Short chapter, kind of a filler!

Elijah had officially moved in with Lyra. Technically he had been living with them for a while but now all of his belongings were with him. He and Lyra had decided after Teddy had called him daddy, it would be best for them all to be in one house. Ellie was opening up around them more, she had been really shy at first. Teddy was loving being the 'big brother' to her. Life seemed to be falling in place for them and Lyra was happy with Elijah at her side.

One night after they had put the children to bed and Elijah had made sure Lyra was asleep, he headed downstairs. He needed to speak with the portraits. Elijah was old fashioned in certain aspects and what he wanted to do, this was one of those things.

Sirius had been telling the others a story about something that had happened before he died, Lily and Dora were not impressed. The women noticed Elijahs presence before the others.

"Elijah, is everything alright" Lily asked curious. Elijah would speak to them but he did his best not to be left alone with Sirius or James. The two men liked to tease him over Lyra, luckily Elijah had a good sense of humor. Lily could tell this was serious though.

Hearing Lily, the rest of the painted faces turned to look at him with questioning looks. He almost looked nervous now.

Clearing his throat, Elijah looked between them all and then looked to James and Lily. "I know it's not ofte done in this time, but when I was growing up, a man would ask the parents permission to be allowed to court their daughter". Noticing he had their full attention, Elijah quickly continued, "I would like to ask your permission to ask Lyra to marry me. I knnow we've gone about things backwards but I would really like to make her my wife"

Lily and Dora squealed at his request. Sirius and Remus looked to James. They knew this was hard for him, for all of them but he was her father. Lyra was their little Fawn but they knew Elijah was a good man.

James looked to the others before answering, "I won't lie, I had my reservations when Lyra told us about you. You have proven to us how much you care for Fawn. Everything we've seen, it has showed me that there is no one better for her to marry than you"

Elijah finally relaxed, he had their approval. People may think him crazy for asking but he knew how much it would mean to Lyra. That's all that mattered. Of course that didn't mean they wouldn't still tease him, he was going to be family now.

Remus and Dora spoke to him next, "Elijah, we both want you to know how grateful we are for how you treat Teddy. Neither of us ever expected to not be there to raise him, or that his grandma wouldn't be either. Lyra taking responsibility for him, being so young herself, wasn't what we planned when we named her godmother". Remus cleared his throat and continued, "If you're willing, we would both be honored for you to blood adopt him. If you're willing."

Elijah was stunned. They were giving him, a vampire, permission to alter their sons DNA so he could be his dad. He nodded, trying to get his voice to work. "I would be honored. I love Teddy and Lyra so much. I'm already starting to love Ellie too. I promise to you all, I will take care of them and make sure they have a happy life"

Everyone was happy with how the conversation had gone. Elijah was just happy that they trusted him so much.

Lily couldn't hold herself back anymore and blurted, "Let us see the ring!" everyone broke out into laughter. Elija pulled the box out and showed them.

Lyra was chatting with her mom's portrait. Elijah had taken the kids outside to play with Luna's twins. They were talking about the blood adoption for Ellie. Remus and Dora told her they wanted Elijah to blood adopt Teddy.

Lyra was surprised by their comment. She hadn't wanted to overstep by asking, especially since she hadn't asked them before she had.

Noticing her surprise, Remus told her "Elijah's not going anywhere Fawn. Teddy needs a dad who is there, who can support him. He has you as a mom, let Elijah fill that empty spot".

Lyra nodded, wiping her tears "Thank you" she told them both. She needed to contact the goblins.

Elijah had convinced Kol and Luna to watch the children for a couple hours, he wanted to take Lyra out. When he had realized that the two of them had not actually gone out alone, he was ashamed. Tonight, he was going to make it up to her.

Elijah was waiting in the living room with Kol and the children. Luna was helping Lyra get ready. He was surprised at how well his brother had taken to the twins Luna was going to adopt. Seems he wasn't the only one who was thinking ahead.

Kol was whispering so they kids wouldn't hear, "I think I'm going to ask her to marry me. I know its quick, but I love her" Elijah was shocked. Kol was not one who he thought would ever settle down, he guessed people could say the same about himself.

Elijah smiled at him, pulling Kol so they were facing away from anyone seeing and showed him the ring. He had to hurry and hush him, "I'm asking her at dinner. I asked her parents' permission" he told Kol, placing the box back in his pocket.

Kol grinned at his big brother, "Elijah, you of all people deserve happiness. She's going to say yes". The two spoke a bit more when they heard the women heading down the stairs.

Elijah couldn't' take his eyes off of her. Lyra was wearing an emerald, green dress that hugged her curves and dipped down her back. She was gorgeous. Walking up to her, he took her hand and looked her over as she gave him a spin.

"How do I look? Too much?" Lyra asked.

Shaking his head, Elijah told her "You look absolutely stunning. I almost don't want to let you out of the house." Lyra laughed at him.

They told the Kol and Luna goodbye, hugging their children and headed out. Lyra didn't notice the smiles and thumbs up the portraits gave Elijah as they were leaving.

Elijah drove them a town over to a very classy restaurant. Lyra had never been to a place like this so she let Elijah take care of ordering for them. The food was amazing, cooked to perfection. They spoke of all things over dinner, and dessert.

Lyra took a sip of her wine and brought up the conversation she had with Remus and Dora. "They both agree that when we do the blood adoption for Ellie, that you should adopt Teddy"

Elijah watched her closely, "Is that what you want. I don't want to go against your wishes".

Lyra grabbed his hand that was on the table, "I love you, Elijah. I don't want to raise Teddy or Ellie without you. I want you to be their dad by blood".

Elijah smiled at her. He knew he needed to do it now. Letting go of her hand, standing next to the table he watched her face. Lyra wasn't sure what was happening, she was a little worried. When Elijah dropped to one knee before her, her heart skipped a beat, and her hands flew to her mouth. She watched as if in slow motion as he smiled up at her.

"Lyra Lily Potter Black, I love you. I think I've loved you since you called me an idiot for not listening to you. I love your son, our son and our daughter. I couldn't imagine my life without any of you. Will you make me the happiest man ever and marry me" Elijah asked this all while listening to her heartbeat and trying to keep his own under control.

Lyra couldn't get her voice to work, she could only nod her head. She launched herself at Elijah, wrapping her arms around his neck and finally got a "Yes" out between her happy tears.

Elijah wrapped an arm around her waist, still holding the ring with the other. He could hear the people around them clapping so he leaned in to kiss her. "Do you want to see the ring" he asked her with a laugh.

Lyra nodded, moving back a little so he could bring his hand up. Elijah held out the most beautiful ring.

"I wanted it to match your eyes" He told her, slipping the ring on her finger.

Lyra admired her beautiful ring and leaned up to kiss Elijah, "I love you so much" she whispered.

Arriving home, Lyra was so excited to tell her parents and Luna. Elijah chuckled as he parked the car, he could see her bouncing in the seat. Quickly flashing to her door, Elijah opened it and lead her inside.

Teddy noticed them and ran to them. Ellie following close behind. "Mommy, Daddy, your back" he called out, wrapping Lyras legs in a hug before moving to Elijah. Ellie softly followed Teddy's lead, hugging Lyra and then Elijah.

It had taken time, but Ellie was finally opening up with them. She still hadn't spoke, at least to them, but she was freer with her hugs. Lyra still thought she talked to Teddy when no one could hear. They were both happy that she felt safe enough now to hug them and she felt comfortable with them.

Luna and Kol walked over when the kids moved back to the twins. Kol had told Luna about the ring so she was bouncing, trying to hold back her excitement. "How was your date" Kol asked.

Elijah smiled as Lyra held her hand out, "Elijah proposed" Lyra squealed, Luna followed. Kol clapped his brother on the back.

"Let us see the ring!" Sirius yelled from behind.

Lyra turned, surprised "How did" she asked, looking to them all.

"Elijah spoke to us before he asked" James told her with a smile.

Lyra looked to Elijah, "Thank you" she said, choked up.

They spent the rest of the evening talking with Kol and Luna and playing with the kids.
