Chapter 2

"Oh great you knocked her out by your presence." One voice said above her before she groaned and heard whoever was over her let out a relieved breath.

"Why the hell did you bring a Jones to my house?"

"For the last time the damn City Girl got herself stuck out in the middle of storm and I couldn't leave her!" She knew that was MM.

"I have a name." She said slowly opening her eyes being met by three different shades of green and blue looking back at her.

"And I said I didn't care." MM said before being hit over the head from his grand-father.

"Are you okay?" The older man asked looking concerned while the other two just rolled their eyes and walked away.

"Yeah, thank you." She replied sitting up realizing she wasn't on the floor anymore nor in the living room, she was in a bed, a comfortable and insanely large bed.

"Good and excuse those two, they were dropped on their heads as children. What's your name?"

"Mercedes, Mercedes Jones."

"Well nice to meet you Mercedes Jones, I'm James and those two are Dwight and Sam. We're gonna make sure you're safe until the storm ends okay?" James said smiling at her and she smiled back before nodding.

"She can't have my bed." Sam, formerly known as MM said narrowing those beautiful eyes at her yet again.

"She can and you're gonna suck it up or you'll be in the barn with Luka." James said shooting him a stern look.

"She's not staying in my house at all." Dwight grumbled and she shot up even though it cause her pain to do so.

"Well excuse me for getting lost! I don't have to stay here!" Mercedes said getting out of the bed and muttering to herself about being treated by trash for no apparent reason. They all watched the short woman stormed out of the room huffing and Sam couldn't help but smirk at her fieriness that is until his grandpa shot him a hard telling look.

"I'm not going after her! If she wants to run out in the middle of one of the worst storms we've had so far then she can!" Sam protested and they all heard the front door open before it slammed shut again making Sam groan when James just kept looking at him.

"Ugh!" Sam said before running out of the room and down the stairs. He opened the door and was hit by hard wind and rain, he looked around to see if he could see the woman but he didn't so he walked out further until he saw her small figure walking towards the road. He ran over to catch up with her and when she looked back he knew she was gonna make a run for it so he quickened his pace before scooping her up and throwing her over his shoulder.

"Put me down! I won't stay where I'm not welcomed!" She shouted punching him on the back before biting his shoulder and making him jerk then dropped her.

"What is wrong with you? Who bites people?"

"Who drops people they clearly they don't want around, you could've just left me! I'm sorry for getting stuck on your road, I'm just trying to meet a side of my family I never knew!" She shouted back feeling tears welling up in her eyes but she refused to cry even though she knew it wouldn't matter because one he was an insufferable brute and two it was raining so no one would be able to tell but at least the rain was slacking slightly.

"Just go back in the house." Sam said a little softer because he couldn't stand to see a woman cry even if it was a city girl hell bent on causing harm to herself.

"You nor I'm assuming your great-grandfather want me there and I'm already uncomfortable. Plus the rain is letting up so I can just-"

"Jesus woman, I'm asking you to go back into the house!" Sam said getting annoyed noticing she was still sitting on the ground. Sam shook his head because he was certain she was going to get sick. Damn City Girl.

"Fine! That wasn't really asking either!" Mercedes replied getting up and stomping back to the house right as heavy duty pick up pulled up and a tall burly man got out when it stopped.

"You get away from my grand-baby Evans." The man said loud and surly.

"Oh great you can leave." Sam quipped walking passed her and she looked at the man immediately seeing the resemblance to her father.

"Mercy-Ann?"

"Mercedes but yes." She said with a small smile.

"Come on child, let me get you to your granny's house." The man said with a return smile that dropped when Sam, Dwight and James all reappeared.

"She was fine here Neil, I wasn't going to let anything happen to her." James said shooting Mercedes a sorry look.

"I bet." The man named Neil said helping Mercedes into his truck right as Sam brought over her bags placing them in the back of the truck before shooting Mercedes a look that didn't go unnoticed by Neil.

"Stay away from my grand-baby." Neil warned again before getting into the truck still staring Sam down as he put it in reverse.

"How the hell did you end up at the Evans farm young lady?" Neil asked after they hit the road. She wasn't even sure how he knew she was there but she was definitely wondering why they were all so tense.

"My car, who are you?" She asked realizing she'd gotten into another stranger's car but at least she knew they were related.

"I'm your grandpa, your aunt Lisa asked me to come check on your whereabouts and she told me what kind of car you would be driving and when I saw it on Stevens Road I figured there's only one place you could've ended up."

"Oh… I didn't know I had a grandpa." She admitted with a small smile.

"You have a whole family waiting to finally meet you, last time we saw you you were a baby."

"I was here?"

"For a moment after your daddy died yes then you were gone again. We begged your moma to let you come down for summers but his death was too hard on her but we tried, please don't think we didn't want you."

"She told me it was difficult to get over him passing and that was pretty much it, I think now that I'm older she was more open to talking about him… I only know what she told me though."

"Did she tell you how he passed?" Neil asked hoping like hell she hadn't.

"No, just that it was a really bad accident."

"Well that's partially right…"

"What happened?" Mercedes asked noticing him stiffen and let out a shaky breath.

"Let's get you home and dried off, that's a conversation you need to have with your grandma, I'm not really the one you need to have this talk with…" He responded a they pulled up to a very large home that looked more up to date than the Evans home did.

"Come on you got some people ready to see you." Neil said smiling at her before getting out and walking over to help her out.
