardless she motioned the two to her personal tent. The trio entered her quarters and closed all the flaps.

Now out of the public's eye she faced the soldiers with crossed arms.

"Alright what is it?"

2B spoke "A while ago you informed Commander of an anomaly originating from the sky." Anemone narrowed her eyes but nodded.

"After investigating we found evidence of what type of being it is." The leader noticed her circuits jolt slightly, she didn't like where this was going.

"So, what did you find?"

2B looked towards 9S and they both nodded and faced Anemone.

"The subject in red is a human."

"KILL!"

Keeping his gaze on the sand-covered swing set Vergil swiftly stabbed the machine coming in from behind. He took Force Edge out just as fast and the machine fell to the side as it's core was damaged beyond repair.

Vergil continued to stare at the mostly buried playground as the shadows of the buildings covered him whole. He muttered a few things but it wasn't coherent. After some time his fist tightened. He left the playground and went deeper into the complex, the sound of his boots hitting sand filled the quiet ambiance the place produced.

Touching his hip just in case Vergil was glad to feel the empty sheath at his side. His brain triggered the encounter he had with Yamato's culprit. The look on the Android's face when he realized was stabbed was so priceless to Vergil even though he didn't show it.

But was it right for him to end his life?

Yes.

There was no way he would've let the Android live, he sealed his fate the moment he picked up his katana. It was only a matter of time before he paid for the consequences of his actions. 'But the boy, did he kill him prior to my arrival?'

Vergil had his suspicions when he first saw the kid, before he left he checked the body only to find it in the same exact position to when he first arrived. The way it just laid there not reacting to their confrontation told him he wasn't simply sleeping.

'Perhaps he did, but it doesn't matter now. I need to find Yamato.'

Walking further in Vergil soon found out that this place was huge labyrinth of buildings. Every turn he made everything looked the same with even more passageways to go through. After 10 minutes of continuous walking Vergil contemplated on whether or not to bring down the place.

'I don't see any drawbacks.' Cracking his knuckles he made his way over to a decayed 5 story building. He reared back his fist readying his arm. He launched it but stopped it at the last second. The Son of Sparda felt something and knew what it was.

"I'm getting close." Now feeling Yamato's power he made his way across the maze. Each way he went was a calculated move as he felt the blade's power becoming closer and closer. Eventually he made his way between two destroyed structures, he slowed down to a walk. Just then two machines jumped in front of him armed with weapons.

"Hello. How are you?"

"Nice. Weather. Today."

They ran up to him and tried to bring their rusted swords down on him. Vergil simply teleported behind them and resumed walking.

The machines turned around confused, only to find summoned swords rotating around both their bodies. The sound of metal getting pierced and falling to the ground can be heard a second later.

The spiked-haired man proceeded to make his way further in. He reached a large opening with the rusted remains of buses lying throughout. What did stand out were the street lights still free from the desert's grasp.

The half-demon reached the middle but stopped when numerous machines popped out from the ground. He grunted as he brandished out the broadsword, in quick succession he sliced through 8 Stubbies. Leaving giant cuts permanently altering their appearance as they fell back in silence.

Jumping in the air, he landed behind another machine and violently kicked it over to two more. Rolling to the side the spiked-haired man stopped an arm from hitting him and proceeded to smash his fist against the machine. Once the head was utterly destroyed he used the body as a hammer and slammed it down on the last stubby from his right.

"Everyone. Dead. You. Are. False." Coming from a hill emerged a Goliath Biped.

"Interesting size but I can already tell from your mass you won't be able to touch me." Vergil proudly declared.

He saw other heads on its arms. He was gonna deal with them first.

Rushing up to the machine Vergil avoided a swing as the arm got stuck to the ground. Reaching for the head implanted on the arm he crushed it. Jumping up he kicked the arm and the appendage disconnected from its body.

The machine shrieked but got back up. It raised it's other arm and brought it to the ground, energy waves formed from the Biped and traveled all around the area. Thinking quickly Vergil jumped onto a bus and summoned his phantom blades. Summoned swords rained down onto the machine, destroying the second head in the process. Now riddled with holes the machine kept pushing on as it swung its only arm towards him.

"This is getting tedious." he said as he reached out and stopped it. The Biped was shocked at his strength, it tried to pull away but it couldn't budge.

The half-demon laughed at it's poor attempt of escaping and ripped the appendage off. The machine stepped back now defenseless against the man. A second later the arm was seen flying towards it, it impaled it torso and crushed its core. The Goliath Biped fell back with its eyes fading to black.

"Scum." the blue-clad man muttered. Just then another machine jumped out from the ground. They stared at each other with Vergil waiting for it to make the first move. However to his surprise it ran away. It went towards the path he was going so he followed suit. The distance between them wasn't much so imagine his surprise when he turned a corner only to find the machine nowhere in sight. Nevertheless he dropped the thought, Yamato felt closer than ever before.

He made his way past a few more buildings and found steel bars forming a passageway. Vergil entered and on the other side he stopped his trek. Corpses of various Androids were strewn about. He didn't say anything as he knelt down near one. It looked female and the exoskeleton looks decomposed. "It appears these so-called "Androids" have underestimated their capabilities, how foolish of them."

Regardless he got back up and made his way towards a tunnel. Unbeknownst to the half-demon high above the sky 5 aircrafts could be seen flying away from the area.

In the tunnel the he saw a light coming from the other end and approached it. On the other side he could make out that he was on the top story. Looking down below Vergil's face morphed in disgusted. At the bottom were multiple machines seen trying to copy how humans reproduce despite lacking any form of reproductive organs.

'Is my mind playing tricks on me or is this some type of joke?'

Reaching the bottom floor he can now clearly see that this was in fact real. The machines were trying sexual intercourse.

His anger began to rise, the air around him froze as an unworldly power was threatening to engulf his very being. His grip on Force Edge tightened as he closed his eyes.

From the moment he woke up to where he is now, it was utterly humiliating to see himself like this. A Son of Sparda who slayed anything in his path to be the strongest has been reduced to a shell of his former self on a scavenger hunt in a nest full of giant children's toys. If his past self would look at him now, he would laugh at him. These disposable tin cans were making a mockery out of him, taking what is rightfully his and taunting him in the most humiliating way possible. Does this world think he's a joke, venturing all the way across the damn desert only to find this?

No, these nuisances don't know who's standing in front of him and that was a HUGE mistake. He'll make them see, he'll make this world's inhabitants cower underneath him. He will show them, he will show the world to never mess with the Son of Sparda.

"No." his vision shifted to a dark blue.

"No more." a blue aura radiated off of him.

"Not anymore." the machines stopped what they were doing and looked towards the man. His veins were bulging, his eyes were glowing, and his frame was intimidating.

"AAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH!" Vergil let out a powerful roar before the whole entire area shifted into utter chaos.

Anything that moved was dead in a split second. The machines started to attack, surrounding him with their superior numbers. More machines emerged from all around, but the darkslayer was unfazed by this. Anything he touched he would violently tear apart. Explosions littered the field as the half-demon continued to destroy every machine that came at him. Some were killed instantly, others had to wait for a slow death, some became collateral damage. The man kept on attacking and the number of machines didn't stop.

Everything became a blur to Vergil, his bloodlust took control of him and influenced his every move. He noticed some of the machines spoke but he didn't care, he couldn't understand them anyway. What he didn't notice were some machines stopping their attacks and freezing in place.

A machine dropped onto the ground far away, Vergil in his rage didn't see it at first but after ripping a head off and slamming into another he did. Stopping his attacks briefly he jumped up, his eyes shifted to the machine's hand and everything froze around him. It was the same machine that ran away from him and it wielded a familiar-looking katana.

"I'll get you for this." it said as it rushed towards the man.

After it's second step the machine's body was smashed against the wall. Not far from where it stood a second ago was Vergil holding Yamato in his grasp. His bloodlust seemingly vanished from his body.

He looked at the blade, inspecting it for any imperfections. Luckily there was none, for the first time ever since he's arrived here Vergil felt happy. Now that Yamato's back in his possession he can finally look for Dante.

"This cannot continue."

"Oh right those cretins." after sheathing Yamato he turned back only to find something he did not expect.

The machines stopped attacking him and instead were frozen in place. Before they all went crazy. Some gripped their heads, others rolled onto the ground. It was definitely not anger. Even though Vergil couldn't understand them he knew they were all chanting the same thing.

"This cannot continue."

"This cannot continue."

"This cannot continue."

"This cannot continue."

"This cannot continue."

Surprising him even more the machines began climbing onto a broken roof structure. Then they started to climb on top of one another and eventually formed a massive sphere.

"..." Vergil continued to watch waiting for their next course of action.

Then the most disgusting thing he witnessed happened. Cracking open like an egg the shell released something covered in liquid as it fell to the ground.

"What the hell?" he hissed.

Vergil frowned at what he was witnessing, lying on the ground was what appeared to be a human with white long hair and in the nude. It lacked any reproductive organs much to Vergil's relief, and seem to share the same height as him. Still it was disturbing for the half-demon to see it's "birth."

'How utterly repulsive. These machines actually gave life to something.' Some demons were less disgusting than this.

Rising up from the ground the machine stood up and open its eyes revealing red irises. The machine and half-demon gazed at each other in silence. 'Is it attempting to replicate my appearance? After showing my capabilities they still don't understand the power I hold.' he gripped his fist as he prepared to perform a Judgement Cut.

Before he could execute it the machine got shot from the back. Turning around the machine and Vergil saw four women and a girl on the opposite side of the field. They wore black and white clothing as they held their weapons out. Each Android had an angered look on their face, by their side were Pods with their mini-guns out in the open.

'Those girls...they too wear those uniforms. They must be hunting me after I humiliated the blonde.' Vergil concluded.

Just as he was about to engage with them his brain offered a different idea. He contemplated, he doesn't know the geography of this place but he has something he needs to do. Not to mention he just learned this technique but hasn't fully mastered it, but it was worth a try.

Turning away from them Vergil brought out Yamato and proceeded to cut the air in a vertical and horizontal slash. A few moments later the cuts opened up revealing a dark blue portal glowing in front of him.

'Seems I was able to execute it properly. But where will it take me?'

Entering the portal he heard the women calling out to him. But at that point it was already too late, after his body disappeared into the abyss it closed shortly after.

[City Ruins]

"You still don't trust me huh. I feel so hurt." Dante said dramatically with his hand clutching his chest.

"Quit bitching and find those materials." Jackass said in the distance, she was standing along side a guard.

"If I may ask, why did you decide to come with us?" the guard questioned her.

"Well since you like being nosy, the truth is-" she covered her mouth as she turned to the Android wielding a shotgun. She uttered something and caused both of them to laugh in unison. Back with Dante he was in a grassy field with the other guard watching him by his side.

"Yeesh. After all of that boring stuff when they had me cuffed they still need to put me under watch. What am I, a child?" Dante said to himself as he picked up a copper ore, or at least he thinks it is. Is it normal to find natural metal above the surface?

Inspecting it closer Dante concluded that "If it looks like a penny then it is a penny." He tossed the ore over to the guard that was beside him. He grabbed it with one hand and stashed it in a bag.

'Geez, finding rocks to get my stuff back isn't something I thought I would be doing.'

The pair made their way back to the others.

'Hmph. At least they don't got me doing paperwork or else I'll be stiff.'

Even though Dante initially agreed to helping Anemone he was having second thoughts if he knew it was gonna be this boring. Truth is Dante knew where Rebellion was the whole time, the power it radiated was just something he couldn't ignore even if he wanted to. He felt it begging for him to come back into his possession yet he knew the consequences that would happen if it just suddenly disappeared.

So far Dante was able to find the majority of the stuff he was looking for as they left the grassy field. Now reuniting with Jackass and the other guard the devil hunter asked her.

"What's with the gloves?"

Jackass put on a sadistic smile as she saw a nearby stubby and approached it. It looked up to her and she gripped it and pressed down. It started to short circuit as she let go and returned to the group. A second later it exploded. The guards' jaws were agape, Dante however was clapping his hands in amazement.

"Woah. Nice job babe you sure know how to give it a wake-up call." he commented.

"Thanks. I made it just for you." She said with a smile, his clapping ceased shortly after. Looking back at the list Dante turned towards the group.

"The hell is this?" Jackass took the paper and read the contents.

"These you can find them in machines. Shouldn't be a problem with you would it? Just don't destroy the bodies and you'll be done in no time."

'Finally, something to pass the time.' He thought. Ever since he met her those metal cans were the only thing that offered him amusement.

He smiled abruptly but something came up.

He didn't realize it before but he noticed something Jackass hasn't mentioned.

'She saw me use Beowulf, Artemis, and Kalina Ann. She hasn't questioned me about it. Is she keeping it a secret or did she tell Aneme-anona-anememem-FUCK IT APRIL!'

Just then his demonic senses picked up something that made his eyes widened. Looking beyond his group he gazed at a part of the city with an overgrown tree sitting on top of one of the buildings. The group saw him looking and confronted him.

"Hey you holding up there?" Jackass questioned. She received no answer in return.

"So you came to me this time?" he whispered. This only confused the scientist.

"What?" She reaches out to touch him only for him to run away towards the direction he was staring at.

"DANTE!" Jackass along with the guards began chasing him. That part of the city had a recent surge in machines lately. So it concerned the scientist on why he's going there.

Dante ran up one of their tall fences before disappearing behind it. The fence was built between two buildings so the Androids couldn't proceed any further. The fences were ridiculously tall and these buildings had no entryways to cut through.

"What the fuck Dante?" Jackass yelled annoyed that he straight up abandoned the group. But that didn't make any sense he wanted his weaponry back and running away didn't seem logical.

While Jackass pondered on his actions she didn't notice one of the guards approaching her. He tapped her shoulder, she turned around and saw one of them answering a call from Anemone.

"Hey Anemone, what's up?" the scientist kept her composure. The Resistance leader however looked at her with a worried expression.

"Where's Dante?" she asked.

'Shit. What am I suppose to say?' the rogue thought.

Scratching the back of her head the woman looked at her, "He uhh sort of left us."

The leader's eyes widened at her statement. The scientist was so confused at her behavior. "What do you mean? Where is he?"

"He...just ran off. Just like that." she snapped her fingers to emphasize her point. Anemone just stared at her for few good seconds before typing away at her HUD "I'm sending your location to a couple of YoRHa units. They'll be with you shortly."

'Wait, YoRHa? What the hell does White want with him?'

"Why is YoRHa getting involved with this?" Jackass crossed her arms in curiosity.

Anemone took a deep breath, and uttered a few words to her.

Back with Dante he ran across the city ignoring all the machines around him. He ran upward on a building and hopped onto the roof. Jumping across different roofs he saw Small Flyers nearby. They didn't seem to attack him but he didn't pay mind to them, he jumped on top of one and continued to hop onto another. Making his way through the ruins Dante felt the all-familiar power on top of a skyscraper. Dropping onto an opening he looked around, a grassy field surrounded by buildings.

Dante smiled 'He always know where to pick the right spots.'

Looking up at the tall structure he devil-triggered and flew up towards the highest level. Landing on the floor with a thud he reverted back to his human form. Lifting his head up Dante saw machine corpses lying about with a tree hugging the building covering everything with shade.

On the opposite side of the room was the dark outline of a man in a long blue coat. He seemed to be looking forward into a small hole in the wall giving off a nice view of the ruins. Hearing the devil hunter land he turned around.

"Dante."

"Vergil."
