Hey yo! I'm back. At least with one more chapter. I had a really hard time deciding how I wanted to portray the characters in this fic so I'm going to address a few things. Firstly, I'm going to be removing a few things that happened in the main canon. Firstly without Cinder continuing her villain career the fall of beacon will probably not happen. Also, another divergence from canon will be Ruby's semblance, I'm not going into full detail quite yet but let's say that basically, it's a full speed semblance instead of what she had in canon. The pov is going to be jumping around a lot. So be ready for that a lot. I'll probably still be doing third person but I'm combining it awkwardly with first in a weird way. So please all, bear with me. And after re reading my first chapter I noticed some things I wanted to change, mainly Ruby's first name. So, I will be editing and re-uploading the first chapter to reflect that. I'm changing her name to ember fall (I know, real original.) I saw the name in the fic, family of ember fall and I just thought it was perfect for the situation. So, to the author Vengefulfate, if you ever read this, firstly, I've loved every story you've ever written. Secondly, I'm sorry for borrowing the name. If it bugs you, send me a message or leave a review and I'll change it again. Also, I had to give Weiss a middle name to make a decent team name for Team RWBYsince there is no longer an R. Sorry for the inconvenience of the long AN. Once again, all reviews and criticism, both good and bad, are appreciated so please. Let me know how I'm doing. Without further ado, GO TEAM!
"Great. Of all the things that could have happened I knocked over this self entitled girl trying to stay away from Yang." Ember thought to herself as she simply glared at the girl yelling at her. She was saying some nonsense about dust but all Ember could see was the small red mist leaving the container in her hand.
"Yeah. I'm gonna cut you off there Ice Bitch. Your vial is leaking. Maybe spend less time stuck in your superiority complex and more time with your eyes open yeah?" She said with a scowl.
The aforementioned Ice Bitch's eyes widened in fury as she glared at the girl. Still not noticing the dust before she herself sneezed. And set the two of them practically on fire. "What the heck is your issue!" She continued yelling at Ember.
"I mean, pointing out something is one thing but calling me a bitch. Really? You could have more tact." She continued to glare at Ember. "I mean, do you even know who I am?"
"Weiss Schnee, heiress to the Schnee Dust Company: one of the largest producers of energy propellant in the world... The same company infamous for its controversial labor forces and questionable business partners." A voice added from behind Ember. She handed a container of dust back to Weiss. Then she simply walked away.
"W-what! How dare you!" She had started to think she was going to get some recognition but instead was insulted.
"You know what Weiss? Surprisingly I agree with you. The only reason she would have to hate you would be your company's labor laws, however, your Weiss here. Not an heiress, just Weiss. Everyone around you is your equal but one thing is for certain, you're not your family. Not until proven otherwise." Ember said with a small smile, the previous hostility having been forgotten.
Weiss stuttered a small bit and sort of blushed. A small bit, before she turned and started packing her things back onto the cart for the servant she had brought along to pull to the common area they would be in until the initiation tomorrow. Weiss turned to address Ember again only to find she was gone. "What? Where did she go?"
Ember entered the hall where the speech was to be given. She looked around and saw the room was basically full with even more people entering the room. One of the heads being covered in blonde hair. Now that no one she knew was around she could be herself. Benefits of being two years ahead.
She kept a close eye on those trickling in and noticed the white haired girl from before. Before she could make her way over there, Ozpin took the stage. "I'll...keep this brief. You have traveled here today in search of knowledge--to hone your craft and acquire new skills. And when you have finished, you plan to dedicate your life to the protection of the people. But I look amongst you, and all I see is wasted energy, in need of purpose – direction. You assume knowledge will free you of this, but your time at this school will prove that knowledge can only carry you so far. It is up to you to take the first step."
With that he left the stage and yet another blonde took the stage. "There are way too many blondes here." Ember thought to herself. After the sleeping quarters were established the orange tipped girl headed for them, her hood still pulled up. But before she could even get out of the room a hand was placed on her shoulder. "Hey, hold up a sec. I need to talk to you." She heard a voice behind her say.
Ember spun around and made eye contact with the woman who spun her around. Violet eyes looked back into hers, her own silver eyes looking back. Her colored contacts made her eyes look orange to everyone else. "What is it? I'm busy." She said callously, not wanting to speak to Yang even a little.
"Look. I think I might have known you a long time ago. What was your name again?" She asked, and if looks could kill, hers would have. Her violet eyes laser focused onto Ember's own orange ones.
Ember only sighed. "I think my mother told you earlier, and if she didn't then sorry. My name is Ember. Ember Fall." She said coldly, her own expression giving off vehement disinterest. "Is that all or..?"
"No. That's not all. Are you sure your names not Ruby?" She asked, still pressing the issue. Which caused Ember to sigh again. And look at Yang like she was stupid. "Okay okay. I'll stop bothering you for now. But, I'd like to make a bet with you."
Ember sighed. "No. Yang. I will not make a bet with you. Hell, I don't even want to talk to you." She said, glaring bored, uninterested daggers into her Ex-sisters head. "Now, like I said, I'll be leaving." With that Ember turned words into action and turned to leave.
She cursed internally as she did. "It's been ten years since she last saw me, how does she know who I am?" She sighed. "Well. This is going to be a fucking day isn't it?"
Ember entered the sleeping quarters and found that she was sleeping in between Weiss and Yang. Cool, one friend and one enemy. If she could count Weiss as a friend that is. She laid on her bed, hood still pulled low over her eyes since she had to remove the contacts to sleep. She was in PJs but because of the place she was in, and where she was sleeping she simply refused to remove the hood.
She heard someone flop down on her left and knew Yang was there. So she sighed and rolled over. And found herself making direct eye contact with Weiss. Silver locking with Icy blue ones. "Oh. Hello Weiss." "Shit. She saw the silvers." Hey uh, if you could, perhaps, not mention these." She points to her eyes. "I would really appreciate it." She points subtly at Yang so Weiss got the hint.
"I can do that, Ember. However I did have a question for you." She added, sitting up slightly. "Would you like… to be my friend I guess? I don't know how friendships start. Never had one before."
Ember smiled slightly. "Well. Friendships rarely start when you first meet someone. However, I like you a bit. So sure." Ember sits up and slings her legs over the side of the bed so she's sitting and facing Weiss, her hand extended. "So put 'er there."
Weiss reached out and shook Ember's hand. "Good. Having a friend is nice. Or so I've heard." She said with a genuine smile and a light dusting of pink on her cheeks, something Ember missed.
"I've had a few before so I can say. It is nice, but not the greatest thing in the world. It won't magically make you happy twentyfour-seven. However, it does give you someone to talk to, to vent to. And to help out when they need it. So yeah, it's nice." She smiled back. Something she had been finding herself doing less and less lately.
Weiss smiled again. "Friends then."
So yeah. I know most of the words in this chapter were AN but I promise, once I get to my planned story and the canon stuff is over (literally just the initiation) then we will be doing the fun stuff. Also, the middle name I'll be giving to Weiss is Albain. I couldn't, for the life of me, make a team name with just E/F W/S B/B or Y/L. So I added an A into Weiss's name so I could make FABL. If you have any other ideas, for the love of god, leave me a review. Please.
