Anway Disclaimers: I DO NOT OWN ANY OF THE TWILIGHT CHARACTERS OR ANYTHING IN THAT UNIVERSE, THAT BELONGS TO STEPHANIE MEYER! THANK YOU AND HAVE A GREAT DAY!

Having the Volturi guards watching out for her, wasn't as bad as Dru initially thought. At first, she had been a little creeped out, but as time went by she began to accept the fact they were going to be a part of her life. Felix and Alec had become her favorites in less than a week, and while she enjoyed Demetri, she and Jane still had yet to see eye to eye, but that was a later problem.

Presently, Dru found herself sitting upright in her bed, a migraine beginning to form as she stared at the paper. "Imaginary numbers," she grumbled, under her breath. "As if dealing with letters in math wasn't bull shit enough." With an exasperated huff, she decided to admit defeat for the night, casting the papers to the floor, glaring at them as they now scattered beside her bed.

"Math is stupid," she muttered angrily, voice laced with contempt. "Language of the universe my ass." Flopping back onto her bed with an exasperated huff, Dru's gaze wandered upwards to her ceiling, her thoughts drifting to her supposed mates. The three Volturi kings were destined to be her mates, and yet they hadn't made any form of contact with her. The realization had left her with a mix of relief, and an oddly disappointed. She didn't know anything about them, other than they were old as hell, enforced the law, and were the kings of the vampire race.

A thought entered her head, that greatly amused her. She wondered if they did not possess the means to contact her, a chuckle escaped her at this. Surely a coven that has seen the rise and fall of civilizations has embraced some sort of modern communication. Phones were essential these days, at least in her mind. Lost in her musings, she shifted her attention towards her window, contemplating whether or not she should ask her guard. She knew they were out there, somewhere shrouded in darkness, no doubt bored out of their minds. Maybe her question would add some amusement for them as well, with a slight smirk, she moved to open her window.

A mischievous giggle escaped her as she whispered, "Psst...babysitters...psst." Relishing in the momentary silence, as she fought to contain her laughter, noting with amusement at the fact that not a single one of the guards bothered to make their presence known. Pursing her lips in defiance, a sly smirk followed as she spoke "You know, if none of you make your presence known, I might just let my intrusive thoughts take over." She bit her lip while looking down, currently on the second floor of her house.

Almost instantly, a voice broke the silence. "Do it, and I'll nail your window shut." Looking up, Dru found Felix staring at her from the tree that was just a few feet from her window.

"Should have answered the first time, Giant," she teased, his red eyes rolled at that. Honestly, this human girl had proven to be more trouble than any of the guards had initially thought. They had heard bits and pieces when the Cullens and their human were in the throne room, about how the girl had attempted to fight a nomad, and even saw the damage she had caused from punching a werewolf in the face, however, it seemed the girl actively tried to test them.

Felix's gaze remained fixed on Dru, his eyes assessing her with caution, swiftly scanning how close she was to her window. He moved closer then, which forced the girl to move back a bit. He had no desire to confront her, but he would if she decided to be reckless and jump from the window. "What is it you require, Dru?" He asked, his voice dripping with irritation.

A taunting smile found Dru's lips, "you sound as if you don't want to see me." Her eyes playfully narrowed as she assessed him. "Deep down, Giant, you know you are growing to love me, you might as well admit it."

Felix rolled his eyes in response, a deep sigh escaping his lips as he attempted to dismiss the thoughts of throttling the girl. He shook his head, knowing Aro would not take too kindly to any volatile notions towards the girl. "Dru," he responded, "do you need something?"

Dru noticed his shift in demeanor, as the guard tried to keep his composure, her eyes softening as she slowly nodded. "Well, Giant," she began, not missing the way his eyes narrowed once more at the nickname. "I was wondering if there was a way to communicate with my supposed mates?" The question startled him, as his eyes widened. "I mean, I haven't received any calls from them, no messages, and I can't help but be curious.. do their ancient asses not keep up with tech?"

A thoughtful expression appeared on Felix's face, his mind working to process her inquiry. Carefully considering her words, and noted her obvious concerns. "Aro," he began, his voice not laced with a small amount of amusement as he spoke, "has shown a keen interest in the modern world. However, I am afraid Caius and Marcus do not share his enthusiasm for such devices." His gaze shifted momentarily shifted to her phone, which lay on the bed. "They have yet to acquire mobile communications, but that can always be rectified."

Dru nodded, clearly amused at the fact that with how old they were, the three kings were not up with the times. Aro may have an interest but that wasn't the same as being up to date with all the advances in the world, she could not help the slight chuckle that escaped at that. "I guess it makes sense, they are ancient as fuck." She muttered, hearing the guard let out a slight cough, looking up to see he was struggling not to laugh. "You know you can laugh at my jokes, it's okay." She teased.

His resolve seemed to crack, as a smile began to spread across the guard's face, the amusement rare on in his usual stoic facade. He glanced around for a moment, knowing his fellow guards were watching, and no doubt listening to the entire conversation. He knew Jane would be the least amused by their 'Queen's' antics, but honestly, he found it rather refreshing. "You may be on to something," he finally said, turning his attention back to her. "They are ancient as fuck."

The corners of Dru's lips curled upward, even if she was a little surprised at the guard in front of her. The mischievous look in her eye, lit up however as she began laughing. "There ya go, we gonna be stuck in this world for eternity," her brow raised a little for a moment, as she tried to gain some sort of composure. "A little laughter isn't gonna hurt anything."

He nodded, letting a soft chuckle escape him, a sound that was rare from the guard. "You do have a point," he mused, conceding with her antics.

"See, Giant," she exclaimed happily, gaining a slightly confused look on his face. "We are making progress in our friendship already, pretty soon we will regularly crack jokes, like regular comedians."

Felix studied her for a moment, he had to admit it was nice that she did not actively avoid him like most did. His structure, and his ability to simply rip other vampires apart, did have others avoid him more often than not. The only person ever giving him the time of day was his soul-brother, Demetri. However now, here is a girl, a human girl at that, and she not only did not fear him but actively wanted to build a friendship. "I guess you are right," he said after a moment, smiling at her warmly.

"Absolutely, I am right, and you know what, I have made a decision." She giggled, gently inviting him into her room. "You are my favorite out of the guard."

Her declaration, caused the guard to stumble back in surprise, no one had singled him out as their favorite. A warmth began to spread through his undead heart at her words, "Your favorite?" He questioned for a moment, watching her face for any sign of deception, but he could find none. It was at that moment, that Felix made a silent decision that he would stand by his new Queen's side, no matter what the future held. She had gained his loyalty, not with cheap tricks, but because she was genuine. "I am honored, my Queen."

"What have I told you about titles?" She asked, her face wrinkled in mild annoyance.

He chuckled, before nodding, his voice warm as he spoke. "I apologize, Dru." He whispered, voice laced with sincerity.

Her annoyance was gone as soon as it had appeared, smiling at her new friend. "Can you do me a favor?" She asked softly, to which he nodded without missing a beat. "I am assuming the guard as a way of communicating with Volterra."

"We do," he inclined his head curiously.

"I'm gonna speak with Daddy Cullen, and see if I can arrange for cellphones to be sent to the kings. Can, you please make sure they get them?"

Felix's eyes softened more, his loyalty for the girl growing a little more, as he listened to her plea. The significance of her being open to communication with her mates was a good step forward for their future. "Consider it done," he said before his eyes wandered over to the small alarm clock on her nightstand. "You need to get some sleep, I do believe you have school tomorrow."

Following his eye, to found the time read 11:30 at night. "Yeah, I do." She agreed, even if the idea annoyed her to no end, but she turned back to him. "Thank you, Giant."

In Volterra

Heidi chuckled, as she carried a package in her hands, she had received word of the infamous mate of her kings. She must say, this Drusilla Swan was a funny girl, and from what she had gathered would compliment her masters nicely. She personally could not wait to meet the spirited young woman, as she knocked on Aro's study.

"Ah, Heidi," Aro greeted, he and his brothers currently sitting around the desk centered in the room, old books littering about the room. "What is that you are holding?"

The guard's red lips curled up into a bright grin, she had noticed that there had been a change within her masters, they were as a whole happier, more relaxed. She could not help but hope that the day she found her mate, she would have the same change within her. "The guard has made contact with, Drusila Swan."

All three turned to her now, giving the female their full attention. "Ah, che meraviglia!" Aro exclaimed, regarding Heidi warmly, his gleefulness was always such a refreshing approach to the vampire world.

"Well, what do the guard say?" Caius demanded, not wasting time on pleasantries, he wanted to know his mate, everything about her.

Nodding, Heidi began, "She is spirited, and enjoys causing trouble for the elite members of our guard." She explained, chuckling softly. "Currently, she is refusing to allow them to call her a Queen, it is Dru or nothing, she has also declared Felix to be her favorite."

That surprised the three men, Felix was no one's favorite. To be honest, they had originally thought to send Afton instead of the brute, but it seemed they had made the right call. "Fascinating," Aro whispered in awe, his and his brother's eyes moving toward the box. "What is in the box?" Noting the Cullen crest, plastered on top.

"Your mate has a demand," Heidi replied, shocking the three once more, and causing the younger guard to chuckle.

"A demand, of us?" Caius hissed, a little annoyed at the mere implication.

Marcus curiously looked on. "What is her demand?"

Heidi all but glided towards the trio, with innate grace, her movements quick and elegant. With utmost care, she opened the box, revealing three sleek and modern cellular devices nestled within. "Drusilla wishes to establish a means of communication with you," she spoke, her voice betraying her genuine delight for her masters.

Crimson eyes widened, as Aro stared at the small devices. All three were black, and the pale candlelight that lit up the room seemed to illuminate the large glass screen. "How fascinating," he murmured, he remembered the joy he had found when speaking to his mate through the device Bella had with her. He noted how both of his brothers seemed skeptical of the devices, Marcus a bit more open than Caius.

"May I?" Heidi asked, to which Aro nodded. The guard, gently placed the box down on the table, so she could carefully pluck one of the mobile's out of the box, revealing the back of the phone was a rather nice shade of crimson. "I believe this one is yours, Master Caius," Heidi replied, pressing the button on the side, to turn the device on. When the screen lit up, it revealed a picture of a beautiful young woman, her pale-ivory skin, complemented by her rich mahogany hair, however, what stood out was her eyes. They were dual-color, her left being a deep brown color, but her right was an enchanting electric blue. Aro recognized her instantly from seeing her within the See's mind, and couldn't help but be awestruck.

"Brothers, this is our mate," Aro breathed, his voice filled with a hushed reverence as his gaze locked on the captivating beauty staring back at him from the screen. Heidi smiled softly as she handed the phone over to Caius slowly, the blonde carefully and delicately taking the device. His fingers trailed over her features, the universe had seemingly blessed them with an angel, as he continued to observe her with a mix of desire and curiosity.

Heidi, moved quickly to get the other two devices on, the back of Aro's new phone was blue, while Marcus had green. However, they all held the same picture. She also spent a few moments to show them how to text on the device, and then she left her masters to become entranced with the technology, that promised them a bridge of communication.

OOH, who do you think is going to contact her first...we have a way to communicate now, and well lets be honest the world is truly their oyster...hmm, hope you all are enjoying the fact that this is very much a slow-burn story. I know my past stories have been rather fast paste, and I wanted this one to be on the slower side, to savor the romance in the future chapters.
