Chapter 1

"Aidan, Connor!" Logan yelled out to his younger brothers. "Come on guys, it's time to make your video."

Aidan had just had his butt handed to him by his twin brother in a video game they were playing. A second game had started and Aidan was well on his way towards retribution. He had the upper hand, and Conner knew he would be defeated. Just then, they heard their older brother beckoning them.

"Coming!" Connor yelled and shut off the Play Station.

"What the hell!" Aidan complained. "You were about to be schooled into next week and you knew it too. We could've finished the game!"

Connor runs to their bedroom door and turns back. "Sorry, bro. Work comes before pleasure and Logan is waiting for us." He then runs down the stairs to be greeted by Logan.

Logan wonders where the other twin is. "Aidan! Aidan!"

Aidan stomps down the stairs, "I'm coming. I'm coming. Keep your shirt on!" He is a bit annoyed at both his brothers.

"Okay guys," Logan instructs his brothers. "In this video, you two are going to pretend to fight to see which is the tougher twin. Connor, you're on the right and Aidan, you are on the left. Connor, you start with a right jab. Aidan, you are going to jerk your head back like you were hit. Then you punch with your left hand and it's Connor's turn to jerk his head back. You two will go back and forth four times and then on the fifth, you both jab and knock each other out and it's a tie."

Connor speaks up. "How will I know which way to jerk my head since we aren't actually hitting each other?"

"That's easy." Aidan says. "How about if I just punch you, then there won't be any doubt?"

"Very funny!" Logan says as he messes up Aidan's hair.

Aidan hates to have his hair messed with and slaps Logan's arm out of the way and says, "Don't mess up my hair, Logan! How would you like it if I did it to you?" He then uses both his hands and roughly messes up Logan's hair. Logan is a lot bigger and stronger than his brothers and has no problem taking Aidan into a headlock. Aidan tries to get out of it, but fails.

"Let me go, You jerk!" Aidan says trying to act tough while knowing he is defeated.

"You need to settle down, Aidan! I don't know what's gotten into you today, but it stops now!" Logan then releases Aidan and Aidan pulls back and tries to fix his hair shooting daggers at his older brother.

Connor raises his eyebrows wondering what just happened. They had always been close to their older brother Logan and have always gotten along with him. Logan has always been their hero and they idolized him. It is true that Connor always runs up to hug Logan, and is the child that says, "I love you" the most to his dad, but he has always been like that. But Aidan is his twin, his brother and his best friend. Unlike other kids, he gets to be with his best friend all the time. Every night is a sleep over. Everyday they can play games, talk, wrestle, and even do their homework together. They are never left alone to figure things out on their own. If needs be, Logan is there to impart his wisdom. Most of the time, he gives it without being asked.

"Let's get this video done guys. It has to be done today." Logan instructs. "Now to make it easy, Aidan you are going to throw four punches with your left hand and the final punch is with your right. Connor, you are going to punch twice with your right, once with your left, one more with your right, then your final punch is with your right. Now get this, you are going to both punch the last one at the same time and then you both fall down making it a draw. It'll be classic. Now let's practice it."

Logan lines up the boys facing each other. "Now look mean and tough at your opponent. That's perfect Aidan, and Connor, look meaner. Okay let's go through this slow. You start Connor. Right...left... right... left... left... left... right... left... now both right and fall down."

"Okay, guys, not bad. Remember to jerk your heads back like you got hit. Let's do this a little faster with the music. Start with your poses like I showed you before to the music."

The sound starts and they begin. Logan stops them half way through. "Cut! Listen guys, we want to make it look more real. You two are too far away. It looks really fake when you are throwing punches and your punch isn't even close to making contact. Now try it again about a foot closer."

"Action!" Logan bellows. The camera is on and the music starts. The twins go through the routine and both fall down at the same time calling it a draw.

"Cut! That was really good guys, I'm proud of you. But we can make it better. Really jerk your heads back as if you really got punched. Really emphasize it. Trust me, it won't look silly. Now get ready to do it again." Aidan rolls his eyes but realizes that they'll be there forever if they don't do what their perfectionist brother says.

The music rolls and they start again. Connor starts with a punch and Aidan really jerks his head back. Aidan then throws his punch and Connor jerks his head back. Logan is ecstatic. This is exactly like he wanted it to look like. Connor retaliates with another punch and Aidan does the same. Connor then punches and feels an intense pain in his fist. He realizes that he had just made contact with his twin's face. His heart sank. "How could this happen?" he thought. He would never punch his brother on purpose in a million years.

POW! Aidan just got punched in the face by his brother. He stumbles down to his knees holding his chin out of enormous pain. If you thought he was mad earlier at his twin, now he was furious. Connor immediately bent down to aid his brother.

"Oh my gosh, Aidan! I am so sorry. I don't know how this happened. Are you hurt? Can I help? I am so sorry, Aidan."

Logan also ran over to see how Aidan was. He felt really bad, because of the skit he wanted his brothers to do, caused them both great pain. Why did he have to be a perfectionist he questioned himself. The last take would have been good enough. Aidan was trying to stand up and Connor was giving him support. Aidan then balled up his fist and punched Connor right in the gut then he stumbled to the kitchen to get a package of frozen corn to apply to his face.

The air was knocked out of Connor and he fell down and curled up in the fetal position. Logan went right to Connor to see what he could do. Connor was gasping for air and couldn't speak. He was is shock that his best friend, his brother, his twin would intentionally punch him especially in such a painful spot. He felt horrible what he did to his brother, but it was an accident. What Aidan did was on purpose and out of spite. He didn't know if his gut or his heart hurt more. There was little Logan could do for him.

"Dammit, Aidan!" Logan yelled as he stood up to confront the other twin. "What the hell was that for?! Why did you do that?! What's wrong with you?!"

He wanted to slap Aidan upside of his head, but he knew more violence wasn't the answer.

"What's the matter with me?!" Aidan said as he slams the bag of corn on the counter. "What's the matter with you?! He hit me first and I was just defending myself. How would you like it if I punched you in the face?!" Aidan balled up his fist and threatened his older brother.

"What is going on in here?!" Ron, the dad, questioned loudly as he entered the room. Barbara was close behind. He was shocked to see that Aidan had his fist balled up towards Logan. He also saw that Aidan had a red mark and bruise forming on his face. Had Logan punched his younger brother? Logan had always been so loving and super close to the twins. He would never hurt one of them.

"Ohhh!" Moaned Connor from the other room. Logan noticed that Connor was trying to get to his feet so he rushed over to him with Barbara on his heals.

"Mom, help me get Connor over to the couch." Logan asked.

Barbara's eyes got wide a saucers when she saw Connor. She had never seen him in so much pain. Connor was holding his stomach with one arm and now that he could breathe again, a couple sobs came out.

"Oh my gosh, Connor!" Barbara said as she was is total shock.

Logan lifted and gently laid his brother on the couch and tried to hug or comfort him. He kissed him on the head and told him to hang in there and that Mom was there. Logan stood up and Barbara knelt down by her son.

"My poor baby!" She said as she mimicked what Logan had just done with a kiss and hug. "Are you hurt bad? What happened, Sweetie? Who did this to you?" Connor just grabbed his mom's hand and held it to his face.

Aidan had put the frozen corn back on his face and answered his dad's question. "I'll tell you what is going on here! Connor punched me right here in the face and it hurt like hell! So I punched him back. I was just defending myself and now Logan is all up in my face like he wants to hit me too! I'll defend myself against Logan too. He thinks that just because he is older that he can push me around. He is always taking Connor's side and I'm getting sick of it!"

Ron is shocked in hearing this. This doesn't sound right, but that is what it looks like happened. Ron too had a brother and knew that there were always two sides to every story. He also knew that his brother was always trying to get him into trouble too. Logan hears what Aidan just said and rushes over to his dad.

"Oh no!" Logan says. "That's not what happened Dad."

"What?! I just imagined getting hit in the face by Connor?! Are you saying that didn't happen?!" Aidan says gritting his teeth. Ron is now looking at Logan for his reply.

In a lower voice, Logan put his hand on his dad's shoulder. "Let me explain what really happened, Dad. We were making a video of the skit we had talked about. The twins would pretend to go 'Mortal Combat' on each other to see who was the tougher twin. We practiced it and somehow Connor punched Aidan by accident. It was an accident! What Aidan did was on purpose!"

"He did it on purpose, I know it!" Aidan retorts looking at Logan. "If by a very small chance he didn't mean it, it still hurts just as bad if it was an accident or on purpose." He continues. "How about if I punch you and say, 'oops… that was just an accident?' I think Connor has been wanting to get me for a long time and used this as an excuse to hit me. I'm not stupid enough to fall for that one. He'll think twice before ever doing that to me again!"

Back at the couch, tears were running down Connor's face. "Mom? Why did Aidan hit me so hard? It was just an accident when I hit him and I told him that I was so very sorry. Hitting him hurt more than getting punched in the stomach that I hurt him. I hope he can forgive me."

Connor sits up and Barbara sits next to him and pulls him into her arms. "It hurts so much, Mom." Connor says. "I have never felt like this before. My hand hurts, my heart hurts and my stomach hurts."

Barbara wants to find out what had happened but her youngest son needed her right then and she could see that Ron was grilling Aidan.

"Wait a minute." Logan says. "I have it on video. Dad, let's watch it and see what really happened."

Ron shook his head in agreement. "You do? Go get it." Aidan had forgotten that it was taped. That's okay because he was sure he was in the right.

Logan made sure that he had the right video for they had made several takes that day. All three of them crowded around the camera to see the scene.

"Here it starts, Dad." Logan says. "Connor starts- Right, left, right, left, left…Ah!" That's when they could see that Aidan jerked his head into Connor's fist. He was supposed to jerk backwards.

"Oh my gosh, Aidan! You messed up!" Logan said. "Connor didn't do anything wrong and this happened because you did it wrong. This was your fault and you took it out on Connor."

"Wait a minute." Aidan says. "I want to see that again, because that's not how I remember it."

Logan rewinds it and Aidan makes sure he has a close up view this time. He sees the video and is shocked that it happened the way it did. Ron now had all the proof he needed to pass judgment.
