The Among Us Story
Part III: Deep Space
Reid Jamison
Reid Jamison returned home after a long day at AOSC. His wonderful wife was waiting for him at the door, waiting for the news. It was the day the AOSC chose their astronauts for the Polus Mission.
Reid opened the door and was immediately hugged by his wife, Makena, "Sooooo, how's my big man," Makena gave him a kiss, "Did you get the job?"
Reid cleared his throat, "Baby, you are looking at one of the first ten people who will ever leave our solar system!"
"Aaahahhahaaaaa!" Makena jumped in excitement, "Oh my god! Oh my god! Oh my god! I knew you could do it honey!" Reid was bombarded by numerous embraces and kisses. "Come on honey, I made you a special victory dinner. And it was also a comforting dinner if you didn't get the job." They both laughed.
As the two ate a delicious dinner of cajun gumbo, they continued talking about the mission.
"Do you think you'll see any intelligent aliens?" Makena asked.
"God, I hope not," Reid answered.
"Why not, wouldn't it be cool to know we aren't the only form of intelligent life out there?" Makena asked.
"It would, but I've seen plenty of intelligent people here doing the nastiest shit," Reid answered, "Like a Florida man shoving an alligator through a Burger King drive thru. You think I want to deal with that in space?" They both laughed.
Suddenly, Makena got serious, "I know we've been joking about all this, but please be careful out there honey. I don't know what I'd do if I lost you."
"Don't worry babe, I'll be fine," Reid reassured her, "We've got plenty of measures to keep us safe. We even have measures to keep us safe from weird space diseases."
"I know you do, it's just," Makena stammered, "There's just so many things that can go wrong. It's space for christ sakes. What I'm trying to say is just, please come back home to me."
Reid got up and hugged Makena, "I promise Makena, I'll do whatever it takes for me to return home to you." They shared one more kiss and then continued eating.
MedBay
Everyone did their best to stabilize Black, but he passed out from the pain. A black goo oozed out from his wound. White is inconsolable. He wept next to Black and even prayed for his friend's recovery.
Could this all be an act? Red thought. Stop! The imposter is gone. I can't keep thinking like this. His mind raced back to his wife and his promise. But I still need to be cautious. Four of us are dead. Four of us will never see their families again. I can't let me or anyone else die.
It took a while, but Black was in stable condition. They did their best to clean out the black goo, but it kept reappearing. As a precaution, they gave Black antibiotics in case it was poisonous. However, there wasn't much they could do but hope for Black to recover.
Cyan enjoyed watching them struggle to save Black. The idea of killing Black after everything they did to save him filled Cyan with sadistic joy. However, Black wasn't going to be his first target. He had been surprised to see Yellow being restrained and sent out the airlock. He never would've imagined these puny creatures would be able to fight them in their true form. He had to tread carefully. There couldn't be any more stupid mistakes like the one Yellow made. The first target would have to be the most dangerous crewmate.
"Listen up everyone," Red announced, "We're not out of the woods yet. The ship still needs a lot of maintenance done. We have a lot of tasks to get done in order to make it back to Earth." Red stood tall. "I know we've lost good men, and we will hold a funeral service for them, but we need to stabilize The Skeld to ensure we all make it back. We'll get into groups of two. Cyan and Green will be a group, White, you're with me, and Blue will stay here with Black. Are we all clear?"
"Yes Captain," Everyone said.
Red and White went to Navigation to ensure they were still on the correct path. Green and Cyan were sent to fix the oxygen. Blue stayed in Medbay with Black.
Tasks
At Navigation, Red and White struggled to course correct The Skeld. Purple had been the expert on traversing the ship.
"I'm sorry about Black," said Red.
"Thank you, I'm sure he'll pull through," White replied, "I can't believe he just threw himself into danger like that. He's more of a man than I am." White laughed. Red laughed too.
"I'm just curious about something, why did you hesitate to electrocute Yellow?" Red asked.
White stopped working and looked at Red, not sure how to answer, "I…I don't really know. I guess the shock of it all just got to me. I mean, Yellow was our friend, I guess I just really couldn't believe that some monster was impersonating him."
"Yeah, he was," Red replied.
"What do you think happened to him?" White asked, "Wouldn't Cyan have known what happened?"
"What?" Red replied.
"I mean, back during the emergency meeting, Cyan said they were never separated during their rotation. How could Yellow have been killed without him noticing, it just seems odd."
Red stared at White, "Are you trying to accuse Cyan of something?"
"What, no," White defended himself, "It just must have been one sneaky bastard to get past Cyan."
Red scoffed, "Yeah, sneaky."
Suddenly, a green light flashed on the navigation screen, signaling that The Skeld was back on course to Earth.
"Can you hold the goddamn flashlight still?" Green yelled at Cyan, "I can't see a damn thing with all these wires in the way."
Cyan was constantly looking back towards the doorway in the O2 room, causing his flashlight to move around.
"Goddamnit Cyan, what is wrong with you?" Green snapped, "Don't you want to get this done so we don't have to wear these stupid helmets anymore?"
"Yeah sure, whatever," Cyan answered while looking back at the doors.
"What are you even looking at? Yellow's gone; he can't hurt us anymore." said Green.
Green went back to work, but he was perplexed by Cyan. What's going on with him? He thought. Usually, he wants to get everything done as quickly as possible. He's always on top of his tasks. And why does he keep looking at the door like the boogeyman's about to appear? Green looked back to Cyan and saw him still looking at the doors. What is he watching for?
"Hey!" Green snapped his fingers, "For the last goddamn time, focus."
Cyan shined the light back on the wiring. He's being so weird. Green thought. He's never been this distracted when doing tasks. Maybe what happened to Yellow shook him up that bad. I wonder how Yellow was killed. Green glanced back over at Cyan who was taking a quick look at the door. Now that I think of it, weren't Cyan and Yellow together during our last few hours? Yeah, they were and he said at the emergency meeting that they were never separated. He also hesitated to electrocute Yellow when he was in the net. Wait, is he? Green looked back as the light faded away, Cyan was looking back toward the door.
"Hey, are you an alien?" Green asked.
Cyan slowly moved his head back towards Green without saying anything. "What?" Green asked, "If you're not, just say so."
A tentacle shot out from Cyan and came straight towards Green. He hit the tentacle out of the way and it impaled into the wiring. Green jumped back, but Cyan didn't seem to move. He stood there with his tentacle in the wires. Suddenly, the door to O2 slammed shut.
Green laughed, "All right then," The sound of Green's knuckles cracking echoed in O2. "Let's dance you little alien."
Red and White had been on their way out of Navigation. White was outside in the hallway and Red was still barely in the room when the doors slammed shut.
"What the hell?" Red yelled.
"Captain, are you okay?" White asked from the other side of the door.
"I'm alright, what the hell happened to the doors?" Red asked.
"I don't know, I'll go find out sir," White answered.
"Hold on, we have to stick together," Red tried to yell to White, but he could already hear his receding footsteps.
Blue was surprised when the Medbay doors shut. He began to panic, but quickly calmed down. I'm sure it's nothing. He thought. Green probably just hit the wrong wire.
Blue looked at Black who was still unconscious. Everything's fine.
Green was thrown into the wall by Cyan. The tentacle had receded back in and now they were fist fighting. Green got up and put his hands up for the next attack. Cyan lunged but was met with an uppercut and then a kick to the side of the leg. There was a crack as the knee broke and Cyan fell to the ground. This was Green's chance. He kicked Cyan to the ground and began to choke him. He squeezed with all his strength and Cyan fought to get Green off. I'll kill you son of bitch! He thought. This is for all my friends!
Green began to have flashbacks. He remembered having arm wrestling competitions with Orange and Purple. He used to love listening to Pink drone on about all the inner workings of electrical, even though he didn't understand most of it. Yellow always knew how to make Green laugh, even at the hardest of times. He even remembered Cyan, who he used to be. Cyan was always a bit uptight, but he'd taught him how to play chess and their games would go on for hours. And these monsters took that away.
"I'LL KILL YOU!" Green screamed.
Suddenly, Cyan began to laugh. It was an inhumane laugh. It was as if Satan himself was laughing at Green. Cyan grabbed on Green's wrists and with the tightening of his grip, they snapped.
Green screamed in pain as he was kicked up into the ceiling. He felt one of his ribs break when he hit the ceiling and when he fell back to the floor. The pain in his now broken wrists was excruciating. Cyan continued to laugh. That piece of shit. He thought. He was just pretending to get his ass beat. Green slowly stood up as Cyan loomed over him. No matter, I'll make the ass whooping real this time.
Cyan and Green were staring at each other, their faces a few inches apart. Through the visor, Green could see Cyan smirking. Without warning, Green smashed his head into Cyan's visor in an attempt to break it. It failed. Cyan bobbed his head back, the neck of the suit stretched as if it was made of flesh. Cyan's head came forward like a whip and struck Green in the face.
There was a crack as Green's visor broke open. His face was exposed and he realized that this was it. Shit. He thought. My visor is gone, I'll suffocate in only two minutes. Even if I did win, there's nothing that could save me. Without his visor, he could see inside Cyan's mask more clearly. He was smirking, but not only that, he could see the razor sharp teeth of whatever creature was masking as his friend. Anger took over Green and he began to see red. You know what Cyan, I'm glad you took my visor, because now I have nothing left to lose!
Green threw a punch with his right hand directly at Cyan's face. Please do it, please do it. Just as Green had hoped, Cyan's visor contorted itself into a hideous mouth. The same razor sharp teeth opened up and bit down on his hand. Green screamed as his hand was bitten off, but this was exactly what he was hoping for. He looked down at his hand and saw the bone sticking out like a spike. Perfect. He thought. He now punched with his left hand and as predicted, it was also bitten off.
However, as his left hand was bitten, he brought the bone up and stabbed right into the creature's throat. It let out a wail, releasing his left hand. Now both of his hands had jagged bones at the end. There's not much time. He thought. I've got to do this now!
He stabbed the creatures multiple times. He stabbed in any place that contained a vital organ. Blood flew everywhere onto Green and Cyan. The creature tried to attack, but Green dodged all of its attacks. Keep stabbing, keep stabbing, KEEP STABBING!
Suddenly, tentacles shot out and wrapped around Green's arm. In retaliation, he bit down on one of the tentacles. The creature screamed and threw him into the wall again. Green's vision was blurry. He knew he was about to suffocate, but he still hadn't killed the creature. He still hadn't killed the second imposter. That's when he heard the strange sounds.
THUD THUD THUD!
What is that? Green thought. Is it going to finish me off?
THUD THUD THUD!
Suddenly, a voice called from the other side of the door, "Hey! What's going on in there, I heard the screaming!" Green couldn't believe it, it was White. He was on the other side of the door. Relief swelled over Green. White's hear, maybe he can help. Maybe he can- Green stopped when he saw Cyan eyeing the door.
No. He thought. NO! "White! You have to ru-" Green suddenly couldn't speak anymore. He felt his throat tightening up. He looked down, and to his horror, he realized that Cyan had ripped out some of the wires and was strangling him with it.
There was a spark from the wiring and suddenly, the door to O2 lifted up. The imposter had broken something, and the door was now open. Green saw White's look of terror as he witnessed Green being strangled. Green held up his hand and pointed out the door. Run. Green thought. Please, you have to run. White took off and ran. Thank you. The last thing Green heard was his neck being snapped.
Hell on The Skeld
White sprinted to Navigation. It wasn't far, but the heavy space suit was already making it difficult to breathe. When he arrived at Navigation, he was horrified to see the doors were still closed. Whatever the creature had ripped out, it didn't open all the doors.
A wail screeched through the halls from O2. White was only a hallway away from it. He was about to bang on the doors but he stopped himself. He realized if he pounded on the door and got Red's attention, it might hear him and try to attack. Instead, he ran for Shields.
As White ran, he could hear it rapidly approaching him. Luckily, the corners kept him out of sight for the time being. When he arrived at Shields, he looked back and could see the shadow of the imposter closing in. The sounds of four sets of footsteps echoed through the halls like a sympathy of death heading right for him. He only had a few seconds.
Shields had a giant platform raised up above most of the machinery. On his right and left were two sets of three and four upside down tubes that powered the shields. Usually, they were glowing to indicate they were on, but after the meteor shower, they were damaged and shut down.
Another screech invaded White's eardrum. It was now or never. He jumped to his left off the platform and squeezed behind one of the tubes. It was dark and filthy, but he prayed it would suffice.
It came into Shields with a roar to indicate its presents. White couldn't see it from behind the tube, nor did he want to see his former friend in such a grotesque nature. The imposter only stopped for a moment, likely looking around. When it didn't spot it, it quickly ran out of Shields and into Storage. A wave of relief swept over White. He relaxed against the tube and took a moment to rest.
WHERE IS HE! WHERE IS HE! Cyan thought. FIND HIM! KILL HIM! MUST KILL!
He was in Storage. Metallic crates stacked high in the air. In frustration, he knocked over a stack of them.
Not here. NOT HERE!
Cyan continued knocking over crates. The noise echoed throughout the ship. He realized how much noise he was making and stopped.
That White! He thought. He'll tell. HE'LL TELL! THEY'LL ATTACK! THEY'LL TRY TO KILL ME LIKE YELLOW!
He knocked over one more crate. Afterwards, he composed himself and returned back to a normal form. The blood was shaken off and he once again looked as good as new.
I'll just have to kill as many as I can first. Luckily, I know where two are.
Blue checked Black's bandages again. They'd patched him up the best they could without taking off his space suit. He worried the wound might get infected without being able to patch the skin itself. He prayed that the others would hurry.
Thud. Thud. Thud.
The knock came not long after the Medbay doors had suddenly slid back open. It had only been about a minute since then. However, he was cautious after hearing a ton of noise coming from what he thought was Storage. He turned and saw Cyan standing in the doorway.
"How is he holding up?" Cyan asked.
"He's doing okay for now," Blue answered, "Did y'all get the oxygen working again?"
"We're still working on it," Cyan responded, "Do you think he'll die?"
Blue was surprised by the question, "No, I hope not at least. But, the sooner we get oxygen working, the easier we can work on him. Speaking of which, where's Green? I heard him yelling at you. I hope you didn't snap at him like you did to me a few months back." Blue laughed.
"No, but I did snap his neck," Cyan said in a monotone voice.
A slight chuckle escaped Blue's lips, "You…you what?"
Cyan turned to Blue, "I snapped his neck."
Blue stared at Cyan, unsure what to say. "You…I…um."
"Shh, you don't have to say anything," Cyan said as he turned his gaze to Black, "I have to make this quick, time isn't really on my side. I won't be able to indulge much like I could with Pink."
Blue took a couple steps back towards the door.
"If you take one more step and I promise your death will be excruciatingly painful." Cyan snapped. Blue stopped in his tracks. "That's better. Now, I couldn't show you me snapping Green's neck, but luckily that little White fellow saw it. It feels good having an audience witnessing my craft." Cyan was now standing above Black. "I am sad you couldn't witness Green's neck snapping in two, but at least you can see me slice his throat open."
"P-p-p-p-please don't," Blue whimpered.
Without another word, Cyan turned his arm into a razor sharp blade and sliced Black's throat open. Blood sprayed all over Black, on the floor, and on Cyan. Blue turned to run for it but a searing pain in his back stopped him. It felt like a fiery knife had pierced into his back. However, the pain wasn't just in his back, he also felt it in the front. He looked down and a sharp tongue protruded through his lung. Suddenly, the tongue moved to the right and split open the right side of his body.
Blue fell to the floor and he desperately tried to stop the blood that was flowing out of him like a waterfall. Pieces of his lungs spilled out onto his hands. The site made him throw up. It splashed onto the visor and hit him in his left eye. He folded in on himself, still trying to hold in his guts.
A pair of Cyan boots appeared to his side and he turned to face the imposter. A mouth had replaced the front of Cyan. From his torso to his upper chest opened to rows of sharp teeth and the tongue that had stabbed him in the back. Blue looked up to the face, but there was nothing but the reflection showing Blue's pathetic state.
"What did I tell you?" Cyan asked. Those words were the last thing Blue could process before he blacked out and fell to his side.
Only two left. Cyan thought as he returned to normal form, but he left the blood. He left the Medbay and walked to the left, toward the reactor.
White had made his way into the cafeteria. He wanted to check on his friend Black. Every step he took was carefully placed so as to not alert the second imposter. As he walked into the Cafeteria, he could see the electro batons and net guns still on the table. One of them was still loaded. He was about to pick it up when he looked down the hall to the Medbay and saw a trickle of blood flowing out of the door.
Black. He thought.
He bolted for the Medbay and what he saw brought him to his knees. Blue and Black were dead. Blood caked the floors and walls. Without thinking, he stumbled over to Black and wept.
Accusations
Red had been bashing on the doors for so long, his arm began to go numb. That's when the doors opened and he was free. He walked down the corridor towards O2. When he arrived, he was met with another grizzly site of Green's body.
No, no, no, NO! He thought. Red let out a scream and he punched the wall. I knew there was another imposter! Fuck! Fuck! FUCK!
"Captain," A somber voice called from behind him. Red turned around and saw Cyan covered in blood.
Red was about to run when Cyan burst into tears, "Captain, oh thank god you're here." Cyan embraced Red like a child clinging to their mother. "It was horrible, the most horrible thing I've ever witnessed sir! I can't believe I made it out, I'm still shaking sir!" Cyan held his arm up which was violently trembling.
"What happened, who did this?" Red asked while holding onto Cyan.
"It was White," Cyan admitted, "It happened so fast, we were working on the oxygen and he suddenly walked in and attacked us. Green tried to defend us, but it killed him Captain, it killed him!" The tears flowed like a raging river as he sobbed into Red's arm.
"That son of bitch!" Red yelled, "Where is he now?"
"I'm not sure Captain, I ran as fast as I could," Cyan answered, "But, if he's not here, then he might be Medbay with Blue and Black."
"Oh Jesus, come on!" Red yelled.
They ran with haste past Weapons and into the Cafeteria. On the table, Red could see a net gun and an electro baton. As he ran past, he grabbed them both. As Red continued to run to Medbay, he saw blood starting to stream out.
Oh god, please don't be too late, please. Red prayed.
Red almost threw up at the sight of the Medbay. Blue lay dead on the floor with parts of his lungs hanging out and Black with on the table with his throat slit open. But in front of Black, White lay at his side, crying.
"You fucking piece of shit!" Red yelled. White stood up quickly as if startled. Red pointed the net gun at White, but he didn't make a move. Red had expected him to charge, but he simply stood there confused.
Why isn't this monster charging? Red thought. I can't believe it was White all along. I should've trusted my gut from the beginning and thrown him in the air lock with Yellow.
As Red was about to shoot, White finally spotted Cyan, "Captain! Shoot him, he's the imposter! I saw him strangle Green!" He pointed his finger at Cyan. "Hurry, he killed him, he killed them!" White then pointed to Blue and Black.
Red scoffed. And now he's trying to pin this on Cyan? Red thought.
"I assure you Captain, he's the one who killed these men," Cyan elaborated, "Isn't it odd how you were separated just before the attack?"
"That's true, awfully convenient the doors shut right between us White," Red agreed, "Now tell me, what did you do with the real White and the real Yellow? What did you do with Callum J. Lamenson and Arthur Mongomery?"
Callum teared up even more, "Captain, surely you don't really think I did this? Black was my best friend, Dimitri was my best friend. I'd never hit him sir, never!"
"Sure, you'll say whatever you can to get out of this," mocked Cyan.
"Captain, it's not me, it's him!" Callum pointed at Cyan, "It's him, he killed Green, he killed Philip, I saw him! I saw him wrap a wire around his neck for christ's sake! It's him!"
Why doesn't this thing just attack? Red thought. Is it really trying to convince me? Red tightened his grip around the trigger.
"Please Captain! It wasn't me!" Callum begged.
"Do it Captain, remember we walked on him red handed," Cyan argued, "Please, end this nightmare for all of us."
A tear ran down Red's face, "I'm sorry Callum, I'm sorry I couldn't save you, but I have to get back home to my wife."
Callum was immediately thrown to the ground by the net gun. Red and Cyan immediately ran to drag it away before he could morph. Callum was dragged over the body of Blue and blood stained his space suit.
"NO CAPTAIN PLEASE!" Callum begged, "IT WASN'T ME, PLEASE SIR!"
Callum's pleas went unanswered as they rushed to the air lock. Cyan ran ahead and opened it.
"I DON'T WANNA DIE, CAPTAIN!" Callum continued to beg, but to no avail.
Red and Cyan quickly threw Callum into the air lock and shut the door. The button to open the air lock lit up. Callum had managed to untangle himself in the net and threw off his helmet. Callum's young face conveyed a look of pure terror. His eyes were red and had streaks of tears running down his cheeks and snot hung from his nose. He ran over to the window and began to pound on it.
"CAPTAIN! I DIDN'T DO IT! I SWEAR!" Callum screamed at the top of his lungs, "REID, PLEASE!" Callum stopped pounding on the window and fell to his knees, crying.
Reid stopped and contemplated what was happening. Why didn't he try to morph like Yellow did? He had plenty of time to change, that's why we hurried to get him to the air lock, but he never morphed. Oh shit.
Reid had to stop this, "Hey, maybe we shou-"
Cyan pushed the button.
The large metallic doors opened up and Callum was sent flying out into deep space. His face turned from terror to anguish and betrayal. Reid and Callum never lost eye contact as he was sent further and further into space. The only thing that broke the eye contact was the metallic doors sealing shut again.
Reid stood in place for a minute and slowly sat down at one of the tables. He sat there, not daring to look up at Cyan who he knew was standing right in front of him. However, he knew he couldn't avoid it. He would have to face the true imposter.
Reid looked up at Cyan, "What are you?"
Cyan
"So, you finally figured it out," Cyan mocked, "I was wondering if his pathetic display would sway you, but you were too stupid to figure it out."
Tears rolled down Reid's face, "Why, why are you doing this to us? What did we do to you?"
"Hey, nothing about this was personal," Cyan put a hand on his throat and he spoke in a new voice, one that sounded like a demon straight out of Hell, "I hate having to speak this human language, it's so grating."
"Fuck you," said Reid.
Cyan scoffed, "Was that supposed to insult me?" Reid put his hands on his head, "Look, if it makes you feel any better, this is the most fun I've ever had in my life. It's been so long since I've taken the form of an intelligent species. Or at least, intelligent enough to make it an enjoyable experience."
Reid looked back up, "Was all this just some twisted game to you?"
"Yup, it pretty much was," Cyan answered, "I mean, I wasn't expecting you to kill my partner, that was some hardcore shit right there. I've haven't seen another one of my kind die in centuries, so good job on that." Cyan gave a thumbs up. "I'm doing this correctly, right?"
"Oh god," Reid began to cry.
"Oh don't give that shit," said Cyan, "You humans are so emotional, it's honestly disgusting. Besides, now that there's nobody to see your body or watch your death, it's not that fun to me, so I'll give you a quicker death than the others." Cyan shook his head. "Man, I would've loved to have seen that kid's face when I killed that green guy. Maybe taking out the oxygen was dumb idea after all."
Reid stopped crying and looked up at Cyan, "I'm going to kill you."
Cyan scoffed, "Yeah, sure you are. That's what the green guy sa-" The electro baton rendered the imposter's body useless as the muscles were contacted. Reid grabbed a steak knife off the table and stabbed Cyan in the neck.
The knife was still embedded into Cyan when Reid ran away down the corridor to Reactor. I can't let this thing get to Earth. Reid thought. I hope this idea works, even if it means- no focus, you have a job to do.
Reid could hear the monster scream from behind him. He turned back and saw it morph into the same monster that Yellow had morphed into. It was just as hideous as the first time. Reid sprinted with all his strength. However, he heard the creature quickly gain on him.
As he ran into the Upper Engine, he could hear it right behind him. He turned around and was hit by a tentacle. He went flying through the air and his back hit the Upper Engine. The cracking of his ribs sent streaks of pain throughout his body as he fell to the floor. His vision came up just in time to see a tongue pierce his right arm.
"You little maggot!" Cyan screamed, "You dare use that damned device on me! You don't get that quick death anymore. I'm going to bleed you for as long as I possibly can!" Reid was slowly being pulled toward Cyan. A giant mouth began to open up as his arm was dragged closer.
However, he still had the baton in his hands. This is gonna suck. He thought as he stabbed the baton into the mouth of the creature. The shock was like tiny little knives stabbing Reid. Luckily, it distracted Cyan long enough to rip his arm from the tongue. He stood up and ran.
It's just down the hallway. He thought. Cyan was already back up and chasing him. Reid had just turned the corner when another tentacle whipped him in the back. Reid tripped for a moment, but quickly regained his balance.
Luckily, Cyan wasn't so elegant in his entrance. It appeared to slip as it rounded the corner. It was just enough time. The giant, glowing reactor was right in front of him. This was it. He opened a latch on the reactor when the tongue pierced through his back, into his stomach, and out his belly.
No, I'm so close. Reid thought. Suddenly, the tongue began to lift him up into the air. The latch was still opened and he still had the electro baton.
It's now or never. Reid thought. I have to do this.
Suddenly, a flashback of Reid's wife came back to him, of Makena, "Please come back home to me."
I'm sorry honey, but I don't think I can keep my promise.
Reid activated the baton and threw it into the reactor.
Immediately, the reactor began to sputter and The Skeld began to shake. Cyan threw Reid to the side not understanding what was happening. The reactor began to glow a bright red as it became unstable.
I love you Mekena.
BOOM!
The reactor exploded and a chain reaction started as the entire ship began to explode. In just a minute, The Skeld was gone. Humanity's greatest ship and the first humans to ever leave their solar system were gone. All that remained was charred debris floating aimlessly in deep space.
The End
