A love letter

Puss in boots' pov

I haven't been so stressed in a long time. Dulcinea kept staring at me and I avoided making eye contact with her. I really don't know what to say to her. It's been a long time since we saw each other. I guess you know how the awkwardness between you and a person you didn't talk to in a long time feels. That's how I felt in that moment. Kitty tapped my shoulder. I thought it was Dulcinea and I gasped a little too loud. No one was paying attention though. Phew! I turned to Kitty and whispered:

''Is something wrong?''

''I don't like her at all.'' she said, looking at Dulcinea.

Dulcinea was talking to Fiona and she didn't realise Kitty and I were looking intensely at her. Fiona noticed something was going on and asked:

''Why aren't you eating? You don't like the food?''

GREAT! Now she thinks we don't like the food. Perrito ate everything on his plate quickly. In the meantime, I noticed Kitty hasn't eaten as well. Why was she stressed? I forgot to answer as I was paying attention to my thoughts only.

''No- I mean yes! We just zooned out…that's all.'' replied Kitty.

I nodded and started eating. Dulcinea was bothered by something, I didn't know what in that moment. I didn't get to answer Kitty earlier. Why doesn't she like Dulcinea? I am just embarrassed to talk to her, but I can't say I don't like her, AS A FRIEND THOUGH! After the meal was over, Fiona told us we could sleep in the castle for a few nights. Kitty didn't really want to, but I convinced her. Perrito agreed as soon as the idea was mentioned. Fiona showed us the room we could sleep in. It was crowded in the castle, so only one room was free. It had a small bed in a corner, and a large bed on the other side of the room. Kitty nor I couldn't fit in the tiny bed, but Perrito could, so Kitty and I were forced to sleep in the same bed. It is going to be so weird!

''I have an extra bed in my room. Puss can come.'' said Dulcinea.

I don't want to sleep in the same room as Dulcinea at all!

''Kitty should go! I think you would get along well!'' I suggested.

I feel bad for making Kitty stay with someone she doesn't like, but I had to. That way I can prove to her Dulcinea is a really nice person.

''I agree. You should spend some time together.'' said Fiona.

''Uhh… sure, I guess…'' said Dulcinea.

Kitty's pov

I do not want to spend a second with that white cat, ''Dulcinea''. She still likes Puss, I can smell it! I can't let her take my crush away. The advantage in this is if I spend time with her, I can find out things about her.

''Ok… I will go.''

Dulcinea and I left. She didn't seem pleased about the situation either. I told Puss from the beginning I didn't want to come here, but I guess I am going to get through this for him. After all, this is the village he grew up in. When we entered Dulcinea's room, my mouth dropped. She had a fantastic room, decorated with flowers and bows. I really liked her style, but not her.

''You have a gorgeous room!'' I said, trying to chat with her.

''Thank you.''

Dulcinea wasn't really talkative, and I could understand why. I changed in my pyjamas and jumped in the comfy bed.

''Is it true you were in a relationship with Puss before?''

''Yes, why are you asking?" asked Dulcinea, suspicious.

I have to come up with an excuse!

''I was just curious. How did you meet?''

''Well, he came to my village, San Lorenzo, by mistake. He discovered a portal to it. Puss remained in the village to protect it.''

''What could possibly happen in a village?''

''Oh, trust me! All types of monsters tried to attack it! Then, Puss had to abandon the city, or else the world would have ended. It's a long story, but this is the short version of it.''

''I am truly shocked about what I found out. Puss never told me about this.''

I was disappointed Puss didn't tell be about these important events in his life.

''We shared our first kiss when he was about to leave. Everyone's memory was erased after he left. No one could remember anything about him anymore. Except me… I suffered a lot…''

''I am sorry for what happened.''

I was a bit sorry, but I can't say I wasn't happy they broke up.

''I didn't expect to see him here.''

I fake yawned and said:
''I am sleepy. Let's go to bed.''

I lied. I wasn't sleepy at all. I was more energetic than ever. Dulcinea fell asleep faster than a blink. I couldn't stop my questions about what happened in San Lorenzo. I saw a weird light under Dulcinea's bed. I decided to check it out because I knew she was deep asleep. It was a jewel, shining. I saw a chest beside it. I discovered the jewel was the key to the chest. She probably forgot to hide the key. I opened it and saw photos of Dulcinea and Puss. They were ten photos I think. I took the chest with me and looked at the photos. Puss looked happy. He had a wide smile on his face in every photo. He was changed. Was he this happy with me? I don't think so… There was a letter in the chest too. I read it. It said:

I love you more than anything, and I hope you feel the same…

I love you more than myself, and trust me, that is a shock.

I can't love you more than I already do.

I tried to hide my feelings, but I can't no more.

You will find out who this is at the right time.

-A cat who wants to be with you no matter what.

I can't believe what I just read… Puss wrote this?! He even said he loves her more than himself, and everyone who knows Puss is aware he loves himself more than anyone. This means Puss loved Dulcinea a lot… I heard the door open and I tried to hide the photos and the letter. It was Puss!

''Oh, hi. I wanted to see how you are doing. I can't sleep.'' he said.

''H-hi!''

''What have you got there?''

''Uh, NOTHING! Absolutely nothing!''

''You are acting weird.''

Dulcinea woke up and noticed Puss. This is what I needed! She will find out I went through her things!

''Puss, I have something to show you.''

''What is it?''

Dulcinea looked under the bed and gasped.

''WHERE IS IT?!''

''Where is what?''

Puss was really confused. I got scared and my breath got heavy. If she finds out, I am done for…
