Chapter 6

Vi sat herself down in the chair seated across from Caitlyn's desk. Caitlyn, after slamming her door shut, stood tall looking down at Vi. She never managed make it to her seat before the words could come racing out.

"Alina, really Vi" Caitlyn yelled

Vi looked at Caitlyn with great confusion now. But before Vi could even get in a word, Caitlyn began her tirade on Vi.

"How dare you look at me like you don't know what I'm talking about. Ya I see your black eye under all that makeup. I know exactly what happened last night".

Vi finally realizing what was happening, went to speak up, to tell Caitlyn it was all a misunderstanding, but before she could even open her mouth Caitlyn had more to say first.

"I trusted you Vi, I knew it was only a matter of time before you would let me down like this. You realize that's the commissioner's daughter that you took advantage of, not just another one of your bar whores.

Vi's cheeks began to get red, as she could feel anger growing deep inside her at this last comment.

"And let me guess, you had to start a fight to show off, to make yourself feel big and strong in front of her. Just because you live your life as an easy lay doesn't mean you shouldn't be a better example to those around you. You're nothing more than a disappointment. I should have listened when everyone told me I shouldn't put my trust in you. It was only a matter of time before you take me down with you".

Vi was now up on her feet making her way closer to Caitlyn, wanting to yell at her, hit her even, but all she could do was stare at her. Breathing heavily now, Vi's thoughts immediately went to all the stupid hi fives she got from fellow officers as they then thought she was bringing girl after girl back to her place. When that's not at all what was happening. Vi thought she should stand up for herself, tell Caitlyn what really happened after she would leave the bar with all those women. But no. She thought Caitlyn had more respect for her. She didn't think Caitlyn listened to the stale idle gossip that happened around the water cooler. She had nothing to say to the women standing in front of her. The women she once looked up to. The women she thought she once even loved.

"What do you have to say for yourself"? Caitlyn demanded, not backing down.

"you're right" Vi finally exclaimed calmly. "I'm just a no good piece of shit that you never should have hired. I started a fight because I wanted to. Then I took Alina home with me, and we Fucked all night, and she enjoyed every bit of it". Vi said these words knowing none of them were true but knowing it didn't matter anymore.

Caitlyn froze, she didn't know what was happening. She didn't expect this kind of confession out of Vi, she thought Vi would try and make excuses for her behavior, even apologize, but this, she didn't know how to respond to this.

Vi looked at Caitlyn one more time before grabbing the door handle. "maybe if you could find some pathetic prick to actually fuck you, then maybe you wouldn't be such a stuck up bitch all the time".

Vi threw the door open and stormed out without allowing Caitlyn to respond.

Caitlyn just stood there in her own door way not sure what to do next.

Just then Alina came from around the corner looking at Caitlyn with empathy. Knowing she needed to confess things to try and fix what she could.

Caitlyn glanced at Alina.

"Please Officer Kennington not right now".

"But you need to know what really happened last night".

Caitlyn didn't want to hear it though, she knew she needed to end this night, to get back home to allow her self to feel these words Vi just uttered to her. Caitlyn went to speak, to tell Alina this will have to wait another day.

But Alina stepped foreword, "please, it was all my fault, not Vi's. She only got in a fight to protect me".

Caitlyn looked at her with some skepticism, but she knew she needed to know what really happened. "please Alina, start from the beginning".

Alina started from the beginning to where they got to the bar, it all began with a beer as they cheered there favorite team on.

"Vi made sure to get us more drinks, but always reminding me to pace myself, that we have work early in the morning, and that she didn't want to upset you by being a bad example and coming in hungover. Well what Vi didn't know is that a young man was buying me shots, and handing them to me when Vi was distracted by the game. I became drunk very fast. The man buying me drinks brought me to his table while Vi was getting another round for the crew. Well it's a well known fact amongst the women that frequent these bars, that if the bar tender feels the women are being taken advantage of, and if Vi is in the bar that night that bar tender will give Vi a signal to check on the female. Vi will then walk over to the female and ask if she wants a water or lemonade. If the female says lemonade, Vi will step in, act like she brought the female to the bar, and let them know she is taking her girlfriend home for the night. Most times it goes smoothly. If the female says water, Vi knows the female feels safe and will continue to monitor the situation. On some occasions like last night, when Vi approached she asked me what drink I wanted. Before I could even answer the man I was with told Vi to get out of there business. He then grabbed me, began kissing me aggressively, shoving his tongue in my throat, while grabbing my ass. I was able to push him off, but then he grabbed me by the hair and told me I better put out after all he spent on me. That's when Vi laid him out flat. His buddy got in a sneaky sucker punch on Vi before she was able to knock him out too. The bar tender removed the men without wanting to get police involved, bad for business I suppose. Well I was pretty messed up at this point, so Vi picked me up and brought me back to her place to keep an eye on me. She took me to her bed, provided me with clean pajamas, gave me a water with hangover pills and then walked herself to sleep on her couch. I have friends who have told me she does this for all the girls she brings home from the bar, she provides them a safe place to sleep it off, only to drive them home in the mornings, even if it means she is late for work. I don't think Vi even drinks when she goes to the bars, I think she just goes to keep other women safe.

Caitlyn looked at Alina with complete shock. If this were true, then what had she just done to Vi. Vi who is a saint, she thought.

"that's not all". Alina said.

"A week ago I over heard my father on a call. He was discussing how his plan to fire Vi wasn't going as planned, she hadn't done anything serious enough to put me in any really danger. I immediately told Vi what my father was trying to due to her. I told her I was going to quit. I wasn't going to put her career in danger for me. But Vi stopped me. Told me she wouldn't allow my father to ruin both our careers. That she would fix this, make sure she wouldn't give my father anything he could use against them. And then she said besides we have something your father doesn't". Alina looked deeply at Caitlyn. "she said we have you".

Caitlyn looked more surprised than ever at this statement. "me" Caitlyn replied.

"yes, she said you would never let anything bad happen to us. That you always had her back no matter what".

Caitlyn wanted to cry, to scream, to run and find Vi. To beg for her forgiveness.

"And I probably shouldn't tell you this last part, but I feel you need to hear it".

Caitlyn took a couple deep breaths not sure how much more she could hear.

"That same night a made a pass at Vi. I kissed her. She pulled away immediately telling me what an amazing person I was, but that we should keep our relationship as partners and friends. Even apologized if she lead me on in any way. Then she told me that as beautiful and amazing as I was, that even if we weren't partners that it wouldn't work, because her heart belongs to someone else".

Alina smiled at Caitlyn while putting her hand on her shoulder. "thank you for allowing me to tell you what really happened, I better get heading home now".

Alina walked out of the office leaving Caitlyn spinning in her thoughts.
