Chapter 11
Lexa soon pulls up, her truck now facing a large black iron gate, just set back from the road.
It takes Lexa a moment to pull up her phone but soon she's typing in a number on the keypad and the iron gates begin to open. And Lexa slowly starts moving the truck through and up the long drive way.
Clarke looks out the window, her eyes taking in the large front lawn and then looks over towards Lexa. Her mouth hanging open.
"Where are we?" Clarke questions, stunned by the property she's being driven to. "Is this... Is this the house you're looking at?" She asks, shock evident in her voice. Lexa doesn't let her eyes off the drive ahead of her. She doesn't overly know how she feels right now. She's unsure if she should have invited Clarke along right now. She can feel the blondes eyes on her, but she just shrugs, preferring not to answer the question at this precise moment. She doesn't want Clarke to judge her, in any way.
"Lexa?" Clarkes tries again, as the truck is put in park.
"From what I could see online, its my dream home and I just at least wanted to look at it, see where I stand." Lexa finally responds to Clarkes earlier question. Clarkes just nods, deep in thought.
"It's beautiful. Very... you." She comments as she takes in the large front of the house.
The house is set back a little bit more from the shiny black tarmac of the drive. Smooth, shallow, slate stairs lead the way to a solid oak wood, front door. With large panel, floor to ceiling, windows adorning either side, surrounded by light stone cladding and black wood. The front of the house stands at two stories with peaked windows and an adjourning 2 story garage on the right. Further back, as a separate building, sits a much larger, 4 door garage.
Clarke is in awe at the beauty of this house. She slowly starts to climb the, three, long stairs to the front door, Lexa by her side. As she walks the steps, she takes in the walkway. Huge slate tiles make up each step, a thick strip of white pebbles with small palm trees situated at the centre of each step surround her, contrasting perfectly with the stone cladding of the house.
As they approach the front door, Clarke now noticing just how big it is, at least 10ft high, it slowly starts to open revealing a woman. She tall. Long red head pulled into the perfect bun. She wearing a black pencil skirt with matching blazer and a white shirt. She holds a iPad in one hand as her other pushed the front door further open.
"Ah, you must be Ms Woods." she greets as Lexa takes a step forward, offering a small hand shake and a smile. "Nice to meet you. I'm Addison, the realtor for this property. As I mentioned on the phone, there has been an offer placed this morning on the property but the seller wanted to allow you to have your tour and see if you wanted to make an offer as well. I hope that is okay. They wanted to make sure anyone with a standing appointment still got to see the house. Unfortunately I cannot divulge the current offer but it is above market. I do have another property you may be interested in if this isn't for you though." The lady says.
"I appreciate that. The moment I saw the property, I knew I had to at least look so I'm glad the current owner is allowing me a chance." Lexa replies. "This is Clarke, by the way" Lexa introduces the blonde who steps forward the shake the ladys hand as well.
"Nice to meet you Clarke." Addison replies. "Shall we ladies?" She queries turning into the house to start the tour.
The three woman make their way through the house from the large modern kitchen, spacious living room, home office, multiple family rooms, many bedrooms with adjourning en-suites and out into the back yard. Upon exiting the house into the back yard, the realtor excuses herself with a phone call, allowing the girls to explore the back garden themselves.
"So.." Lexa starts, "What do you think?"
"It's definitely a beautiful home." Clarke takes a moment to think. "It's in a good area. Not too far out from shops and the local schools."
"Yeah." Lexa agrees. "Did I mention theres a pool and fully equipped gym?" she directs to Clarke, pointing towards a large building around some privacy hedging. "Would be great for staying in shape for work." She laughs out. Clarke just starts at her. "What?" She says at Clarkes curious gaze.
"Lexa..?" Clarke begins.
"I know what you're going to ask but I don't what to talk about it.. please?" Lexa interrupts.
"Okay." Clarke resigns. Knowing its none of her business anyway, she's just letting her curiosity and nosey side win.
Before they can say anything else, Addison reappears, a smile on her face.
"So, ladies, what do you think?" She asks. Lexa smiling and nodding, already knowing she loves the place. The pictures didn't do it justice.
"I love it." She responds with enthusiasm.
"Excellent!" Addison beams. "would you like to put an offer in?" She questions.
"Yes please." Lexa replies.
"Okay, well here's where we do things a little differently. On my iPad here, we a have a custom built app. I already have your details set up with an account from when you booked your viewing and the current owner of the property is actually also logged at the moment, so if you have any additional questions, feel free to ask them. You can place your offer here, either using the buttons provided or by inserting a custom amount here." She explains. "It's completely private, between you and the owner. As I said before, I can't give you any details on the current offer because I'm not privy to that until an offer is accepted. Once you submit an offer, we just wait until its accepted or declined and then I will be in touch, either way." She finishes handing Lexa the iPad. "I'll leave you to discuss for a moment and will meet you out the front." She adds before going to make her leave.
"No need." Lexa says as she pushes a few buttons on the screen and hands the device back over. As the device lands in Addisons hands, it chimes, signifying the offer being accepted or declined. She looks at Lexa, surprised at what just happened before finally looking down at the screen.
