Hi said the girl as she started making way towards Julio, who was looking at her intently. In his mind, he was thinking that there goes the one person he liked in this entire school. She will definitely demand something from him whether it is homework, assignment or notes. "Oh! a biology assignment is due tomorrow; she must want me to do it for her as it is quite a difficult one and is worth 15% of the final grade." He has already made the assignment for three of his friends, he is quite tired of doing it and wanted to say no but couldn't. The reason for his reluctance to say no is a mystery even to him.
"Hi, Julio, right? Nice to meet you." Said the girl with a smile. A warmth of comfort was radiating for her which Julio only felt from his best friends. Her smile was contagious and without even knowing he was also smiling. The smile which he forgot to do, an emotion that has went extinct since the day he came here. There was something different about this girl; different from the other friends, like his best friends.
"Erm, Hi. Yes." Julio said nervously. She examined his response and body language.
"Don't be nervous. I know its my first time talking to you, I hope I don't look that intimidating." She laughed. Julio was surprised that she is that observant.
*The girl put her hand on the head* "I didn't even introduce myself. Hi again, my name is Trinity and I have been your classmate since you joined this school." She said jokingly. "I wanted to talk to you from the day one but you are always so reserved." She wasn't joking anymore.
*Silence* Julio didn't know what to say or how to react. Nobody has ever talked to him about anything else expect their personal gains. He was about to reply when a boy walks in, he was the usual suspect of making Julio do his work. He comes to Julio's desk and slams his hand on it. This startles both Julio on Trinity.
"So, FRIEND, where is my biology assignment and notes? It's been three days and you haven't done them." Demanded the boy. Julio nervously smiled and Trinity was shocked to hear the boy.
"I have been busy." Almost whispered Julio whose heart was clearly pounding in fear. The boy glared at him and again slapped his hand on the desk, this time even more hard.
"What word's meaning you don't understand in 'I need my work in one day'?" he said his tone higher and spiteful. "I needed to have my girlfriend's work, that is why I set the one-day deadline." Julio was nervous and scared now.
"Complete my work now or else I will make sure nobody ever talks to you again." Said the boy with a smirk on his face. Smirk signified that the boy knew Julio's major weakness and was pressuring him.
Julio was about to say yes but he was interrupted by Trinity. He had forgotten that she was still there. He looked up at her, her face was full of anger. She looked like a ferocious lioness about to attack her prey. He was intimidated by her because up to this point, she seemed very cool and chill.
"HE WILL DO NO SUCH THING." She said as she put her hand in front of Julio as protecting him. Again, Julio felt the warmth from her, a soothing sensation which calmed him in an instant. He almost had tears in his eyes because all of this was too much from him.
The boy was as shocked as Julio, no one has ever stood up for him like this ever before. The boy curled his hands into fists. He was raging in fury as well.
"And who are you? Are you his friend? Or do you want him to do your work before me?" he said.
"No, I want you to backoff and do your work yourself." She said, the anger still in her.
"And If I don't what are you going to do, huh?" he said mockingly.
"Well, I will tell my dad, Mr. Johnson." She said this time she had the smirk on her face and she said the name with a little pause to build tension. She had him cornered this time. The boy's smile was wiped from his face in an instant when he heard the name.
"The director is YOUR DAD?" mumbled Julio. She nodded to his question and boy's face flushed with fear and he left both of them alone.
Julio has never felt this kind of relief in along time, he placed his hand on the chest and he could feel his heart calming down. Finally, the day has come, he was not stressed today; he was happy.
"I have been observing you since the start of grade 9th since you came to this school." Said the girl ignoring what just had happened earlier. Julio was focused on her, he was happy and genuinely smiling because of her. He could see his best friends in her.
"You never talk to anyone and why act like everyone is your friend? Don't you see they are just using you for their own personal gain." And just then the teacher walks in the classroom, it was already time for class neither Julio nor Trinity realized that it was already time for the class. "We will definitely continue our conversation later." Said Trinity as she made her way back to her desk. Julio nodded in agreement.
He was actually eager to talk to Trinity and was really glad that someone took stand for him. Today was not like any other day and it was really a good day; he could feel it. A feeling he got after a really long time.
