Chapter 12
"I'm sorry." Addison looks on, confused, completely ignoring the device in her hands. "Did you not want to discuss this with your partner?" She questions, gesturing towards Clarke. Lexa turns to Clarke, inwardly smiling that this woman thinks they are together. Clarke is blushing slightly which Lexa just finds cute.
"Oh, we're not together." Lexa replies, her eyes never wavering from Clarke. She wants to know her reaction and if she wasn't watching so intently, she may have missed the slight disappointment that flashed across her features at Lexa mentioning they weren't together.
"We just work together. I'm here for moral support essentially." Clarke laughs it off, hoping no one noticed her blushing or the slight sadness she felt at Lexa words.
"Oh.. Okay then." Addison continues, looking towards the two woman. She looks down at her iPad and see the notification. "Well Ms. Woods it appears, your offer of.. umm" she pauses, looking at Lexa.
"It's okay, you can say whatever you need to here." Lexa confirms, knowing the realtors silent question after finding out the pair are not together.
"Okay, well it looks like you offer of," Addison looks down again and then back to Lexa who just gives a small nod, indicating that she can say the figure she sees. Normally this woman has no qualms about business but she also knows how private some people can be with their finances and she doesn't want to overstep and boundaries. Looking back down, she continues "Of 8.5million has been accepted." She looks up again, glancing to Clarke who jaw just drops at the amount said. "Congratulations! This property is, essentially, yours. Obviously we will have to go over some paperwork to finalize everything. But it's yours Ms. Woods." Addison finishes and begins pressing buttons on the iPad in her hands.
Clarke turns to Lexa. Questions shooting across her face. She gently takes Lexa by the elbow and leads her away a few steps.
"Lexa.." She starts but not overly sure what she wants to say or ask. She's just in shock. 'J
How..?" Is what follows after a moment of silence. Lexa just shrugs. "Did you win the lottery or something?" Clarke continues. Lexa scratches the back of her head a little.
"Something like that." She lets out with a nervous laugh. "Looks Clarke, I know you have questions and are curious, and I will tell you anything you want to know on one condition. Okay?"
"Whats the condition?" Clarke queries.
"Well two conditions really.." Lexa starts off. "The first is, not here or now. It's just not the right time." She looks over her shoulder to her realtor who's taping away on her tablet.
"Okay.. and the other?" Clarke pushes, bringing Lexa back to the conversation.
"You don't tell anyone else." Lexa says pointedly.
"I wouldn't." Clarke say softly but reassuringly.
"Okay." Lexa nods, thinking for a moment. "How about lunch or maybe dinner tomorrow?" Clarke lets a small smile grace her lips.
"Dinner tomorrow sounds nice." She almost purrs.
"Okay, so I'll pick you up at 6?" Lexa questions. Looking at Clarke for any facial clues to her words. Clarke just smiles confirming the plan.
"Okaaay so all the paper work is set. All you have to do is sign here, here and here. Fill out this and this, sign here and the final page. And once payment is confirmed, which could be anywhere from 5 minutes to 5 weeks, depending on payments type, bank, you know.." Lexa nods, following along "Then the keys are yours and you can move in whenever." Addisons interrupts walking over, showing Lexa all she has to sign and do. Lexa smiles, thanking the woman and sets to completing the forms.
"So is there any set way the seller would like to be paid?" Lexa asks. "I can do transfer, cheque..?" she continues.
"I don't think they mind, but from previous experience, straight transfer is normally the fastest option." Addison informs. Lexa nods and continues her paperwork. As she finishes, she hands it back over for the realtor to give it a once over. "Okay, this.. this looks good. And before we press complete, you're sure?" She checks one last time, amazed how fast this sale has been. There was no I'd like to see something else or can we wait or anything. She saw. She wanted. She got. Simple and quick.
"Yes. I'm sure." Lexa responds with a nod of her head in confirmation.
"Okay." Addison nods back. "Well I will let you do the honours." She says handing the tablet back to Lexa. "All you got to do is press complete and it's done. We just then wait on the bank to confirm and once that happens, I'll hand the keys over. As you chose transfer, it should, should being the operative word there. Should be instant."
Lexa looks to Clarke, a small smile on her face. She gets one back and then looks down and presses the button. She hands the device back and once again, as it hits the realtors hands, it chimes. Addison looks down, smiles and then reaches into her handbag tucked under her arm.
"Okay! Ms. Woods!" She enthuses "These" She says, hand stretched out towards Lexa "Are the keys to your new home!" There are two sets there, and they are they only ones in existence. However if you are not happy with that, this" She hands over a business card "Is a fantastic locksmith who will do you a great deal if you drop my name." she winks. "And this one, is a moving company if you need it. All the paperwork will will be emailed to the email on file AND a hard copy will be couriered to you. Just let me know where you would like it sent." She adds. "Do you have any final questions?"
"Uhh.. no I don't think so." Lexa replies, almost beaming with happiness. She has after all, just purchased her dream house.
"Okay, well if you do, you have my number." Addison says and bids her goodbyes.
"Wow." Clarke breathes out as she watches the retreating figure of the woman. "That was quick."
"Yeah, I didn't really expect to be holding the keys right now." Lexa nervously laughs.
"So when are you going to move your stuff in? Or are you going to get movers to do it?" Clarke asks. Lexa looks to her sheepishly. "What?" Clarke asks noticing her expression.
"I.. I don't.. really have any stuff." Lexa embarrassingly says.
"What do you mean?" Clarke queries.
"Well, when I left my old life, I sort of left everything but my clothes, truck and bike. And what's in storage."
"What's in storage? Or do I not want to know?" Clarke jokes.
"You probably don't want to know but its..." She scratches the back of her head again. A nervous tick she seems to have Clarke thinks to herself. "It's just some family stuff and a couple of cars and bikes." Lexa lets out with a shrug.
"Well at least you have the garage room." Clarke jokes again, trying to lighten the tension caused. "So let me get this straight." Clarke looks to Lexa, making sure she has her attention and sees the playing smile plastered on her face. "All you own is vehicles?" to which she gets a nod. "Which means, this big ol' empty house, "Clarke peaks over her shoulder, smile plastered to her face, "Needs you to do some shopping?" She questions the brunette. Lexa eyes go wide at the realisation that she has to shop and face palms her forehead.
"I didn't even think about that. I HATE shopping!" Lexa almost whines. To which Clarke just laughs.
"Well..." She drawls out. "It's a good thing we're friends because I," She gestures to herself, "LOVE shopping! And would be more than willing to help you out, IF you would like?" She adds, hoping Lexa takes up her offer. Lexa beams at her.
"I would love that! Thank you! You are totally saving me!" She laughs back.
The two women make their way back towards the house, discussing what could be done today.
"So then would you want to move in?" Clarke asks, wondering if there was any time frame on Lexa wanting to be in the house.
"Well, honestly, I'm currently in a hotel and as nice as it is, I wouldn't mind getting out of there." Lexa honestly answers.
"Okay, so what do we need to get you out of there ASAP." Clarke thinks. "A bed? Towels, well the whole bathroom really." Clarke rambles to herself, mentally making a list. Her excitement for shopping taking over.
"Coffee!" Lexa pipes in.
"What?" Clarke looks over to her quizzically.
"I need coffee in the mornings. Can't function without the stuff." Lexa explains.
"Oh.. OH!" Clarke exclaims. "Kitchen stuff. You need a kitchen.: She thinks for a second. "So bedroom, bathroom and kitchen basics is what you need to get you in here ASAP?" Clarke questions but doesn't let Lexa answer before continuing. "I know a someone that can, if you pick a bed, get it delivered tomorrow. You'd have to go choose it today though?" Clarke finally pauses, letting Lexa answer if she'd like to do that.
"That sounds like a good plan." Lexa responds, a small bit of excitement coming through. Whether thats for the shopping, her new house or the prospect of spending the day with Clarke, she doesn't know.
"We can head to Target or Ikea or wherever?" Clarke queries before continuing "To grab the basic bathroom and kitchen items after."
"Sounds like a plan." Lexa says as the two of them make there way towards Lexas waiting truck and on to their day of shopping.
