Trophy Hunt
"Hey there, Lieutenant!" Cuzzi said with a wide smile and boisterous laugh the second Catherine opened the door. "You haven't aged a day since the last time I saw you. You're still as pretty as ever." He kissed her cheek and when he saw Steve enter the room with the kids in tow he added in exaggerated whisper, "I still say you could have done better than McGarrett."
"You won't get any argument from me," Steve said with a chuckle.
"My daddy is the best daddy, Uncle Al," Angie said as he knelt down in front of her and wrapped her in a hug.
"Though he may get one from Angie," Catherine said with a smile as she hugged Chelsea Cuzzi. "Welcome to Hawaii."
"Hey, buddy." Al said to DJ. "I got that video of your baseball game you sent last week. Your swing looks amazing. I can tell you've been working on it."
"Thanks!" DJ beamed. "Me and Dad and Cody go to the batting cages twice a week."
"I can tell," Al said. "And you, Miss Angie. I saw the video of you flipping at the gym. You are gonna have your father's hair completely gray in no time."
"That's what Uncle Danny says." Angie giggled. "But Mommy says that's ok because she loves his gray hairs."
"We're having a party on Friday and we're gonna watch the videos of you and Uncle John and Uncle Hoss and Mr. Radicz and Dad doing all your tasks," DJ said excitedly. "Grandma let me help her get some of the videos ready but I'm not allowed to tell anybody what I saw."
"I didn't help because I'm not good at keeping secrets," Angie said matter-of-factly. "But I got to go to Party City with Grace so I know what the decorations look like."
"Sounds like you all have quite a shindig planned." Cuzzi's eyes sparkled with mischief. "That's a good thing because I want a big audience when I collect my trophy."
"Keep dreamin'," Steve said.
"I love my husband with all my heart but I really hope he doesn't win this," Chelsea told Catherine. "Because if he does I just know he's gonna want to put that hideous trophy somewhere that everyone who comes to the house will be able to see."
"Look who I found at the airport," John said as he made his way onto the deck where Steve, Catherine, Al, Chelsea and the kids were relaxing, followed by Jack Radicz and his wife. "Hoss and Victoria's flight got delayed so they won't be landing for another two hours. Carrie volunteered to stay and wait for them."
Steve jumped up. "It's been a while, Jack. It's great to see you."
"Thanks, Steve. You too," Jack said as they shook hands. "Do you remember my wife, Anna? She was still on active duty during the last couple of SEAL reunions so she couldn't make it."
"Of course I do." Steve kissed her cheek. "I remember one time we got a two week leave but my flight got canceled so Anna offered me your couch to sleep on. She made kimchi for dinner and it's still the best I've ever had."
Anna smiled. "You're very sweet."
"Good to see you again," Catherine said. "I think the last time was that winter we were TAD in South Korea."
Anna laughed. "I get cold just thinking about it."
After saying hello to Al and Chelsea, and being introduced to the DJ and Angie, Jack took a good look around. "This is a beautiful place," he said. "Al told us what a great setup you have here but this is even better than he described."
Steve blushed slightly. "Thanks."
"It's a shame that on your first time here I'm gonna have to kick your…" Al looked at the kids. "Butt. Because I'm winning that trophy."
"Uncle Al said he asked you to play Taskmaster because you used to fall down a lot so he thought he could beat you," Angie reported.
Jack Radicz barked a laugh. "That sounds exactly like something Uncle Al would say. But did he tell you the reason I used to fall down a lot was because he used to sneak up behind me and either tie my shoelaces together or tie one of them to the chair leg?"
Angie shook her head. "He didn't tell us that." She gave her uncle a slightly disapproving look. "That's not a nice thing to do."
"I was practicing my stealth skills," Al said, but Angie still looked skeptical. "How about if I say I'm sorry?" he offered.
"That's a good idea," DJ said. "You should always apologize when you make a mistake."
"That's right, Dad. You should," a voice said from the doorway.
"Annie!" Both Al and Chelsea crossed the deck to greet their daughter. "We thought you weren't coming until tomorrow."
"I managed to get on an earlier flight to Pearl and Captain Rollins offered to pick me up," she said.
"Good to see you again, Captain. Ma'am." Al greeted Joseph and Elizabeth. "Thanks for looking after our baby girl."
Joseph smiled. "Any time."
DJ and Angie greeted Annie with excited hugs, talking a mile a minute about all the things they had planned for the Taskmaster party.
"I'm really glad you're both so eager to help," Annie said as she knelt in front of them. "Because I have a lot to do and I was hoping your two would agree to be my very important assistants. Would you like that?"
"Yes!" they chorused in unison.
"Figure out which one of you is gonna get to hand me the trophy," Al teased.
Chelsea rubbed his arm. "If you win, that hideous thing is not going in our living room."
"I'm so sorry you had to wait around for hours," Hoss said as he and his wife Victoria greeted Carrie at the gate upon arrival. "There was some kind of issue with the first plane so we had to switch and you know what a headache that is."
"It's no problem at all," Carrie said. "I've been enjoying the hell out of sitting here people watching."
"One of my favorite hobbies," Victoria said.
"I'll bet you guys are starved," Carrie said. "Let's grab your bags. Catherine just texted me a few minutes ago to say the burgers were almost ready to go on the grill."
"I really hope she didn't go to any trouble," Hoss said. "She kinda has a crowd descending this weekend."
"Steve and Cath are in their element when there's a big party to be thrown," Carrie said. "I offered to help with the cooking but for some reason I always get assigned ice, drinks, and paper products."
Hoss snorted. "I think we all know the reason, Stagler. We've eaten your cooking before."
Carrie shrugged. "My culinary reputation precedes me."
Hoss's phone signaled an incoming message. He barked a laugh when he read it. "Cuzzi said to hurry up and get there because he wants me to see the trophy he's going to win."
"John texted me that he won't let anybody touch it because he doesn't want fingerprints on HIS trophy," Carrie chuckled.
Hoss grinned as they headed for the baggage carousel. "This is gonna be a fun week."
