Chapter 3

A world with everything you can imagine

Dulcinea's pov

I can't believe someone stole the chest… it was one of the things I love the most! I will find out who did it. I looked at Puss and told him to leave the room right that second. I have to talk to Kitty. She is the only one who stepped in this room. I am sure she is in love with Puss.

''Be honest, did you steal the chest?!" I said, after Puss left.

''No!''

I just met Kitty, but she seems like she is not telling me the truth about her actions.

''Fine…'' I answered, not convinced.

I had just decided to sleep and search for it tomorrow, when I am alone. I tried to sleep, but kept having weird dreams about a wolf holding a knife. I got scared and wanted to open the door, but I didn't want to bother Puss. I want to be in his company so bad. Kitty was deep asleep and couldn't hear me. I didn't have anything else to do, so I started searching for the chest. I checked under Kitty's bed, and there it was! Did I put it there by mistake or did she steal it? Tough to say, but I would stick with the second option. I put the chest beside me in the bed and finally fell asleep peacefully.

In the morning

I got up and walked in the kitchen, happening to be the first one there. I took a seat next to where Puss sat last time, hoping he would sit there again. I was right, he sat right next to me. I didn't like one thing: Kitty was sitting next to him. Shrek and Puss hugged. It was the first time they saw each other since Puss came back. We started eating and Puss came with an idea:

''We should seek for adventure in this village.'' He suggested.

''Fiona and I have to fulfil our duties, but you are free to go wherever you want along with Dulcinea.''

''Me? Only him and I! What a pleasing idea!''

I am so excited! It is going to be like our date at the lake! Except that time an earthquake ruined it. This time it is going to be the best one yet!

''I meant with Kitty and Perrito as well, but if you want to, then, sure….''

Kitty looked like she was ready to punch me, but I innocently looked at her like I didn't hate her more than anything.

Puss's pov

I was awkwardly sitting there looking at Dulcinea and Kitty. They gave each other looks every time. I don't know what's up with them. Especially Dulcinea. Alone with her?! Why?

''I agree with Shrek. It is going to be fun.'' I said, trying to brighten up the mood.

''We have to go. See you in the evening.'' Said Fiona.

Fiona and Shrek left and only us four were left at the table.

''Should we get ready?'' asked Perrito.

Perrito didn't notice how awkward the situation has gotten. I got up and walked to my room. After I was ready I waited for them in front of the castle. They don't seem to hurry. Perrito saw me and waited with me for another fifteen minutes. Dulcinea and Kitty got dressed nicely. It's like they are trying to impress someone. We finally left the castle and started exploring the village. I missed everything about this village. I wanted to see the houses, the lake, and all the things again. Dulcinea and Kitty were pushing each other. I looked at them weirdly and they stopped right then. Perrito was saying 'hello' to all the people who were passing us. I waved at them. Everything around us started shaking hard, and I thought I was hallucinating.

''EARTHQUAKE!'' someone yelled.

It was a strong earthquake, pushing everyone around. The people tried to hold onto something for balance, and Dulcinea held my hand. I hugged her until it stopped. We were still hugging after it was over and I let go.

''What was THAT?!'' Yelled Kitty and Perrito at the same time.

I looked at Dulcinea and we both knew what was going on.

''Basically, when I lived in San Lorenzo, one of the things that happened the most were earthquakes. As you know, the world would have gotten destroyed if I hadn't left. The reason was the Netherworld. It was another dimension with monsters…''

''Monsters?! I think it's just a coincidence.'' Answered Kitty, somehow annoyed.

Dulcinea seemed more frightened than ever, because the memories we had with the Netherworld hit both of us. Only a portal separated our world from the Netherworld. I didn't know the Nether world still existed. I thought we closed the portal forever… I am truly aware of it, so I am going to beat it again.

''We have to go home and figure out a plan.'' I suggested.

''Yes, I totally agree.'' Said Dulcinea.

Kitty and Perrito didn't know much about the Netherworld, but Dulcinea and I planned to explain more later. Everyone was silent and locked their doors after the earthquake happened. I hope Kitty is right and it is just a coincidence. We walked back to the castle. I entered first, and I lost my ability to speak when I saw that the inside of the castle was almost destroyed. Fiona and Shrek are not home, but I have to call them somehow. Then it hit me. DONKEY and the other animals! I have to go see if they are ok! I ran to the back of the castle and opened the wooden door only to find some of them dead and some of them injured. I think they hit their head when the earthquake happened. I checked on Donkey, and he was okay!

''Donkey! Are you ok?!"

''Puss!? How come you are here?'' he asked, happy.

''I came to visit, but after the previous event I will stay here a little longer than expected.''

''Yes! A lot of my friends died…''

''I am so sorry. We will fix this soon. We already know what caused the earthquake.''

''How?''

''Long story. I will tell you later. I have to go. We will chat in the evening.'' I said quickly.

''See you soon.''

I left Donkey there and went back to the gang.

''How is Donkey doing?'' asked Dulcinea, with her sweet voice.

''He's fine. But other animals died.'' I informed her.

''Who is Donkey?" asked Kitty.

Kitty's pov

I hate to be less informed than Dulcinea and Puss. Especially Dulcinea. They know more than Perrito and I do. I don't know anything about this Donkey or the 'Netherworld'. It's like they saw the future. I wish I was Dulcinea in Puss's past. It's like I am the moon in space. Nothing would happen if the moon wouldn't exist, but Dulcinea is the sun, and no one can live without the sun.

''One of Puss's old friends. I am surprised you don't know that.'' Answered Dulcinea, teasing me.

''I was asking Puss.'' I said, giving her a harsh look.

''Stop the fighting!" said Perrito.

''We have to find the spell we closed the portal with in the past.''

''We don't even know if the portal exists!" I yelled.

Right then I heard the news.

''A portal has opened in the middle of the city, and we don't know what it is yet. The police is still investigating it, and you can't step towards it, or you will pay a huge fee. The news will keep you updated. Stay safe.'' Said the lady from the news.

''See?!" Dulcinea said, pointing at the television.

I rolled my eyes, but I was truly afraid. At least they defeated the Netherworld before, but I never heard of it.

''I remember the book. I think I know where to find it.'' Dulcinea informed us.

''That's great. I remember it too. We will guide you, guys.'' Puss laughed, looking at Perrito and I.

Puss wanted to press the latch of the door out, but another earthquake started moving things around like a wild roller coaster.

End of chapter.

Dear Magicofthesun, they split up because Puss had to leave San Lorenzo, or else the world would've been destroyed forever.

Dear Calico, don't worry, they are all friends, except Dulcinea and Kitty. They hate each other because they both like Puss. Perrito is nice to everyone, as always.
