Chapter 5: A Dangerous Job

The Lagoon Company successfully completed their ambush at the port, securing the shipment of arms and valuable intelligence supplies. As they navigated the stolen ship through the murky waters, the air was filled with a sense of accomplishment. However, their victory was short-lived.

As they approached a narrow channel leading back to their base, the stillness of the night was shattered by a barrage of gunfire. The ship lurched as bullets tore through its hull, and Sebastian's instincts kicked in immediately.

"It's an ambush!" Dutch shouted, diving for cover. "Everyone, get down!"

Sebastian ducked behind a crate, his heart pounding. He could see the outlines of several speedboats approaching, their occupants heavily armed and firing relentlessly. The Colombian cartels had caught up with them, and they were outnumbered and outgunned.

Revy, with her usual ferocity, returned fire, her twin pistols spitting bullets at the attackers. "Come on, you bastards!" she yelled, a manic grin on her face. "You want a fight? You've got one!"

Rock, though less experienced in combat, remained calm, assisting Benny in securing the valuable intelligence supplies. Dutch, ever the leader, barked orders and coordinated their defense.

Sebastian focused on the approaching cartel members, picking them off with precise shots. But despite their best efforts, the cartel's sheer numbers began to overwhelm them.

"Dutch, we're getting overrun!" Benny called out, his voice strained with urgency.

Dutch grimaced, reloading his weapon. "We need to hold them off until we can make a break for it. Sebastian, cover our flank!"

Sebastian moved swiftly, taking up a position where he could provide effective cover. As he fired at the advancing enemies, one of the cartel members caught sight of him and shouted something in Spanish.

"It's him! The special forces soldier who has been hunting us in Colombia!"

The revelation sent a shockwave through the attackers. They intensified their assault, clearly intent on capturing or killing Sebastian. His identity had been compromised, and now the cartel was hell-bent on taking him down.

Dutch glanced at Sebastian, a mixture of surprise and curiosity in his eyes. "Special forces, huh? We'll talk about that later. Right now, we need to survive this."

Sebastian nodded, his focus unbroken. "I'll explain everything. Just keep them off us."

The battle raged on, the Lagoon Company fighting with everything they had. Sebastian's training and experience proved invaluable, his movements precise and calculated. He took down several cartel members, but the relentless attack showed no signs of letting up.

Revy, fighting nearby, shot him a look of grudging respect. "You've got skills, soldier boy. Let's see if we can use them to get out of this mess."

The fight continued, the Lagoon Company gradually gaining the upper hand despite their initial disadvantage. Finally, with a coordinated effort, they managed to disable the cartel's speedboats, forcing the remaining attackers to retreat.

As the gunfire ceased, the Lagoon Company regrouped, their breaths heavy and adrenaline still coursing through their veins. Dutch looked around, ensuring everyone was accounted for.

"Everyone okay?" he asked, his eyes scanning his team.

"We're good," Benny replied, checking the supplies. "And we've still got the intel."

Revy holstered her pistols, her usual bravado tempered by exhaustion. "That was close. Too close."

Rock approached Sebastian, his expression filled with curiosity. "Special forces, huh? There's more to you than meets the eye."

Sebastian nodded, taking a moment to catch his breath. "I didn't mean to keep it a secret. I just… didn't want to draw attention to myself."

Dutch clapped him on the shoulder. "You've got some explaining to do, Sebastian. But right now, we need to get out of here and back to base."

As they navigated the ship through the channel, Sebastian took out his phone and discreetly snapped photos of the eliminated cartel members. He knew his commanders in Colombia would need proof of the threat he faced and the enemies he had taken down. He quickly sent the images, along with a brief report, detailing the encounter and the identities of the cartel members they had faced.

When they finally reached the safety of their base, Dutch gathered the team for a debriefing. "Alright, Sebastian. It's time to come clean. What's the real story?"

Sebastian took a deep breath, ready to reveal his past. "I was part of the Colombian special forces. My mission was to be part of a shock unit against the guerrillas and it went quite well for several months we earned a leave of absence I met her in a coffee shop in 's how I met Roberta. She used me to get information, but despite everything, I fell in love with her. After she disappeared, I couldn't let it go. That's why I'm here."

Revy leaned back, a smirk playing on her lips. "So, you're not just a lovesick soldier. You're a lovesick special forces soldier. Makes more sense now."

Rock nodded, his expression thoughtful. "You've been through a lot, Sebastian. And you're still willing to risk everything to find her."

Dutch folded his arms, his gaze steady. "We've all got our reasons for being here. Yours just happens to be a bit more complicated. But you've proven yourself tonight. You've got our support."

Back at the Lagoon Company base, the team began tending to their wounds and preparing for their next steps. Sebastian, despite his stoic demeanor, had taken several hits during the ambush, and now that the adrenaline was wearing off, the pain was starting to set in.

"Alright, soldier boy, let's get you patched up," Revy said, guiding him to a makeshift medical area. She wasn't exactly gentle, but her hands were surprisingly steady as she began cleaning and bandaging his wounds.

"You're lucky, you know," Benny commented as he brought over a med kit. "Shrapnel wounds can be nasty."

Sebastian winced as Revy applied antiseptic to a particularly deep cut. "I've been through worse. Thanks for the help."

Dutch walked over, inspecting the bandaging process. "You did good out there, Sebastian. Took a few hits, but you held your own. We'll get through this."

Rock, always the optimist, smiled. "You'll be back on your feet in no time. Just rest for now."

As the team finished tending to their injuries, they began to unwind. The tension from the battle gradually dissipated, replaced by a sense of camaraderie and relief. They had made it through another fight, and now it was time to collect their payment and enjoy a brief respite.

Dutch returned from a meeting with their client, a satisfied grin on his face. "Payment's in. We did good tonight."

Revy's eyes lit up. "Drinks are on me, then! Let's celebrate."

They gathered around, enjoying a few drinks and sharing stories from their past adventures. The atmosphere was light, a stark contrast to the violence they had just endured. Sebastian found himself relaxing, the pain from his wounds dulling as the camaraderie of his new friends took center stage.

Their celebration was interrupted by the arrival of an unexpected visitor. The door creaked open, and a tall, strikingly beautiful blonde nun with piercing blue eyes walked in. She moved with a grace that commanded attention, and her presence immediately silenced the room.

"Who's that?" Benny whispered, clearly intrigued.

Dutch's expression darkened slightly. "Eda. She's with the Rip-Off Church."

Eda's gaze swept over the room, finally landing on Sebastian. There was something in her eyes, a mix of curiosity and amusement, as she approached him. "Well, well. Who do we have here?"

Sebastian, despite his fatigue and injuries, couldn't help but be captivated by her. He managed a charming smile. "A soldier who got a little roughed up, but still standing. And you, Sister, must be the most beautiful nun I've ever seen."

Eda raised an eyebrow, clearly taken aback by his bold compliment. "Flattery will get you everywhere, soldier."

Revy snickered, clearly enjoying the exchange. "Watch out, Eda. He's got a way with words."

Eda's amused smile lingered as she studied Sebastian. "I've heard about you. The special forces guy looking for the Bloodhound of Florencia. Interesting."

Sebastian nodded, his gaze steady. "I've come a long way to find her. And I won't stop until I do."

Eda's eyes sparkled with intrigue. "You've got guts. I like that. Maybe I can help you out. For a price, of course."

Dutch stepped in, his tone cautious. "What do you want, Eda?"

Eda shrugged, her expression turning playful. "Oh, nothing much. Just a favor down the line. You know how it works."

Dutch exchanged a glance with Sebastian, who gave a subtle nod. "We'll consider it. But for now, we're just trying to stay alive."

Eda smiled, clearly satisfied. "Fair enough. I'll be around. Don't be a stranger, Sebastian."

As she left, the room gradually returned to its previous atmosphere. The team continued their celebration, but Sebastian couldn't shake the feeling that Eda's appearance was more than just a coincidence.

Rock, sensing his unease, offered a reassuring pat on the back. "She's a wild card, but she can be useful. Just be careful."

Sebastian nodded, his mind already working through the possibilities. The journey to find Roberta was far from over, and the path ahead was filled with uncertainty. But with the Lagoon Company by his side and new allies emerging, he felt more prepared than ever to face whatever challenges lay ahead.

As the night wore on, the team's laughter and camaraderie filled the air, a brief respite in a world of chaos. Sebastian allowed himself to enjoy the moment, knowing that the fight would resume soon enough. But for now, he was content, surrounded by friends and allies, each step bringing him closer to the woman he loved and the answers he sought.
