The Vinsmoke Bride Chapter 7
Lanette's instincts were correct, right on the dot.
The sparring match between Sanji and Zoro does indeed take a significant amount of time. So much so that Lanette eventually must sit down to rest her feet and give her back a break from the extra weight.
As the fight continues to go on and on Lanette begins to lose her patience with these two. She soon figures out a way to get them to stop when an opportunity presents itself thanks to the baby.
Sucking in a sudden breath, placing a hand over her round belly, Lanette called "Sanji? Sanji, the baby is kicking!"
That gets his attention big time.
"What," exclaimed Sanji, immediately breaking off from Zoro to rush right over. Once reaching her Sanji drops to his knees, positions his hands on his belly, and stares at it in wonderment. "You really felt her kick?"
"Yes and it's the hardest one yet," laughed Lanette. "The babies really getting more active."
Grinning upon feeling the baby nudge his hand as it's done many times before previously, Sanji said "That just means she is going to be strong like her mother," insisted Sanji.
"She's definitely going to have your kick for sure," said Lanette, fixing a stray hair from his face that fell between his eyes during the fight.
And the baby is going to have good instincts with that impeccable timing of hers.
But Zoro seems intent on provoking the fight again. Just as he's about to open his mouth to say something irritable the transponder snail Sanji is carrying goes off.
Turns out it's Franky and he has some important news for them.
Because of the fake Straw Hats that are currently on the island causing a stir the Navy is already mobilizing everywhere for capture. Luffy is somewhere on the island just roaming around, but none of them know his location. Franky needs Zoro and Sanji to go find him before the Navy does. Once Luffy is located then they'll meet everyone else at Grove 42.
This leaves Sanji in a bit of a pickle. He knows he has to go find Luffy and make sure Zoro is kept on track, but he can't leave his wife. In the physical state Lanette is in there's no possible way she can keep up.
A solution is thought up.
Chopper is already at the Sunny. Sanji tells the crew over the transponder snail where they are so Chopper can come make a quick pick up for both Lanette and the supplies purchased during the walk.
Zoro did say he could handle the search on his own, but Sanji quickly shoots that idea down. Having no confidence in Zoro, Sanji knows he'll just get lost again.
Zoro shoots a dirty look at Sanji in response to this.
The three of them end up waiting for Chopper to arrive at Grove 45.
The initial greeting between Chopper and Lanette is a hilarious one. Given none of the Straw Hat Crew had been in contact with each other while they'd been separated no one had known Sanji had married. So this would be a grand surprise to all.
Lanette is carefully situated on Choppers back, carrying the air bubbles holding the supplies.
Gently kissing her on the forehead, Sanji said "I'll meet you back at the Sunny. Wait for me there."
"Be careful," said Lanette, softly.
Chuckling, Sanji said "I always am."
Lanette then watches Sanji and Zoro rush off, smile slightly decreasing on her lips as she places a hand on her stomach in worry for their safety.
