prompt fifty five: throne

Fifty five out of one hundred.

One last look into Queen Lucy and dragon Natsu. Thank you all for following me along this incredible journey of these two. Much love! Also, I wanted to see everyone's opinion on posting some of these prompts as individual stories. I have been getting a lot of requests lately but I feel like it would take away from this entire prompt series… let me know and I'll see what I can do. *kisses*

Natsu rushed down the halls, ignoring the looks and cries from the knights and staff. He pushed half of them out his way as they kept coming right to him, his long legs carrying him farther down. He zipped through the halls, rounding corners and sprinting to the very end of the hall to burst through a set of doors.

His chest heaved with his recent exercise but his heart was pounding for all different types of reasons, his eyes wide and darting around the seemingly empty room. He rushed over to the bathroom, flinging the door open to see his queen jump and quickly hide something behind her.

She looked like a deer in headlights, eyes wide and red, body rigid and hands tightly clasped behind her back.

"N—Natsu!" She said, seeing how he stood before her. "W—what—?"

He came marching up right towards her, her small body tensing up at his proximity. He knew he smelt something salty.

"Why are you crying?" He asked, seeing how her red-rimmed eyes were swollen and looking at him with tears in her eyes. "Who made my queen cry?"

"I—I am not crying—"

"I can smell your tears," he wiped at the single tear that fell from her orbs. "Why is my queen so sad? Who do I need to beat up?"

The way she casted her head down and bit down on her bottom lip made his eyebrows furrow. Worry rushed through him and he could only clench his fist at the thought of someone upsetting his queen.

"Who—"

"I just wanted a snack!" She blurted out and Natsu blinked stupidly at her, staring at her embarrassed flustered self as she fidgeted. She slowly brought her hands from behind her to show him the cookies she had snuck in and hidden behind her, a small pout on her lips. "My advisor said I cannot be scumming to my cravings all the time or it will create bad habits. I… I just really wanted some cookies."

Natsu looked down at the half-ripped up packet of cookies that laid in her palm before he looked back up to look at the teary face of the queen, large brown eyes brimming with salty tears and her bottom lip jutted out.

"I am sorry! Do not tell my advisor! I will not do it again!" She cried out and her face fell into her palms as she began to sob.

Her small figure shook with her emotions and Natsu could only let out a sigh of relief as he realized this was not as dire as it seemed.

Wrapping his arms around her trembling figure, Natsu pulled her into his chest, making sure to be thoughtful of her swollen belly that bumped right into him. He cradled her in his arms with one hand against her back while the other came to rub at her belly.

"If you want some cookies just eat the damn cookies, Luce. It will not hurt you nor the baby," he cooed, brushing her hair out of her face as she wiped at her face. "Screw your advisor. If you are craving anything—anything at all.. you let me know. I will bring you whatever, my queen. Please, stop crying." He helped wipe the mess on her face away, smiling softly at the adorable woman.

Lucy hiccuped as she willed herself to calm down, her face getting red and swollen from the many tears she spilled. The cookies had fallen from her grasp during the time she cried and Natsu consoled her but it didn't mean she wanted them any less.

"The baby wanted cookies?"

"Baby wanted cookies." She nodded her head, pouting while sniffling.

"Then the baby gets cookies." He bent down to swipe at the cookies that laid on the ground and he resumed the task of opening them up for her. Once he did, he held it out for her and she leaned in to accept the sweet treat. He found her utterly adorable as she sniffled and chewed, a small blush adorning her cheeks as she caught his eye.

He leaned in and pressed a sweet kiss against her forehead, running his hand down from her hair all the way down her back, placing his palm against her hip.

"Feeling better?"

She hummed in delight, leaning into his embrace and nodding her head. She gave him a soft peck on the cheek and he grinned, pecking her right back on her own cheek.

It had been over a year since he was captured by the Balam kingdom. A kingdom that no longer exists thanks to him. He barely remembered the fight with Mard Geer, only remembering bits and pieces where he finally had blown him up into pieces in the very end. And it was all thanks to Lucy he was able to do that. Who knew her blood would drive him this mad?

Mard Geer was a dirty bastard who played dirtier and he had full intentions of destroying both Erza and Lucy right under his nose. It resulted in Erza losing an eye and Lucy nearly being ripped to pieces and that was when he had realized Lucy was with child. Or was.

Lucy explained to him afterwards that she was indeed with child during the time of his rescue. Something the two of them worked hard to obtain and he knew how much it meant to Lucy at the time but Mard Geer had plans to wipe them all out and bring him back to the Balam kingdom.

What he didn't know was that during this moment, Lucy's magic was being used to protect the child so she wasn't at her full potential. But the issue was… neither was he as he was weak from being beaten and starved. When things had turned in the favor of Mard Geer, Lucy had brought forth her powers that were used to protect the child and instead, protected him instead.

The amount of blood she had lost that night was alarming. It had his nose twitching like crazy and for some reason, his mouth salivated. He just wanted to clean her up and tend to her like a wounded animal and watching her at her full capacity honestly kind of scared him.

"Open thy malevolent gate. Oh 88 stars of the heaven… Shine!"

He has never seen magic like this where he was surrounded by all sorts of colorful orbs and light. Such powerful strength he felt from her from the start was hidden behind such beauty and as he watched first hand how Lucy tore this demon to pieces, seeing her afterwards didn't help at all.

She was all battered and was bleeding from her open gash on her shoulder to her thighs. Deep thick blood spattered down her thighs and he was in shock, screaming at her limp body because he didn't know what was going on.

It wasn't until he heard Erza say something about the baby he finally knew.

She had lost their baby protecting them. Protecting him. She was pregnant!

After that, he only saw red and the next time he woke up, he was back at the Celestial kingdom. Apparently, he had flown right into their borders again and they had brought him back inside where he spent the last two weeks sleeping and healing.

Word was, he had destroyed the entire Balam kingdom on his own, leaving nothing but ash and ruins in his wake. King Zeref had disappeared in the end with him taking down the entire kingdom, burning everything to the ground with his red hot fiery flames. He barely remembered any of it and he was sure it had something to do with his battered queen and lost child.

He was just glad she was safe and sound and he was, too.

The first few months were hard. Lucy had cried a lot and he had tried to console her because it wasn't easy losing a child. Especially a child they worked so hard on and desperately needed.

She had a lot of healing to do on her own and he did too. It was hard not to see his queen right after since she also spent a good week asleep. But once he was able to get up and move around, he was instantly at her side, holding her and comforting her as she shed tears and mourned the loss of their baby.

He felt like it was his fault entirely. If he hadn't left the kingdom in the first place, he would have never been captured and Lucy would have never gotten in the position to get hurt or miscarry.

But Lucy was quick to shut that down very fast, claiming she would do it over a hundred times if it meant he would be with her.

She had nightmares for weeks. Crying out and sobbing in the midst of her sleep and Natsu had to help her through that. There were many times he had woken up to her eyes glowing and body shaking and he had to ground her to help her calm down.

"I know you have a nest you are looking for but… but I would really love it if you stayed. I will help with locating your nest but please… stay with me. I… I love you."

While his original task of finding his nest still lingered, Natsu now had other priorities. And that was his queen. He had been looking for his home for too many years with no real lead. For once, he had a home and a family to return to. Someone who was waiting for him. Someone who loved him. Someone who would protect him till their very last breath. And someone he was willing to do the same as well.

"Lucy… there is one other way we could still get pregnant."

"You mean another way instead of waiting for your heat next year?"

"But it is pretty serious… I do not know if you would like this." He was feeling bashful as he stood in front of her, all sorts of bandages wrapped around his torso. It's been nearly a month since they have returned home and he was still healing. Seeing how Lucy was pretty much all healed up showed how strong her magic was currently, especially since she didn't have a child she had to protect any longer.

"I would have to claim you. Once I claim you, my body goes into a week of heat because of the powerful force we will share. That could be our next chance until the next coming summer. But that is only if you want to! We can wait till—"

"Claim me, Natsu."

It stunned him to hear her so easily accept his claim considering that meant they would be bound together forever. It warmed his heart and he had been wanting to claim her since the very beginning of their contract but always thought against it.

"Lucy… this is not something to take lightly. It will mean you and will be mated forever."

"I want to be," she gave him a bashful smile, pink dusting her cheeks. "I want to be with you forever."

And now six months later, Lucy was swollen with his seed and they were back on track. It was much easier for her to get pregnant this time and she didn't have any trouble being with child after that week.

Maybe it had to do with the fact that he hadn't touched her or been with her in a very long time or they were in the process of claiming one another forever but their love making had become intense. They spent an entire week locked away just drowning in one another and while they both hoped it would result in pregnancy, they were just happy to be back together in each other's arms and forgetting about the rest of the world.

"Are you ready?" Lucy asked with a bright smile on her face as she smoothed down the front of his shirt.

She had her beautiful crown on top of her golden head, dressed in her finest family jewels and a cape that dragged behind her. Her swollen belly was masked behind all her clothing and dress but Natsu could still clearly see it as he held her by the stomach.

He gave her back a warm smile, his arms wrapped around her as she giggled cutely.

"As ready as I could ever be."

His coronation was an all day event and an entire week celebration. Dressed in the family jewels, Natsu had become a part of the Celestial kingdom and their king as he had proven his worth and loyalty to not only the queen but as well as the entire kingdom. Anyone with the power to destroy an entire kingdom, especially a dark one like the Balam, was worthy of the title as king and nobody could question his strength.

With Lucy as his wife and his official queen, Natsu had gone through his initiation as becoming a celestial citizen and the official king in front of the entire kingdom.

He never had plans to become king nor a father but it was funny how things worked. He hadn't been a man who believed in such fairy tales like this. Meeting a queen by chance and becoming her lover. Coming into such power like a king and then harboring a child as well.

His family was somewhere out there and he couldn't wait to find them again one day and tell them all about how not all humans were nasty, vile creatures. How this beautiful gentle queen took care of him and gave him such a wonderful life that he believed every day he was still in a dream.

Someone who loved him for him and someone who didn't care what or who he was. Someone who gave him purpose once again.

And as the days drew closer to Lucy's birth, Natsu could only buzz with excitement as he helped with preparations. Setting up the nursery was his favorite thing to do and while they did not know the sex of the child just yet, he was hoping for a little girl.

He loved Lucy so much that having another mini her would surely make his heart explode. It was funny how he had such protective instincts when it came to Lucy and his baby since his dragon heritage wasn't the type to be an overbearing father. Usually, the hatchlings were on their own after their birth and while the parents did watch over them during their youth, it was more of the mother's job to help them along life challenges.

But Natsu was willing to do anything and everything for his child. The entire kingdom was buzzing with excitement as an heir would finally be produced and while Natsu did care about the heir since Lucy did, all he ever wanted was his family.

All he knew was that he would protect her and their children till his very breath and in a weird way, he could only thank those human poachers for kidnapping him the very first time. If he was never separated from his nest, he would have never crashed into the Celestial kingdom's borders and he would have never gotten to meet the love of his life.

Because through it all, it was all for her.
