It was a typical sunny afternoon in Magnolia, and Fairy Tail's guild hall was alive with its usual clamour. Cana was lounging on a table with her fifth barrel of beer, Gray and Elfman were engaged in their traditional shirtless wrestling match, and Erza was focused on polishing her sword with the kind of intensity that made everyone keep their distance. Everything was as it should be—until it wasn't.
Natsu Dragneel burst through the guild doors, his face set in a scowl, followed by a very visibly frustrated Lucy Heartfilia. The two of them were locked in a heated argument, their voices rising above the usual din of the guild.
"You're such an idiot, Natsu!" Lucy shouted, her face red with fury.
The entire guild went silent. Conversations ceased, mugs of beer were suspended mid-air, and even Gray and Elfman halted their wrestling match to gawk at the drama unfolding in the centre of the hall.
Natsu spun around, his fiery eyes locking onto Lucy's with equal intensity. "I'm an idiot? You're the one who forgot the map on that last mission! We ended up wandering for three days because of you!"
Lucy's eyes widened in disbelief. "Oh, I forgot the map? And who decided it was a great idea to challenge a horde of giant scorpions instead of just going around them?!"
"They were in the way!" Natsu retorted, his voice rising. Flames flickered from his mouth.
"Yeah, well, we could have avoided them if you'd just followed my plan!" Lucy argued, her frustration palpable.
"I listen to your plans!" Natsu yelled back. "But they're always so overcomplicated! Sometimes you need to just fight!"
Lucy threw her hands up in exasperation. "Overcomplicated? Like that time you tried to take down a dragon with a spoon?"
Natsu's face darkened. "That spoon was enchanted!"
"Enchanted my foot!" Lucy shot back. "And what about that time you tried to make 'fire stew' and almost burned down the guild?"
"That was an accident!" Natsu insisted, his face turning red. "The recipe didn't say anything about 'not using fire'!"
Lucy threw her arms wide. "You always manage to turn everything into a disaster! We were supposed to be on a simple mission to collect herbs, not fight an army of giant spiders because you set their nest on fire!"
"Those spiders were asking for it!" Natsu argued, his voice growing louder. "You should have seen the way they were looking at us!"
"They were scared!" Lucy snapped. "You practically invaded their home!"
The guild members exchanged worried glances. Wendy was biting her nails, looking between Natsu and Lucy with concern. "Should we do something?"
"No way," Happy whispered from his perch on the bar. "This is getting good."
Erza, watching with a mixture of bemusement and mild concern, raised an eyebrow. "Should we intervene? This is getting out of hand."
"Let them work it out," Makarov said from his seat, looking more entertained than worried. "They always do."
The argument continued to escalate, with Lucy jabbing a finger toward Natsu's chest. "You know what your problem is? You never think about the consequences! It's always 'fight first, think later' with you!"
"And you're always so focused on the details that you miss the big picture!" Natsu shot back. "Sometimes you need to act on instinct!"
"That's why you keep getting us into trouble!" Lucy yelled. "If you'd just listen for once, maybe we wouldn't be in these situations!"
Natsu's face darkened further. "And if you'd stop being so over-cautious, maybe we'd actually get things done!"
Lucy's eyes widened, and she took a deep breath. "I'm tired of this! I'm tired of always having to clean up your messes!"
Natsu's jaw tightened. "Well, I'm tired of you acting like you're the only one who knows how to do anything right!"
At this point, the tension was so thick that it felt like it could be sliced with one of Erza's swords. The guild was utterly silent, their breaths held as the argument reached its peak.
Just as it seemed like the argument might escalate further, something unexpected happened. Lucy's shoulders started to shake, and her fierce expression crumbled into uncontrollable laughter. The shift was so abrupt that it left Natsu momentarily stunned.
"What's so funny?" Natsu asked, his anger giving way to confusion.
Lucy tried to catch her breath, wiping tears of laughter from her eyes. "I… I just realized how ridiculous we sound right now."
Natsu blinked and then a grin slowly spread across his face. "Yeah, we do sound pretty stupid, don't we?"
The tension in the guild hall evaporated like mist in the sun. The guild members, who had been on edge, relaxed and started to chuckle as they watched Natsu and Lucy laughing together.
Erza, who had been polishing her sword with a serious expression, rolled her eyes and smacked her forehead. "Honestly, you two are so obvious."
Gray, having returned to his seat, groaned and facepalmed. "It's like watching a soap opera. How did it take us this long to realize?"
Cana shook her head, raising her mug. "To Natsu and Lucy! The most dramatic duo in Fairy Tail!"
The guild erupted in cheers, their laughter mixing with the sound of clinking mugs. Natsu and Lucy, still laughing, walked over to the bar, where they took seats next to each other.
Wendy sighed with relief. "I'm glad that's over."
Happy fluttered over, grinning widely. "I knew you two wouldn't actually fight!"
Natsu, still laughing, threw an arm around Lucy's shoulders. "We're a pretty good team, aren't we?"
Lucy grinned up at him. "Yeah, we are. Just try to listen to me a little more, okay?"
"I'll try," Natsu said with a chuckle. "No promises, though."
As the guild returned to its usual chaos, Natsu and Lucy continued to joke and laugh together. The day had started with fiery tempers and a dramatic argument, but it ended the way it always did at Fairy Tail—with laughter, camaraderie, and a collective realization that their bond was unbreakable. And the guild members, having witnessed yet another chapter in the story of Natsu and Lucy, couldn't help but shake their heads at how obvious their affection for each other truly was.
